"Could not find RAID" error in Disk Utility

Hello,
I could really use some help as this problem is causing me lots of headaches. I have two 500GB MyBook hard-drives connected to my MacBook Pro via two USB's. I had them setup as a mirrored RAID, and they were working properly for quite sometime. However over the past few weeks I noticed they were always in a degraded state, and Disk Utility would always rebuild them. However after the rebuild they would still have the status of "Degraded" and the next time Disk Utility opened it would start the rebuilding process yet again.
So I moved all the data on the drives to a backup, and I stopped the mirrored RAID. After erasing the data on the drives individually I attempted to setup the mirror again. However after the mirror had just about finished, and it was to the point of "bringing the RAID online" I always get an error that states "Creating RAID set failed", "Creating RAID set failed with the error: Could not find RAID.".
I'm hoping someone smarter than myself in this area can lend me some time and assistance to solving this issue.
Thanks,
Paul

Well. No one really came to my rescue with this question. Turned out to be a Finder issue. After reinstalling the operating system everything started working again with Disk Utility.

    Got the solution.
    The statement:

    should be changed as:
    ResultSet rs=st.executeQuery("select * from Employee");
    Now, it is working fine.

  • Could not find type error - unknown or missing type

    Hello,
I have a sequence file created on the TestStand 3.5 version (running on winXP which I don't have at the moment) and I'm trying to use this sequence on my TestStand 4.2 (running on Win7).
The error is (see attached picture) Could not find type 'XML_POPUP' ,unknown or missing type.
I have tried adding a type named XML_POPUP to the MyTypes.ini->Step Types.
Is there a way to load the sequence without a type, I only need to see the steps and extract data for the new sequence I'm building.
I can also view the code of the sequence in NOTEPAD++ , is there a way to extract the data using the this code?
    Thank you,

    Hi,
I have found an .ini file containing the XML_POPUP step type (as seen in the attached picture).
When I'm trying to load the sequence I receive the same error, that the 'XML_POPUP' type is not found.
After loading the .ini file as seen in the picture, do I need to configure something else for the sequence I'm trying to load to locate this type?
    Thank you,

  • Problems with External Hard drive, will not mount and errors in disk utilit

i have a powerbook g4 aluminum. i have an external hard drive for it. a simple tech 100gig portable drive, almost brand new. i dont know what happened to it, but one day i was starting my computer up with it attached. it wounldnt fully start up, said "waiting for local disks" so i uplugged the external hard drive. now it wont mount and will only show up in the disk utility of my friends macbook. i tried to verify and repair, and this is the message i got.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

Im in mexico writing a book and so i really need help on this one guys.

Hi, hjbugs, and welcome to Apple Discussions. Disconnecting the drive while your Powerbook was accessing it probably caused your problem. It may be repairable using DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro, but if you don't have access to one of those and aren't going to buy one, reformatting the drive with Disk Utility may be the only other way to make it usable again. If it contains data you need to recover first (i.e., data that isn't also stored on your internal HD or other storage media), download the free demo version of one of the data recovery utilities mentioned in this thread and use it to see what is recoverable. If the files you need are recoverable, buy the full version of one of the utilities and recover them.

  • Edge Animate could not find .html error message

I have a series of animate files that I have created. When I try to open the files to make edits, this error message appears:
All of the files are in the same folder, and I have not changed any file names or coding outside of animate. I can open the .html file and edit that, but when I go to save or publish, I get this message:
I've seen the first message on a couple of discussion threads, but it didn't really seem to resolve the initial problem. I'd love it if someone had a fix for this.

