Create a JS to Split Documents - Adobe X

Does anyone have the JS to use the Adobe X Split Documents feature?  We use the same settings each time we split, so I would like to add a Icon to do this step for us if possible, so we just need 1 press of a button.

Probably not. One needs to write the script for the action and place that code on every system that will use the code. Then you need to create a script to add the button to the tool bar and call the script for the for the action.

  • Splitting Documents by Bookmark

I am having trouble splitting documents by bookmark. I continue to get this error message:
This file may be read-only or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different dame or in a different folder.
Other Documents have worked fine but this one has been the issue. I have saved in other files saved as a different name but I continue to get the same error message.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I don't think there is any way to make the default language for the created files.
You can create a Fix Up that Sets the Language and then Make an Action that will run that Fix Up on all the files in a folder. Fixups are in the Preflight dialog.
I was able to do it in less thant 10 minutes using these instructions -- and what I already knew about creating an Action.

  • EPUB Split Document -- minor bug

    Hi,
Let's say you've selected some text. You create a new paragraph style
based on the formatting of that text. You click the "Split Document"
checkbox in the para style definitions dialog. Then you click okay to go
    ahead and create the style.
If you go back into the style definitions, you'll see that "Split
Document" is UNchecked, and has to be checked again, even though when
you created the style it was checked.

  • I can't select split document option with CS6

Hi. I have Indesign CS5.5 on PC but I have been working on a document with the trial of CS6. I have set a table of contents (in the user interface, not in the book pages.)
I'm all set to export the document. In CS5.5 i have the option to tick the box Export Document at Paragraph Style and then select the style that I want my book to be split at. This always works fine.
However when using CS6 to export to epub i select the Advanced tab. The Split Document box does not list the style I want to use to split the document.
It just has Body text, Chapter Title, intro/outro and Based on Paragraphy Style Export Tag. Why can I not select the style I want that is in my document?
Is it a limitation of the trial?

In CS6, you now have the option of selecting multiple paragraph styles where you can break a page. Open the Paragraph Styles panel. From the panel menu, choose Edit All Export Tags. In the dialog, check Split EPUB beside each paragraph style where you want the EPUB file to create a page break (new XHTML file). When exporting, in the Split Document menu, choose Based on Paragraph Style Export Tags.

  • Creating PDF via Word Macro using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I've been trying to create a macro for Word documents that will write the document out as a PDF and named as C:\temp\temp.pd. My macro to date is below, but everything I've tried so far results in a .prn file, though it is named temp.pdf. Trying to record the Macro using toolbar buttons or dropdowns yields a macro with no code. Any suggestions?
    Sub WritePdfFile()
    ' WritePdfFile Macro
        Windows(1).Activate
        ActivePrinter = "Acrobat PDFWriter"
        Application.PrintOut FileName:="", OutputFileName:="C:\temp\temp.pdf", Range:=wdPrintAllDocument, Item:= _
            wdPrintDocumentContent, Copies:=1, Pages:="", PageType:=wdPrintAllPages, _
            Collate:=True, Background:=True, PrintToFile:=False

I have tried using ActivePrinter = "Adobe PDF" . However, the results are the same. The file created is a prn file.  I've seen some references to a MS Word 'PDF Maker' plug-in that perhaps should be used, but this does not seem necessary to me. This is because, with the same document opened in Word, I can select the 'Convert to Adobe PDF' toolbar button and this creates a temp.pdf file as I need it. The challenge seems to be to get the same behavior through the use of a Macro.

  • Split Document by Paragraph

    Hi all,
I need to split a document into multiple documents to create a book.
I would like to split the document by a certain paragraph style.
I can´t find a funcionality whitin ID CS4 to do this.
How can I accomplish this? Scripting?
    Thankx,
    Pedro.

