CPU Monitoring of AIX servers through OMW

HI All,
Can you please let me know how can we monitor the CPU Utilization of AIX servers through OMW. I have created a template and deployed on all the AIX servers, but the problem is it is working fine on some of the servers (alerting one's the threshold level is exceeded) but is not alerting for some servers even though the agent is working fine on those.
Please let me know what can be the validations I can do to ensure monitoring is working fine for all the AIX servers.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Arvinder

After spending more time researching I think I have found a solution:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2013/06/22/opsmgr-2012-hyper-v-management-pack-extensions-published.aspx
http://hypervmpe2012.codeplex.com/
This Hyper-V MP addresses the monitoring of servers using dynamic resources and it looks to also contain optional performance counters for reporting. No reports only dashboards are included. Will need to create these from scratch.
Anyone use this MP? any feedback?
Cheers,
Martin

  • Can we Monitor third party Windows servers through Cisco Prime

    Hi Team,
We are  using  Cisco Prime assurance and  are currently monitoring Cisco UCCE Components through it.
Meanwhile we have   few third party  windows servers , which we would like to monitor it through Cisco Prime , just to maintain a single monitoring tool.
If yes, please share the steps or link. Also highlight the limitations in that.
    Regards,
    krishna

Seems Cisco Prime Assurance Manager is now obsolete and end of life already.
It is replaced by Cisco Prime Infrastructure. CPI supports third party/vendor devices to some minimum extent with limited management details collected via SNMP Templates.

  • How to monitor all SAP Server through solution Manager?

    Dear Friends,
How to monitor all SAP Server through solution Manager?
Is it possible if yes then how? Please forward configuration and transaction also.
Please help me as early as possible..
    Thanks,

    Hi sachin,
You can monitor your sattilite systems through solution manager.
If you want to monitor systems in solution manager means you need to configure those systems in solution manager.
Before including the systems in solution manager we need to create a solution using tcode <b>DSWP</b>.
After that you can include the systems using tcode <b>SMSY</b>.
For configuring the systems we have lot of phases its very difficult to explain here.
Try to login to<b> service.sap.com</b> and <b>help.sap.com</b> find the helpfull guides.
i hope it will help you.
    any issues post it.

    nmStart('twpserver1')
Please provide the solution, how to solve this issue.
    Thanks
    SRK

Just at first glance, it seems as though you have one or more configuration issues, perhaps inconsistencies between the node manager server configuration files and the domain's config.xml
    nmConnect('weblogic', 'w3bl0g1c', 'ukirt156', '5556', 'twp_domain', '/appl/weblogic/oracle/middleware/user_projects/domains/twp_domain', 'plain')
    nmStart('twpserver1')
implies that tmp_domain is configured in /appl/weblogic/oracle/middleware/user_projects/domains, (which is the default from the configuration wizard). However, the node manager and server output logs make it seem like it's trying to use a domain in the directory /appl/weblogic/scripts. Not sure how that happened, perhaps you had two domains? Perhaps copied or moved the domain files? Something else?
In any case, start by checking out your nodemanager.domains file and ensure that it reflects your intended domain directory.

  • Monitoring Physical standby database through OEM

    HI ,
We are monitoring Physical standby database through OEM and we monitor from console using SYS user
As per our company policy we change our sys password every month so after change it we need to change SYS password from console also
so is any way we can change SYS password on console using command line utility? if yes then please give us the command
    Thanks

we monitor from console using SYS userYou have to monitor it using a SYSDBA user not necessarily SYS. So you can create a user e.g. SYS_MONITOR which has different policy than SYS. Although it is best to change that password on regular bases too, maybe every 3 months.
so is any way we can change SYS password on console using command line utility?I don't get your question. Are you asking if it is possible to change the monitoring username/password using some command line utility? If so, I haven't heard of such tool. But there could be a package like MGMT_TARGET which you can manipulate the credentials if you know how to use it.

  • Tyring to access remote Files present in AIX server through  windows ODI

    Hi all,
I need to access remote file structure , present in AIX server through my
window ODI client .But I am unable to create file Data Store for the same.
It's showing error that "schema does not exist".
please suggest me how to resolve this problem
    regards
    palash,

    HI Julien,
    It's really working ..........
    Thanx a lot
For other people it will be helpfull info
Only change that I have made for that task are
    1. I have created an new agent for that AIX machine
    2. I have updated the ODIPARAM.bat
    3. I have changed record separator as UNIX while creating data store for that file
    4. While executing particular interface ,I have used the agent which is local to AIX machine ..................
    Steps for execution:
At the time of designing you must have local copy of that file so that you can perform your mapping once it's executing well wid your local or no agent .
then come to the Topology manager change the location for that folder in physical schema declaration of that file server of AIX machine.
Now execute the same wid ur AIX agent u have created earlier..............
while U have changed the data store location from local directory to other AIX directory don't try to reverse the same otherwise u'll get "Execution query failed "or file not found kinda error as because odi system system searching local systems file.................
Julien can u provide me ur mail Id so that I can contact U for further assistance ofcourse
    if u want................
    regards

