Create line chart/graph

Hi,
I've created a waveform chart that takes in an integer data point every seven seconds. I'd prefer it if the chart directly connected the data points to form a line chart instead of going down to zero during the seven seconds between readings. I checked around labview briefly but couldnt find any line charts. Is there a setting I can chanhe of a type of chart i should use to get a basic line graph?
THanks

The default chart is a 'line chart'. Right click on the plot legend and look at the interpolation. Unless you changed the Fill Base Line option, the chart will not drop to zero unless you are passing it a zero value.

    I found it very easy to produce a line chart in a window container using FM GFW_PRES_SHOW.  In my case this produces a basic line graph with three lines across 15 time periods.
    See transaction GRAL for various chart types...they're relatively easy to produce...  I picked DEMO_GFW_PRES_SHOW report program from GRAL as my example for how to produce a simple line chart very quickly.

    Dear Experts,
    I have a requiremnet to generate a specific Line Chart in SAP. User will execute one program which will provide a report. The report will be a simple ALV grid report where User needs a customized Graph button. On clicking the button the program should generate the sample graph provided above. Curently I am working in SAP 4.6C version. I know SAP has already provide few chart and diagram display functionalities which are present in ALV. But above Line Chart is not among those. How to acheive the above objective?

    Dear Mathews and Kai,
                   Thanks for the help extended by you all regarding the problem faced by me. I didn't adopt the ways as per explained by you, but I studied a lot and procedures to create custom graph as per said by you. I found a unique way to achive my target by manipulating the variable list data and calculating the constant value of Upper/ Lower Threshold level. In this way I used the same old ALV grid technique to obtain the graph. Thanks for your help.

  • Problem creating line chart with character data

    I want to create a line chart with data from a SQL2K table to show how much server time each application uses per day. All data is defined a character.
    HWA,4/24/2007,01:44.6HWA,4/25/2007,12.28HWB,4/24/2007,4.6HWC,4/24/2007,55.55HWC,4/25/2007,01:22.3HWE,4/24/2007,01:16.1HWE,4/25/2007,0.59
    I want one horizontal line per application where the X-axis represents the date and the Y-axis represents the server time. I have tried all column combinations for "On Change Of" and "Show Value(s)". What confuses me is why are Count and Discount the only Summary Options for the "Show Value(s)" data?
    Thank you,

    I created a group based on date, day, then created the chart and put it in the group footer, on change of server, show sum of time, you will get a seperate chart for each day.  I am not sure if this will help, or will just do.  Since you have CR XI, you may want to look at the gauge chart also....

  • Create line chart in SAP

    Hi experts:
      I got a problem while using graphic function (GRAPH_MATRIX_3D) to create chart, but I find the function can only create column(bar) chart and the maximal column is 6. As per the customer's request, they want to view the chart in line chart and the column number should be more than 6.
      Can you please advise is there any other function or way I can use to fix it? Thanks a lot!!!

    Hi,
    You can do this using the FM GFW_PRES_SHOW
    Check the sample program : DEMO_GFW_PRES_SHOW.

  • Line Chart/Graph for a Matrix report in Oracle Reports 10g

    Hello,
    If you have a Matrix report, say Month Name as rows, Year as columns (for example 2007, 2008, 2009) and sum of Sales dollar value as cells...I want a Line Graph which shows Months on the bottom axis and Years represented by lines and the sales value as the trend or data points on the horizontal line...it seems Oracle Reports cannot do this sincethe Chart wizard does not show either the Months or years as selectable fields for either X or Y axis.
    I can easily write a sql which does the pivot and produce the results for Sales by month for last 3 yrs but in this case I would have to provide column alias similar to say CURRENT_YEAR, PRIOR_YEAR, PRIOR_PRIOR_YEAR. Then, the Chart wizard works correctly but the Legend shows the column alias which is not very desirable for an executive level report.
    I was hoping that since a matrix report shows the correct column names, the legends will pull through correctly but I am stuck since the Chart for a matrix report doesn't work as I described above.
    Does anyone know how to do this type of Chart on a Matrix?
    Thanks,
    Manish

    The way I'd do it is with a 3D-graph, I think you need that otherwise you will not be able to represent it properly ...
    You will need to create another query just for the graph, which will create another group, containing only 3 columns (YEAR, MONTH, SALES), then start your Graph Wizard, then you will see two groups, select the one containing the 3 columns and when asked for the X-axis categories select both YEAR and MONTH, then for Y-axis select SALES.
    That way it should work...

