Crash on Publish
I've been having a great deal of trouble lately when
publishing my movies. After the swf file has been created and
captivate is supposed to update the cp file, Captivate shuts down
completely. Now it has gotten worse, where my last movie will not
open. Captivate acts like it's opening it (progress bar advances),
but then it goes back to the main menu. When I try to close
Captivate, it prompts me to save the file. If I click yes, it hangs
up. If I click No, then it shuts down. When I open a new project
and try to import the slides from the crashed movie, it will open
the movie and show the slides, but each one shows to import to
slide 1 and it is ghosted so I can't change it. I tried importing a
single slide and again it acts like it is importing, but the slide
never appears in the list. I tried searching for this issue in the
forums, but couldn't find anyone else that had this problem.
I have a somewhat similar problem. A captivate project that I
cannot open to edit.
The file name/path is not an issue as it is on a local drive,
is quite short and there are other projects in the same folder with
longer names that work.
One difference between this project and those others is that
the .cp file is quite large at around 10MB - the project is only
around 8 frames with audio.
It published fine originally (few days ago) and I can run the
.swf OK.
When I try to open it the loading timeline runs, there is no
complaint or error message but the project does not appear - we
stay at the captivate opening screen, the project file name appears
in the status bar and in the title bar but I cannot actually get to
it to view or edit.
When I try opening a blank project and importing it, the
import actually shows all the slides, lets me go through the
motions of importing one or all of them but again, nothing appears.
I guess that the project is corrupted somehow but I don't
want to have to start all over.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Regards, Peter

Has anyone else run into this problem?
I have an HTML5 widget that depends on certain (small) image files.
When I try to wrap those image files in the oam.xml file via the <requires> tag, the widget places on the Captivate stage just fine, but Captivate crashes on publish.
Remove the <requires> elements (but leave the empty tag) and it publishes just fine, but the images don't make it into the published folder.

Flash 8 crashes when publishing (Mac 10.3.9)
I've searched the forums and haven't found an instance that
is relevant enough to my situation.
Pretty basic, really. I have a registered version of Flash
and I go to publish. Not doing anything crazy with the publish
settings. The document I'm working on isn't immense or overly
complex, either.
It gets about 1/3 or 1/2 through publishing it, then crashes
(i.e., "The application Flash has unexpectedly quit.").
This is part of the message that my OS sends to Apple...
"Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x0e8e8d9e"
What's all that about?
From what I've read, Flash is a bit buggy (hit & miss)
with this whole crashing thing.
Anybody have any links or idears on how to get this fixed (or
at least working better/more reliably)?
I've repaired permissions, run Onyx (i.e., deleted system
cache, etc. etc.), restarted, updated, repaired permissions,
restarted. . .
In a pickle...
Can some kind soul help me out? I hate pickles...
Thanks,
-jWell, I talked to Adobe support last night for about an hour
and this is the scoop. Evidently, I was only having problems with
one of my documents. I was able to successfully publish a different
document. I was also able to save it, too. This document, however,
was much simpler than the one I was having problems with.
In my troublesome document, I had imported some .swf
animations that I had exported from ImageReady. I didn't realize
that Flash creates a .swf library symbol,
and two library instances of
each frame (a bitmap and a movieclip symbol).
I realized that I had many, many duplicates and duplicates of
duplicates. My document had become ridiculously huge (~227MB). I
deleted all those instances, re-imported the .swf file and got my
file size down to about 77MB. I was now able to save my document,
but I still couldn't publish it.
So, the support guy told me to go into "Publish Settings",
click on the "Formats" tab and deselect "HTML". Click the publish
button at the bottom of the dialogue window and presto! It
published (albeit without the HTML file).
That's about where it ended. The support guy couldn't figure
out why this document was crashing Flash when trying to publish
both the .swf
and .html files. He recommended a work-around of creating
the HTML file in Dreamweaver. I had already been hand-coding the
html file as a work-around, so that's where we left it.
So, this is what I learned:
1. Repair permissions, run Onyx & clear your system cache
(don't have Onyx for 10.3.x? You can download the
zip
file. You need admin access. Be careful with it, you can screw
up your computer. Be conservative with the settings. Use at your
own risk).
if this doesn't solve it, then:
2. Make sure you're up-to-date on your system software, Flash
software, and Flash player. Repair permissions again after updating
any software.
if this doesn't solve it, then:
3. Go to Users > username > Library > Application
Support > Macromedia and rename the Flash 8 folder as "Flash 8
old". Flash will create a new folder when you load it (it's an app
preference folder). You may delete "Flash 8 old" if this solution
doesn't end up really screwing things up (or you can delete it if
it fixes your problem). If this solution does end up creating
problems (or if you had certain settings you just can't lose),
delete the new "Flash 8" folder and rename "Flash 8 old" to "Flash
8".
If it still doesn't work, re-evaluate your .fla:
4. Limit the size and complexity of your .fla (delete
superfuous library instances)
5. Library instances can become corrupt, leading to a crash
(delete suspect ones, re-create them)
6. Fonts can become corrupt, leading to a crash (validate
your fonts)
7. Importing .swf files into your .fla file is iffy, due to
different compression(?) settings. This could be the culprit in my
circumstance. I may try doing a loadmovie deal on it at some
point... when I figure out where/when it could be loaded in the
background.
7. Publish your .fla without the .html document.
If all else fails and your Flash app just ain't workin', here
are instructions for uninstalling the studio (and it appears,
individual applications):

