Create new solution: Deployment Unit

Hi
When creating a new solution a deployment unit has to be selected.
What exactly is controlled by this attribute?
I want to create a mashup solution for the HOME workcenter.
->> Which deployment unit should I choose for this ?

    As Joost said, you can try to revert the changes back for the checked in files in TFS. For more information, please see:

    If it doesn’t work, I am afraid you have to design the package in VS 2008 from scratch.

  • Solution_Manager cannot create new solution

    Hi everyone,
    I'm having problem with the transaction code SOLUTION_MANAGER.
    When I access this transaction code, I should be able to click NEW button to create new solution.
    What happen is as follow:
    1. I click on NEW button.
    2. I can enter SOLUTION NAME and LANGUAGE.
    3. However, when I click CONTINUE, there is no response.
    3.1 By right, I should be able to access a new screen and key in details of my landscape/solution. But for my solman, it is not working.
    Any advice?

  • Cannot create new Solution

    Hello.
    I've a new installed and patched Solution Manager 7.1 stack level 10.
    I'm trying to create a new Solution from workcenter SolutionManagerAdministration.
    Using NEW button , I fill the pop up with the new solution name, default language left English) and then OK.
    A log message appears on the left upper corner asserting that "Creation of Solution xxxx with language E was successfull".
    But the solution doesn't appear in the list , same in SMSY. If I try to create it again , using the identical name, I get the same message, so it seems that the message doesn't say the truth.But nevertheless no solution is really created.
    I tried another way: copy the existing default solution into a new one. In this case the new solution appears in the list, but when I go to SMSY to assign a logical component, as soon I select the solution I get a message in the status bar:
    "The solution XXXX has not yet been migrated to solution directory"
    Diagnosis
    The solution XXXX must first be transferred to the solution directory
    Procedure
    Call up transaction Solution_Manager and in the overview of active solutions, select the Add to Solution Directory icon (last column)
    Unfortunately the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER is no more active in this version....
    Does anybody know why the creation is uneffective, an what the last message means , or what has to  be done?

    Hi Dino,
    In SM 7.1 even SMSY also obsolete, it has only display view, future this also not possible.
    Now regarding your error,
    Since you are saying your solman_directory shows only sap_solution, means you have nt done the migration activities in the solman_Setup
    Make sure, you completed all the steps in System preparation and basic configuration in SOLMAN_SETUP, specially all the task on STEP 6 Prepare landscape description inside 6.2 SETUP LMDB , inside the small button "Migrate technical systems from smsy"
    and 6.3 migrate logical component from smsy
    once all these steps are green, you wont get any migration error.

  • UNABLE TO CREATE "NEW SOLUTION"

    Hi all.
    I have installed Solman 4.0 but I have an issue, when I call transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER to create a "New Solution" I fill up requiered fields (name and original language) and then I click "Continue" to save new solution but sceen back again to fill up "New Solution" again. I´m looking for any error but I can´t see anything...
    Any idea?

  • Unable to create the new solution in Solman

    Hello all,
    I'm ubale to create new Solution using the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER.
    After choosing the button New to create the new solution and entering all required data when I choose the button Continue nothing is happenning. I'm not getting any error/warning it's simply sitting idle.
    My Solman version is ST 400 Patch 09
    Please help.

    I had the same Problem.
    You must Patch you Solution Manager Until Patch11.
    Then you can create a new Solution
    The Support Packages you must install are:
    SAPKB70010
    and
    SAPKB70011
    and
    the CRT´s for the Packages

  • How to create a new solution for portals?