  • Line Chart / Graph Colors

    How come I can change the colors of a bar graph series but not a line graph series?

    Post Author: desselle
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
    Hello,
    I got the problem fixed w/ the line graph not making the data lines the same color on the report as on the frmPlot graph.   Compare the two screen shots below.   The problem was as follows:  When I created the graph (in the Chart Expert) the field u201CReadingDateu201D was not one of the Report Fields, and all the other fields were Report Fields (Reading, LowAlarm, UpperAlarm, LowerLimit, & UpperLimit). See the 3rd screen shot below.  ReadingDate does show up as a Report Field now but it wasnu2019t at first.   Originally, this field was only available in the Chart Expert as a recordset field.  When I changed this field to be a Report Field, the graph then allowed me to change the data series line colors.   This was not obvious at all.   From the beginning when I setup the graph and passed in the recordset from VB it graphed all of the data series fine.   The colors that the Chart Expert chose for each line just didnu2019t match what was on the frmPlot graph.   Anyway, it is working now.     I can at least say I learned (somethingu2019s to-do and somethingu2019s not to-do) a good bit about Crystal Reports in the process.
    Thanks

  • Drill Down for Multiple Series in a Line Chart

    Hello,
    I seem to have a problem with the drill-down functionality in a line chart that has multiple series.
    I have a line chart that displays the readings of a patient over a period of 1 month. For each day, there is the glucose level reading, blood pressure reading, etc... So, each reading is a different series in my line chart graph.
    The basic requirement is: With a mouse over event on the chart, I am willing to display all the data that belongs to that day. The data will be displayed at the bottom of the screen in a small panel. It is very simple to do it when the line chart has only 1 series:
    i) Enable drill down.
    ii) Choose 'Row' as insertion type.
    iii) Fill out the destination field.
    iv) Make sure your labels (at the bottom of the screen) get the data from the destination cell.
    When there is more than one series, it becomes very difficult. XCelsius will not let me use the same destination cells for different series. So, I will have to use other destination cells. In that case, I will not know on which day is the user on. Is there any way to achieve this functionality?
    Let me know if you need further information.

    This is certainly possible, but there's a bit of a trick to it (and really hard to explain without screenshots!). There's two halves to it:
    1. Write the date that has been selected to a cell (for each series).
    2. Write the name of the series that was clicked to some cell (this is the property 'Series Name Destination').
    So let's say your three series are Glucose, Blood Pressure and Temp. Have those series names in B1,C1,D1 (with your dates down in column A). Insert a row below the series names (2:2), and then set up your insertion type for the chart as 'row'. The source data (for all three series) should be your list of dates in column a. The insertion cells for the three series will be, in order, B2,C2,D2. Now, depending on which point is clicked in the chart, the selected day will be inserted into one of those three cells. Completely useless unless you know which series was clicked.
    So you need to insert the name of the series that was clicked ('Series Name Destination') into the spreadsheet, let's say in F1. The rest is just Excel formulas. The logic is, you can now tell what series was clicked, and go and look up the date that was inserted for that series, then go and look up the row that corresponds to that date. So to get the date that was just clicked, your formula (in F2) would be =HLOOKUP(F1,B1:D2,2,0).
    Then a VLOOKUP will get the results from that row of data. For example, if I inserted another row at row 3 (to show my 'result' values) the formula in B3 would be =VLOOKUP($F$2,$A$4:$D$13,2,0).
    I hope that makes sense.

