Cover Open Message, hp f4480 deskjet printer

Hi,
I accidentally broke the door sensor for my printer.
The solution says: "Open Door", and it won't print.
I've tried to install the broken sensor myself, which says "C 15" on it,
but I have no idea where it is supposed to go.
Thank you.
This question was solved.

Hello @Jen91,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you have a broken door sensor on your HP Deskjet F4480 All-in-One Printer. Unfortunately, the door sensor is a non replaceable part within your HP Deskjet printer. Therefore, to correct the 'Door Open' error message on your printer a whole unit replacement would be needed.
I would recommend at this point contacting our Technical Support queue by phone to explore hardware options.

    Hello danlee58.
    If possible, please document the error pattern that appears on the LED display of the printer.  A letter and one or two numbers should be alternating.

  • Hp officejet pro L7590 all-in-one printers - 'door open' message

    We have a 1 and 1/2 year old HP Officejet Pro L7590 all-in-one . "Door Open" message would not go away even if all the doors are intact, or after we shut it down and turn it back on after 60 seconds. We could not print, fax nor copy. We talked to HP customer service which no longer support this series. How can we bring our printer back to work?

    There are at least three interlock switches that can cause this error.  One is on the door that covers the ink cartridges, one is on the top lid (covering the "guts" of the printer) you lift up to service the printheads and the third is on the back duplexer; if you don't have a duplexer, there should be a cover in place.  You'll need to check all three to be sure they're in working order.
    I know the door covering the ink cartridges has a tendency to break off the little tab that keeps the door closed so that would be the first one I'd check.  The top lid that covers the "guts" of the printer also has a small tab that goes into a hole that activates an interlock switch.  If that tab is broken off, the switch does not get closed, giving you the error message you see.  I've seen this broken off also, usually from closing the cover when misaligned with the receiving hole.  If this one is missing, you can ball up a small piece of paper and shove it in the hole to activate the interlock switch.
    The 7590 is a great printer.  Much better built than the newer models and cheap to operate, IMO.  Hope you can get it working again.

  • Error message - The HP Deskjet 1510 Series was not found

    I bought the Deskjet 1514 on 19/07/15 and installed it on my relatively new laptop. It worked ok, then I did the Windows 10 upgrade on 01/08/15. I installed the updated drivers from HP for this device. What ever I do, (have uninstalled software, reinstalled at least 4 times, used the scan doctor, swapped USB cables and ports, cleaned the disk...) I just get the message The HP Deskjet 1510 series was not found, yet when aligning the ink cartridges the scanner will work but I cannot do the test scan in the scan doctor or scan anything using the HP software (which you have to do as there is no proper control panel on the actual device). As bought the device primarily as a scanner, I am not happy and just want the thing to work but haven't a clue how to proceed except to take the thing back to Tesco and get a refund and buy a Canon instead... Please can anyone help as the HP support is useless? The printer part is working fine, which makes it ridiculous.

    I see by your post that you are unable to scan. I can help you with this.
    Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
    How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
    What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

  • IMac and HP 6940 Deskjet printer

    I'm using an iMac 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM and an HP 6940 Deskjet printer. Recently the printer started working erratically: printer stalls frequently, takes way too long to print pages.  Driver is 4.0, no new one seems to be available. Suggestions?

    "She was using the Safari browser, 7.0.5 and this has been happening since then.."
    It could be malware.
    Download the malware removal tool here >  The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide
    If no malware was found, open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners then select the Print tab.
    Click:  Open Print Queue...
    Delete all print jobs.
    Then restart the Mac. Turn off the printer. Wait about ten seconds then turn it back on.

  • HP Photomart 1000 Deskjet Printer Problems

    Previously through HP Support I was able to use my old faithful and super-reliable HP Photosmart 1000 printer on Vista (32bit) with this driver installed on Vista.  It was the HP 970Cse and it worked flawlessly.  But now, just getting an "error" message when trying to print a test page.  Anyone have any more ideas?  Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling this and other printer drivers that I use regularly.   Please Help!  I don't want to donate this one to the landfill yet!!

    Actually the Deskjet 970 drivers are a better match for the Photosmart 1000.  The Deskjet 990 drivers should work for text but will probably fail for photo's and some graphics.
    What happens when you try to print - are there any error messages?  Does the printer go through any motions of trying to print?
    Is the printer connected with USB or a parallel port?  If the printer is connected with a USB port it would probably be USB001: or USB 002:, see the document here.  For a parallel port the likely port would be LPt1:.
    How are you printing a test page?  To start I would use Notepad and try a simple text document.

