Coverting .swf to xaml

Hi all,
I am newbie to both  swf and xaml.
I have query regarding converting .swf to xaml.I have a .swf file and want to convert into a WPF based xaml file with retaining individual properties of objects as in .swf file.
Problem:
When i am trying to convert from swf to xaml i am getting the whole swf file as one image rather than each individual object on which I can click as i can do in .swf file.
i tired many tools such SWF2XAML,siverx,silverboon eventhough I am not getting the output what I need. The .swf file has actionscript, text and objects.
I have attached the input .swf and output xaml file I am not able to attach it.
In .swf file we can click on each individual objects where as in output xaml we can not.It is generating the whole .swf as one image..and there no correct text mapping also.
Can you please help me out with a solution to convert .swf to xaml with retaining individual properties of objects as in .swf file.
the other way converting .swf to other format then to xaml is also okay.
Thank you for your time and help.
Regards,
Soni

  • Convert swf to avi

Hi there, I quite often have to covert a flash to mpg, and
always seem to come across heaps of diff probs exporting avi's
    quicktimes etc to convert.
It would be great to find a program that does a decent job of
coverting either to avi, or stright to mpg.
I've tried a few freeware programs but none have enough
control over the compression process - or they just don't work. So
keen to buy one - but would love some advice on which one to get,
as most dont seem to have a trial version.
If anyones got any names of awesome coverters/ comparison
info/ a point in the right direction that would be great!!!
    Cheers!

Hi there, yeh thanks for that - i've actually downloaded the
trial version but am having probs with the audio - doesnt seem to
    want to convert.
Also i have procoder which i think is supposed to be able to
covert swf files but havnt had any success importing them so far.
If anyone knows anything on this that's b great too!
    Thanks again!

  • Why doesn't Flash have the option to publish to .flv?

Why doesn't Flash or Adobe Media Encoder have the option to publish or covert .swf to .flv?
Any suggestions on free .swf to .flv coverters?

Thanks, kowboy.  I've just seen a few of those video conversion tools that specifically advertise .swf to .flv conversion.  They may degrade the quality and make certain features not work just like when you convert to .avi.  I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of those tools.
I know this is a fairly odd situation.  Both myself and the other flash developer advised that they not use Flash to create 5 min plus videos and then wrap them in .flv flash players.

  • Beginner Question re: SWF files and FLA files

    Hi,
Im new to flash. I have some templates (in FLA format with all supporting files...xml; html; and the swf file). When using html templates, I can modify the content easily by simply adding or changing the text <p>original text</p> to <p>steve custom text</p> and so on.
My issue is Im trying to modify the content of the fla files into a new swf file but do not know how to access the text, background or images the tempalte is currently producing. The timeline at the bottom doesnt show objects and their timelines like the basic tutorials show me.
Is there a way to access the content of of an fla file or perhaps the content of an swf file? I think the swf file is like a jpeg coverted from RAW, meaning its the end product and the source file is where the modify is done.
Am I swimming in the deep with sharks?
    Thanks!

hmm..so if the template ive downloaded depicts a green ball bouncing across an orange  background(swf file). The objects (green ball) and the background (simply overlay colored orange) is embedded into the FLA AS3 code?
not necessarily.  they could be created with code, they could be created with the tools in the fla and they could be loaded bitmaps.
To be clear these objects (in my example: ball and background) are not external jpegs (or similar file type like png) which I can open, edit, then allow the code to access and utilize the new object. For example, change the ball into a square and changes it color to purple and then change the background to pink via PS or illstr.
In short, Im having trouble trying to find the objects which are being manipulated by the code. My current perspective with templates is to modify the image or text by accessing the files delivered with the template. If the .html commands to place image221.jpeg in certain div, I would just open the images files, find image221.jpeg, modifiy the image and then save it as image221.jpeg. Of course I can create a new image save it as steve123.jpeg, save it to the images folder and then modify the code to access the new file by using its new name.
This is what Im trying to accomplish with my flash template but cant find the source objects .
Im getting the impression this cant be done.
    that's almost certainly incorrect.
My final question is then, where are source images or text or movie files stored?
noone can say without direct inspection.
Is it possible they are on third party servers on the web?
    no
Are they imbedded in the code?
    maybe yes, maybe no.
I can only assume if they are stored on my drives (in an external format) that I would be able to access them.
correct.  more specifically, they would have to be in the directory with your embedding html and swf or a subdirectory.
If however, they are on a a third part web site or embedded into the code, then I may be in way over my head.
you can assume this is not the case.
so, open the fla in flash.  click control/test.  click view and make sure bandwidth profiler and streaming graph are checked.  you should then be able to see the main timeline as the swf plays.  note the main timeline frame where you see the object(s) you want to edit.
close the test environment and go to that main timeline frame and start sleuthing to see if the objects were created in flash.  you can also click on the first object in the library and arrow down looking for the object(s) you want to edit to see if they were created without code.  if you find them, note their library name and possibly linkage id or class.  use movie explorer to search for those names.
but, to be sure, it can be very difficult to edit templates.  i've not seen one yet that was made by a competent developer and i've worked on dozens of them.

