  • Concept of variable-free programming.

Can anyone clearly explain the "concept of variable-free programming",
in Object Oriented Programming with a sample code.
    Thank you very much

    Google says:
["variable-free programming" found in Google search|http://books.google.com/books?id=Sz4fsW1CMrIC&pg=PA390&lpg=PA390&dq=concept+of+%22variable-free+programming%22&source=bl&ots=k2E1ea0ENf&sig=zl2lsjo5V-bdXuJvaGEhSjStiZw&hl=en&ei=3avVSfT3FKaMtgOxr72sCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5#PPA391,M1]
Bottom of page 390 to top of page 391. It's a C# book, but the accessor (getter and setter) concept is certainly used in Java. The whole paragraph could be applied to Java. [Google's book search doesn't let you cut-and-paste the full paragraph, and I don't feel like typing it all myself. ;) ]
Google finds the term elsewhere, too.
That said, I've certainly never heard the term (and, obviously, the other people in the thread haven't heard it, either).

  • How can I use an Access front end and Access button to control a LabView Shared variable boolean?

My company has invested a lot of money on the office network to write many many access databases and front ends. I'm looking for a way to tie a button on an access front end to toggle a LabView boolean shared variable to notify me when they changed something on their side of the network. I'm not seeing anything that helps on a web or forum search. They don't like the idea of a separate labview control that they have to push a button on to let me know.
    Thanks

    Hi Patrick,
While this is not the intended purpose of Network-Published Shared Variables, you might be able to accomplish this by writing separate accessor VIs for reading from and writing to the variable, making sure to wire the inputs and outputs. Then, you could build a DLL, making sure that you include the accessor VIs as Exported VIs and include the DLL Library in the Always Included section of the DLL Build Specifications. During this process, you will define the function prototype, which will provide the function call, required parameters, and return values. Once the DLL is created, you can then call it and its functions from another programming language (C, C++, C#, VB, etc.). This may or may not work, but it is the only way that I can think of at this point. I have included some references that may help you in this process.

  • How to convert variables on program to shared variables?

Hi I want the controls and indicators of an already existing programs to be available on the Data Dashboard of a tablet/phone. What are the steps to follow if I want to convert them into shared variables so that I can send them to the dashboard. I just found results on how to create new shared variables.
Also the existing program is a state machine. So will the variables be available on the dashboard simulteneously or is it possible to visualise the controls in the form of multiples tabs on Dashboard, like it is on the original program?

I don't know of any way to convert the controls to shared variables. You're going to have to create the shared variables fresh and wire them up in a way that makes sense for your application.
As for tabs...kind of. Each dashboard can be configured to have different screens and you can move between them. This is probably the guide you want to follow:

  • Method parameter & variable in program - "is not type compatible"

    Hi All,
Sorry for my dummy question but by checking a few threads I couldn't find answer.
I have a method with a paramter and calling it I get error message:
"variable" is not type-compatible with formal parameter "parameter"
    'variable' --> data element: 'zchar2' (CHAR 2)
    'parameter' --> data element: 'zchar10' (CHAR 10)
It's clear that 'zchar2' and 'zchar10' are different.
What is not clear to me why cannot I import a 2 character string into a parameter of 10 characters.
There's no error if I change the parameter's type from 'zchar10' to 'c' in the method. However I don't want this since the parameter must have 10 characters or less (and no more).
How can I define the parameter in the method properly (I don't want to manipulate 'variable')? What is the solution?
    Thanks,
    Csaba
    Additionally:
    Tried char10, string10 - it didn't help...

    Naveen,
    Thanks for your answer.
I want to import char2 from program (from where the method is called) into the method via a char10 parameter (export / import depends on from which point we see it).
    CALL METHOD dummy=>dummy
EXPORTING parameter (remark: char10) = variable (remark: char2).
    Thanks,
    Csaba