I know that I need to plan and tune well the initial production setup so it will work good, and all the

It this regard, can you share be "best practices" documentation in installing and configuring the initial PROD setup of Oracle Database 11.2.0.3.
Do I recommend to install the lastest patch 11.2.0.4?
What others things to consider to achieve a successful well tuned and best performance for and initial setup? (aside from following the install guide)
    Thanks a lot,

The same "best practices" as for setting up a TEST database, which you should do first.
There is no reason NOT to start with 11.2.0.4.
I know that I need to plan and tune well the initial production setup so it will work good, and all the

If your application suite is poorly written, don't expect a "perfect" setup of the database to work miracles.

  • Automated load monitoring of WLE servers

    This is about WLE 5.x.
The psr command (at the tmadmin prompt) comes in handy for monitoring loads on
servers in a WLE domain. However its drawback is it's interactive. This command
can't be wrapped in a script (to my knowledge) and scheduled to run periodically
to compute load stats. Does anybody know how to do this?
Per the WLE documentation, pretty much everything that can be done from command
line can also be done using a Tuxedo API from a program. Has anybody tried writing
such programs (e.g. a better admin gui) to gather the load stats of servers in
a domain? The documentation says precious little on this topic.
    Thanks,
    -Abhijeet

    Hi,
I think I have a solution for you, for UNIXs, anyway. In a Korn shell window, or
possibly a cron job, if you do the following:
    prompt> echo psr | tmadmin >> psr.out
the "tmadmin" command will run with the "psr" command and then exit, leaving the
output in a file called "psr.out". Although I haven't scripted this, I have used it
and the "printqueue" command to monitor a running WLE system. A co-worker wrote a C++
program to sum the coloums of the output files, giving reasonable statistics over
time. If you script this in Perl or Ksh, please post for us!

can't be wrapped in a script (to my knowledge) and scheduled to run periodically
to compute load stats.

  • Cpu monitoring programs various results, HWmonitor giving really high recordings!

Probably see these questions all the time sorry for asking!
Ive used a few different cpu monitoring programs (speed fan , core temp ) and all of them so far have reported similar results around 30 to 40 idle and 50-65 under load which im happy with, but i tried out hw monitor and it says cpu temps 80-90 C just idle!
    Is this right?
I thought just to be on the safe side I cleaned out the inside of the laptop and put some arctic silver 5 on as its only had the stock thermal compound , but there was hardly any dust and putting the arctic silver didn't make too much of a difference, the stock compound didn't look to dried up, only dropped a few degrees, but the temps in hw monitor were still high 80's.
I also noticed that core temp changes its temp when i have hw monitor running , for example core temp will be reporting temps of 30-40C and when i start hw monitor the core temp changes its temp to the same as hw monitor around 80C.
Im using the latest version of hw monitor is there maybe a bug?
and can you access cpu temp in the bios of a hp i had a quick look but i couldnt find it?
I also was going to buy a cooling stand , I was thinking of the cooler master u3 ? good choice or any other recommendations
And if anyone knows any other reliable cpu monitoring programs would be great!
sorry for the long message i thought i would try be as detailed as I can, il post my basic specs underneath if anyone can help out I would really really appreciate it!
    Thank you
    hp pavillion g6 2006 ax
    amd dual core a6-4400m 2.6ghz/3ghz
    8gb upgraded ram ddr3
2gb dedicated graphics 3gb with dual enabled thing i think?
    500gb hdd
if you want any screen shots or any more info let me know , i really appreciate any help !
Also thought i would add that the laptop is normally really cool underneath the cpu/gpu area and blows out cold air this is why im so confused with hwmonitors readings ? and the fan is running normally only goes fast when im gaming.

Over analysis leads to paralysis. If the laptop runs cool, it ain't broke so there is nothing to fix. You are right to be concerned about operating temps on any AMD laptop but as long as a good volume of cool air is coming out you are golden. There is no temperature monitor in the BIOS and many of the hardware monitors designed for desktops do not work with laptops or are flaky and wrong. But even the temps reported by hw monitor (actually an excellent piece of software, generally) are not overly concerning. If the output from the vent gets real hot and the fan runs constantly "pedal to the metal", then you have something to worry about. Enjoy your laptop. Oh, and the usb cooler you mention is a good one.

  • Solaris cpu monitoring

Does anyone have document available for Solaris 10 CPU monitoring.  Particularly, I want to alert when CPU goes to 10, not 95%.
    Thanks...

