Create DSN in admin tool using domain account

Hi. We're moving away from SQL authentication and using
domain accounts for SQL Server authentication. How does one create
a data source in the admin site to use a domain account? Is this
possible? We're using ColdFusion 6.1. Thanks.

We've tried that and get the following error,
Connection verification failed for data source: myDataSource
[]java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
Driver][SQLServer]Login failed for user 'MYDOMAIN\domainAccount'.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Login failed for user
'MYDOMAIN\domainAccount'.
The account exists on the SQL Server 2005 database and has
read/write privileges.

I'm trying to create a scheduled task (computer configuration) in GPOPref which is executed by the system account. Creating locally and running the task manually is running without issues.
When I'm creating the task in a GPOPref using a domain account the task is installed on the targetsystem. When just changeing the account to System and run gpupdate the task is not deployed.
Any hints or workaround? Thanks for you help in advance.

Please post the XML of your task in the state that is not working (right
click - all tasks - display xml).

Unable to import metadata using OBI 11g Admin tool

Hello folks,
I am new to OBI. I am trying to build a RPD. For that purpose I am trying to import some tables from database but I am unable to. I created DSN and also tried using OCI but no help. The OBI Admin tool client and database is installed under other user's account. Is that the reason I am unable to import tables?
I am getting this error:
Internal Error-Unable to initialize NLS during driver load - When I try to use ODBC &
Connection failed --When I try to use OCI.
Can someone shed some light on this issue.

Use Call Interface: Default (OCI 10g/11g)
Data source Name->hostname:port/ServiceName or TNS name
like
localhost:1521/XE
make sure you able to ping connect the database using tnsentry or
tnsping <tnsname>
from command prompt.

I cannot open the document reference you provided. However, in my view, a workflow design document is no difefrent than any other technical design documen (TDD)t. It may have few different sections to enumerate the process and actual steps.
I have always used a standard TDD, per my client templates, and then added the sections needed to list the workflow specific items.

How to add domain account manager to executable?

Hi All,
LabVIEW 8.6.1 + DSC 8.6.1
I have created local domain and some test users by using domain account manager. I also set user access levels to frontpanel indicators and controls. After that I build an .exe from my application.
When I install or move this application to other computer how I can also transfer my domain configuration to that second computer. It is assumed that these computers cannot be in same network..Can I someway add domain account manager to executable or should I install manager manually that second computer. I can't install whole labview that second computer...

Yoga 2 Pro - Veriface doesnt work with Domain Account

I have a Yoga 2 Pro and I can get Veirface to work fine with a local account but it will not work with a Domain Account. I can get it to where it prompts me for the Domain Account Password (as it should the 1st time) but when you enetr the proper password, it tells you ints invalid etc. I have tried changing the Domain Password but it acts like it just cant locate the account etc. Does anyone know if this is a known issue or if there is a resolution to this?

I have two accounts
1. valentia\mubi (which is domain account)
2. Mubi (which is local laptop account)
When i use register my account with veriface, it work fine with Mubi
When i use to register my account with valentia\mubi it say wrong password..
I even deleted local i.e. Mubi account but still no luck!

There is no merge but you can move data from one account to another via the Shared folder. Data is copied from Shared. Watch your free space when copying. These are large files. Do one at a time if you are on a small drive. After making copy, delete from other users before you start next copy.
Office365 installs in the main Applications folder and is available for all users on the computer. Activation is tied to the drive not the User.

Unable to Open RPD in online mode by using the Admin tool in OBIEE 11g.

Hi All,
I Installed OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5) in Linux Box.
When I am trying to Open the RPD in online mode by using the Admin tool, I am facing the below error.
Logon failed due to:[nqsError:43113] Message returned from obis
[nQSError:13037] Cannot connect to BI Security Service,please make sure this is running properly (with SSL ot not) in EM.
[nQSError:37001] Couldnot connect to the Oracle BI Server Instance.
All my services are up and the status are Alive,My biserver is in Running Mode and I am able to open the Answers page too.
I am able to open the same RPD in Offline mode but not in Online mode.
I Created a System DSN in ODBC Data Source Administrator for opening the RPD by using the OracleBIServer1 driver,still the issue doesnt resolve.
Any help is highly appreciated.

The Resolution is
While Installing the RCU i created two instances so the RPD is not able to take the correct instance.After deleting the other instance now i am able to open the RPD in online mode as it is pointing to only one instance.

Not able to import metadata using BI Admin tool

Hi folks,
I've installed OBIEE 11g server(Version 11.1.1.6.0) in my local machine which is lying on Windows 7 environment. Tried importing metadata(Oracle Database) using BI Admin tool, it throws "The Connection has failed" error.
I've copied TNSNAMES.ora file to the path D:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\network\admin and D:\Oracle\Middleware\oracle_common\network\admin(In D:\Oracle\Middleware\oracle_common\network, admin was not there, I've created a new folder with name admin and placed the TNSNAMES.ora file over there).
Have modified the user.cmd and bi_init.cmd files in the below path D:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIApplication\coreapplication\setup
Any help would be appreciated

