Create huge Waited-Session in a particular moment in Oracle 10g

Friends,
I m new in Oracle 10g database . I m working in a bank and Our production server runs in Oracle 10g in AIX server . We also running an application server with Oracle 10g database . Recently I got a strange problem in my production server .I have a schema called 'schemafe' which contains all of our users who are using the application mainly. They connect into my database via this schema .
Now recently , the users of this schema increase the "WAITED-SESSION" in our production server . And at that moment another users are hanged on . And after 10/15 minutes it becomes normal .
In this situation, can anybody plz help me to give a suggestion that how can I tune my database and remove this type of problem ? And for this situation , which things I need to tune or monitor .
Waiting for ur kind reply .. ..

    What user interface are you using?
    If the tool doesn't support the SQL*Plus syntax (set serveroutput on), it probably has an option somewhere to enable DBMS Output. Not even knowing what tool you're using, it's impossible for us to guess where that option might be configured.
    As others have suggested, using DBMS Output to test code is less than ideal because you're dependent on the application you're using to display it to you and not every application can or will do that. If you want to use DBMS_Output, you may need to switch to a different GUI (SQL Developer or SQL*Plus are both free utilities from Oracle). Otherwise, you'd probably be better off having the trigger do something that you can subsequently query (i.e. write a row to a log table).

  • Creating sublevels under levels for a dimension in AWM Oracle 10g

    In Analytic Workspace Manager Oracle 10g, How can I create more sublevels under a particular level in a dimension?
    for eg. Year is a dimension.It has 2 levels , Quarter and Month.
    Under Quarter level I want to have Qtr1 and Qtr2 as sublevels.
    Under Month level I want to have Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,May,June as sublevels.
    so that Qtr1 has Jan,Feb,Mar, and Qtr2 has Apr,May,June

    You need to do this in your source table.
    The source table can look something like this
    qtr_id, qtr_name, month_id, month_name
    1 , Qtr1 , 101 , january
    1 , Qtr1 , 102 , febuary
    1 , Qtr1 , 103 , march
    2 , Qtr2 , 104 , april
    2 , Qtr2 , 105 , may
    2 , Qtr2 , 106 , june
    Then map it to the dimension, and maintain it.
    Keep in mind that the member(id) fields need to be unique. I.E january 2007 and january 2006 cannot have the same id.

  • Can we create wallet at User Level to implement TDE in Oracle 10g

    Hi
    I am going to use a Oracle 10g TDE security feature for data security.I have gone through with lots document.Everywhere there is mention to open or close a Wallet at system level.I mean ALTER SYSTEM..that means except DBA no one can see the encrypted column.
    But my requirement is bit different,I want to encrypt the column based on user.
    lets take example- Suppose we have one table TEST with C1,C2,C3,C4,C5,C6 column and there is U1,U2,U3 user.I want to encrypt C1 and C3 for U1 , C2 and C5 for U2 , C4 and C6 for U3 and U1,U2 and U3 can see only all columns except encrypted column.
    My question is Can we apply TDE at User level rather than system level.
    Any ideas or thought would be appreciable.
    Thanks in advance.
    ANwar

    The idea of TDE is to provide data protection on storage media, so when your backup tapes drop from the truck or the hard disk of a stolen laptop is sold online, encrypted data remains encrypted and can't be read by anyone.
    It seems to me as if you try to achieve access control by encryption, which you don't need: If users have sufficient privileges or the business need to see data, then they should be granted access and see the data de-crypted. Otherwise, access control mechanisms (roles, views, VPD, OLS) should kick in and hide the rows from them.
    So, for day-to-day business of your database, the wallet needs to be open, so that the database can de-crypt data for users who have been granted to see credit card numbers etc., but then limit access to credit card numbers they are not allowed to see with other measures. There is a little hands-on for TDE and VPD here:

  • Create a new user for oracle 10G ASM instance with sysdba system privilege

    Hi,
    In our Golden Gate Project, we require the SYS user credential to connect to the Oracle 10g  ASM instance to read the database transaction logs.But our client is not providing the SYS user credential to  connnect to ASM instance.
    I'm getting the error message "ORA-01109:  database not open",When I tried to create a new user using the  below the steps in oracle 10g ASM instance
    1. Login using "sqlplus / as sysdba"
    2. Create user <username> identified by <password>;
    But in oracle 11g ASM instance, I'm able to create new  user  by connecting the ASM instance with SYSASM role without issues.
    Is there is any workaround to create a new user with sysdba system privilege in oracle 10g ASM instance?.
    Thanks in advance .

