Create data illegal length

hi experts,
im having a short dump error:
Runtime Error: CREATE_DATA_ILLEGAL_LENGTH
Exceptions: CX_SY_CREATE_DATA_ERROR
im using CL_ABAP_CONTAINER_UTILITIES=>READ_CONTAINER_C.
Syntax:
read dataset datei_mit_ext into ls_buffer.
call method cl_abap_container_utilities=>read_container_c
exporting
im_container = ls_buffer
importing
ex_value = gs_ausgabe
exceptions
illegal_parameter_type = 1
others = 2.
if sy-subrc <>0.
endif.
please help.
thank you

Just Do this, if it is getting at Read Data set
    TRY.
        READ DATASET file INTO gv_string.
      CATCH cx_sy_file_open INTO oref.
        lv_text = oref->get_text( ).
      CATCH cx_sy_file_io INTO oref.
        lv_text = oref->get_text( ).
    ENDTRY.
Also you know the exxception you got for the CL_GUI_FRONTENT_SERVICES Read_container.
Do the sam above code here by changing the catch exceptions. Hope This Helps.

Bhargav.

  • Create data daynamic from field length

    HI All
    There is a way to create data dynamically if i have in parameter field length
    like char10 or KUNNR or char25.
    Thanks,
    Joy

    field-symbol: <fs_dyn_wa>    TYPE ANY.
    loop at lt_tab INTO ls_tab.
    CREATE DATA kunnr TYPE (ls_tab-fieldname).
    or if you have a fixed strucutre for the fields in the internal table, define the workarea and use the below code to push the values
               MOVE ls_tab-fieldname TO ls_fieldname.
              ASSIGN COMPONENT ls_fieldname OF STRUCTURE <fs_dyn_wa> TO <fs_val>.
    endloop.

  • Import  XSD to create Data type in Design

    hi,
      I know that we can import XSD in Design and create data type,my question is:
    1.  Can i import an XSD thats been created in message mapping and use that to create my data type in design.
    (or)
    2.Should i have to write an XSD on my own and then import it to create my data type, and is there any standard format to write it.

    Hello Prashanth,
    For your first question: i don't know exactly what you mean that the the xsd you create in the data mapping steps. So can you explain it in details?
    For your 2nd question:  Sure you can write your own XSD to create a data type. And i will give you an example xsd file format. Then you can import it in the XSD tab view.

  • Creating a Fixed Length File

    Greetings,
    I'm creating an application that need to create a fixed length file on a UNIX system and need help. I have an internal table(s) which contain structures with fields of different lengths (type c) and so I have a routine that concatenates these fields into a single record to be sent to a file using the open dataset. This process is squeezing out all my spaces and so my fixed length file is lost. Can someone assist in creating a fixed length file from an internal table without using delimiters?

  • How to change the created date for a file?

    I searched and found someone had asked this question last month, and an answer given was to try the site:
    http://danilo.ariadoss.com/howto-change-date-modified-date-created-mac/
    which I had previously found. However, when I follow the instructions I get a message stating "-bash: -t: command not found"
    I have gone through this numerous times, always with the same result. Is it possible that the direction given are not valid for Snow Leopard?
    Thanks for any help.

    First, thanks to both of you for helping - I hadn't realized that the 'touch' was part of the command itself. However, when I type in:
    touch -t 0904131115/Users/RobertFately/Desktop/suttonallen/suttonallen.jpg
    to test the procedure (there is a jpeg file I made today named suttonallen inside a directory of the same name) I get this error message:
    touch: out of range or illegal time specification: [[CC]YY]MMDDhhmm[.SS]
    This happens if I use the full year (2009) or just the last two digits (09) as seen above. My thinking is that I am attempting to redate the "create date" to April 13th of this year with an arbitrary time of 11:15AM.