The threshold can be changed with an override.  In the Operations Console's Authoring Pane, expand Management Pack Objects\Monitors. Find the monitor named: "Total Percent Processor Time" that is targeted to Solaris X Operating System (where X is the
version).  Override this monitor and set the threshold value to your desired threshold.

  • Cpu monitor?

What is a good cpu monitor for an AMD APU that reports thread frequency and core temp in the system tray or in a widget?

    Hi,
    Personally I use this software:
    http://dennisbabkin.com/ctm/
But for system tray there aren't many pieces of software that will say anything like you want. Best is to simply use CPU-Z and MSI Command Center for CPU monitoring, and Afterburner (I guess it works for APU?)

  • K9A2 plat hardware, CPU monitoring-advice needed please

    Hi,
It seems that the MSI's "dualcore center" does not accurately displays CPU temp, normally it shows CPU temp. at lower than room temp.
Also sometimes dual-core-center freeze/hangup other programs as well.
With that being said,  I am looking for advice/recommendation as to what program to use to monitor CPU temps; something that would show in the task bar, show current temp., and does not hog up lot of resources.
    thanks

Oh yes... got to pay more attention to the spell checker.
Ironic.... I come here for technical advice and I get a lesson in spelling.    thanks Frankenputer. Furthermore ironic the fact is that I claim that I am not obsessed, yet I keep coming back here too read /learn more. May be it is not an obsession but an addiction. I am just a newbie here, some of you have post count  above 1K. Hee-heeee..
Fredric, you mention bios is the most accurate, but you can't access it during a game play or application use.
The only time I see bios info is when I boot. (yes boot  no need to correct.... boot=  as in pressing the power "ON" button to begin PC operation) it would not be a good monitoring tool.

There is room , I am just not satisfied the way it is mounted. A huge, heavy heatsink hanging out to the side which is supported by the MOBO, now you hang another object(fan) on the heatsink; just like hanging weight on the end of a lever. Then you spin up the  fan and let it vibrate, these cheap fans not balanced as they should be.  An air tunnel or duct system would be a much better way to bring airflow to a heat sink, better than hanging a fan on it.
Normal way  of mounting works of course. I am just testing to see if there is a better way. I am using a fan, just mounting it elsewhere.
Products engineered certain way because size, cost, or compatibility issues. Not necessarily to be most efficient.
My corsair TX750 PSU a good example.  A fan is mounted inside; size and compability issue.
So the engineers put a 140 mm fan on the bottom(inside),  blocked half of its airflow with a plastic shield so air is moved to the back, though and out.
I removed the fan and the airflow blocking plastic piece, mounted fan on outside of  PSU. Airflow has nearly doubled. I am sure it runs cooler too.  A slight mod to the case was necessary. Now I sleep better at night  (kiddding)
This PSU (unmodified) in an Antec P182 case barely moved any air through it. I ended up selling the the antec 182.

  • How to monitor if portal access through browser is down

I would like to catch the alert before users report Web site not
accessible(HTTP 404). I'm thinking of an unix cron job. But what
should I querry to check the status of Portal?

In case you are still looking for responses to your question --
We've been using a product called "WhatsUp Gold" from Ipswitch
    Inc. (http://www.ipswitch.com/products/whatsup/) to do
monitoring like this for the past few weeks, and so far it's
worked very well. I put a few simple "monitoring" pages on our
web servers to return the status of each of the services, then
we poll these pages every 60 seconds. If we don't get the
expected response back from any of these queries, WhatsUp sends
out emails and pages telling us what machine and what service is
    down.
So far I'm polling the basic HTML service, the database
connection (mod_plsql), the servlet service, JSP, and am working
on a way to poll our report server engines and cluster
machines. (I took the "poll exactly one and only one service at
a time" approach so whenever something crashes (usually no more
than once or twice a day... <sigh>), I know exactly what piece
    went down.)

  • Second monitor nor being detected through dvi-d port

Hi I have a Hp s5610y slimline. Windows 7 64 bit . It is a newer system with 3 ghz ram and over 600 g.b ram so I know it is not a performance issue, (system handling the duty) I am trying to hook up dual monitors, the product specs page on H.P states that the Vga and Dvi -d ports can both be used at the same time. I have the dvi-d converter to vga hooked up to a monitor through the Vga port on one computer ( that is not working). The port from Vga to vga works fine( the first monitor. I already check the easy stuf like "enabling dual monitor", unplugging the monitor, updating the lastest driver for radeon 3000 and restarting windows. I hooked up two monitors before with no problems. Any ideas out there?
    Thanks,
    Manny

    >I have the dvi-d converter to vga ....
    This will never work!
vga is an analog signal, dvi-d is digital.
Only dvi-a or dvi-i can convert to analog vga.
    Check the diferencies here:

Either graphics card or monitor can't recognize each other.
