Create Directory for Oracle Loader

I am using SQL Plus to connect to an Oracle server and execute queries.
If I use the following query to create a folder
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY MyTempFolder AS '/MyFolder/Temp';
And then execute the follwing
CREATE TABLE Customers
CustNum Number(7))
ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
(TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
DEFAULT DIRECTORY MyTempFolder
ACCESS PARAMETERS
(RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE
LOCATION ('Customers.csv')
I get an error "No such File or Directory"
I guess the loader is looking for Customers.csv file on the server but I have it on my local machine where I am running the queries from.

Oracle has NO access to any remote client system

  • How to set default directory for SQL LOADER

    hi all,
i wanted to know how can we setup a default directory for SQL LOADER if at all we can. i connot place my control and data files in local system and use them at command prompt. rather i wanted to know if we can set default directory that the loader can use. this requirement is basically to enable all the clients to upload the data placed on the server and use the loader utility.
    thanks in advance,

    Ella,
You don't say which version of SQL Developer you are using via Citrix, but just setting the SQLDEVELOPER_USER_DIR hasn't worked for a long time (see Re: SQLDEVELOPER_USER_DIR does not function anymore). Also, since version 1.5, the default for the user directory (now set via ide.user.dir as shown below) is under the user profile area (relative to %APPDATA%), which you should be able to write to, even on Citrix.
Assuming that neither of those help, you will need to get whoever installed SQL Developer on the Citrix C: drive to modify the sqldeveloper.conf to have a line like, where the path exists for everyone who will be using the shared SQL Developer (assumes everyone has a H: drive):
AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=H:\sqldeveloperAn alternative (depending on how you start SQL Developer via Citrix), is to create your own shortcut to start SQL Developer with something like:
    sqldeveloper -J-Dide.user.dir="%SQLDEVELOPER_USER_DIR%"theFurryOne

  • ADF Faces: !-- ERROR: could not create stylesheet for oracle-desktop.xss

    Hi,
I'm using ADF Faces EA6. Sometimes when I create the EAR, it doesn't include the file "oracle-desktop-ea6-ie-6-windows.css" which muest be present in the "adf/styles/cache" directory. If I check the source code from the browser, it starts like this:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"><html dir="ltr" lang="es-ES">
    <head><title>Sistema de Seguridad</title><meta name="generator" content="Oracle ADF Faces"><!-- ERROR: could not create stylesheet for oracle-desktop.xss --><script type="text/javascript" src="/fmv/adf/jsLibs/Commonea6.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">_defaultTZ()</script></head>
Please note the comment: <!-- ERROR: could not create stylesheet for oracle-desktop.xss -->
    Does somebody know the reason?
    TIA,
    Brian

If everything is set up properly the css will get generated if it doesn't exist. You do not have to be running in the IDE for the css to be correctly generated. Running the app first is generating the css before you deploy, so you've taken away the symptom but not solved the problem. If you try running on another browser, for example, you'll probably run into the same problem.
Does your ear get unzipped when you deploy? Do you have a writable file system for the css to get written to? There is a known issue with WebLogic where it doesn't expand the EAR.
Please check to see if there are errors in the logs.

    Hi,
Most of the instructions you have mentioned , already was configured.
except for the tmp and temp directories.
And even I changed them from System Properties >> Advanced >>  Environment Variable under User variable for Administrator and System variables , the problem still exist Os User and Group Check .
I attach the conf_VIS.txt file because I thought it may help.
    http://www.4shared.com/document/1bS6aio5/conf_VIS.html
Actually I am not sure about the rapid install patch version but I have download the EBS R12 from the following link and I think it contains the recent installer version

Note If you still can not open the link just suggest a suitable file hosting and I will upload to you. here I used 4shared and hoped it suits you.

  • Has anyone received this error, "Failed to create directory for PX images"

I recently migrated to Windows7.  98% of the migration went well. All of my pictures and Elements Catalog came over fine.  I had to "reconnect" all of the pictures in the catalog due to new directory name, but it worked fairly well.  Of the 11,000 entries synch'd with photoshop.com, 10,500 re-synch'd fine. However almost 500 are stuck with an error of "Failed to create directory for PX images".  Can anyone help with how to resolve this issue?  Note, I did try to remove the picture from the album and then re-add, but that didn't work.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
    Thanks,

What problems are you facing in deleting files from PS.com. Are you able to maintain a proper synced catalog now ? If possible please elaborate so that we can help.

  • Can't create disks for oracle ASM

Sorry for duplicating my post, I posted it in linux group, but don't know if I also can get help here.
    Hi, all advanced,
I am installing oracle 10gR2 in Fedora core 4, and I prefer to use oracle Automatic Storage Management feature. Since oracle doesn't support FC4, I have to set up rRHEL4 kernel core to install ASM driver and configure it. The things went well until I want to create disks for ASM, for example:
    # /etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk DISK1 /dev/hda5
Marking disk "/dev/hda5" as an ASM disk: asmtool: Unable to clear device "/dev/hda5": Input/Output error
When I install the FC4, /dev/hda5 is only one of the partitions in the physical disk, not a full independent physical disk. Same to other disks that I want to put into ASM disks. I google the net but didn't find any similar problem happened to other players. So I need your help!

    Hi Rafael,
What version are you using? I have had similar problems in the past. Worst case I had to recreate the widget and copy the coding across.
Can you send me the project file, I will understand also if you do not want to, I will try it on my machine.

