Cover disappears if you delete and re-add a book to ibook library

I am converting a book to an epub ebook chapter by chapter. The first time I put my book into itunes it had a cover, I deleted it from the ipad and ibook entries in itunes; sync'd everything withou the book, then I added the book again to itunes. The cover was lost. I checked some tools I was using and Calibre still had the cover, so I wasn't crazy. Looks like a bug maybe?

If the books were bought through iTunes they are available within the iBooks app to download again for free. You can safely remove the app and reinstall it.
However, be aware that any other documents you have saved for opening within iBooks will be deleted and lost if you don't have them backed up somewhere.

I am not certain this will fix your problem but I suggest you assign the printer a static IP address.
Using the printer's front panel, select Menu > Network > WLAN > TCP/IP > Boot method, and change it to "static". Provide a static IP address that is on your LAN's subnet.
For example, if you are using an AirPort Extreme, you might give it an IP address of 10.0.1.100. If you are using a Netgear or Linksys router that defaults to issuing 192.168.x.x addresses, you might give it an address of 192.168.1.100. That way, the printer will always "reside at the same address" on your network. If your router has the ability, you should reserve that address so that the router does not attempt to assign it to another DHCP device.
Then, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, and delete your existing printer with the "–" (minus) button. Add it again, using the "+" (plus) button. In the window that appears, select the IP pane, and from the Protocol menu select "Line Printer Daemon (LPD)". In the Address field type the IP address you gave your printer.
If all goes well the "Pring Using" field will detect the printer at that address and automatically select the appropriate driver. You will see something similar to the following screenshot ("name" can be whatever you decide, and "location" is optional):
Click Add, then you can close System Preferences.
There are other possible reasons your printer is "not responding" which could include wireless interference from competing wireless networks, but try this "static IP" method first. It should mitigate the problem.

There's no rollback in the application if you encountered failed during the installation.. The application profile will be lost... ****....

Try update the app using iTune (computer) and sync to iPad.

Unable to add books - "the document that you are attempting to add already exists in the library" - there is NOTHING in the liabrary. Any suggestions??

I just downloaded Digital Editions so I can read proceedings from a conference. I followed the instructions but cannot add the

Yes, updated to firmware version 1.28. That was the 1st thing I did.
Then I authorized my iRiver. ADE had been installed way before I got
iRiver. It has a couple library books there. I hoped to read them on
iRiver. After I read this thread and another one at

CtrlShiftE and CtrlShiftD to de-authorize both my computer and the
device. Then authorized both and had to download books again, deleted
previously copied books from iRiver and copied fresh copies. No luck.

Can't add pdf book to iBooks

Can't add pdf books to iBooks like i used to . I normally use the add to library command to achieve this but books don't show up
Following numerous tries and un plugging iPad Mini and restarting iTunes, i searched for my iPad library in my home lib ray to discover the books i wanted to add are now in the iTunes Media folder (where my music is) but as unknown artist. I have separate libraries for my iPhone and another iPad and these show the books folder which seems to have disappeared from my iPad folder.
Also when trying to synchronize iTunes said it lost connection and could not save my iPad Mini numerous times.
Also the general info bar at the bottom of my iTunes window is now all confused as to the size and contents of my iPad Mini. I have about 25000 photos and it says i only have 235Mb of photos where it should be closer to 15 GB. The miscellaneous portion in that bar is rating this content at about 16Gb.
Can someone help ?

This probably isn't helpful, but what you did does work in 10.6 Snow Leopard.
I dragged one of my PDF eBooks into iTunes and it showed up in the Books section.
But when I clicked on it, it displayed it in Adobe Acrobat, just the same as if I'd clicked on the original file itself.
I don't see any advantatge to importing eBooks into iTunes, especially PDF eBooks ... unless you're syncing with an iPhone, I guess ... even then you'll need a good pdf viewer on the iPhone unless you convert the PDFs to ePubs.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your purchased books in iBooks. For this issue, I recommend signing out and back into the iTunes Store on your iPad:
Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.
The last step states to sign in with another account, but for the situation you described, I recommend just signing in with your same Apple ID.