    Hi all,
    In order to makde goinglive sesions for portals, I´ve updated SAP Solution Manager (SSM) to 7.0 EHP1-SP19.
    Portals have two servers:
    - Win 2003 for main application (NETWEAVER 7.0 2004s)
    - HPUX 11.23 for database (Oracle 10.2.0.2.0)
    I haven´t worked with solution manager until this update, and of course, I haven´t configured before.
    I´ve a mix of terms, possible configurations:
    - run SOLMAN_SETUP transaction after update ¿?
    -  install SMD ¿?
    - install/configure SLD (we haven´t configured) ¿?
    - create new solution, system components, logical components,...
    I´ve tried to create a server, database, system, but I don´t know what is the right procedure.
    I´ve seen that there is a transaction called "SOLMAN_SETUP" that I suppose I´ve have to run to configure the new version, but the EWAs configured before de update, runs properly.
    Do you know the steps as more detailed as possbible to create the new solution for portals after update?
    Does any of this steps/procedure impact into our configured and running EWAs and Goinglive sesions?

    Are you trying to get the EWA working for Go-Live check or Solution Manager?  Based on my understanding you are trying to get your Solution Manager setup to be able to generate these reports.  However, I will provide notes for both incase I am misunderstanding you.

  • Best Practice - Changing description for Org Unit/Position or creating new?

    Hello Freinds,
    I just want to know from your experience what's normally practiced in your implementations for OM :-
    For scenarios where there is a need to change the description of a particular org unit or position, do u
    1. just change the description effective a particular date (to maintain history) or
    2. put an end date to those objects and create new ones ?
    Solution 1 is quick and easy, but in IT0001 the description displayed is as on start date of that infotype which is normally a date prior to the change in desc of those objects. As a result this infotype keeps displaying old description.
    Is there any way to change this display to show the current description instead of the description as on start date of this infotype ???
    Solution 2 calls for a lot of related activities, say if i create a new org unit and delemit the old one - then i have to move all the sub org units and positions into this new one ... which is quite time consuming and doesn't really seem practical.
    How do u manage such scenarios ?

    We use option #1, although I am not sure this is best practice.  Using option 1 for positions makes it challenging when it comes to reporting on length of time in position.  We frequently have the scenario where a person is reorged not because they applied for another position, but just because the big wigs want to move around the chess pieces.  In these cases we simply modify the position attributes and then run a PA action.  Then if you run a query and use the standard delivered Length of time in position field, it appears as if the person has been in the same position for years (which they have), but their position has been retitled, re-graded, and re-orged numerous times.  This makes it very difficult to get to an employee's length of time in their role. 
    This is a great discussion question I hope more people respond with what they do and why.

  • MSS - Creating new Position and Org unit in MSS

    Dear Expert,
    Question 1: I want to know that is it possible to create a new Position or Org Unit in MSS. I am aware that manager can create a requisitioin for a position. But I am not aware that how HR manager will create the Org Unit or Position thourgh MSS.
    - will the HR manager have a new HR administrator Role to do this activity, if yes, which service / iview is used.
    Question 2: We are using Management of Global employees (MGE). Now if any employee expariate to a foreign country how does ESS/MSS will pick the new country assignment. Is there any ess/mss switch for this? or any other configuration
    Question 3: I would like to know what are the main differences of EHP4 and EHP5.

    Hello honey - answer to the 1st question.
    MSS- click Organisation - Search Organisational Process - enter the Process HR_PD_CREATE_POSITION and click start , this could be one solution how the managers may be able to create new position through MSS.

    Yes you can.
    Install "Microsoft Web Matrix" on your Machine.
    Then go to the portal>web apps and select the one you want to copy. Then click on WebMatrix in bottom right. Your WebMatrix will pop up. Click "Edit a Local Copy".
    Thats the easy solution for creating a local copy and redeploying it.

  • Creating a new solution doesn't work

    All fine, no problems.
    after some configuration task (TA: SPRO) I want to create a new solution
    within TA dswp || solution_manager
    Button "Create" and Cancel" are visible
    I entered "Name of the solution" and "language" and press button "Create"
    <b>AND</b> nothing happened !!!
    Even when I press "cancel"
    What I am doing wrong ? any hints ?