  • Validation while create data type

    HI All ,
    I have a pop-up in my report that user can create data type in  didc,
    There is a simple way to support validation for data types ,
    I have pop-up where the user need  to provide name of attribute
    he need to create and the data type for it (char ,string ,int etc )
    and he also need to provide the leng of the attribute he want to create
    (e.g. char10 ) and also decimal places .
    the issue here that i need to do some validation in the pop-up
    for e.g. if user choose
    case 1
    name     - attribute1
    datatype  - string
    leng   - in this case he dont need to provide leng (string )
    dec - dont need to provide (string )
    case 2
    name     - attribute1
    datatype  - char
    leng   - 10
    dec - dont need to provide (char )
    Any idea how to do this validation in a simple way  (maybe to use standard functionlity)
    Regards
    Alex

    HI Keshav.
    What i did is created a popup with FM in the popup i have 4 field
    the field with the data type which i want to trigger event to it is domain and not ref to FM
    The ppoup have 4 field
    attr name
    datatype
    length
    decimal
    so from what you are say there is not option to trigger event when the user press F4
    and choose a entry from it ,
    since what i want to do is that if user for instance chose string i want that the next to fields (length and dec ) will be
    remove from the popup since he dont need them .
    and for he choose char the the decimal field will remove from the popup
    Any idea how to solve this issue ?

    TIPS(63) : LONG DATA TYPE의 LENGTH 구하기
    =========================================
    PURPOSE
    다음은 function 을 적용할 수 없는 long data type 의 length 를
    구하는 방법을 소개한다.
    Explanation
    Long DataType 에 대해 Length 를 구하려 하는 경우 다음과 같은 Error 가 발생한다.
    SQL> create table TOY
    2 (Toy_ID NUMBER, Description LONG);
    Table created.
    SQL> select LENGTH(Description) from TOY;
    select LENGTH(Description) from TOY
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes
    "Inconsistent DataTypes" Error 는 LONG DataType 으로 정의된 Column 에
    Function 을 적용하였기 때문에 발생한다.
    VARCHAR2 Type 을 사용하면 정상 처리할 수 있으나, Oracle7 에서는 VARCHAR2 는
    2,000 Characters 만 저장할 수 있으며, Oracle8 에서는 4,000 Characters 이다.
    Oracle8 에서는 Long Data 를 저장하기 위해 LOB DataType 을 사용할 수 있으며,
    LONG Data Type 은 Oracle7/Oracle8 모두 Support 되므로 LONG Type 에 대해
    Length 를 확인하는 방법을 알아본다.
    Example
    다음은 anonymous PL/SQL Block 을 통해 TOY Table 에서 LONG Column 의
    Length 를 구하는 Script 이다.
    1. Single Record 에 대한 예
    $ vi len_long.sql
    declare
    length_var NUMBER;
    cursor TOY_CURSOR is
    select * from TO;
    toy_val TOY_CURSOR%ROWTYPE;
    begin
    open TOY_CURSOR;
    fetch TOY_CURSOR into toy_val;
    length_var := LENGTH(toy_val.Description);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Length of Description: '||length_var);
    close TOY_CURSOR;
    end;
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> @len_long
    Length of description : 21
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    2. Multiple Record 에 대해서는 cursor FOR Loop 를 사용한다.
    $ vi len_long.sql
    declare
    length_var NUMBER;
    cursor TOY_CURSOR is
    select * from TOY;
    toy_val TOY_CURSOR%ROWTYPE;
    begin
    for toy_val in TOY_CURSOR loop
    length_var := LENGTH(toy_val.Description);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('ID: '||toy_val.Toy_ID);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Length of Description: '||length_var);
    end loop;
    end;
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> @len_long
    ID: 1
    Length of Description: 21
    ID: 2
    Length of Description: 27
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    Hi Frank,
    I have the exact same scenario where I have huge data coming from DB and its a must that I provide pagination.
    I tried implementing as per the document but the pagination is not working for me too.
    Details of the scenario:
    1. I have a session facade method which takes a searchCriteria (custom criteria) as the input parameter and returns a list of entities.
    a)This is the first method that I call as a default method activity in my taskflow.
    b)The result of this method is dragged and dropped as table in the jsff. (*which created a methodIterator in pageDef unlike the documentation which has accessorIterator*).
    2. I declared 2 class level variables
    a) List<Entity> result: which is set once the method in the (1) above is executed.
    b) long size: which is also set from the method (1) above.
    3. I defined getEntityAll(int index,int range) method which returns List<Entity> as per the index and range using the result (class level variable populated by method in 1)
    4. I defined getEntityAllSize() method which returns the size (class level variable populated by method in 1).
    5. I created the datacontrol on top of the session facade bean.
    6. I made sure to change the DataControlHandler = "oracle.adf.model.adapter.bean.DataFilterHandler"
    7. I've set the rangeSize = 25 in my pagedef.
    Now when I run my page, my default method activity calls the method in (1) above and populates the table, with a scroll bar.
    Once I start scrolling, it calls my method in (1) but it does not call either of the methods (getEntityAll(int index,int range) & getEntityAllSize()) which adds the pagination behavior.
    After this, my table has just 25 rows and further scrolling does not invoke any of the methods from the session bean.
    I'm using jdev : JDEVADF_11.1.1.4.0_GENERIC_101227.1736.5923 (11.1.1.4.0).
    Please let me know if I am missing anything.
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to create Data Element TPLNR

