Creating sublevels under levels for a dimension in AWM Oracle 10g

In Analytic Workspace Manager Oracle 10g, How can I create more sublevels under a particular level in a dimension?
for eg. Year is a dimension.It has 2 levels , Quarter and Month.
Under Quarter level I want to have Qtr1 and Qtr2 as sublevels.
Under Month level I want to have Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,May,June as sublevels.
so that Qtr1 has Jan,Feb,Mar, and Qtr2 has Apr,May,June

You need to do this in your source table.
The source table can look something like this
qtr_id, qtr_name, month_id, month_name
1 , Qtr1 , 101 , january
1 , Qtr1 , 102 , febuary
1 , Qtr1 , 103 , march
2 , Qtr2 , 104 , april
2 , Qtr2 , 105 , may
2 , Qtr2 , 106 , june
Then map it to the dimension, and maintain it.
Keep in mind that the member(id) fields need to be unique. I.E january 2007 and january 2006 cannot have the same id.

    I create trigger but not display massage after insert in oracle 10g
    **CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER TableName**
    **AFTER INSERT OR DELETE OR UPDATE ON test**
    **BEGIN**
    **if inserting then**
    **dbms_output.put('Message');**
    **end if;**
    **END;**

    What user interface are you using?
    If the tool doesn't support the SQL*Plus syntax (set serveroutput on), it probably has an option somewhere to enable DBMS Output. Not even knowing what tool you're using, it's impossible for us to guess where that option might be configured.
    As others have suggested, using DBMS Output to test code is less than ideal because you're dependent on the application you're using to display it to you and not every application can or will do that. If you want to use DBMS_Output, you may need to switch to a different GUI (SQL Developer or SQL*Plus are both free utilities from Oracle). Otherwise, you'd probably be better off having the trigger do something that you can subsequently query (i.e. write a row to a log table).

  • Creating a member list for Custom3 dimension

    Hello gurus. I'm trying to create a member list for my custom3 dimension based on the UD1. I keep getting this error: Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment: HS.AddMember ToList. Here's my script. Can someone let me know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks
    Sub EnumMemberLists()
    Dim aCustom3Lists(2)
    Select Case HS.Dimension
    Case "Custom3"
         aCustom3Lists(1) = "Reporting Sector - SPS"
         aCustom3Lists(2) = "Tax Provision - US"
    HS.SetMemberLists aCustom3Lists
    End Select 'Dimension
    End Sub 'EnumMemberLists
    Case "Custom3"
    Select Case HS.MemberListID
    Case 1
         'Reporting Sector
         ELi=Hs.Custom3.List("","[Base]")
         For i = Lbound(ELi) to Ubound(ELi)
         If (StrComp(HS.Custom3.UD1(ELi(i)),"SPS",vbTextCompare)=0) Then
         HS.AddMemberToList (""),ELi(i)
         End If
    End Select ' Case HS.MemberListID

    Hi,
    An obvious reason that your code throws a number of arguments error to the AddMemberToList function, is that the line should read like this:
    HS.AddMemberToList ELi(i)However, in your code I see that there are also some incomplete structures, like the for-loop is not ended with a next and the whole paragraph after "End Sub 'EnumMemberLists" should be followed by a "Sub EnumMembersInList()". But I assume that you have omitted those in order to be short.

  • Tool for Viewing 3D data in Oracle 10g

    Hi,
    I had uploaded the 3D DGN format Data from FME Oracle Suite to Oracle 10g database.
    the following tables were created
    TESTASH_SDODIM TABLE
    TESTASH_SDOLAYER TABLE
    TESTASH_SDOGEOM TABLE
    TESTASH_SDOINDEX TABLE
    TESTASH TABLE
    When we are trying to browse the data using AutoCAD of any other viewer, we are unable to find this table in that particular user. Whereas if we run a sql command and run a sql query we are able to get the record count.
    Can you suggest something to view this data.
    Thanks and Regards
    Ashish Dhawan

    Ok.. I'd bet then that there are no entries in USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA AKA MDSYS.SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE. FME view needs to find an entry in there to show you it in the dialog so you can pick the table. The same holds true for views of tables, there needs to be an entry, although I find it somewhat ironic that it then goes on to not know what projection the data is in.
    Also, the viewer will pick the first SDO_GEOMETRY column it finds. So if you have more than one, you will then need to make a view for just that column.
    Anyway, add an entry into the table, and you should be good to go.

