Create an Exit button
Does anyone know how to get an exit button to work. I selected New under the Execute javaScript commands, but I'm guessing the timing of the button needs to be set to something to get it to work. Not really sure why it's not working, just guessing at this point. Is there specific javaScript that I need to add and, btw, the tutorial is being designed for IE 8 users.
Thanks out there in Captivate land!
I linked to the exact spot on the page where the issue surrounding exiting the movie is discussed. The thing is, as much as we would like to think there is, there quite simply is no hard and fast "this does it every time" method.
Everything hinges on the combination of browser, browser version and method used to open the page.
I'd say forget about mucking with JavaScript. That's just an exercise in futility and frustration for most Captivate authors.
The simplest approach is to configure the movie to close when it ends (in project settings) and if you want a button on the slide to close it, configure the button to point to the last slide. Time the last slide for .1 seconds. The bottom line should then be that the button is clicked and the last slide is visited. *IF* the movie can be closed, it will then close. You might have some text advising the user to close the movie in the event that it cannot close on its own.

Create an exit button that (really) works
Hello,
I'm using Captivate 6.
I have create a playbar with trigger zone for "previous slide" button, "next slide" button and a "home" button.
Trigger zone for previous and next slide are working perfectly in the preview and from the swf i have published.
Concerning the "Home" button, it is in fact an exit button that closes the swf (an advanced action including cpCmndExit with 1).
It is working from the preview but not at all from the swf (played in Chrome and IE9).
Kind regards,
VincentI just went through a very similar struggle using the variable CPcmdexit =1 here was what I found and the solution for me. First off, this variable only seems to work when using Internet Explorer (couldn't get it to work with chrome and didn't test firefox). Luckily our LMS standard is the users use IE so that helped me passed the hurdle. The second part of the equation though that took me forever to figure out was that in the Reporting Settings make sure that your success criteria is being obtained. In other words my criteria was that the user viewed 100% of the slides before being complete. This did not work for me because I had slides past my end point that the presentation jumped and returned from. My resolution was to set it to the number slide instead of percentage that I wanted my user to view. So success now looks like the user viewing to slide 37 (note: It seems although I didn't throroughly test that if you have hidden slides along the way to get the end number that it throws the count off since user can't actually view it). When that criteria is met it seems that the Cpcmdexit button functions properly otherwise it is unresponsive.
Hope that helps.

I created an exit button to close a webpage at the end of an Adobe Presenter course using; javascript:window.close() and pubished it. On inserting the .swf file and publishing the Presenter file the exit button does not work.
Using: Captivate 5, Presenter 7.0.6There are solutions available. While not all browsers allow you to close a window without handles; you can close IE (for example) and then attempt to close other browers. If they don't close within a reasonable period of time (e.g. one or two seconds) you can redirects your users to another page (e.g. either your website; or a simple document with instructions to the learner to close the browser using the X).
I do NOT recommend using Flash files with embedded "window.close()" or the like. This will only work if the page that is opened is a simple page and not contained within a frameset (where you might need "parent.close()" or "top.close()", etc). You'd have to edit your Flash file each time to make this work, if it works at all. I recommend creating a Flash file that contains a reference to an actual function you create, such as "closeBrowser". Then you create that function in the HTM file that contains the Flash-based files and you can easily modify that.
I discussed this issue and originally developed some certificates or quit buttons for AS2-based Presenter and Captivate files in an article on Connect Users: http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/02/certificates/.
I have to update my articles (in my spare time) for AS3-based articles. However, you could easily create a Flash-based button that calls ExternalInterface.call('closeBrowser'); or something similar. The code you'd want to include in your HTM file is found here: http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/02/certificates/JSCodeForHTMLTemplates.txt
The function to call from Flash is: closeBrowser

Hello,
I really need to create an exit button for use within Adobe Reader. I am using Adobe Acrobat and will use any javascript that works.
My understanding is that Adobe does not allow this functionality. Could someone link me an official reason/response as to why this is?
Also, if anyone has any ideas to get around this, please let me know. These PDFs will open in a program in full screen. A simple exit button, or even a minimize button, would allow them to go straight back to the program. Now it only closes the document, leaving Adobe Reader still open. It just looks unprofessional and adds an annoying step to getting back to the program. Please help.
Thank you for your time.Here where it's documented: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.143.html
It makes sense because one document should not be able to automatically close Acrobat/Reader, which may have multiple documents opened. -

hi all.. i'm just wondering whether is it possible to create an exit button when its function would exit the program or close a window.
for example, when i click on the exit button, the window should close juz like the 'X' at the top of the window.

btnCloseWindow.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ev) {

How to create an "exit widget" button on iAd producer.
I am creating a widget for a children's book and would like to create a simple "exit button" (an X the reader can touch to close the widget). Thus far I have created the object, but i can't seem to find an an 'action' to associate with the "activated" event that will close the widget and return to the iBook. I realise that a widget can alternatively be closed with a two-finger gesture, but for simplicity in view of my target audience prefer to have the "exit button". Note: I am relatively new to iBooks Author, and totally new to iAd producer. Unfortunately I don't know how to script in Java or HTML yet, but am willing to learn. Can anyone please give me some pointers?
Thanks! The button didn't appear in the preview in iAd producer, so I didn't realize it was there. But I tried my widget in iBooks Author and the button is there. Thanks again!