The solution suggested by Steve Werner surely makes sense and I tried it but it didn't work for me.
I created a new text frame above the text frame in which the styled TOC appears. In that text frame I typed the title of my TOC which is simply Contents. I created a new paragraph style for the word Contents and selected the Split Document option for that para style.
In the TOC Style dialog I left the Title field blank and for Style I selected "No Paragraph Style" as shown below. I updated the TOC.
But when I exported to ePub the TOC header (Contents) does not appear at all and the TOC does not start on its own page.
My document has three pages immediately preceding the TOC. First page is a paragraph of Acknowledgements, second page is the copyright page, third page is a poem that serves as a foreword, fourth page should be the table of contents. I have successfully used the Para Styles with the Split Document option to allow the first two pages (Acknowledgements and copyright) to be separate pages. But even after trying the workaround suggested above the poem and the TOC are placed on the same page. And I simply can't fathom why the title "Contents" does not appear at all.
Any suggestions? Is there a limit to how many paragraph styles can use the Split Document option?

Adobe v9 on W7 and office 2007. cannot create PDF from MS word using Adobe. But can from Excel, PPT and other MS office apps. Reinslalled Adobe, updated Office, and Adobe no help! Also I can create a pdf from the MS Word and it is using the Adobe 9. So one would think that's good. No it isn't when you need to combine different files to one big PDF document. Any suggetions? Thank you

Yes, I’m saying that I can in WORD use “Save As ADOBE pdf” but cannot in ADOBE create a pdf file from a WORD (.doc or .docx) document. While I can from other MS Office apps like Excel and PowerPoint.
I understand I can use “work around” and save doc in WORD as pdf then compile all files needed (xml, ppt, pdf) in the ADOBE v9. to one big pdf document. But that is not the point of this post.

We use a doc template to create a purchased part spec document and then save them as pdf formatted files.  These part spec documents are also appended with the datasheets for these purchased parts.  When we want to update/revise the document, is there a method, using Acrobat, to make those updates to the pdf, or must we go back to the doc template and basically generate a new document?
Also, our resulting pdf documents aren't searchable.  How can we generate pdf documents that are searchable?  I may want to search for a part value or name within the body of these pdf documents, but currently can't do that...very inconvenient.
    Can you assist?

Not totally sure about the search issue. A lot depends on how you created the PDF and what is in the datasheets you attached (like are they graphics?). The doc portion should be searchable as long as you used print to the Adobe PDF printer or PDF Maker. For your use, it may be that the print is adequate. However, the result should be searchable (unless maybe you had a form with filled in fields and created the PDF with PDF Maker. I think the form data may be retained in form fields and the fields are not searchable. In that case, a print might be a better procedure. (it would help to know the versions of WORD and Acrobat as well as the exact process you used to create the PDF.)
If the appended data sheets do not change, then you might try opening the original PDF and then using Replace Pages to replace the file created from the DOC file.

Mylenium gave you the exact name of the function. You could just copy that and paste it into the Google search form. You would then end up with this:

How create folders to organize content on adobe reader?

Go to the "Documents" view (From a document, tap "Documents" or "Recents" in the toolbar and then choose "Documents"). Then, tap "Edit" and you will see a folder with a "+" in it. You can add a folder here. Subsequently, you can tap "Edit" and use the move button (the folder with the arrow in it) to move a document to your new folder.

  • Creating a large 2 sided document.

I need to create a large document. There will be 1600 unique front sides, and one common back side for the document. The front sides will be created thru a data merge. So, basically, all the odd pages will be unique, and all the even pages need to be exactly the same. I'm trying to figure out a way to create this. The data merge won't merge just odd pages. And to do a data merge and then insert all the back pages later would be a very time intensive operation. I'm not going to try to create this as one large document. But regardless of how many smaller documents I split it into, I have to somehow insert 1600 identical pages in between all the pages created with the data merge. I'm using CS4. If anybody has any suggestions, I would love to hear them
    thanks

Yes, we are using a high volume printer. I've thought about printing the back side first. The problem is, once you run paper thru the copier, sometimes because of the static build up, it's hard to get it thru a second time. And we also can have problems with the image quality the second time thru. You get the best quality by letting the machine do the duplexing. And we're not actually 1600 we're doing 7 copies of 1600. So it's a huge run.
It does seem like there ought to be some way to insert blank pages in between existing pages, in bulk. I've tried to find a solution for InDesign, for Acrobat. We have imposition software, I tried doing it with that. But I can't find any way to add a page between a lot of existing pages. I can't believe I'm the first person who has to create a 2 sided data merge document, but only one side has variable data.
Thanks for your idea. We may end up having to run it that way. But I'm hoping to find another way.