    Hey guys,
Sorry for the trouble you're running into -- maybe check these few things.
Are you trying to open a published file? Only the original .html file can be opened with Animate; the published files aren't runtrippable.
Has the .an or associated .html file been renamed? Have any of the dependant folders or files been renamed? The naming used when saving needs to remain in tact. In the future we're looking to loosen this restriction, but if you rename the .html or .an Animate will barf when you try and open.
Is the file saved in a locked folder? Permission issues can arise if you have restrictions placed within the OS. If you're not sure where to look for this, Here's an article on how to change permissions on Windows. Be sure to check the directory you're saving to and publishing to. A quick test might be to copy the entire AN project/files onto a conventionally unlocked folder like the desktop and try running from there.
For the users in this thread: Can you describe your operating system, and where your files are being saved and where Animate is installed? For example C:\Windows\Blah\Programs
    Thanks,

  • "Could Not Find Key" error when trying to download iTunes 7

Everytime I try to install iTunes 7, it gets about half way done and then says that it cannot find some sort of key (HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuickTime.QuickTime\CLSID is the full text FYI). I have no clue what this means since I'm a far cry from a computer whiz. Any help would be awesome.

  • Visio Shapes "Could not find match" Error

I upgraded to office 2010 just this past week, and after the upgrade I noticed I could no longer search for shapes in Visio 2007. I tried a repair.  I re-indexed everything in the Indexing Options in the control panel. I uninstalled reinstalled. and
then I upgraded to Visio 2010 and aboslutely nothing has worked to fix this issue. please advise

If the shape search is no longer supported, why is there a search edit control under shapes?
Shape search is still supported. Internet shape search is no longer available.
Mind you, when shapes are found the shape search display is really badly broken. The display used to show which stencil the shapes had been found in (which was very, very useful because it gave you a clue to where other similar shapes might be found), but
now it's just a list of shapes with duplicates (and you have no idea which is metric and which is US units. Yes, I know the information is available if you do <shape>right-click -> properties, but that isn't the point.

  • Need help in finding the root cause the error 'Could not find function:'

    Hi fokls,
In my workflow notification , when I click on the notification to process it , it says ' 'Could not find function:' error.
I found the this message is coming out from the Fnd_new_messages table from the message_name 'FND_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND'.
    Here are my questions ...
    1. FND_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND - Is it a oracle Seeded message ?
    2. If so the error I am getting is a oracle product Bug ?
And In between , I am getting this error for few transaction only. ( out of 100 , i am getting this error at the rate of 5 per 100 ... or less)
3 .If its a oracle product bug then , how is 95 out of 100 transaction are succssfully wokring ?
    4. If is a custom bug , how it os not though for some other 95 transaction ?
    5. Can I expect it as Data issue ? If so what kind of data issue.
Folks , any kind of info will be really , realy helpful for me ... please let me know your inputs for me.
    Thansk to all in advance
    Raghu

In the error message 'Could not find function:' after colon what function name it is giving.
'FND_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND' is a seeded message only.
As you are saying the error was throwing only for 5% or less notifications, is the error throwing for same kind of notifications? I mean the item type and message are same for these erroneous notifications?
It can be that some function in particular type of workflow is error-ed out does not exists, when responding to those kind of notifications it might be throwing error.
    Please check that.

  • Could not find registry for CommunicationsApp_JBOServiceRegistry

    Hi,
I have an SDO running at
    http://localhost:7101/CoreModelApp-CommunicationsSDO-context-root/CommsAppModuleService
The application name in JDeveloper is CommunicationsApp though, so I believe that is the name i should be using?
The web-application.xml for my SDO contains the oracle.jbo.client.svc.ADFApplicationLifecycleListener already, and the composite which references the SDO contains :
    <reference name="CommunicationsSDO" ui:wsdlLocation="http://localhost:7101/CoreModelApp-CommunicationsSDO-context-root/CommsAppModuleService?wsdl">
    <interface.wsdl interface="/ybs/poc/app/sdo/communications/common/#wsdl.interface(CommsAppModuleService)"/>
    <binding.adf serviceName="{/ybs/poc/app/sdo/communications/common/}CommsAppModuleService" registryName="CommunicationsApp_JBOServiceRegistry"/>
I continuously get the 'Could not find registry' error whenever I call the service from enterprise manager.
How do I make sure I have the correct registry name? Or is my problem something to do with my SDO running on JDevelopers Integrated WebLogic Server whilst my service references it from an independent WebLogic installation?
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi,
most probably that means you are trying to use command (in some command group or so) which does not exist or is wrongly registered with different alias. It should be logged in the error message what is the alias it can not find.