  • Why did I get a "You Have Missed a Print" message with Daily Mail Printer Edition?

    You will miss a scheduled print if your computer is turned off or not connected to the Internet, or if you are logged out. When you see the “You have missed a print” message, you can click Print to print now, or Skip.
    You can set Daily Mail Printer Edition to automatically do the same thing every time you miss a print.
    Open Daily Mail Printer Edition.
    Click the wrench icon () to open theSettings dialog.
    If you want missed items to print immediately when you log in, select Automatically. If you want to be asked before an item is printed, select When Prompted. If you always want to skip missed items, select Never.

  • Deskjet printer woes

    I have a 720C deskjet printer.  Yes, it is old but it works well, or did until we got Vista. The instalation CD says it works for windows 3.1x, Windows 95, and windows NT 4.0.    It had been working on windows XP home edition and I think when it was set up that we got dsome sort of update-patch-fixer from the HP website.
    At present my computer is correctly identifying the printer, it comes on and the paper will begin to feed, it makes the "I'm ready" noise and then it just sits there with its little green light blinking away.
    Is there anything I can do?  I'm not geeky.

    This reply is to: Bob Headrick, Microsoft MVP Printing/Imaging
    Bob, thank you for trying to help me with this issue.
    Your hyperlink. which leads to the instructions for "Installing the Printer Driver Located in the Windows Vista Operating System" is exactly what I did.  I've followed your instructions again so that I can provide you with the details of what's happening:
    1.  "Installing the Printer Driver Located in the Windows Vista Operating System" gives two choices depending upon the type of cable you are using.  I went the route
          of "USB Cable".  The reason for this choice is that with Windows XP, I was using a Parallel cable on a computer that had a Parallel port and the printer worked
          fine.  I've since gone to a new computer that does not have a Parallel port, and thus, purchased a USB to IEEE 1284 Parallel Printer Cable.
          [By the way, I'm using this exact same type USB to Parallel printer cable for my HP LaserJet 2100 on the new computer running Vista 64 and the LJ2100 works
          just fine.]
    2.  After the printer has been turned on and I connect the cable, I get a "Driver Software Installation" popup that says:
         "HEWLETTPACKARDDESKJET 720C ... Searching Windows Update"
          A few seconds later the popup updates with "Installing Driver Software"
          Just a few seconds after that the popup updates with "Ready to use"
    3.  I then open up the Printers folder.  It shows the 720C in "Ready" state.
    4.  I then right-click the 720C, select "Properties" from the dropdown and click on the button "Print Test Page"
    5.  A popup entitled "HP DeskJet 720C" indicates "A test page has been sent to your printer" however, the green light on the printer doesn't flash, there is no noise
         coming from the printer (like it's about to print), and no test page prints.
    6.  I get similar results if I go to Microsoft Word to print a document.  The print queue shows that the document is spooling and then the document quickly disappears
         from the print queue.
    I hope these details help you in helping me!  Thanks so much!

  • Cannot open message catalog when invoked through JNI

    Hello there.
    I'm having the following problem:
    I've coded a simple workstation tuxedo client (tuxedo version 9.1) that uses a couple of services. When I compile it as an executable and run it everything works fine, with no issues. However, when compiled as a dynamic library and invoked from JAVA via JNI, all functionalities operate correctly (the client connects to the server and invokes the services without a hitch), except that in the event of an error, when I invoke the function tpstrerror(), the following error is returned instead of the proper error description:
    NLS:4: Cannot open message catalog LIBWSC_CAT, set 1, num 1142; check TUXDIR=/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1, LANG=C
    I've checked and re-checked the environment variables. I now include the values for those I think could be relevant to the issue, printed in the C code, obtained with the getenv() function.
    These are the values printed when run as an executable:
    TUXDIR=/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1
    LANG=en_US.UTF-8
    PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games:/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_06/bin:/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1/bin
    NLSPATH=/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1/locale/C
    And these when run as a dynamic library invoked from Java code:
    TUXDIR=/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1
    LANG=en_US.UTF-8
    PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games:/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_06/bin:/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1/bin
    NLSPATH=/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1/locale/C:/usr/dt/lib/nls/msg/%L/%N.cat
    The only difference is marked in bold, but I don't think it matters much (don't know what is appending that extra value to the variable though).
    I've tried setting LANG=C and NLSPATH=/home/adrian/bea/tuxedo9.1/, with no luck. Is there maybe a native library that has to be included in order to open the message catalogs that is not in TUXDIR/lib?
    I'd highly appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction here.
    Thank you in advance for taking the time to read the post.
    Regards.