  • Line chart in WAD

    Hi.,
    I want to create line charts in WAD. But when i execute the report it is showing in a single vertical line. But in bar charts it is showing correctly. Please guide me to create reports.
    Thanks,
    Venkatesh

    Hi
    Charts displays the data Graphically..
    So Chart is the Web Item in WAD which is existing in the standard Webitems Area. Select the web item and Double click to get in to the work area and now after that we need to assign the Data Provider to that. By assigning this the data will be displayed in the Graphical mode.
    and also please see the link. it would be helpful to you.To know what are the types of charts and corresponding classes, And in the link if you drill down you will see Formatting a chart using Wizard, Defining chart properties etc.,

  • Line chart mis-match problem

    I have 2 set of data, one has data from month 1-12,
    1 xxx
    2 yyy
    12 zzz
    and 2nd set has data from month 6-12,
    6 aaa
    7 bbb
    12 ccc
    when I create line chart, with month as x-axis, the 2nd set data has line on top of month 1-6, instead 7-12 as it should be. How can I fix this problem?

    Hi,
    I have not tested your code, but check these links. This might help.

  • How to create static line in line bar graph in obiee 11g?

    Hello,
    I have requirement where user wants to see a line in bar graph.
    Now the line is just static line, we dont have data field available to draw the line in graph.
    is there a way to create a static line in chart and show it in Line bar ombo graph??
    Thanks in advance..

    e.g. i created the static line '10' in fx and now using this column as line in line bar report , but its not displaying the line at measure of '10' in chart.
    Drag the column to measures section of graph (Line - Vertical Axis) to change this static value create an edit box prompt and pass the value to the column using Presentation Variable (as said by Fernando)

  • Is it possible to create an interactive graph/chart using Report Builder 3.0?

    Hi All,
    I am using Report Builder for the first time. Here is what I am trying to accomplish. The data I plan to use in Report Builder is coming from SQL Server and in the Report Builder I want to create an interactive graph(chart).
    For example, The table in SQL Server consists of Hospital Name, Measure name, and Scores for each measures for different quarters.
    The idea is to create a graph that will allow the user to pick the measure name(from a drop down list or something similar) and Hospital name, then the graph will display the measure scores for different quarters and corresponding target scores for that
    particular Hospital.
     The data in SQL server looks like this :
    measure

    Is this is possible to do in Report Builder 3.0? Please share your thoughts.

    Thanks a lot for your response.
    I was able to create the parameters and now able to select the measure and facility and display that data in the table and chart.
    Now I am trying to see if I can add a line(target values) on top of the column chart to show the whether the scores of each measures, for each quarters are how far from the target values.
    Please let me know if this is possible.

  • Creating a multi series line chart with different data providers

    I have 3 data providers of the same structure i.e ArrayCollection of DataElement and want to use them to create a multiseries line chart. I do not have just 1 dataProvider that can be used but 3 different data providers of the same structure that i want to use each for different series.

                <mx:LineSeries displayName="BananaSales" yField="sales" xField="month" dataProvider="{bananaSales}"/>
            </mx:series>
    </mx:ColumnChart>
    Please help!

    Sorry for the confusion. Actually I must be doing some thing wrong like using ColumnChart to display a line chart or something like that.
    I have now realized that a multi series line chart can be built by having a different data provider for each of the LineSeries object.
    So the code below would create a multi series line graph :
    [Bindable] private var orangeSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 101000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 960000, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 475000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 425000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
                [Bindable] private var appleSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 991000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 140000, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 565000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 255000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
                [Bindable] private var bananaSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 891000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 147560, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 295000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 574000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
    I want to create a line chart with orangeSales, appleSales and bananaSales as three different lines on the chart for different dates specified.
    <mx:ColumnChart showDataTips="true" >
            <mx:horizontalAxis>

                <mx:LineSeries displayName="AppleSales" yField="sales" xField="month" dataProvider="{appleSales}"/>
                <mx:LineSeries displayName="BananaSales" yField="sales" xField="month" dataProvider="{bananaSales}"/>