  • .mov background inside .swf works locally then does not in website???

This is weird. I really hope someone has an answer.
I imported a .mov file into flash then > Covert to symbol > Movie clip then double clicked the movie to go into it. I made all my other layers above the .mov movie base layer.
I made a folder on my desktop with the a inserted.html file to display the published flash (.swf). I used the
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="file.swf" width="218"height="150">
    <param name="movie" value="file.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    </object>
insertion method. Everything was looking good in the local folder. My imported movie was playing in the base layer with my other text & images layers tweening over top.
When I moved the file.swf into the website flash folder & used the same insertion technique. The base movie layer was not appearing anymore.
I tried some different insertion techniques (html) but with the same result.
This is so annoying. I spent hours making my nice flash movie & tested it locally as I went. If someone can shed some knowledge about this quirk I would be happy to buy them a beer.

Make sure you used the right video import method.
Convert your mov to flv and embed it in the timeline.

You don't have a choice, the only video file flash can load
    is FLV.
The only way is the covert the MOV to FLV and dynamically
    load on demand.

  • Converting wmv files into swf files

I have not been using Flash for very long and I have some wmv
files I would like have show up as swf files for a project I am
doing. But I can not find way to covert them over. Is there a way
and if so how. Thanks for any help.

First convert the WMV files to FLV format(Use Flash video
    encoder.)
Import the converted videos to flash.
It is easy to use an FLVPlayBack component with a suitable
skin(controls-can be selected from a list) and given the path/name
    of the converted video(example.flv);

  • Converting FLV/F4V to SWF

    Hello
I'm trying to upload a video to my flash website (www.vishgraphics.com) and i'm having some issues.  I can't seem to upload an FLV/F4V file to my server.  However, I am able to uploaded an swf file, but i can't convert my video file that ins F4V format to swf.  Do i just need to convert the file or are there more detailed steps involved in uploading the video.   Also, if i have to covert the file to swf, can someone please recommend a good software that i can download free from the net.
    thank you
    vish

You probably don't want to change the FLV/F4V to SWF - you may need to embed it in a SWF. If you do find you are able to upload an F4V or FLV, you will still need a SWF to play the video. There is a great article by Tim Siglin on streaming media that goes into FLV/F4V and SWF - http://streamingmedia.com/article.asp?id=11170 that may be a good starting point.

  • How to edit a Animated Gif file and convert to SWF

I am using the creative cloud with fireworks. I chose the free trial with buying in mind if I saw it work properly. I simply want to upload an animated GIF file and then download it as a SWF file. I saw someone on youtube do this and it's not that if I get on the correct page I would not know how to do that but I just cannot find how to get the GIF into the software to edit. It has just simply put them in the creative cloud folder which can open them on IE> How do i make it available to edit and convert to SWF please? Thanks in advance.

  • How can I pubish SWF interactive magazine to flash based website? It's not working!