  • Looking for a Web Interface for Editing Data in an Oracle 10g Database

    Greetings all!
    My organization is implementing Oracle 10g Release 2 Enterprise version. We have an employee who will need to edit data in the database which will hold staff phone numbers, email addresses, and other contact information. This employee will never need to administer the database or develop tables, queries, etc. They will only need to add and remove rows of data and edit text values stored in a database table.
    Does Oracle 10g have a built-in, browser-based tool that can be used to edit data in a table via a friendly user interface? If no, can you please recommend an easy to use tool for editing data in an Oracle database?
    Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Rachel

    Justin,
    Thanks very much for the tip!
    Do you know if Oracle 10g has any kind of built-in tool for editing data? I have heard of "The Vault", but that appears to be a tool for administering database users, reports, etc. I am looking for some kind of tool that shows the data in a grid layout (like Microsoft Excel) and allows someone to edit and save data in that grid. A web-based tool would be best, but a desktop tool (especially if it's already part of Oracle 10g) would also be good.
    Thanks again,
    Rachel

  • Locale values for the arabic db in oracle 10g

    Please suggest me the locale values for the Oracle 10g client/server that can store arabic data.
    Please also suggest me the best value for the "Database character set".
    Note: Both my client and server will be installed on the Arabic version of Windows XP.

    Possible character sets for Arabic are AL16UTF16, AL32UTF8, AR8ISO8859P6, AR8MSWIN1256, UTF8
    I suggest to use AL32UTF8 as database character set.
    so NLS_LANG at client side would be e.g. ARABIC_QATAR.AL32UTF8 ({NLS_LANGUAGE}_{NLS_TERRITORY}.{CHARACTERSET})
    Check [Locale Data|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/applocaledata.htm] for other possible supported languages, territories, character sets. (you can even see recommended character sets in this page)

  • EMAIL NOTIFICATION FOR DBMS_SCHDEULER JOB STATUS IN ORACLE 10G

    Hi All,
    I want to configure email notification for the job which is running through BUMS_SCHEDULER in oracle 10g
    Please provide the steps for configuration of the email notification.
    Thanks
    Mak

    Is your problem that you do not know how to send an email from Oracle 10g? If so then you use the UTL_MAIL package.
    Here's an example of calling it as part of a scheduler chain, not strictly what you're asking for but this lets you define success and failure steps and call each one based on the status of previous steps.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_PROGRAM (
       program_name           =>'prg_Export_Success',
       program_type           =>'PLSQL_BLOCK',
       program_action         =>q'[BEGIN
                                    UTL_MAIL.SEND (
                                       sender      => 'who_its_from',
                                       recipients  => '[email protected]',
                                       subject     => 'subject line',
                                       message     => 'the message',
                                       mime_type   => 'text/plain; charset=us-ascii');
                                    END;]',
       number_of_arguments      => 0,
       enabled                  => TRUE,
       comments                 => 'Email success');
    end;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.DEFINE_CHAIN_STEP (
       chain_name      =>  'Export',
       step_name       =>  'stp_EXPORT_SUCCESS',
       program_name    =>  'PRG_EXPORT_SUCCESS');
    END;
    /... then define appropriate rules.

    Two important . Sql scirpt file namely create_user.sql and quote.sql used to create the database tables under "quote" schema available on e:/bpm/sql
    i could create "quote" schema by this command on commandline,
    >cd e:/bpm/sql
    >sqlplus sys/welcome as sysdba @create_user.sql quote quote
    but when creating database tables under "quote" schema , i got "SP2-0734 - unknown command exception thrown
    in commandline i was used like this to create table,
    >sqlplus quote quote @quote.sql
    Can anyone who familiar with database query concept help me to create tables on "quote " schema,
    thanks in advance

    Hello,
    Please find enclosed a complete chapter about the CREATE TABLE statement:

  • Create service under Windows for SUn application server 8.2

    I am trying to create a service on a Windows Server 2003 with the sc utilities. I am following the doc's syntax
    C:\\windows\\system32\\sc.exe create myservice binPath= "C:\\Sun\\AppServer\\
    lib\\appservService.exe \\"C:\\Sun\\AppServer\\bin\\asadmin.bat start-domain domain1\\"
    \\"C:\\Sun\\AppServer\\bin\\asadmin.bat stop-domain domain1\\""
    start=auto DisplayName= "SunJavaSystemAppServer DOMAIN1"
    The command does not complete. Why are there double backslash?
    All the path are right , so it seem to be a syntax issue
    Thanks
    Steve Lavoie

    May I ask which document was this? The proper one should be this section of 8.2 Administration guide:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4712/6n6rit5q6?a=view
    Take a look at the sample provided there and adjust it for your installation path if necessary - there are no double backslash characters and this should work. Post if you are still running into problems.