Anyone else getting crashes with their Adobe apps in OS X
10.5.6? Illustrator CS3 just crashed on me when trying to open a
PDF and Flash is crashing on me, inconsistently, when I try to
publish. I can open the same file and publish sometimes, sometimes
it crashes on publish.
Anyone? Bueller? ThanksYou realize, of course, that the "you" referred to in your
post is not Adobe. This is a user-to-user forum. If you're unhappy
with Adobe policy, write to them directly. The likelihood of anyone
from Adobe with any influence reading this forum or this post is
next to null.
That said, as a Flash user since 2000, I'm flabbergasted at
the attitude that Flash is somehow "perfect" upon release and no
bugs exist. I was hoping this policy would change when Adobe bought
Macromedia, since Adobe tends to release a few patches for each of
its major apps as bugs are uncovered.
But alas, no hope. I once cornered one of the leaders of the
Flash development team at an official Macromedia event a couple
years ago and brought this up. He replied that they "need to focus
all their resources on developing the next release." I had to
withhold myself from being really rude in response. -
I have mac book pro 10.5 Leopard
Have just started using iweb and have small site of about 5 pages, plus blog. I have yet been able to publish, each time I try iweb crashes and receive following note -
The application iweb quite unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the FTPKit Plug-in.
I have tried a few troubleshooting methods recomended on other threads, ie. deleting caches, copying domain and reboots... but no luck.
Any help very much appreciated.Reinstall iWeb from the source you got it from originallhy. Or, if you're running iWeb 3 download and apply or reapply the iWeb 3.0.4 updater. It included that plugin.

Crashed While Publishing - No Site, Space Taken
Hey,
I'm needing some help. Just upgraded to a normal .Mac Account, and proceeded to publish my site through iWeb.
Anyway... it crashed near the end of publishing. The "circle" beside the site name was full, but didn't get the Announce Message, it just closed the application.
I relaunched it, the site was all listed in red - meaning unpublished... so I checked the space taken and its took the space for the site 307MB (ok nothing to overreact by) but WHY?
How do I delete this?I suggest you try republishing via File > Publish All to .Mac and see if your site will then come up:

I just upgraded from iWeb 1.1.2 to 2.0 and when I try to publish my site - with no changes to the site from how it was before the upgrade - iWeb crashes. I've tried it multiple times, all with the same result.
It seems I am not alone in experiencing this, but I'm wondering if anyone has found any solutions to this issue? Looks like I'll be giving Apple a call in the morning.
Thanks,
M&CMine too
It creates the pages but never reaches the upload to .mac stage, it just crashes with no warning. It will publish to a folder with no errors.