I have the Acrobat X Standard, the tool box no longer gives me the options I had before like splitting documents. Please help!

Was it AA X Std that you had these options in (sorry, I only have Pro)? If it was the trial (that is Pro), it may be that Std does not have to feature. Under XI at the Adobe site, there is a comparison of features between Std and Pro that might give you a hint.
There is also an option to turn on or hide many tools. For me there is a small icon just above the tools...comment titles. If you select that it give a list of tools you can display. Often, several are not displayed by default. How you lost them is another things, but it is getting them that is the basic question.

  • Programmatically creating postscript files for office documents

    Hi All
I am in the process of experimenting with vb.net to open up a word document in the background and create a postscript file, which i would then use to create a pdf. This currently is a windows service and seems to run ok when the same code runs through a windows form application.
The problem i am having is with the "When creating a postscript file you have to sent the host fonts" error message, which seems to be fairly common judging by numerous articles on various forums. However, none of the solutions seem to solve my problem.
I have set the "Do Not Send Fonts To Adobe PDF" option to OFF on printer defaults, on the current printer setup and even on the printer settings for that application (go to print, properties etc from within Word).
However, whenever i run the code i get the error message. I then made the instance of word visible and checked the application settings for the adobe pdf printer.... the "Do Not Send Fonts To Adobe PDF" is now ticked. But when i close this down, and open word as a normal user would and check the setting it is off! Why would this be?
Can i programmatically change this setting when word opens and before i run the post script file creation code? Where is this value for the setting stored? I do not understand why this is resetting in the instance of word through code? Is it something to do with setting the active printer and at this point using the default setting?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Nic

You say you are doing this as Windows service – does this mean you are running this on a server of some sort?  If so, that is NOT ALLOWED.

I have Type kit turned OFF, so why is it still messing with my documents Adobe?
Yet again you have managed to "fix" something that was not broken.
Creative cloud has been nothing but aggro since I installed it, wish I could stay on CS5......not that that is much better mind.
I have created documents with the fonts installed before I swapped to CC, now when I open them it replaces the font with default Myriad and the correct font has gone from my fonts menu. Why? the fonts are obviously already installed otherwise how would I have created it in the first place?
Please sort this out Adobe, your products used to be the industry standard. Now they are just SUB STANDARD with no competition, and most users feel they are being short changed because we don't have any other option. Not really good enough is it?

I have the same problem were you able to fix it?

  • Split document function does not work accurately by size

    Hello there,
I am using Acrobat Pro 9.4.2
I tried to split a document of about 15 mb size (420 pages) into 5 equal size of documents (3 mb) for sending through mails.
However, I find the generated documents are of different sizes, some are more than 3 mb and some less than 3 mb. I tried splitting by number of pages but some pages have graphics, so again the result is uneven.
Finally, I increased the number of splits and just clubbed about 3 or more files together to manage the 3 mb limit.
The original file have bookmarks but the split documents do not have any.
It has only one top level bookmark so I could not split by bookmarks.
Question is: Is there any way to split the document accurately by size. Additionally, I need to retain the related bookmarks in each split including the inital view of bookmark panel & page.
    Thanks for reading this.

Unfortunately, Adobe acknowledged right after they released Acrobat 9 that there is a bug in the File Size option of the Split Document feature and that it would not be fixed until Acrobat X release.  (I have not looked at X to see if they have actually fixed it or not)
Despite the fact that they knew there was this problem, they decided to get people to pay for the new version rather than fix their mistake in their version within one of their patches, but rather to force people to pay a few hundred more dollars for a new version.  Ick.
The only real solution is to split the documents and then to combine those documents that are not close to what you are seeking.  I know, I know.  It's lame, and as much as I love using Acrobat products, this philosphy is less than honorable.