The problem was your tnsnames.ora file your not please in the right path.
Check this steps:
Copy the tnsnames.ora from Oracle Database home (ORACLE_HOME\NETWORK\ADMIN\) to the following locations.
Step 1 - <obiee11g_home>\OracleBI1\network\admin
Step 2 - <obiee11g_home>\oracle_common\network\admin
Set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable value with one of the copied locations in the step 1 in user.cmd or user.sh file depending on your OS.
This file will be found under <obiee11g_home>\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIApplication\coreapplication\setup
Solution:

Portno - 1531 (This port no is default port in oracle)
Service Name – ORCL
OBIEE FOLDER
C:\OBIEE\oraclebi\orainst\config\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication
Tnsname.ora (need to have this file in the above path which is same in ORACLE FOLDER)
GOTO – Start – Control panel – Administrative Tool – Data Source(ODBC) in this
1. Goto System DSN tab
2. Select Add at right side
3. A new pop-up window opens – ‘Create New Data Source’
4. Select from the list – Oracle in OraClient11g_Home
5. A pop-up window opens –‘Oracle ODBC Driver Configaration’ in that
6. Data Source name – Mandatory (You can give any name) e.g –ORACLE DSN
7. Description – Optional (you can give r leave it blank).
8. TNS Service Name – HOST:PORT/Data Source Name e.g –xxxx.xxxxxxx.com:1531/ORCL (xxxx.xxxxxx.com may be IP Address also)
9. User ID – Give Database USERID (If you are going to take data from SERVER you have to give Server Data Base USER ID / If you are going to take data from Local Machine use your Local machine database User id ) e.g –USER id – ‘system’ where password is – ‘Manager’

Acess Denied and No Admin tools and account

In have somehow changed the security settings for users in network. I cant use any admin tools now it says 'access denied' and if i try logging onto my admin account it creates a temporary account.
I even tried to change the settings under security but i am not allowed to make any changes to anything, keeps saying 'access denied'.
Any solutions??

Hi,
According to your description, the command Get-ECPVirtualDirectory returns nothing. This may be the key point that you cannot access EAC. And I also recommend you check if there is ECP virtual directory in your default web site.

Risk of using domain admin to deploy software

Is there a risk of using domain admin to deploy software such antivirus? the antivirus server uses domain admin account to deploy the av agent for client computers. So if a client computer has password stealer tool , is it there a chance that it will
steal the password?

as administrator i do not use password stealer tool, but my concern is if the end user has this kind of tools in his machine, will he be able to get the domain admin password while the AV is doing installation on his machine. i am afraid that this tool will
capture the password during the install process on the client computer. i hope using domain admin to install programs does not involve using password on the client computer.

When I use migration assistant it won't let me use my account name that I'm signed in with. It requires me to select a different user name and then creates a separate account where my files live. Why can't I select the user name and account name I have?

I'm trying to migrate my music and pictures over to my new iMac. When I use the migration assistant it connects to my PC fine but it won't let me use the account name and username that I have created as the admin. It requires me to create a new user account - so then I have two separate accounts to log in to which i don't want. How do I get it to let me use the current account that I have to move my files to?

Migration Assistant creates a new account and migrates all the information you have requested to that new account. There is no way around that. However once migrated you can move the data to the account you want to. Here are some instructions for doing so:

I have a single user admin account that I set up when I got my PowerBook. Now I want to have two accounts with the new one being the admin account. This way I can leave most of the data files, email accounts, etc. with the old account and use the new one for personal data and admininistration. Then I could give out the password for the original account without fear that a user could change permissions and get access to the new account with the personal data. Can I create a new admin account and then change the original account to "Standard" instead of "admin"? What problems will this create?

answered if. Here's how.
Apple Menu > System Prefs > Accounts. Click on the +
under User Options to create new account. Go to
Security and check box at bottom to make account
admin. You can take care of the other items, picture
etc, login options etc.
To make the other account Standard select the
account, go to Security and deselect box "Allow User
to Administer".

If you are referring the Master Password that can be set in System Preferences>Security>FileVault, then see this thread:

As explained there, and for obvious security reasons, a new master password created in this fashion way will not unlock any pre-existing FileVault accounts. Resetting the master password is therefore only useful after you turn off FileVault in all existing accounts. You can then turn FileVault back on after the new master password is in place.

SQL server 2012 does not see local disks other than C being started under domain account (which is local admin on the server)

Hi all. We have a SQL Server 2012 installed to a fresh Windows Server 2012 Server. There is a service account domain\rusystem01 created to run SQL services. It is added as a Local administrator on this server.
The issue is that SQL Server does not see any local drives (other than C drive) on the server if we run it from this domain service account (for example, we cannot move any databases to any other drives or setup backup).
It works fine (and other drives ARE available) if SQL Services are started from Network service account or Local service account (which is not recommended by Microsoft). But does not work from domain account.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Apply NTFS ACLs for the folders (and perhaps volumes*) for SQL Server. Use the Per-Service SID, rather than the Service Account for the ACLs so they survive changing the service account.
The per-service SID is "NT Service\MSSQLSERVER" for a default instance and "NT Service\MSSQL$InstanceName" for a named instance.
*Volume ACLs are set in Disk Management.

David, would you please clarify what do you propose? I open D: volume on the Disk management and grant NT Service\MSSQL$DEV account with Full control permissions. Restarted SQL - no effect. Still only C: is visible for SQL.
