Create a field NOT NULL in a z table

Hi,
I want to create a ztable and i need to create in it a field that can't be initial but it's not a field of the key.
Is there any kind of property to set a NOT NULL in the field??.

"Initial Values" Column is an Indicator that NOT NULL is forced for that fieldCheck out the documentation below for you reference.
Use
    Select this flag if a field to be inserted in the database is to be
    filled with initial values. The initial value used depends on the data
    type of the field.
    Please note that fields in the database for which the this flag is not
    set can also be filled with initial values.
    When you create a table, all fields of the table can be defined as NOT
    NULL and filled with an initial value. The same applies when converting
    the table. Only when new fields are added or inserted, are these filled
    with initial values. An exception is key fields. These are always filled
    automatically with initial values.
    Restrictions and notes:
    o   The initial value cannot be set for fields of data types LCHR, LRAW,
        and RAW. If the field length is greater than 32, the initial flag
        cannot be set for fields of data type NUMC.
    o   If a new field is inserted in the table and the initial flag is set,
        the complete table is scanned on activation and an UPDATE is made to
        the new field. This can be very time-consuming.
    o   If the initial flag is set for an included structure, this means
        that the attributes from the structure are transferred. That is,
        exactly those fields which are marked as initial in the definition
        have this attribute in the table as well.

I guess you are asking for a column inside a table, having a named not null constraint. Am I correct? Try the following.
SQL> create table checktab (col1 varchar2(30) constraint NN_const not null);Is this what you required?

Set the When Button Pressed to the CREATE button
2nd validation
:P1_ITEM10 IS NOT NULL
Set the When Button Pressed to the DELETE buttonI think that's going to be the easiest way to do it.

Created "Hierarchy Field" not saved in Import Mapping File

Hello experts,
I want to save the mapping created after having imported categories via MDM Import Manager.
Everything works fine as I execute an initial import (In "Map Field" tab, I create a "hierarchy field" based on the three fields "Categorie Name, Categorie Name 2, Category Parent" and mapp the Split Hierarchy field consequently ).
My problem is as I save the Mapping and try to reuse it for a new Categories import, the former "hierarchy field" does not appear anymore. I assume Saving Mapping does not save created hierarchy fields...
Can anyone help me on this?

From XML, with fields "Category Name, Category Parent".
Then in MDM Map Tab, I clone the Field "Category Name" and create the Hierarchy Field with name "Categories", parent field "Category Parent", Child Field "Category Name", and Node name field "Category Name Clone".
Then I map the Split Hierarchy field with the destination field "Category Name [DF]", and the source field "Category Name" with the Remote Key.
The matching field in Match Record Tab is "Category Name [DF]".
I save then the mapping file but am not able to reuse it : as I said, the Hierarchy field disappears !

I am understanding alot of what Michael and Rod wrote.... I am just puzzled over the following:
the query below is left joining the STUDENT table to
HOLD table.
The HOLD table - contains rows for students who have holds on their record.
a student can have more than one hold (health, HIPAA, basic life saving course)
BUT, for this query: I'm only interested that a hold exists, so I'm choosing MAX on hold desc.
Selecting a MAX, helps me, bec. it reduces my join to a 1 to 1 relationship, instead of
1 to many relationship.
Before I posted this thread at all, the LEFT JOIN below testing for IS NOT NULL worked w/o
me having to code IS NOT NULL twice....
Is that because, what's happening "behind the scenes" is that a temporary table containing all max rows is being
created, for which Discoverer has no predefined join instructions, so it's letting me do a LEFT JOIN and have
the IS NOT NULL condition.
I would so appreciate clarification. I have a meeting on Tues, for which I have to explain LEFT JOINS to the user
and how they should create a query. I need to come up with rules.
If I feel "clear", I asked my boss to buy Camtasia videocast software to create a training clip for user to follow.
Also, if any Banner user would like me to email the DIS query to run on their machine, I would be glad to do so.

XREF3 field not getting populated in BSEG table while posting MIRO

I have one query in MIRO tcode.I have activated xref3 field in MIRO tcode using enhancement LMR1MF6Q.Now when i try to post document with some values in xref3 field on screen ,value is not getting populated in BSEG table.Please tell me what else needs to be done to achieve this ?

Have a look at badi MRM_ITEM_CUSTFIELDS.
This badi will create a new tab at item level in order to display the new fields.
I haven´t used this badi so i cannot talk from experience here.

The problem is that i do not want to loose the current data.
I need a script so that i need not do this manually for each table.