  • Passing Variables Between Programs in Background Mode

    Hello,
Can you pls. suggest how I can pass a variable from one program to the other while in the background mode.
The Export and Import parameters do not work while in the background.
    Thanks.
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
EXPORT/IMPORT works in Background mode provided the export & import both are done in background.
Refer this program: it has export/import in background
    /people/prashant.patil12/blog/2007/02/20/displaying-alv-grid-in-background-job
    <b>*----
Before the export, fill the data fields before CLUSTR

      wa_index-aedat = sy-datum.
      wa_index-usera = sy-uname.
      EXPORT s_matnr

  • Defining Selection variables for program variant, TVARV table Help - urgent

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me, what is the transaction to create new variables in table TVARV to use them in my variant for fiscal year and WIP period fields in selection screen of SAPKKA07 program.I used STVARV and it creates variables in table TVARVC table not in TVARV table and moreover in creating a variant the selection variables are defaulted as variables from TVARVC table as input help but not the variables in TVARV table however I see and understand different from SAP Help. The following is the link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/25/c966398ae5c13ae10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    for selection variable creation.
Can anyone help me on this this is very urgent. Your help is highly appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Kumar

    Thanks Appana,
I know we can create the variable that way but, that is something hardway to do it. I want to go about it from transaction not meaning to update the table directly and moreover if I update the TVARV table directly as u said I still dont see the variable I created in the list I get on input help for selection variables while creating a program variant.
I hope u can suggest me better now.
    Thanks

  • Create variable in program dinamically

    Hi Gurus,
I know it is possible create internal tables and structures like this internal table..  but...
Is it possible create a variable dinamically in ABAP program???
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes.
DATA lp_data TYPE REF TO DATA.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <FS>.
    CONSTANTS c_type TYPE c LENGTH 1 VALUE 'F'.
    CREATE DATA lp_data TYPE (c_type).
    ASSIGN lp_data->* TO <FS>.
The field symbol is now a floating point variable.  You can have any type, and also construct your own types dynamically, using the RTTS (search for info).
You can also create internal tables dynamically by building on these techniques.

  • Add firewall rule with custom environment variable in program path

    Hi,
We want to create a firewall rule for a program which is placed in folder which changes sometimes. I know you can add a firewall with the ProgramFiles environment variable like this:
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Test Firewall rule" dir=in program="%%ProgramFiles%%\Test\Test.exe" action=allow security=notrequired
The environment variable ProgramFiles isn't expanded and if the Program Files folder is different on a system the rule still works.
We try to use this with a custom environment variable which we set a system environment variable with this command:
    SETX SomeFolder "D:\Some Folder\Apr 2015" /M
If we use the command below to add the firewall rule in a batch file the environment variable SomeFolder is expanded correctly and the program path is added as a static path.
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Some Firewall Rule" dir=in program="%SomeFolder%\AFile.exe" action=allow security=notrequired
Because the folder changes sometimes we want to change the environment variable SomeFolder and not remove the old firewall rule and create a new one. We want to add the environment variable SomeFolder to the program path as a (dynamic) environment variable
and not as the expanded path at the moment when the rule is added. If we use this command:
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Some Firewall Rule" dir=in program="%%SomeFolder%%\AFile.exe" action=allow security=notrequired
    We get the error:
              Windows Firewall with Advanced Security
An error occurred while adding the rule.
              Error: The parameter is incorrect
Status: The application name could not be resolved
              OK
Why can't we use %%SOMEFOLDER%% like we can use %%PROGRAMFILES%%? The same error is shown when we try to add the firewall rule through the management console 'Windows Firewall with Advanced Security'
    W. Spu

    Hi,
Based on my plenty of test with this problem, it seems like there is no better method to achieve your requirement. To add new policy to firewall, it would be better using general cmdlet. The path parameter like %%SomeFolder%% do have problem in add firewall
    policy cmdlet.

  • Programming batch modify properties of shared variables DSC Module

DSC module to establish a large number of shared variables, you need to modify the property values programmed variables, rather than setting property values when creating variables.
DSC module to build tens of thousands of shared variables, alarm limit properties of these variables need to be set after the software is released by the customers themselves, rather than set when you create the variable.
So many variables, how programming in the software interface can be set variable attributes?

I assume that a super admin user does not get these error messages, right? If so, this behaviour might come due to missing permissions on PCD objects for the user rubinmd. Please apply note 792370 which explains how to set end user permission on the pcd folder com.sap.ip.collaboration/Rooms

hey guys im new to these forums and someone told me that i could get help on here if i get in a bind...my problem is that i need help creating a driver class for a program that i have created and i dont know what to do. i need to know how to do this is because my professor told us after i was 2/3 done my project that we need at least 2 class files for our project, so i need at least 2 class files for it to run... my program is as follows:
p.s might be kinda messy, might need to put it into a text editor