  • Get Sequence Directory for property loader

    Hi,
Im using the property loader in order to retrieve test parameters for my different testroutines.
How do i get the directory where my sequence file is placed, so that my property loader wont care where the entire Folder is dropped and launched from, when trying to load my settings.
I know i can do this "RunState.SequenceFile.Path", but thats the FULL path to my sequence file, what if i only wanted the directory where the sequence file is placed.
It just seems obvious that there should be a function for this.
    (Vers. 3.1)
    Thx in Advance

I know this thread is a few years old but I thought I would append to it for the bennifit of anyone else looking for this specific answer, like I was.
In your property loader setup, on the source tab, select "Use Expression To Specify File" and type in:
    Left(ThisContext.RunState.SequenceFile.Path, Find( ThisContext.RunState.SequenceFile.Path, "\\",0,False,True  )) + "\\Limits.txt"
Where Limits.txt is whatever file name you want to use and the properity loader will look for the file in the same directory as the loaded sequence file.

    Welcome to the forum!
First of all: this is Oracle, write code the Oracle-way (not the SQL Server way... just guessing here)
You can't create and drop tables from within PL/SQL... (I know you can, but you shouldn't have to in most cases)
    just do this
    CREATE TABLE revext (person VARCHAR2(40),
    rev_jan NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_feb NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_mar NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_apr NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_mai NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_jun NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_jul NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_aug NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_sep NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_oct NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_nov NUMBER(4,0),
    rev_dez VARCHAR2(20))
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    TYPE oracle_loader
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY EXTERNAL_DATA
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE
    NOBADFILE
    NOLOGFILE
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    ( person CHAR,
    rev_jan CHAR,
    rev_feb CHAR,
    rev_mar CHAR,
    rev_apr CHAR,
    rev_mai CHAR,
    rev_jun CHAR,
    rev_jul CHAR,
    rev_aug CHAR,
    rev_sep CHAR,
    rev_oct CHAR,
    rev_nov CHAR,
    rev_dez CHAR
    LOCATION ('revext.txt')
    PARALLEL
REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;... assuming your code is correct - haven't checked it.
Than you will have your external table, which you can query and use anyway you want.. revext.txt is a comma-delimited file right?

  • Is Oracle still actively creating AMIs for Oracle Linux?

    Hi All,
I was wondering if any of you knows if Oracle is still actively creating new Oracle Linux AMIs for Amazon EC2? I can see the most recent one is Oracle Linux 6.1 while we are already at 6.3.
Now that Oracle has announced they are in the IaaS and PaaS business as well, do they stop supplying Amazon AMIs?
    Bart.

I would never deploy the first point release of a major release into production. In my experience, Oracle rolls out 2 "releases" of each major version. The SECOND release tends to be production-ready for shops with serious HA requirements. Usually, this Second release also contains sneak previews of the important features of the next major Version--but these should be considered version 1.0 features and not relied upon. The FIRST release of a major version will contain those important features in a strong form suitable for the vast majority of shops--but it will still have lots of bugs. If you have to bounce your instance even once a month to work around a bug, you aren't getting close to HA.
My advice--the most stable version will always be the terminal release of the last version--currently 9.2.0.6. Similarly, the last point release of R1 will be quite stable. Realistically, 98% of the customer base can live with occasional downtime and bug problems, and will enjoy the new features of the latest software. Even for them, I'd wait for the second point release or higher for production. QA and DEV are different stories--jump on the latest wave and write code using the newest features. But wait for the second point release before going into production. Typically it will be out in a few months and will fix the glaring bugs.

  • How to create JNDI for Oracle Apps Adapter

I have created a data-source(jdbc/testds) and connection pool which connects to apps schema in Weblogic console.
Then i go to Deployments-> Oracle Apps Adapter -> Configuration -> Outbound Connection Pools. In the Outbound Connection Pools table i expand "javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory" and then click New and select "javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory", click Next and give JNDI name "eis/apps/testds"
But when i try to execute my BPEL process that has a reference eis/apps/testds it throws a JCA binding error. Can someone please guide me on how to create a Apps adapter connection. Also i would like to know how to refresh the connection pool(we used to have this facility in Oracle Application Server).
    Thanks,

Can you once check the OA adapter check box in deployments and click update?

Can anyone answer me in detail soon..thanks
do tell me all the steps of removing oracle completely from computer

    Hi Khalid,
I did face the same problem removing Oracle 8.0.5. Even on installing some sub-dir and files would remain. i.e, the system dose not allow you to delete some files.
I disabled all the Oracle related services from the servises screen and then deleted the ORANT dir.
This cleaned my drive of any oracle files. Then I installed the Oracle 8i on the machine.
Hope this will be of some help to you.

  • Lookup directory for oracle listener

when starting listner using 'lsnrctl start', it always looks for listener.ora in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin. Is there any parameter I can change to control in which directory listener looks for listener.ora?

I think you can set the TNS_ADMIN entry in your regedit or environment variable on unix to point to the directory.

  • Which method is right  for creating directory

    Hi all
whenever we create directory for oracle 11g during installtion
we have two method from documents
    which method is right
Create the directories in which the Oracle software will be installed:
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1
    chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01
    chmod -R 775 /u01
    or
Create the directories in which the Oracle software will be installed:
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle
    chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01
    chmod -R 775 /u01

ORACLE_BASE is a base directory which is owned by oracle user. The software itself is installed in ORACLE_HOME. When you create ORACLE_HOME it creates you also ORACLE_BASE. That's the way to go. If you don't have ORACLE_HOME created Oracle Universal Installer might complain or fail.