Flash CC crashes after publishing iOS app + publish settings are not being saved to file
I have two issues:
1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
Since yesterday Flash CC keeps crashing right after I publish an iOS app. The app is published correctly though. I tried everything from restarting my MAC, reinstalling Flash, removing the folder "Flash CC 2014" inside Application Support/Adobe. But all this did not work.
2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
Since the first day I installed Flash CC, it did not save my publish settings along with the .fla-file. I never had this issue with Flash CS 5.5. This was not a very big issue, but now every time I publish an app and Flash CC crashes I have to fill in all the publish settings manually. Now I'm getting frustrated. Even saving my settings as a preset, storing it inside a folder and importing it again, won't help. Then I will get the message: "Import failed: invalid profile file."
Can please anyone help me with these issues? It is quite time consuming to continuously enter the settings manually after every crash.

Ok, this is an odd one: I have Flash CS3 and was editing a
file. I'd published it loads of times and then came back to it. As
soon as I tried to publish it, flash crashed. I'm now left with a
version of Flash where I can create a new file and publish without
a problem ... but ... if I save the file and then attempt to
publish it, flash crashes.
Also, if I open a saved file; and then right click on a
frame; then select 'actions', flash crashes ... but ... if I create
a new file, then right click on a frame, actions opens properly.
Adobe have had this for a week now and still no resolution
other than making me re-install the whole thing.
Does anyone else have a suggestion (or a fix!)?
Thanks in advance.
MikeI'm also getting the ill-fated publish/crash bug after having
published a Flash file numerous times. I've also done a complete
uninstall/reinstall of Flash and no luck. Seems to allow me to
publish smaller files, but the one FLA file that crashes is about
20MB.
Have a very visible client who absolutely needs the site
updated tomorrow and it's looking bleak right now... -
RoboHelp 9 Crashes When Publishing From Framemaker 10
Hello,
I am attempting to publish my Framemaker 10 doc in Robohelp 9. When I click publish, RoboHelp launches, and then quickly crashes while it says it's "loading components".
Both products are part of the TechComm Suite.
Anyway, it doesn't matter if I choose HTML Help, Adobe Air, WebHelp, for Flashhelp...this problem surfaces in exactly the same way.
The installation and output folders are all located on my local machine.
I can go to my Robohelp project and import my FM Book and get it to generate from there, but the problem with this approach is that it imports all of the xref references with each TOC entry, so this is unusable and impractical to edit by hand.
Is there an error log saved somewhere, so I can get more details on when exactly the application is crashing? Not sure what you mean if you go into RH and import it – that’s basically what publishing is doing in FM. Have you set up a project and saved off the setting in the .isf file first? I believe you need to do that before the publish option really works.
-
When I go to publish, either into .mac, or a folder iWeb crashes. When I go to use the inspector, iWeb crashes... What gives? I used it once before and it was fine, that was about 6 wks ago.
I need it to get a site up for my sister's wedding today.
HELP!
MAcBookPro 15", 2gbrm,10.4.x Mac OS X (10.4.6)The the following sampling of things that have been suggested in the past. Any one of these things might help, since there are so many reasons why this might be happening.
1. Delete your iWeb preferences file at
Users/yourname/library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist
2. Repair permissions on your startup disk with Disk Utility
3. Restart your computer.
Good luck. -
Cp 5 crashes during publishing of large projects
I have large Captivate 5 projects with 300-450 slides divided into 2 to 4 slide groups. When I publish the SWF file, the publishing process always freezes at 70% and the application crashes (can't hit Cancel in the progress window ).
This is not due to any particular file; many of my large projects run into this problem.
This is probably not due to a particular slide since all the projects freeze at 70% and I can publish each slide group in its own project without any trouble.
The projects are straightforward demonstrations; no quizzing.
Scouring the net I've had trouble finding a resolution to the problem. I use Captivate 5.0.3.631
Hoping for ideas. Thanks for reading
-Patrick
PS.
I've tried:
> In publish dialog "Advanced Options", to enable "force re-publish all the slides"
> In Preferences > "SWF Size and Quality", to disable "Advanced Project Compression"
> In Preferences > "SWF Size and Quality", to disable "Compress SWF File"
> In Preferences > "SWF Size and Quality", to enable "Compress Full Motion Recording SWF file"
> to remove the slide groups and leave the slides ungrouped
> In Publish dialog, to publish as .f4v instead of swf
> to hide all the slides in a slide group in order to reduce the publish SWF to 200 or 250 slides.
None of these have worked.Vikranth --
Through process of elimination, I have found the offending slide -- Slide 55 in the Captivate 5 version, which incorporates several fill-in-the-blank questions. When I hide that one slide, everything previews and/or publishes as it should. I had my colleague test her original Captivate 4 version in Captivate 4, and that slide worked just fine (it is however a slightly later slide number) -- the entire project previewed as expected. I then had her import her orginal file into Captivate 5 and do the same thing, and it crashed for her as well.
So, it must be something about the way that particular slide is setup that screws up somehow in the conversion from a Captivate 4 file to a Captivate 5 file. I'll just handle that question differently to fix the issue at hand, but do you have any idea why this problem might have occured in the first place? It seems that the patch didn't correct this situation as it corrected most of the other Captivate 4 to Captivate 5 issues.
Thanks to everyone for their help. I had to play detective and isolate the issue, and haven't solved it, but at least now I have a starting point to try and do the slide in a different way to work around the issue. -

