Create Content in Portal SneakPreview installation
Hello,
I have got a huge starting problem!
I have just started with SAP and my first aim is to try out the Enterprise Portal.
For this purpose I have installed the SAP NetWeaver Sneak Preview including the SAP Web Application Server,
the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio SP9
and the SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP9 and SAP Content Management and Collaboration. I did not install TREX
When I was looking for some documentation on how to start with a portal I found the "SAP Best Practices" Guide. In the document N04: General Settings Installation Guide
Step 3: "Create Content for your Portal" it says "right click on Portal Content and choose New Folder"
then the folder wizard should open...
But I can't right-click on Portal-Content..., well, I can, but only the normal Browser context menu
opens. I'm logged on as Administrator and I've also tried another User to whom I have assigned all available content-manager roles.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Could it have to do something with the Java-Script errors the page seems to include?
Thank you for any help!
Ina
Ina,
if could have definitely to do with Java Script errors. Are you calling the portal web pages using the hosts IP address? If so, use the full qualified hostname instead. ...ah: And use IE 5.5 or 6.0. This should resolve the JavaScript errors and make the context menu available for you.

External program to create content in portal
Hi all,
I need to develop a program in an external program to feed portal content with news documents.
This external program is placed in Lotus notes.
The idea is to create portal content with e-mail information and some other documents placed in Lotus notes.
Does anyone know how can I do that?
I think there are 3 main steps involved, first create the "program" inside lotus notes server, and this program has to call a component inside portal to create the content in there. I've got some information on how to create this component inside portal but I want to find out if it is possible to call it outside portal or if there is a better way to do that.
Regards,
MauricioHi Mauricio,
> I just inserted external JAR in the project
Oh, please don't do that (if you have really done this). All you have to do is to add an external JAR to the build path (that is different from really putting a JAR into the project).
> java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
You need to add the SharingReference within the portalapp.xml for the portal application in question. In general:
If you need .../WEB-INF/portal/portalapps/com.sap.portalappABC/lib/some.jar to get the project build, add "com.sap.portalappABC" as SharingReference into portalapp.xml.
Hope it helps (for sure it will)

Can't create user into backend system and contents in portal.
hi expert,
I installed EP(EP,BI-JAVA) as add in installation on existing BI-ABAP system based NW04s.
I can log on portal by abap user. But unubale to create any content and user in ABAP through portal.
What must be done after setup Addin JAVA STACK??
I assign following roles to test user.
Administrators :UME Database
Authenticated Users:Built-in Group Authenticated Users Built-in Groups Adapter
Everyone
but the error message is like "An error occurred in the persistence. The original and possible not translatet message was: "BAPI_USER_CREATE1@BWBCLNT100: ID=01, NUMBER=491, MESSAGE=You are not authorized to create users in group". Contact your system administrator. "
If anyone can advice me, it would be appreciated very much.
Regards
MASAKIIf this is what you mean "But unubale to create any content and user in ABAP through portal"....
creating users in portal is not possible since your UME is now linked to the ABAP in an add-in installation or a dual stack system users can only be created in the ABAP system and with the roles SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION_RO /without RO should let you create users in the ABAP stack....
you can only assign roles to users on the Portal for the ABAP users ...
heres the reason...
Combined AS for ABAP + Java installation
If you install an AS for ABAP + Java, UME is automatically set up to use the ABAP user management of the same Web AS installation. This option uses the configuration file dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml.
AS for Java installation
If you install SAP Net Weaver AS for Java the UME is linked to the java database with users and groups in the Java system database, or if you want to subsequently connect an LDAP directory to the UME. This option uses the configuration file dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml -
Javascript error in Content Admin- Portal Content- iview Navigation window
Hi friends,
We are in the process of portal migration and as a part of this, we installed NW04 SPS 14 using Rapid Installer and then upgraded it to SPS 18. The components we upgraded are:
Java component
Portal Platform
Knowledge Management and Collaboration
Adobe Document Services
BI UDI
BI MMR
After upgradation, when we logged in to portal, we were not able to see/browse Portal pages/Roles/Iviews/Worksets (PCD Contents) under Content Administration->Portal Content.
Again, whichever window is there for navigation of PCD, we are not able to see the contents of PCD.For e.g. System Administration -> System Configuration.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Hello all,
I need to develop an application that automatically create new content in portal, like HTML documents in News folder.
Does anyone know where I can get documents about it or if it is or not possible to be done.
I have no idea what kind of application I have to build inside portals to do that.
Regards,
MauricioHi Mauricio,
of course this is possible. Just a remark: In fact this is a KM (dev) question and therefore maybe would have been better placed into the corresponding KM forum...
Anyway, check out https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/aef1a890-0201-0010-6faf-8fa094808653 as an introduction into KM/RF and page 22 as the starting point for code to create resources. From that on, use the APIDoc, you could start here for example: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/javadocs/nw04/sp12/knowledge management/com/sapportals/wcm/repository/iresource.html
Hope it helps