If the issue persists after signing out and back in, I recommend quitting and relaunching the applications on your iPad:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.

If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting and relaunching the iTunes Store app, I recommend restarting your phone and then resetting if it's still not working:

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.

Cisco Works - need to re-use a 3560, how to delete and re-add in Cisco Works

Hello. I did not see a cisco works section on the forum, forgive me if it's there and I missed it. I have removed a 3560 switch from one location and am going to rename it (same IP though) and deply it in a different department. We have cisco works sending critical and informational alerts as well as backup the configs on Sunday mornings. I think I was able to get it to stop sending alerts when I unplugged and unhooked the switch. I want to give the switch a new host name and re-deploy it. I assume it will be easier to delete and then re-add the switch to cisco works. Is the a document where I can follow steps to remove it from cisco works? I have the documentation, but it is hard to read and they don't really have an area that specifically says "remove a switch from cisco works", and I don't want to break everything for the other 55 switches that cisco works does do the alerts and backups for. I know cisco works is full of different modules, so I was wondering if there was a document or some type of help I could get for doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mike Baker

I have to delete and re-add my printer daily

Hey there,
I gave up trying to get my HP 2600n to work on a network and connected it directly to my computer. I had downloaded the drivers from the HP website and installed them on my new I-mac 2.4ghz, but I continue to have a strange problem-
Every day, I need to delete and then re-add the printer, in order for it to work (and it does). If I just try and print to it, after starting (or re-starting) the computer, I get the message: "The process "hppostprocessing" stopped unexpectedly with status 13."
As well, when I click on the printer, I cannot access the Utility key to reset the printers, as it is turned off. Not sure why.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. It's not debilitating, just irritating!

I work for an Enterprise with around 30 devices so far, 5 of them have been upgraded to iOS 5.01 and we are having this issue, the steps below are appearing, these are both on iphone and ipad 2's with exchange 2003:-
- Exchange Calendars not sync'ing, but Yahoo account working fine.
- Create an appointment on the ipad / iphone and this sync's with Exchange.
- Close the Calendar and re-open the appointment disappears, but stay's within Exchange.
- Meetings created within the Exchange Calendar do not synch with the iphone / ipad.
This is starting to cause a lot of issues.

Cover art for pdf books in ibook library

Hi have tried for days to get covers on my pdf books that are in my ibook library but i can't find the answer. Have tried various methods and it is driving me insane!!! Have tried calibre, get the cover but when i try and open the book nothing happens, have tried to add a page to the pdf document but there is nowhere to let me insert a page, have read loads of things on google but nothing is working. Please help it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a Mac computer, you can just open your PDF in preview and drag a picture into the sidebar to make it the first page then save it.
If you only have Windows computer, you can use acrobat full version to edit your PDF file.
Or you can convert cover art picture to PDF format, then combine it with book PDF file by some PDF merge tool.

How do I delete an unuseable faded out book in iBooks?

I attempted to purchase a book in iBooks on my iPad Air. it downloaded successfullly to my iPhone 5, but it's hard to read there and I really wanted it in my iPad. The download to the iPad failed, leaving me with a faded cover of the book (In list view the title cover is desplayed and on the right there is a circle with a solid square).
I have been in contact with iTunes technical support and after several emails back and forth, Jonathan from Tech support has arranged for me to get my money back. That's fine. But he was unable to suggest how to get rid of unuseable version on my iPad.
Can anyone here help?

For some reason Apple have always inserted a blank page to the left of the cover page (on portrait books). It's not great but you can zoom in by pinching. And the latest version of iBooks (3.2) recently updated for iOS 7, has been designed to remove the border and view the pages in the whole of the screen.
Or if you've got a Mac, iBooks is now available in OSX Mavericks so you could view the book there.

I try to add a book but to ibooks on my mac however every time an error message comes up saying that "either the former doesn't exist or the folder containing the latter doesn't exist." I lost all of my books and can't add any new ones. I've tried to restart the program, and my computer, and i've tried other files outside of the folder but nothing happens- i get the same wrroe message. I've attached a picture of the error message.