  • Disk utility reports "Device could not be opened" - error when trying to format a new drive in a Mac Pro 1,1

    MacPro 1,1 Quadcore 3 GHz (2006 "Woodcrest")
    32 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 5770
    OS X 10.7.5 Lion
I have encountered the following behavior when trying to format a new drive with disk utility. This description has also been send via the Mac Pro feedback as a bug report to Apple.
On searching the web and forums with this particular error message and behaviour I could not find any usful results. So maybe the following description may be helpful for some users.
    Best regards.
    1. Drive Bay 1 contains the original 250 GB Startupdisk. It works without errors.
    2. Drive Bays 3 and 4 contain each a WD Caviar Black 2 TB SATA 3 HDD. They work without errors.
    3. I have purchased a third WD Caviar Black 2 TB HDD.
    4. In Drive Bay 2 there has been a Seagate 750 GB HDD, which worked in conjunction with all the other drives without error.
    5. I exchanged the Seagate HDD in Drive Bay 2 with the new WD Caviar Black 2 TB HDD.
    6. On starting the system, it will report to initialize the new drive.
    7. On trying to initialize the new drive with disk utility it reports the error [translated from German] "Erasing of the volume has failed. The device could not be opened."
    8. I thought that the drive is faulty. Thus I created an RMA-Case at WD. They exchanged the drive without problems.
    9. On getting the exchanged WD Caviar Black 2 TB drive I put it in Drive Bay 2 as before.
    10. On trying to erase and format the exchange drive I got the same error message "Drive could not be opened."
10.1 On selecting the physical drive in the devices list, disk utility reports all information in the bottom area of its window as usual, e. g. hard disk description, connection bus, type and place, capacity, write status, SMART-status, partition scheme.
10.1 On leaving that drive selected in the devices list and clicking the info-button, disk utility will also report additional information as usual, e. g. Name, Type, partition scheme, media-identification, media name, media type, device tree, … , number of relocated sectors, etc.. All this information appears to be valid, as can be compared to the other devices information inside the other Drive Bays. Also the disk numbering scheme appears to be standard - 4 HDDs give the numbering disk0, disk1, disk2, disk3.
10.2 From that information I conclude that the SATA-bus and connectors electrically work properly, the drive has spun up and can be accessed by the system normally.
    11. I powered down the computer, took out the HDDs from Drive Bays 3 and 4 and put the caddy with the new exchange drive in Drive Bay 4 [Maybe, I could have also just left it alone in Drive Bay 2, or 3].
    12. After powering on the system, disk utility will quick format the exchange drive without any error message. Also, when erasing again by selecting the option to write zeros to the drive, disk utility will finish without error.
    13. After disk utility finished formatting, I put back the original drives into Drive Bay 3 and 4 and put the now newly formatted drive back into Drive Bay 2.
    14. After switching on the computer the system start and login proceeds without any error message. All drives appear as expected on the desktop.

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to "Time Capsule. The backup disk image /Volumes/Data/MacBook Pro.sparsebundle could not be created (error 60)"

We are Mountain Lion using Time Machine to backup to Time Capsule. When the backup tries to run, an error appears after a couple of minutes saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Then an error shows up saying "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to "Time Capsule. The backup disk image /Volumes/Data/MacBook Pro.sparsebundle could not be created (error 60)"
I low level reformatted the Time Capsule and that didn't fix it. I then tried using Time Machine on another computer to back up to that same Time Capsule and it worked- so I'm doubting it's the Time Capsule.
I've noticed that when Time Machine runs, that a  folder called Data  at /Volumes/ appears while Time Machine is trying to back up. I think it's making the sparsebundle to transfer to the Time Capsule.
However, after a couple of minutes- it comes back saying that the disk is unreadable.
I think it's something wrong with either creating the sparsebundle or opening the disk image that seems to be a part of the Time Machine backup process on the local drive.
I am able to create a disk image with Disk Utilitiy without any problem on that system. I've repaired the disk and disk permissions with Disk Utility and replaced the directory with Disk Warrior. I've trashed what preference files I could find and restarted. I've completely removed the backup destination from the computer and added it back again.
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Neil