I hope someone can help me launch my first interactive magazine (SWF) to our website with ID 5. Okay, my hard copy mag came out great so then I started on the interactive edition. Everything was going swell with adding 3 short videos ( FLV  ) and creating 3 slide shows. When I previewed it by exporting to SWF I could preview it in my browser fine. Page curls, fade in words (although the “hide until animated” options only works in two out of about 7 instances. (same settings) file:///C:/Users/lauralaptop/Documents/NEW%20PUBLICATION%20QUARTERLY%20JOURNAL%202011%20se pt%202/LIFE%20apr-may-june%202011%201st%20issue%20INTERACTIVE%20TRYOUT%20Aug%2031%204pm.ht ml
I then followed instructions from another Adobe exercise, exported it to Flash, went to Publish Settings, but of course when I pressed “publish” I didn’t get the same result as the teacher…I got an error message about text. I searched a forum with the same message I got and saw that making sure my text setting was set for Classic, solved someone else’s problem. So I did and was able to “publish”. But now, when I open either the SWF or HTML file, it’ just rapidly repeating the 12 pages in my file in a loop!
    file:///C:/Users/lauralaptop/Desktop/LIFE%20apr-may-june%202011%201st%20issue%20INTERACTIV E%20TRYOUT%20Aug%2031%204pm.html
I have spent most of the summer self teaching myself InDesign CS5 (not easy!) and am excited to be able to put out an interactive SWF file that can be opened in a Flash player through our Flash based website. I feel like I’m just inches away for launch but now I’m getting frustrated. Isn’t this going to be possible?
Also, when I publish it in Flash, it creates a SWF file AND an HTML file. But on our website, I have only one option to make a link to a document OR an outside link to open a file. How does that work?
Many thanks for whoever can help me out here. This was supposed to be a spring issue. Had to change it to summer and now I guess it’s a fall launch!

Thank you for your quick reply, Rob. Well, i can't open the link you gave me to mysite (got a 404 error), could you resend it?
Originally, I exported the file to SWF (player) and just tried to link that file from our flash based website. It opens fine, page curls fine, slide shows fine, but when you click on the photos with videos, page 5 (father and baby) and two others, the image disappears and only a white comes up to fill that area.
http://scpres.org/#/media-sermons-online/our-publications. Could you go to this link on our website to see what I mean? Go to the NEWSBREAK TRANSFORMS and click on the Life, Stories of Transformation.
Rob, here is where i have very limited knowledge: As I said we use a flash based (read very user friendly) web hosting company. When I am in the back end to upload the swf file, I have only one option  - "attach a video, attach a document, attach a link" so how would I upload a "folder" with more than one item to the server?
I thought it would be considered a video since the SWF file says SWF movie, but when I when i try to upload as a video, it doesn't come up as importable. (am i sounding really stupid?) Maybe I should admit that yes, I'm an ID5 newbie AND yes,  I'm no spring chicken but I have been working in CS2,3,4 for several years and now 5 and am quite proficient in the create aspect of Adobe products. It's just now the technical part about how to actually get my  in work published to the site. There isn't anyone else in my company able to help me so I have to reach out to this forum!
I love ID and this is just my first effort but I'm looking forward to creating many more interactive magazines for my company.
    Thanks for any help.

  • AS3: How to create one base class for classes loaded in multiple swfs?

Our application have 3 different modules and all use
fscommand and ExternalInterface alot. Now the problem is we are
combining all those modules, but they all will reside in different
swfs. Is there any way that they extend to same base class and its
static members have only one instance accessible by all
    three?

    Hi,
You can achieve this via Workshop 9.2 by using the exported Ant script for your project as follows:
-Ensure that all Jars needed to resolve com.bea.p13n.property.EntityPropertyManager (this particular class is found in weblogic92/common/p13n/lib/p13n_ejb.jar) and all referenced classes are added to the Java build path for your WebLogic EJB project (Properties->Java Build Path->Libraries)
-Export the "Workshop Ant Script" for your WebLogic EJB project (File->Export->Workshop Ant Script); this will generate a "build.xml" Ant script under your project root directory.
-Edit this default build script as follows: in the call to the "ejbgen" task within the "build" target, add the attribute: propertyFile="ejbgen.properties"
-Create a file "ejbgen.properties" under the root of your WebLogic EJB project and add the following entry:
    YourSessionBeanClassName.remote.baseClass=com.bea.p13n.property.EntityPropertyManager
-Add a "<path refid="java.classpath"/>" within the "<classpath>" for the "java" task element that calls "weblogic.ejbc" (this will ensure that the p13n classes are resolved by EJBC)
Follow the instructions for executing the Ant build script found here: http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs92/ws_platform/ideuserguide/conUseCustomAntBuild.html
For more information on the EJBGen property file support, see: http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs92/ejb/EJBGen_reference.html