1) Alter table <<tablename>> add(<<columnname>> <<datatype>>)
2) Update <<tablename>> set <<columnname>>=<<anyvalue>>
3) Alter table <<tablename>> modify(<<columnname>> <<datatype>> not null)
else
1) rename <<tablename>> to <<tablenamebk>>
2) drop table <<tablename>>
3) Alter table <<tablenamebk>> add(<<columnname>> <<datatype>>)
4) update <<tablenamebk>> set <<columnname>>=<<anyvalue>>
5) create table <<tablename>> (with additional columns with not null)
6) insert into <<tablename>> select * from <<tablenamebk>>

Created By and Created Date fields not showing up on Custom List form webpart

I have added Custom Listform WebPart on "DispForm.aspx" of custom list. I need to display, out of box fields "Author" [Created By] and "Created" [Creation Date] on this custom list form webpart, I have added them on the webpart, following is the code behind of aspx page:

I think that when you insert a custom list form web part you select “Item” content type, so custom list form is designed to display only the fields that are appropriate for that content type “Item”, but the item content type doesn’t contain the created and created by column, when you add the two columns, it will not find the field value. By default, the two columns will display at the foot of the list form using SharePoint:CreatedModifiedInfo.

Transaction BBP_MON_SC - the field Created By is no longer being filled out in my ITS screens; web screens. However, if I process this from SAP Gui, the field is filled. Have you seen this type of behaviour before?

Custom field not getting added into MSEG table throuhBADI MB_MIGO_BADI

i have created a new tab in MIGO transaction and created a zfield called ZZcert . i have also created one append structure in MSEG table with field name ZZCERT .
i have created new tab for migo using BADI MB_MIGO_BADI . when i enter value in ZZCERT in MIGO transaction , it is not updated in MSEG table . but in debugging mode im able to see the value in (SAPLMIGO)MSEG . i have tried the option of using Field symbols also . but it didnt work .
I have searched in the forum for suitable answers.
can anybody guide me how to update the ZZCERT value into MSEG table ??

Hi,
if i am not wrong these are standard transactions..when you have created a screen then for your field you can click on "get from dictionary" and the map your field(drag a field from MSEG directly on to the custom field on screen) and the you have to activate the screen....i think thats the only thing you need to do so as to update the field value in database...
or else as sugegsted by the post above you need to use BDC recording to update the databse table MSEG.

"People Picker" field not letting update SP linked table in Access

Hello all,
I have linked a SharePoint list to an Access database in order to manipulate some data. This list contains several fields, including a people picker in which its data come from SharePoint.
Once in my Access DB, I need to update some fields of this list, however when I try to change some values from a record that has the people picker populated I get the following error message: "you cannot reference rows created
when you are disconnected from the server because this violates the lookup settings defined for this table". I only get this when I have values on people picker, I can proceed without any problem when I have it set as blank.
So, do you have any idea on how to accomplish an update operation while having a people picker field populated?

I recommend to check if the user populated in the RequestBy exits in User Information List in SharePoint site and the choices listed in Access for status field are existed in SharePoint Status column.

What you mean is: the person who asked you the question thought the order of columns was important, and wanted to see if you agreed. Or maybe they were just asking the question to see whether you thought it was important (as a test of your understanding of the database).
When I started out in Oracle I was told that it was good practice to have the mandatory columns first and then the optional columns. But if you do some research you find this: the impact of column ordering on space management is: empty nullable columns at the end of the table take up zero bytes whereas empty nullable columns at the middle of the table take up one byte each. I think if that saving really is important to you you need to spring for an additional hard drive.
Besides, even if you do organise your columns as you suggest, what happens when you add an eleventh NOT NULL column to your table? It gets tacked on to the end of your table. Your whole neat organisation is blown.
What does still matter is the positioning of large VARCHAR2 columns: they should be the last columns on your table in case they create chaining. Then any query that doesn't need the large columns can be satisfied without reading the chained block, something that can't be guaranteed if you've got columns after a VARCHAR2(4000) column. This doesn't apply to CLOBs, etc. which are stored separately anyway.

Script or query to generate a report of null or not null columns

I need a script/query it should pick up all the tables from user_tab_columns and produce a report for all the tables which are the columns are null and not null.

As long as the columns were defined as NOT NULL on table create, or ALTERed NOT NULL, you can do this:
SQL> CREATE TABLE t (id NUMBER NOT NULL, descr VARCHAR2(10));

SQL> SELECT column_name, table_name, nullable
2 FROM user_tab_columns
3 WHERE table_name = 'T';

Other thing what you can do is
1. First create a Table type.
Goto SE11-> Dataelements ->Table type
There on the next screen select Predefine radio button & there provide data type & size.
2. Create a structure having a field typa of Table type created before. say that field is quant.
Now in your program refer that structure to create an internal table & work area.
Now if u append ur text to the field quant.
try creating line type of size more that 255 if it works then fine other wise reduce it.
Note:: This will be a deep structure.
so first append value to the field quant, the at the end of first record append valu to ur internal table.

Could you please help me how to create the Field Catalogs (More than one Source Table). If any one is having example that will help.
My scenario:
Currently we are archiving on CRM Data archiving project. We are facing one issue on creating field catalog with more than one source table.
Ex: ST -- BP1
BP2
BP3
ST info store in one table and BP1 -- BP 3 info sotre in another table. with current field catalog we are getting ST -- BP1. Our requirment is we need to show the ST -- BP3 How we can achive this.

I don't think its possible to create fieldcatalog for different tables,
but if you want to do so create a dummy table which has all the fields which you want in fieldcatalog.
populate the data from different table to that dummy table
then create fieldcatalog for that table and pass it in the function module...