EP 7.0 ESS Create Expense Report Exit Button
Hi SDN
We are implementing Travel using EP7.0. While testing the Create Expense Report, everything is working as expected. We have a problem while trying to edit a previously saved trip. During editing all functions work fine. If the user clicks the Exit button whil editing the previously sved trip we receive 2 different errors from different screens. The first error occurs when trying to exit from the General Trip Data screen: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFCExecuteException
The second error ocurs from the screen for Record Expense Receipts:
The following ABAP Exception occurred: SERVICEKEY_INVALID
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFCExecuteException
Again, this only happens while editing a trip, not during creation. Any help would be appreciated. I believe there may be a config issue but wanted to see if anyone else had this issue.
ThanksSathya,
I had the developers create a delta link to the SAP provided iview My Trips and Expenses. I then copied the following parameter into the Application Parameter field on the iview. This allowed the exit button to work properly.

How can I create an "exit" pop up in Flex Mobile?
Ok, I'm creating an app that has an "exit" button in all views, and when that button is clicked the only thing that I do is use "navigator.popToFirstView()", this works perfect, but I don't want people to exit right away, I want to have a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to exit, below is the code that I have for the skinnable pop up container:
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.events.FlexEvent;
protected function yesExit(event:MouseEvent):void
this.close();
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:VGroup>
<s:Label text="Are you sure you want to exit?" width="100%" />
<s:HGroup width="100%" horizontalAlign="center" >
<s:Button label="Yes" click="yesExit(event)" width="40%" />
<s:Button label="No" click="this.close()" width="40%" />
</s:HGroup>
</s:VGroup>
I tried using something like "parent.poptofirstview" but that doesn't work, and right now I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!You need to add an event listener for PopUpEvent.CLOSE on whatever view is creating the pop up. Then in the handler for that listener, you can do a navigator.popToFirstView() You'll also have to pass some type of data along with the close event so that you'll know whether the window was closed because "yes" was selected or "no".

Exit button not working in exe file made with Aggregator
Hi,
I created an .exe file using Aggregator in full screen mode but the exit button on the skin doesn't work. When I click the exit button, the dislay hiccups (wobbles a bit) but the file keeps playing and doesn't close. This is especially problematic since this occurs in full screen. The only way to exit is by hitting the Escape key on the keyboard. The exit button works fine in individual .exe files of the modules; it's just in the aggregated .exe file that the exit button doesn't work. Is there anything special I need to do to make the exit button work with Aggregator?Hi, this is more J2EE related stuff, SAP came with a solution but is taking ages to get the next page after the "Exit" button is pushed:
Go to VisualAdnmin >server(n) >Services >Configuration Adapter >
(Right side Pane) webdynpro >sap.com >tcwddispwda >PropertySheet
default.
Edit the property sheet and change the custom value for the property
"sap.locking.maxWaitInterval" to 200.
Note 1113811, explains why these kind of errors happen.
I still waiting for a better solution from SAP.

Custom close / exit button in HTML widget
Hi,
how to set a custom close / exit button in a HTML widget for iBooks Author? I want to replace or hide the standard button in the top left corner.
I already tried some JavaScript but nothing seems to work so far. Where can this button be modified or disabled and how to create a custom one?
Best regardsHi Ken,
thanks for your reply.
It's good to hear that this button can be changed.
It would be interesting to know how this can be achieved. Any hints?

Exit button code not working in published captivate file
Hi,
I have created a elearning module in captivate 8. I have an exit button at the end of the module. The button has the inbuilt code ''on success - exit''. When I publish this file to swf or AICC format, this exit button doesnot work. Please help!have you confirmed that this javascript code ( only
javascript code in html, no swf) works?
in some cases the window.close() statement works only for
popup windows. so make sure of it. -
Exit button not working in Safari
Has anyone run into this, specifically with Safari? I created a module in Captivate 8, that has a close button on the skin. The module has been uploaded to my clients LMS and it closes no problem on all other browsers except Safari. I tried creating a button on the last page of the slide as well with the "exit" action and that doesn't seem to work either in Safari. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?
I tried an Exit button (clickbox associated with the action Exit). It freezes Safari for about 10-15 seconds and then finally closes the browser tab.