Yes, exactly.  It makes one sparse bundle per Mac.
It's possible the TC's disk is too full for a new sparse bundle, or there may be some other problem.
Via the Finder, locate the existing sparse bundle (see the pink box in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #17 if you're not sure how to do that).  See how large it is (plus how large anything else that may be there).  If the total is very near the size of the TC, that may be the problem.
If not, a clue may be lurking in your logs.  Use the widget in #A1 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting to display the backup messages from your logs.  Locate the backup in question (probably the first one displayed), then copy and post all the messages here.

I am unable to complete a backup and I get this message The backup disk image “/Volumes/Ana M. Hernandez, DO's Time/Ana M. Hernandez, DO.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1). I have tried to find help but I can't find it in the apple site. I'm not very techy at troubleshooting and don;t want to dlo anything that will worsen the problem without advice. Thank you.

Reboot the Time Capsule.. Lion has terrible networking issues with the TC and has simply forgotten where it is.
Check C17 for some other issues.. there is some other things that cause it. And you can do a disconnect all users if you have the right utility.

  • The backup disk image "/volumes/data/GuisselleiMac.sparsebundle" could not be created error null

    Hello...
I just got my first 2tb TimeCapsule (TC). Unfortunately, it is not backing up!! I keep on getting the message "the backup disk image "/volumes/data/GuisselleiMac.sparsebundle" could not be created (error (null))"
I've looked in many websites but can't find a solution... I've tried re-setting the TC to original settings, turning my Mac off and on, changing the name of my mac, changing the name of my mac on the network, nothing works!!!
My TC is connected with an ethernet cable to a linksys router wich is connected to the cable modem, so it is in bridge mode. I have not connected the TC to my mac, I don't think this is necessary..
    Can someone help me please!!!

My TC is connected with an ethernet cable to a linksys router wich is connected to the cable modem, so it is in bridge mode. I have not connected the TC to my mac, I don't think this is necessary..
Your TC is not directly connected to the Mac and unfortunately it does seem to matter.
The reason the TC fails is not entirely clear but it has to do with Mavericks.
Let me recommend you test what happens with the TC reset and plugged directly into the Mac by ethernet.
You will need to run it in router mode. Ignore all the errors and see if it now works.
The other suggestion is to manually mount the TC hard disk
First of all find it in the network via network utility.
Run netstat and get the current routing table.
Locate your TC on it.. On mine above it shows as tcgen4.local
So in Finder top menu.. Go > Connect to Server.
Type in AFP://TCnetworkname.local (exactly as it appears in netstat)
Or use the IP address.. the problem is that in your setup it is probably not fixed.
The current IP can be found by pinging the name. So ping in a terminal or in network utility.
    ping tcgen4
ping: cannot resolve tcgen4: Unknown host
Note how you must use the full domain.
    ping tcgen4.local
    PING tcgen4.local (192.168.2.201): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 192.168.2.201: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=4.160 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.2.201: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=3.742 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.2.201: icmp_seq=2 ttl=255 time=3.332 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.2.201: icmp_seq=3 ttl=255 time=3.785 ms
    ^C
    --- tcgen4.local ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 3.332/3.755/4.160/0.293 ms
So you have now established the IP..
    And type that in.
    AFP://192.168.2.201 (or whatever shows).
Once you have mounted the disk .. delete the old Time Machine setup as per A4 in Pondini.. and set up again.
It should work.. but I strongly recommend a direct link to the TC.