  • FAST refresh not working for Cube & Dimensions in AWM

    Hi,
    My doubt is regarding refreshing cube/dimension using FAST refresh method in AWM
    1     My dimension (MVIEW refresh enabled in AWM) is refreshed without an error when I pass the refresh method parameter as *'F'* in DBMS_CUBE.BUILD() script, although there is no MVIEW log present on the dim table.
         In ALL_MVIEWS.LAST_REFRESH_TYPE, a *'COMPLETE'* refresh is logged.
    2. My CUBE doesn't allow to select refresh_type=FAST when there is no MVIEW log built.
         The same CUBE (MVIEW refresh enabled, refresh_type=FAST in AWM) throws following error even when I create Mview logs for all fact and dimension tables in the DB.
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    If your object is to process the cube as quickly as possible, MV refresh of the cube is probably not required. As an alternative, you can do the following:
    - Map the cube to a view and use a filter control what data is presented to the cube during a refresh.
    - Avoid dimension maintenance (adding new members, dropping members, changing parent-child relationships).
    Let's say you update your cube daily with sales data coming from 10,000 stores. You could add a LAST_UPDATED column to the source fact table, timestamp rows whenever the fact table is updated and then filter on that column in a view to present only the new or changed records to the cube (or whatever filtering scheme you might like).
    Dimensions are always entirely processed (compiled) regardless of what data is presented to them, so there isn't any advantage to timestamping the records in the dimension table and filtering on them. What is important to understand is that any change to a hierarchy (adding members, deleting members, changing parentage) will trigger re-aggregation of the cube. If you can batch those changes periodically you can limit how much of the cube is processed during a refresh.
    Continuing with the example of the daily update of the sales cube, we can examine two scenarios. In both cases, the cube is partitioned by month and a fact view filters for only the new or updated fact records (let's say there are new records every day).
    Scenario 1
    New records are added to the sales fact table and new stores are added to the store dimension table each day. The store dimension will be updated with new stores, new records will be loaded from the fact table and all partitions will be processed (loaded and solved/aggregated).
    Scenario 2
    New records are added to the fact table, but new stores loaded into the store dimension only once a week (e.g., Saturday). The fact view filters for only new or changed records and stores that currently exist in the store dimension. For Sunday through Friday, new or changed records will be loaded from the fact table and only those partitions in the cube that have new or updated data will be solved / aggregated. (If there are no changes to hierarchies and no records are loaded into a partition, that partition is not solved / aggregated). On Saturday, new stores are added to the store dimension table and the store dimension and the cube are updated. Because the store dimension has changed, all partitions of the will be processed.
    With scenario 1, data for new stores are available each day but the entire cube might be solved each day (if there are new stores). In scenario two, new stores are not available until Saturday but the processing of the cube will be limited to only those partitions where there is new fact data.

  • How to achieve same functionality for String as java in oracle 10g

    Example:
    In java if I use
    --------------->>>
    String.format("%03d", 11) then it will give me result 011
    String.format("%03d", 1111) then it will give me result 1111
    I need same result in Oracle also for a stored procedure. I have used to_char() and lpad() both the function but couldn't get the desirable.
    I'm new to this. Please forgive for this silly question and help me.

    to_char, like this:
    with my_tab as (select 11 col1 from dual union all
                    select 1111 col1 from dual union all
                    select 8 col1 from dual)
    -- end of mimicking data in a table called my_tab
    select col1, to_char(col1, 'fm9999099')) formatted_col1
    from   my_tab;
          COL1 FORMATTED_COL1
            11 011
          1111 1111
             8 008  ETA: You need to make sure that the format mask in the to_char has enough characters to hold the largest number, and that the zero is in the position you want smaller numbers to be padded to (eg. in the example above, the 0 is in the 3rd from the right position).
    Edited by: Boneist on 22-Apr-2010 11:34
    ETA2: as reminded by odie_63, the fm in the format removes the spaces from the resulting string.
