Create different hierarchy based on Dimension values

I have a dimension called period. This dimension is having 4 different types of periods. The period table looks as below. I need to create 4 different hierarchies for these 4 types of periods based on l1 to l5 values. But all these values are in the same
table. Is it possible in SSAS? If so please let me know how can I do it.

If i understand it correctly, you want one hierarchy for one row, then you need to flat the table in the view and then you can create those hierarchy. But it is no different from having one hierarchy with the table you have. your hierarchy is going to look
like "Priod5" <- "Priod4" <- "Priod3" <- "Priod2" <- "Priod1". this hierarchy will have all the values. Don't forget to use the composite key for each attribute except key attribute.

Creating a hierarchy based on a remote database link

I am trying to create a hierarchy based on a synonym for a remote database table. The hierarchy wizard works correctly, and the table columns do appear as choices in the drop boxes. However, when I try to run the application, I get the error "No data found. This data does not exist or you do not have privileges to view it". Does anyone know how to resolve this error? Or how to work around this?
I can successfully create and query a form based on the remote table. And, I am able to create a hierarchy from other tables (which do not use a database link) without a problem.

Navigation from a chart to different reports depending on dimension value

Hi all,
Quick question: Imagine you have a bar graph based on a metric displayed for a specific dimension (#items sold by geographical regions). In this case each different bar represents the different dimension value (the different geographical region). I know on clicking a graph, the action can be drill down (if the dimension supports it) or a navigation to another report.
What i need to do is navigate to another report, and filter that report according to the actual bar ive selected (i.e. in this case im taking to a report with additional detail but only for the region i have clicked on in the bar graph).
Any ideas?

In the target report, just set the dimension column as IS PROMPTED. and in the main report chart set the navigation to the target report. thats it, now when ever you click on the value that passes the dimension value to target report.

How to create folder names based on Excel values or Txt files?

Hi there,
I often need to create large numbers of folders based on names I have saved in an Excel spreadsheet. I know in windows there is a way to create a macro within excel that automatically generates folder names based on cell values.
I was therefore wondering how to do the same on a Mac operating system. The main thing is to find a way to automate the process. I understand this may involve copying the values to a text file.
Below is an example of the names I need to create folders for (copied from the excel spreadsheet):
Wash Bowl Small 600
Deck Mounted Wash Bowl 500
Wash Basin - 866 - 2 Shelves
Wash Bowl Large 800
Built-In Wash Basin With 1-Taphole
Deck Mounted Wash Bowl 625
Would really appreciate a simple step by step approach to an explanation. As my understanding of using Automator, Apple Script, Terminal, etc, is extremely basic.

How can I create XML nodes on the target side based on a value in a XML field on the source side.
For example:
This XML field on the source:

Must result on 4 Lines on the Target:

So it's actually the opposite of the Count function...

Discoverer Plus - Creating URL's with Multiple Dimension values

We are using the "Manage Links" feature in Discoverer Plus (10.1.2.2.0) to send dimension value names in a URL. As part of the "Manage Links" feature, the user is given the opportunity to choose which dimension values for the selected cells they want to include in the URL.
We are attempting to create URL's to drill from Discoverer Plus to more detailed Oracle Reports, which will use the dimension values in sql statements . One problem we noticed is for each dimension we can not select multiple values to send in the URL.
For example;
I have a URL I want to append selected dimension values from Discoverer Plus.
We have 2 dimensions each containing 5 dimension values. We use Discoverer Plus to filter down to 2 dimension values for each dimension to be included in our url.
Time: Nov2007, Dec2007
Division: USCCSLT, USCCLSY
Measure: Flux

When the link executed, the EXIT URL only contains the first dimension value for each dimension. I have included the exit URL below:

It should contain Nov2007, Dec2007, USCCSLT, USCCLSY.
I've tried a variety to things in the Manage Links, but it always sends out just one dimension value.
According to the choices given in "Manage Links", it is not supposed to work this way.
I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong, because I don't see many posts here related to creating Discoverer Plus URL's.
If anyone encountered this and came up with a solution, I'd be interested to read your comments.

What version of Discoverer are you running? I'm assuming 10.1.2 but I would look at the 2 URL parameters
pluspopup and framedisplaystyle
From the Oracle Documentation:
When using popup in conjunction with framedisplaystyle=, the possible combinations are:
pluspopup=true and framedisplaystyle=embedded launches Discoverer Plus in a new pop-up browser window that contains the Plus applet embedded in it.
pluspopup=true and framedisplaystyle=separate opens a new pop-up browser window and launches Discoverer Plus in a new applet window.
This combination launches three windows: the original browser window (i.e. Discoverer Connections page), the new browser window containing the Discoverer image, and the JFrame window containing the Discoverer Plus applet.
pluspopup=false and framedisplaystyle=embedded launches Discoverer Plus in the current browser window.