    Hi,
    Recreate the password file for the ASM instance as follows:
    Unix:
    orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/dbs/PWD<SID> password=<sys_password>
    Windows:
    orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/database/PWD<SID>.ora password=<sys_password>
    Now sys password is reset, we are ready to use sys for ASM management. I decided to create another user ASMDBA as I tried above.
    SQL> create user ASMDBA identified by test01;
    User created.
    SQL> grant SYSASM, SYSOPER to ASMDBA;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> select * from v$pwfile_users;
    USERNAME SYSDBA SYSOPE SYSASM
    SYS TRUE TRUE TRUE
    ASMDBA FALSE TRUE TRUE
    Please see this link : http://orachat.com/how-to-change-asm-sys-password-creating-sysasm-user-11g/
    Thank you

  • Hash join ending up in huge wait events

    Hi,
    We are experiencing huge wait events ( direct path read temp , direct path write temp) on our Materialized View refresh in 10.2.0.4 version of oracle 10g in linux rhel5 environment while monitoring the refresh session from db console. While checking the explain plan of the mv query there is a huge hash_join (due to self join nature of the query) is shown. As advised in some dba forums, i have increased my pga_aggregate_target to a value of 4 gb from 1800 mb. The PGA_HIT % is raised to 60% from 58% ( just 2% improvement). But still my direct path read temp and direct path write temp wait event have not reduced and a huge temp space is taken for hash join.
    Since we have some usage limit set by some hidden parameters for a each session on pga_aggregate_target, increase the size did not helped me much. The mv refresh is taking more than 5 hours ( sometimes it exceeds 5 hrs) to completes it refresh where as the same query in window (production) is completed less than two hours. Before a month, the refresh time in both environment was nearly close. But now it has changed and not able to figure it out.
    STATISTICS have been collected regularly using dbms_gather_stats in both environment. Both mv refresh are scheduled to run using dbms_scheduler (Manual refresh). SGA_TARGET and other memory parameters are almost same.
    Environment : Dataware house
    O/s : RHEL 5
    Oracle version : 10.2.0.4
    Work_policy=auto
    Is there any possibility to reduce this wait event and there by reducing the elapsed time? I am also interested to know changing the plan to use other sort will help? I don't know whether the details are sufficient to analyze this issue. If you need more details on this just let me know.
    I really appreciate your help and thanks in advance to all.

    Its bug 9041800 and there is a 10.2.0.4 backport available as of 01/29/10.How can i get this bug fixed since there is no explanation of what need to be done? Do i need to contact oracle support for the 10.2.0.4 backport for RHEL5?
    Thanks in advance

  • LSMW  Create Batch Input Session

    Hi all
    when I use LSMW to upload data. every step is OK, but at the NO. 13 step ' 13 Create Batch Input Session', it always set the 'Display Trnacts per BI Folder' field a  default value '1' .I must clear the defautl value and let the field to black so I can create ONE session.
    why it always set a default value '1' in the 'Display Trnacts per BI Folder' field ??
    anybody can help me?

    It shows the no. of transactions covered in a particular session. Like if you have 1000 records in your load file and if u put 500 transactions as value then it will create 2 sessions of 500 each. And if you leave it blank then by default also it will create 1 session......
    Best Luck,

  • 11g SOA with AIA suddenly creates huge temp files(sar files)!!

    Hi All,
    One of our clients that is on 11g SOA with AIA, the team observed while deploying applications, that it suddenly creates huge temp files(sar files) and the server slows down and then shuts down, has anyone seen such behavior or possible reasons?
    If anyone could share such prior experience would be apreciated!
    Thanks for your time!
    Regards,

    Hi Ajay,
    Could you check the managed server logs on the server you are deploying to? I prefer the soa_server1.out file if its available. Hopefully there is something more telling on that side.
    My gut feeling is that there is a schema required by the ProcessFulfillmentOrderBillingBRMCommsAddSubProcess process has not been deployed (which sometimes happens with this PIP in particular).

  • How to create a new session in JSP file

    Usually a child IE window uses same session with parent window. Dose someone know how to create a new session when creating a new IE window by clicking a URL in parent window? The web page is writen by jsp file.

