Create tablespace whose name length is greater than 50 ?

Can i create tablespace in oracle 10g whose name length is greater than 50 characters ?

Name tablespaces descriptively using a maximum of eight characters. Although Oracle Database tablespace names can be 30 characters long, portable UNIX filenames are restricted to 14 characters. The recommended standard for a datafile basename is tn.dbf, where t is a descriptive tablespace name and n is a two-digit string. Because the extension and the two-digit string take six characters, only eight characters remain for the tablespace name.

So clearly the answer is NO.
Tablespace names are invisible and irrelevant. Why the question?

  • How to Create Purchase Order with Co Product greater than Consumption

    Hi All,
I'm new to SAP. Can any one please help with the steps to create PO with Co Product greater than Consumption.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Srinivasu,
If you are talking about handling by-products during subcontracting follow the following steps.
Create Purchase order with item category "L". In the components tab maintain by-product in negative quantity. If you are not sure about the actual quantity, enter theoretical quantity ( Actual quantity can be adjusted in Subsequent adjustment in Goods receipt).
    Hope this helps you.
If this has not helped you, please elaborate your requirement.

  • ORA-22926: specified trim length is greater than current LOB value's length

I am getting an ORA-22926 when passing a clob to the REPLACE function in 11gR2. I found this comment from someone else who experienced this:
    1. Identified the issue as the replace function that works on Oracle 10gR2, but not on 11g for the CLOB of some
of the xml files for some character setting in the Oracle database.
    2. Submitted a service ticket to Oracle.
    3. Oracle provided a workaround solution.
    4. Implemented the Oracle workaround solution.
    Here is the link:
    http://www.alfred.edu/banner/docs/general84S1_release.pdf
Does anyone know the workaround for this?
    Thanks

I found a work around for this issue. REGEXP_REPLACE works as it should for clobs in 11g, so if you get ORA-22926 using the REPLACE function, try using REGEXP_REPLACE.

  • Report Name Length Problem

    Hies
Guys I've a problem in oracle report calling from Oracle FORMS. I am using reports and forms 6i. When the report name length is more than 30 characters the report engine runs first time correctly but on the second call of report the system gives an error :
" RWRBE60.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program ".
After this error the report engine closes and i have to call the report again.
Is there a length fixed for reports name in Oracle 6i.
    Is any possible solution available.
Remember i dont want to shorten my report names.
    Kindly help me with this.
    Thanx.

There may be a limit, but I'm not aware of any. I never ran accross a limit. You may try the latest patch to see if it helps. What is your exact Developer version?
But I really have never seen report names of more than 10 characters or so. Almost every application has some short program coding, like xyz_0010.rep, r_emp.rep etc.
Do you mean the the name including the full path is more than 30 characters? If you put the path in the REPORTS60_PATH variable, your report names don't have to include the path.

  • Font name length limitation...

    Hello all,
I have a serious problem related with .PFB font files. Is there any relation between font name length; I checked and if font name length is more than 30 characters I am getting an error that "the requested file C:\....\....Pfm,C:\....\....Pfb was not a valid font file". Although I am using the same way to install all fonts.
Please help me and give me any solution. Please let me know if there any limitation with windows XP, or its a limitation of Type 1 fonts.
Thanks in advance and pardon my English.
    Thanks........

I believe the answer is "both" for practical purposes. Although, my recollection would have been that the limit was 31 characters, not 30.

  • Delv qty greater than sales order qty

    Hi ,
We are on ECC 6 . In one of the del, delivery qty is greater than sales order qty.
which resulted in overpicking. ( Sales order qty 560 , delivery qty 587 & Pick qty 587).
This is over delivery & overpicking issue.
Is there any way to stop this for ECC 6 version.
        Let me know.
    Thanks  & Regards

    Hi Tushar
You need not maintain the over-delivery limit.
If you set set "B" in the "Over Delivery" field in the Delivery Item category (0VLP), then system will not allow you create a Delivery with delivery quantity greater than Order quantity.
I mean, if the order quantity is 10 pc, then with reference to that Order ,you can not create a Delivery for more than 10 pc.

  • User input formula variable with greater than/less than operators for KFG

    Hello all,
I have used a formula in my query that is a difference of two key figures .For e.g:
Difference = tax from system A  -  tax from system B.
Now when the users run the report they should be prompted for the 'Difference' threshold for seeing the report say where difference is greater 100 or equal to 10 and so on.Currrently I have created a formula variable with 'user input' and created a 'condition' to display 'Difference' greater than the user entered value.
However,it is required to have various selection options for setting the threshold of difference. For e.g User should be able to set say 'equal to'/'greater than/less than/not equal to operator for 'difference' in the initial selection screen of the report.
With the current user-input formula variable I am not getting these 'greater than' etc operators.Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Ya know, that's all well and good ... BUT ... WHAT IF you do want to sort text type columns with Greater Than and Less Than operatiors??
SQL does it just Fine ... so WHY does APEX have the limit??? This is an Oracle BUG ... it SHOULD NOT limit the operators ... I realize "they" may be trying to be helpful with proper constraints to field searches ... but ... if SQL can do it, then ... no need for a limit.
    EG ...
    Show the records where
the "Begin_Year-Wk" data is less than or equal to "2009-09" AND
the "End_Year-Wk" data is greater than or equal to "2009-04"
... to give everything that was running in that 5 week period whether or not it starts within that time frame
I can run this query perfectly fine via SQL ... but not in APEX ... unless I reconvert a lot of strings back to numbers, and for sorting / formatting / explain-to-user purposes, I really don't want them to be numbers.
So ... there's gotta be a hidden tweak for operators somewhere ...

  • Transferring data to a flat file with a length greater than 255 bytes??

Is there a way to do this?  At the end of the month, my dataset will reach a length of anywhere between 271 and 335.  Even though I have the transfer field setup with a length of 512, I am only getting 255 characters worth of data when I pull the flat file in from the server.
Has anyone discovered a way to handle this?  I cannot break the record up into blocks of 255, the Transfer has to be able to handle something greater than a length of 255.
    Many Thanks!

You can't. The best you can do is create a Java source file and compile it on the fly.
Could you tell us why you want to do this? I have no doubt at all that you are working with a bad design, and maybe we could help you fix it.

  • How can a function returning character length greater than 4000 be selected in SQL

    Hi,
I want to know if there is a way to write a select query on a function call which returns a varchar of more than 4000 characters.
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION FUNC1
    RETURN VARCHAR2
    IS
    str VARCHAR2(32767);
    BEGIN
         str := <some string greater than 4000 char>;
          RETURN str;
    END;
SELECT FUNC1 from dual; ---- This gives an PL/SQL numeric or value error. Character string buffer too small.
Is there any way to resolve this?
    Thanks

32767 is not default. The default is still 4000 for VARCHAR2. You need to set the initialization parameter MAX_STRING_SIZE= EXTENDED for 32767.
    Text from Oracle documentation
    Extended Data Types
Beginning with Oracle Database 12c, you can specify a maximum size of 32767 bytes for the VARCHAR2, NVARCHAR2, and RAW data types. You can control whether your database supports this new maximum size by setting the initialization parameter MAX_STRING_SIZE as follows:
If MAX_STRING_SIZE = STANDARD, then the size limits for releases prior to Oracle Database 12c apply: 4000 bytes for the VARCHAR2 and NVARCHAR2 data types, and 2000 bytes for the RAW data type. This is the default.
If MAX_STRING_SIZE = EXTENDED, then the size limit is 32767 bytes for the VARCHAR2, NVARCHAR2, and RAW data types.