Enterprise Portal Post Installation
Hi all
I have installed SAP EP 6.0 SP2 and imported ESS and MSS as migrated contents.
I have created a super user in it.
1.Now I want that I should be able to view iviews of ESS and MSS.
2.Connect EP with my SAP 4.7 system. What is required for this becoz I dont have ITS is there any other alternative?
3.I was trying to find the administrative guide but could not find it in pdf format.
Please help as it is urgent....Hi Aniruddha,
You will first have to perform the following steps:
1. Activate Integrated ITS in your WAS. Follow the following link for documentation on the same.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/54/4d9993c6592941a407313a6763575c/frameset.htm
Integrated ITS gives you two options to web-enable your SAP system - SAP GUI for HTML or IACs. There is a good presentation on SDN on Integrated ITS by Dr. Klaus Layer. Go through that too.
2. You will have to create iViews in portals for accessing the IACs in your integrated ITS. Follow the link below for documentation for the same.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/a9/76bd3b57743b09e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm

Translated content in Portal Favourites iView
Hi All,
I have Portal roles in two languages English and German. I set the browser language to check the translations. Initially the browser language is English. When we add the role to Portal Favourites and then change the browser language to German, the text in the Roles is changed but the text in the Portal Favourites iview still remains in English. Can anyone tell me how to translate the content of Portal Favourites iview?
Thanks,
PriyaHi,
You can upload an Image or an HTML file in the KM Repository and then create an iview pointing to that file. Assign that to a role and and make the entry point YES.
Assign that role to user.
Whenever that user logs in the image will be displayed.
Hope this helps!

This is what comes up when I am trying to install Adobe AIR on my Mac OS 10.8.5 with Cricut Craft Room in the terminal.
Hi Chris,
I've been reading and trying everything! Ok so this is what I had on my Mac:
Bamboo
Core Essentials Painter 4
Cricut Craft room
* will be adding Adobe Photoshop Essentials 11 next month also.
When I tried install the Cricut Sync (to sync my Gypsy to the Mac) that's when it asked for Adobe AIR installation. I can see the AIR installer in my applications/utilities, but it will not let me run the program.
Here is the installer log:

regards, Matt.Jay,
We have now installed the Intermedia text option, but still get errors on the installation. (Portal version 3.0.8.9.8 NT).
After installation, we still get errors. These are generally "Synonym already exists" errors, even though we are starting with a blank database each time. The exact errors are.
"cannot create synonym wwctx_api_vpd for portal30_sso.wwctx_api_vpd name already used by an existing object"
"synonym owa_vpd_ctx, name already used by existing object"
We suspect these errors are causing the error message wwc-00000 to appear when we attempt to access the Login Server Administration page and create users.
Any ideas?
Regards, Matt. -
Created content: Admin hangs
I have been making a new portal and portlets. I have created content for the
buklloader. I run the loaddocs. I go to the admin tool. I click on my rules
and the server gives me the error message:
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error<<<
In the console the exception is:
Fri May 26 09:52:11 CEST 2000:<E> <ServletContext-General> Servlet failed
with Exception java.lang.LinkageError: Class

constraints at jsp._tools._rules._view_95_rulesheet._jspService
Now i cannot recover anything.
I have deleted the content and ran the bulkloader again. I have also deleted
the rulesheet though the admin tool.
When i try to create a new rulesheet, the same error is given.
I hope i don't need to reinstall...
Does anyone know the solution and why i got the problem