    I am not sure of your question. Are you wanting to have 2 Session objects (one for the parent window and another for the child)?
    A session is usually created once per client and is stored on the server the session id is carried around in a cookie or a URL rewrite so that everytime the user submits a page you will be able to store/access information.
    // this will create a new session object if one doesn't already exist.
    HttpServletRequest.getSession( true );
    Hope this helps

  • Creating multiple stateful session beans from a java client. (EJB 3.0)

    I'm having difficulties with the following:
    To access the ShoppingCartBean, I have to put the following annotation in my standalone java client:
    @EJB
    private static ShoppingCartRemote shoppingCartBean;
    The static must be there, thus only one ShoppingCartBean will exist within my java client. But as the ShoppingCartBean is a stateful session bean, I want to be able to get different beans of the same type.
    What is the correct way to do this in EJB 3.0?

    Great question. Because Home interfaces have been removed for the EJB 3.0 simplified
    API, stateful session bean creation happens as a side-effect of injection. However, the
    same is true of EJB 3.0 business interface lookups. The easiest way to create additional
    stateful session beans is to lookup the same dependency that was declared via your
    @EJB annotation.
    E.g.,
    // Assuming the declaring class is pkg1.ShoppingCartClient.java
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
    ShoppingCartRemote scr1 = (ShoppingCartRemote)
    ic.lookup("java:comp/env/pkg1.ShoppingCartClient/shoppingCartBean");
    Note that the name relative to java:comp/env is the default associated with your
    @EJB annotation since the name() attribute wasn't used. Alternatively, you
    could have used :
    @EJB(name="scb") private static ShoppingCartRemote shoppingCartBean;
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
    ShoppingCartRemote scr1 = (ShoppingCartRemote) ic.lookup("java:comp/env/scb");
    Yet another alternative is to declare the @EJB at the class-level. This just defines
    the dependency without any injection, which is fine if you want to create a bunch of
    them via lookup anyway.
    @EJB(name="scb", beanInterface=ShoppingCartRemote.class)
    public class .... {

    Hi Scott,
    Did you get to the bottom of this?
    We're experiencing exactly the same symptoms, except we're upgrading 8.1 -> 10.3
    App works fine on a single server, as soon as a second server is brought into the cluster we get the same exception.
    I'm checking the configs now for anything suspicious...

  • To create a new session on the clcik of a button in Bsp.

    If have application A.
    On the click of the button i want to create a new session of application B.
    I used the method
    cl_http_ext_webapp=>create_url_for_bsp_application
    for calling the application B.
    but the session is maintained.
    How shall i proceed so that my application creates a new session.

    I am curious.  Both Raja and I suggest the same fix:
    >Now you probably want to add the url parameter sap-sessioncmd. There is the value open that will start a new session
    >'?sap-sessioncmd=open' and use this url for navigating.
    You said that his solution worked and mine did not.  The only difference is that I suggested that you use cl_bsp_runtime=>construct_bsp_url instead of cl_http_ext_webapp=>create_url_for_bsp_application.  This recommendation comes right from the source; cl_bsp_runtime=>construct_bsp_url is the prefered method for constructing URLs.  I am curious the other method somehow produce different results?

  • How to reduce buffer busy waits, session hanging due to buffer busy waits

    Hi,
    How to reduce buffer busy waits, session hanging due to buffer busy waits.
    Thanks,
    Sathis.

    When I see through enterprise manager I see lot of
    tables with buffer busy waits.
    Is there any way by table name we can check the
    blocks info.
    The simple way is to look at the SQL statement and corresponding table name?
    P1=file#, P2=block#. You can extract segment name(table or index) using this info.
    Query v$bh like following:
    SQL> select file#, block#, class#, objd from v$bh where file# = P1 and block# = P2;
    SQL> select object_name from all_objects where object_id = <objd>;See following doc:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_1051.htm
    Or you can dump block:
    SQL> alter system dump datafie <P1> block <P2>;Some excerpts from block dump:
    scn: 0x07df.17e70782 seq: 0x01 flg: 0x04 tail: 0x07822301
    frmt: 0x02 chkval: 0x61d0 type: 0x23=PAGETABLE SEGMENT HEADER
    Map Header:: next  0x00000000  #extents: 1    obj#: 55881  flag: 0x10000000>
    Can we do something at table level that will reduce
    the waits.
    Yes, some methods are known. But before thinking of that, you must verify which block class and which access are involved.
    Typo... always. :(