Flash Professional CS5.5 crashes while publishing for iOS
Greetings,
I'm having the same problem as is detailed in the forum post below from March 8th:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/972499
The problem is that Flash Professional CS5.5 crashes every time I try to publish my 'Hello World' project for iOS. The crash happens anytime I press the OK or Publish buttons while configuring the iOS Settings. This is the tutorial I am attempting to complete:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/iphone/WS789ea67d3e73a8b2-240138de1243a7725e7-7ffc.html
I sent a crash report to adobe, which I could duplicate if that helps.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,

IWeb 08 keeps crashing while publishing to a FOLDER
Been searching the forum regarding the constant iWeb issues when trying to publish. My initial problem was a rss site error when I tried to publish my blog to my .mac account. After an hour with Apple support, the problem seemed to fix itself.
Now my new problem: After I have created a few new pages on my website, iWeb 08 crashes while trying to publish to a folder. My site domain is on a different server than my .mac blog; so I have to use Transmit to update my site. For some reason, iWeb 08 freezes while publishing to a folder. I thought maybe it was due to the Google AdSense additions, but even after I deleted the pages, recreated the pages without the ad box, it repeats the same error.
Now, I have not added any content other than a text box (no cut or paste).
Any ideas? Is this just a glitch in iWeb that will be fixed in a later update? Very frustrating.I have a very similar problem. Sometimes when I try to publish my website to a folder iWeb 08 freezes while exporting the Blog Summary page. ... at least that's what the statusbar says. Somebody else in this forum said that one should do the usual things (repair volume/permissions, do a restart) and referenced to a macfixit article for which you need a subscription (which I don't have).
So I did everything he wrote and even ran the maintainance scripts. After creating a new blog entry publishing worked a few times. Now that I changed my last entry 2 or 3 times and always published the site successfuly to a folder, publishing freezes again at the summary page.
When I get home from work I will try to repair the volume again (last time there was aminor volume header error). Running the maintainance scripts, rebooting and creating a new entry didn't work so far.
PS: I don't use AdSense... all I habe is one google map, a youtube video and a few java scripts and iframes on several pages. The entries that I added/changed before publishing froze only containes text and pictures.