DRM Validation for checking existence of nodes in a different Hierarchy as a property value

Hello Gurus,
I have two hierarchies named A & B respectively. I need to create a validation for nodes in hierarchy A which checks value of a property such that the node should have property value equal to any node name in Hierarchy B.
Means the values for that particular property for nodes in hierarchy A should exist as a node in hierarchy B.
It would be very grateful if some one can provide an idea to achieve this.

Try this in a formula type validation-
NodeInHier(PropValue(Custom.PropName),B)
This would return false if the property value is not a node in Hierarchy B and True if it is.
So you will get a validation message every time the property is loaded with a value which is not node in Hierarchy B.

BPMOn: Is it possible to send email notification to different groups based on filter value for IDOC?

I have setup the monitoring for idoc through interface monitoring and I am getting the alerts for the same. The alert is generated for different status values for the same idoc. Now my question is, is it possible to send email notification to two different groups based on the status values?? I mean for example , for a single idoc for some status values I want to send email notification to group1 only and for other status values I want to send notification to group2.Any help will be apperitiated.

Link same column to different forms based on column value

Hi All
I have one report with column "STATUS" with values 'schedule' and 'Active'. I want to link this column to some forms based on these values if column value is 'schedule' then it will go to some other form or if value is 'Active ' then go to some other forms and also i want to send some parameters of particular column value so it will fetch data from table based on this status. how can i link same column to diffrent forms. please help me out.

In the report query you can conditionally generate the links.
Example.

Having issues when creating alternate hierarchy in time dimension

Hi Everyone
I used How to guide of MS version 7.5 to build 2 hierarchies in time dimension.
It worked in MS version.7.5
But when i copied the same dimension members to NW version the alternate hierarchy (parenth2) doesn't work.
I mentioned all the required properties for both roll ups (like parenth2,timeid,usertimeid,ISBEGINNING).
Any idea?

You just need to understand how things are stored in ASO for this to make sense.
A level 0 member with no formula, even though it is in a dynamic hierarchy is still a stored member.
-- All level 0 members that do not have formulas are stored in ASO.
Upper level members are all "dynamically calculated".
-- Upper level members of dynamic hierarchies are pure dynamic.
-- Upper level members of stored hierarchies are candidates to have their values pre-aggregated and stored in a view.

Creating new hierarchy based on existing r/3 hierarchy & loading

We have an existing hierarchy in BW which we bring in from SAP R/3.
I want to use the majority of this hierarchy but I need it in a different sequence. If I copy this existing hierarchy and then re-structure it to how I need it, I assume that whenever any changes are made to the existing hierarchy, that these changes won't filter through to the hierarchy I need to create.
If my assumption is correct, does anyone have any suggestions as to what, if anything, I can do in order to make any changes in the existing hierarchy come through to the new one without any manual intervention.

The 4th option is to write a code in CMOD and restructure the internal table there itself. In this case you do not need worry about the change in the hierarchy. Please let me know if this helps.

How to create a list based on a value in multiple sheets

I am trying to create a list in numbers that references a common value among multiple sheets. I have 4 sheets created for a fantasy football league (1 sheet for QB, 1 for Running Back, 1 for Wide Receiver and 1 for Tight End). I have assigned a value to each player listed on each individual sheet. I would like to create a 5th sheet that lists the players in order from highest to lowest value as they are marked on their position sheet. How would this be done in Numbers?

Here is one possible solution:
I named the four data tables "QB", "RB", "TE", and "WR", and the 5th table, for lack of a better name "Summary".
NOTE: The first row OF EVERY TABLE is a header.
In the summary table:
A2=OFFSET(INDIRECT(A$1&" :: $A$1"), MATCH(LARGE(INDIRECT(A$1&" :: B"), ROW()-1), INDIRECT(A$1&" :: B"))-1, 0, 1, 1)
select A2 and fill to the right, then select A2 thru D2 and fill down as needed

In SSRS, aggregate measure based on dimension value

I am writing an SSRS 2012 report whose data source is an SSAS cube. In one table of this report, I am using a very simple data set with one dimension (Category) and one measure (Sales). The dimension has 4 members, A B C D. For the purposes of this
report table, I want to show the sum of sales for A, the sum of sales for C, and the sum of sales for B and D combined. I then want to show each of these 3 values as a percent of the total (sum of A B C D).
The data set looks like this:
CATEGORY SALES
A                10000
B                14000
C                 8000
D                 8000
The resulting report table should look like this:
CATEGORY SALES % OF TOTAL
A                10,000      25.0
B+D            22,000      55.0
C                 8,000       20.0
TOTAL         40,000

As you mentioned you need such aggregation in SSRS and you are using SSAS datasource.
so you can achieve this using MDX Query.
I have done this in my environment . I took below for achieving this
Dimension : Category
Relationship : There should be Facttable relationship with Dimension table Category.
Measure : Unit Price (in your case sale)
Please find below solution using MDX Query.