How do we transfer content between Portals ?
Hi all ,
How do we transfer content between Portals . In SAP R3 we transfer content using transport request. can any one explain how do we transfer content between poptals (Development, quality and porduction systems)
Thanks
Rajeev.Hi,
You will use Portal Transport to transport content between your DEV-QA-PROD system.
You will have to go to system administraton-->transport tab.
Create a transport package and add the portal content objects you wish to transport.
and download that as an EPA file and upload it to the next portal.

a) Go to System Administration Support Support Desk Portal Runtime Browse deployment. Navigate to ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd and select file com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par.bak. Click the download link. Open the zip file and extract it to your local file system.
b) Open Eclipse and <u><b>create a new portal application project</b></u> based on the par file (File Import PAR file).
my problem is I don't know where I can creat a new portal application?Do I need download a software?
anyone can help me ?And give me the tool!
thanks in advance!Hi,
For NW2004s you can download from <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/cfc19866-0401-0010-35b2-dc8158247fb6">here</a>.
The steps for installation are:
1.Begin installation by executing JDTSetup.exe
2.Enter installation directory where u wish to install.
3.You will have to enter your Java SDK directory. NDS needs at least 1.4.2 version or later.
4.Enter folder name for workspace storage: C:\NWDS\Workspace or C:\SAP\JDT\Workspace
5.After installation is finished start Developer Studio by going to SAP Netweaver Deveoper Studio icon on your desktop.
6.Open EP Perspective by going to Window->Open Perspective->Other->Enterprise Portal
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Pooja.

Browse/Capture on Content Administration/Portal Content -EP6
We're having problems trying to capture live (external) internet content from the portal when we create
URL iViews.
In EP5 the tool used to be called iView catcher and it allows you to get a portion of content from the web like a table (stock/weather). This functionality is not working in the portal and I am not sure if this is due to the privacy/partnership issues, but at the same rate, i see the functionality exists on EP 6.0 via
Content Administration/Portal Content. Right click on the folder and select New -> iView and from the list of templates select URL iView, enter name and id on the next screen. On the following screen you can enter a URL and we tested www.bbc.co.uk and then press the Browse/Capture button and the pop up window is not able to access this website.
The website does not appear in the Browse tab but if you save it does work when previewing the iView (example is iView url_test). However we just want to capture a part of the website and under the Capture tab it just says 'null' instead of the website(url) appearing.
Is this a known problem with EP(SP7), and perhaps fixed with SP9?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
JamesHi,
The iView catcher is available in EP6 start from SP9 and on (NW04).
If you select to create new iView - URL iView and then you choose browse / capture.
If it doesn't work well, you probably have problems with either proxy settings or your windows domain authentication.
Good luck,

Seek easy and safe way for average users to manage the contents of Portal.
Dear all,
My boss today requested me to provide a easy, safe way for average users in my company to manage the contents of Portal themselves.
My boss request users can upload files, documents, images and text into Portal.
I know that Oracle Portal provides security control for editing Portal. But it also provides a quite complex operations for manage the contents of Portal.
I am afraid average users cannot manage it easily.
Can anyone have experience on the issues and can you give me suggestion?
Thanks a lot
George (HK)Hi Vijay.B,
We can give privileges to manage the contents of the portal page.
Create a group and add the users into that group and for the page level privilege >>add this group as manage.
The members of the group can manage the page.I know the above is the standard strategy for users to manage the portal contents.
But, as an average user, I think it is still to complicated to manage.
For my case, I need to provide a means for average users to add news to the portal, so my priliminary idea is that I will create a portlet for news entries such as news heading, hyperlinks, text and save the entries in DB. Then, on the homepage of Portal, I will create another portlet for displaying the news headlines with hyperlink pointing to the actual URL.
thanks
George