    Hello
    I want to use TPLNR to create data element in Operating Concern but I am not able to because of length of TPLNR (30) in Operating Concern we can create data element only upto 18 char. If i want to create new data element YTPLNR.

    2. Data Element
    3. and settings of particular data element what ever is required.
    My question is how can I use YTPLNR as characteristic as same value of TPLNR. I want all data that is available in TPLNR. I am creating new element because of data length issue.
    Table: IFLOT has data element TPLNR. I want all information of TPLNR in YTPLNR how it is possible to use that info in that.
    I tried to create user defined characteristics for operating concern
    i want to use with reference to existing value option in user define
    How can I do that
    thank you

    Hi,
    just a small addition for the Binary Search: The table must be sorted by the field(s) you are looking for:
    Symbolic code:
    read table <itab> with key <field> = <value> binary search.
    will take a record in the middle of the internal table first. If <field> < <value> the next try will be in the middle of the first half and the same procedure is repeated until the searched record is found or not found.
    If the table is not sorted correctly, you will probably miss the matching records.
    The fastest way is to use HASHED tables with unique key. The binary search will take more time when the table grows; hashed table access is (nearly) stable.

    Clemens

  • Change characterestic data type Length

    Hi All,
    Can anyone tell me, how i can change the caracterestic data type length. My characterestic got saved and activated. i can delete and recreate, but i would like to check whether there is any other way.
    Regards,
    Suresh Patipati.

    Hi,
    Unfortunately, a characteristic can be created with a maximum length of 18 characters. The only workaround would be to create an user-defined characteristic of length CHAR18, and then fill it with the first 18 positions of the source field by derivation.
    regards

  • Create data

    Why i can do that?

      create data gr_v1 like gf_v1.

    > i know, what create data to do, but i can't to use it.
    Your initial post shows clearly that you don't fully understand.  You've already been given some examples. ( Ignoring the one that's just wrong ).
    Last chance:
    >create data gr_v1 like gf_v1.
    Creates a place in memory with the same shape as the variable gf_v1.  gr_v1 then contains  a reference to / a pointer to / the address of that place in memory.
    Comment out your line "gr_v1 = 1111." and when you get to the debugger, look at the value of gr_v1.  You'll see it contains reference data - not numerical character data.
    Simply- your program doesn't  pass syntax check because you are trying to assign numerical character data to a reference variable.  You can only assign references to reference variables.
    If doesn't work because you can't assign numeric character data to a reference variable.  You can only assign references to reference variables.
    As previously stated:
    To get to the actual value you have to use field symbols in conjunction with the dereferencing operator ->*
    > FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs> TYPE n LENGTH 5.
    > ASSIGN gr_v1->* TO <fs>.
    > * <fs> = 1111.*
    Do you understand now?

    Horst,
    This is a bit esoteric, but I thought you would be interested.  It seems that you must have a "PARAMETERS" statement in the code you are using BEFORE declaring the variables/field-symbols in the following code.  In our 46C system, the program aborts without this.  Bizarre!  Try it.  Remove the parameters for P_ZJOB (the parm before the declarations and it will not compile:
    report zsimplecasting .
    must have a parameters statement before the declaration of variables
    parameters :
    p_job            default 'ZSDORDP040' no-display.
    data tab(30) type c.
    data dg(1000) type x.
    field-symbols <g> type any.