  • XML not loading in SWF

Please, please someone help. I have been at this for days and can't see the woods for the trees any more.
I have a swf embedded in a htm file. I pass FlashVars to it with a view to setting colours for symbols already in the swf.
No matter what I do I simply cannot get the xml loaded. Can someone help and have a look at the following code and tell me where I am going wrong.
I am using Flash CS4/AS 3. The default class is com.main and all .AS files are located in a folder 'com' within the root. All fla. .swf and  .xml files are located in the root.

  • Inherited UserControl can not find XAML defined elements

    Hello,
As the title suggests, I have a UserControl, called "DashboardControl", that is used across all of our games in a project that is shared among the games. In each of our projects we have a uniquely defined Dashboard.XAMLs that is specific to that
    project.
This works fine for all of our projects but now I need to add some additional functionality unique to one project so I created a new UserControl called "GameSpecificDashboardControl" that inherits from the Dashboard. I changed the XAML so that
it references the GameSpecificDashboardControl as it's view model. Unfortunately, whenever I call a Storyboard from the GameSpecificDashboardControl, I get the following error:
"WinDisplay" name can not be found in name scope of GameSpecificDashboardControl
In short, my GameSpecific is calling a Storyboard (which can be found) but the storyboard is trying to change an element that can not be found. What doesnt make sense is that not only is WinDisplay clearly defined in the XAML, but Snoop also shows the WinDisplay
exists, as well as looping through the visual tree shows that WinDisplay exists.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give on this issue, I'm lost on ideas at this point.
NOTE: If I move the 'sbBigWinIntro' & 'sbBigWinEnd' code to the 'PART_SBWinTickerIntro' & 'PART_SBWinTickerEnd' storyboards, I get no error. Unfortunately I need these animations to execute under certain conditions so keeping them
in the PART_ storyboards doesnt work for me.
NOTE2: The PART_ storyboards mentioned above are called in the base DashboardControl which I can not include in this post.
Below are the XAML and code-behind files:

I agree with Barry - inheriting xaml is a problem.
I think there is technically a way to sort of inherit xaml you put in app.xaml.  But I think that's a bad plan and I think the technique may well rely on a bug. Maybe it doesn't even work now - it's been a while since I read about it.
I'm also not so clear on what you're trying to do here.
I must admit I haven't spent very long trying to work out what that all that markup and code does though.
The three approaches I would consider are:
    1)
Inherit just the code and substitute views completely.
    This is Barry's suggestion.
    2)
Make a templated contentcontrol which you can put your variable stuff inside.
    Kind of like this:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/28597.wpf-keeping-your-mvvm-views-dry.aspx
    3)
Compose the xaml from flat templates.
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Dynamic-XAML-View-Composer-8d9fa5d6
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Dynamic-XAML-Composed-View-e087f3c1
Which to use depends on purpose.
    Hope that helps.

  • Unable to play audio stream in a swf file

Making a swf file that reacts like a button: it plays sound
when you pass over it. Or should play. When the button keyframes
sound options are set to "start" or "event", there is no problem,
it works well. But it doesn't work if I set to "stream". My
original file is an mp3. Is there something special avout it? Help
tutorials didn't help me so far...

With "stream" you have to make sure there are enough frames
in the movie to play the whole sound file. Try adding some frames
and see if it plays then.

  • Detail Region as TOC for captivate (.swf) files

    Hi All,
Not sure how to explain this, but i will do my best. I didnt like the TOC/Aggregator for CP 5. Thinking maybe to use Spry data using the Detail Region sample. I thought it would be simple to just combine the Detail Region code with the publsihed .swf and .htm code. But not sure what im doing wrong or if this is even possible to do. I was experimenting just using the exact same code and xml for Detail Region sample and modifying it a bit. See below...
    Appreciate the Help! Thank you.