    Hi All,
    We are facing an issue in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
    If we are logging with Non Admin Id (other than weblogic) and select New Data Model, a blank screen is coming. Hi
    Rocky
    use the delete statement
    the information regarding delete is
    DELETE dbtab
    Syntax
    DELETE { {FROM target [WHERE sql_cond]}
           | {target FROM source} }.
    Effect
    The statement DELETE deletes one or more rows from the database table specified in target. The rows that are to be deleted are specified either in a WHERE condition sql_cond or with data objects in source.
    System Fields
    The statement DELETE sets the values of the system fields sy-subrc and sy-dbcnt.
    sy-subrc Meaning
    0 A least one row was deleted.
    4 At least one row could not be deleted, since it was not found in the database table.
    The statement MODIFY sets sy-dbcnt to the number of deleted rows.
    Note
    The rows are deleted permanently from the database table in the next database commit. Until then, you can cancel the deletion in a database rollback.

    The dialog should use A_TABLE as master and AB_TABLE as detail. The detail displays the names associated with the IDs. Next to AB_TABLE should be a view of B_TABLE which only displays rows that are currently not in AB_TABLE. Two buttons are used for adding and removing rows in AB_TABLE. After adding or removing rows in the intersection the B_TABLE view should be updated. The whole thing should work in the middle and client tier. This means no database round trips after each add/remove, no posts for AB_TABLE and no query reexecution for B_TABLE until commit/rollback.
    This is a very common szenario: For an item group (A_TABLE) one can select and deselect items (AB_TABLE) from a list of available items (B_TABLE). Most of JDeveloper4s wizards use this. They can handle multi/single selections, selections from complex structures like trees and so on. Ok, the wizards are not based on BC4J - or? How can we do it with BC4J?
    Our main problems are:
    1. Updating the view of B_TABLE after add/remove reflecting the current selection
    2. A good strategy for displaying the names instead of the IDs (subqueries or joining the three tables)
    3. A JBO-27101 DeadEntityAccessException when removing an existing row from AB_TABLE and adding it again
    Other problems:
    4. We get a JBO-25030 InvalidOwnerException when creating a row in AB_TABLE. This is caused by the composition. We workaround this using createAndInitRow(AttributeList) on the view object (instead of create()). This is our add-Action:
    ViewObject abVO = panelBinding.getApplicationModule().findViewObject("ABView");
    ViewObject bVO = panelBinding.getApplicationModule().findViewObject("BView");
    Row bRow = bVO.getCurrentRow();
    NameValuePairs attribList = new NameValuePairs(
    new String[]{"BId"}, new Object[]{bRow.getAttribute("BId")});
    Row newRow = abVO.createAndInitRow(attribList);
    abVO.insertRow(newRow);
    5. After inserting the new row the NavigationBar has enabled commit/rollback buttons and AB_TABLE displays the row. But performing a commit does nothing. With the following statement after insertRow(newRow) the new row is created in the database:
    newRow.setAttribute("BId", bRow.getAttribute("BId"));
    Please give us some help on this subject.
    Best regards

    Our main problems are:
    1. Updating the view of B_TABLE after add/remove
    reflecting the current selectionYou should be able to use insertRow() to insert the row into proper collection.
    However to remove a row only from the collection, you need to add a method on the VO subclasses (and perhaps export this method so that the client side should see it) to unlink a row from a collection (but not remove the associated entities from the cache).
    This new method should use ViewRowSetImpl.removeRowAt() method to remove the row entry at the given index from it's collection. Note that this is an absolute index and not a range index in the collection.
    2. A good strategy for displaying the names instead
    of the IDs (subqueries or joining the three tables)You should join the three tables by using reference (and perhaps readonly) entities.
    3. A JBO-27101 DeadEntityAccessException when
    removing an existing row from AB_TABLE and adding it
    againThis is happening due to remove() method on the Row which is marking the row as removed. Attempts to add this row into another collection will throw a DeadEntityAccessException.
    You may 'remove the row from it's collection, then call 'Row.refresh' on it to revert the entity back to undeleted state.

    iew");
    ViewObject bVO =
    O =
    panelBinding.getApplicationModule().findViewObject("BV
    ew");
    Row bRow = bVO.getCurrentRow();
    NameValuePairs attribList = new NameValuePairs(
    new String[]{"BId"}, new
    String[]{"BId"}, new
    Object[]{bRow.getAttribute("BId")});
    Row newRow = abVO.createAndInitRow(attribList);
    abVO.insertRow(newRow);This is a handy approach. Note that Bc4j framework does not support dual composition where the same detail can be owned by two or more masters. In those cases, you also need to implement post ordering to post the masters before the detail (and reverse ordering for deletes).
