Create task schedule in SQL job

Hai,
I have in windows Task Schedular a task that runs every night.
Is it possible to create in sql 2008 a job that will start that Task Schedular task?Can you give me an example how to do that? Is that a command?

There you can create a number of actions / tasks and set the start order.

Hi every one,
I have a small requirement. My client want me to run a program in a foreground if the output is small and should the program in background if the output is large.This has to be achieved through coding. The program downloads the netprices of products. The downloaded file is of .dat format. It is an urgent requirement.

that is not possible with codeing. To create a schedule a background job for the same program depending on its output is not possible.
being a programmer you need to decide, how long the code will take to execute.. accordingly you can either schedule or run in foreground. You can make some mandatory fields in the selection screen, so that the output is big mostly.

Task Scheduler Security Option - Run if user is logged in or not

using Windows Server 208 R2 Terminal Server - Running .NET 4.0 programs
We are running .NET 4.0 Windows Forms programs using Task Scheduler with the Security Option - Run whether user is logged in or not.
When the Task Scheduler starts these jobs they either not not run or they fail.
Questions:
1. What shell is used by Task Scheduler with the setting "run whether user is logged in or not" ?
2. Is there some way to detect this shell or environment in a .NET program?
I am trying to determine if I can modify the .NET programs so they will run in this shell with no errors.

Hi Mister,
In addition, Since you need to launch a GUI application through Task Scheduler, so this task also need to run interactively.
However, if the item "Run whether user is logged on or not" is selected, tasks will not run interactively, so we need to select the "Run only when user is logged".
I recommend you can change the item "Change user or group" in security option and add a group, which will make sure your application will run interactively for all users in the group when the users logon.

Unable to create a schedule to exclude days and interval within each day

Please can someone help me with this issue:
I'm trying to create a schedule to run job every 10 mins from Monday 8am -Until Saturday 10am. Which means not to run run it from (sat 8am-Mon 10am).
I know you can can use "exclude" parameter but some how I can get to work:

I'm a seasoned SQL Server Developer (not on SQL Azure) where I could schedule a SQL job using the SQL Agent to execute a stored procedure which would use sp_send_dbmail to send emails out to contacts in my db based on certain criteria. Now that I'm
using Windows Azure and SQL Azure, how do I accomplish the same thing.

Creating Oracle Job with Task Scheduler

Hi,
Platform: Oracle10g R2, Windows 2003 Server
I have the below script on my Linux server that backups up the database. It's run via crontab.

But I did something similar for auto-delete of flashback logs and it works but the backup thing aint working.
What can I do?

SSIS Package compiled successful, in SQL Server Integration Service package executed sucessful, But fail to run in MS SQL Job Scheduler

I having a problem to transfer data from MS SQL 2005 to IBMAS400. Previously my SSIS was running perfectly but there is some changes I need to be done in order for the system to work well. Considers my changes are minimal & just for upgrades (but I did
include DELETE statements to truncate AS400 table before I insert fresh data from MS SQL table to the same AS400 table), so I compile my SSIS package & it run successfully & I passed it into MS SQL Integrated Service as 1 of the packages & manually

From the message “Executed as user: MSSQLServer\SYSTEM”, we can see that the SQL Server Agent job ran under the Local System account. However, a Local System account doesn’t have the network rights natively, therefore, the job failed to communicate with
the remote IBMAS400 server.
To address this issue, you need to create a proxy account for SQL Server Agent to run the job. When creating the credentials for the proxy account, you can use the Windows domain account under which you executed the package manually.

EXECUTE permission denied on sp_sqlagent_log_jobhistory when running a maintenance task or sql job

Hi folks,
I have a scheduled maintenance plan and associated jobs in SQL Server 2008 SP2 that have been working but stopped about two months ago. When I run a maintenance task or sql job using any account (sa, sysadmin-priveleged domain account, etc) I get the following
entries in the SQL Server Agent log (see below). I've tried changing the SQL Server Agent account, applied the latest hotfixes (CU2 for 2008 SP2) and set permissions manually so that the service accounts have dbo access to the msdb database. Anyone got other
ideas? I've avoided recreating the msdb database, but that may be my only option.

And just to add to the confusion - I created a SQL login called sql-maintjobs and have it sysadmin priveleges. I then logged in to SQL using this account on the instance that is failing and ran the following:

This sql worked fine - no permission errors at all. That would suggest the account does have permission to EXECUTE that stored procedure... very confusing!

Have you tried restarting the db and the server? I have seen this on user search and a db restart along with server restart solved it for me. Also note that this error in my case was due to wrong mds file. so for you also check ur tasks and any custom xml which might have some errors into it.

Obtain Job invoker for a SSIS job scheduled in SQL Server Agent

Hello,
I was required to tell the job runner of a particular SSIS job scheduled in SQL Server Agent (in SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2). I noticed that after running the job, a record can be found in msdb.dbo.sysjobhistory in the [message] columm saying that
the job is invoked by 'Domain\User'. Is there anyway I can acquire and upload that information into an audit table by adding some additional script into the job? I heard about using token to get job_ID, but what about the actual user name who runs
the job?

Just add retry attempts to whatever number you want (2 as per your original explanation) in Job step properties as below
Have a logic to include a delay of 10 mins . You can make use of WAITFOR function for that

Using Sql jobs to schedule essbase cubes.

Hi guys,
I have a Sql Server datamart who is loaded by Sql Server Integration Services.
After that, an essbase cube connects to the Sql Server datamart.
Finally, the user can review the data using SmartView.
I need to schedule these tasks.
I have a Sql job who trigger SSIS packages (datamart load).
Then I need load essbase cube.
How can I schedule load essbase cube using Sql jobs?

At last I could schedule a MaxL script from SqlServer agent.
I follow these steps:
1. Copy StartMaxL.cmd from other essbase instalation (I don't know why, but it didn´t exists).
2. Add ARBORPATH and ESSBASEPATH environment variables.
3. At the moment to generate the cube, select save like MaxL load script.
4. In Sql Server Agent, add a step job type "operating system" and in command, E:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseRTC-64\11.1.2.0\bin\startMaxL.cmd E:\[scrip_name.msh] [user] [pass]

You may try DBMS_JOB package.
If your scheduler job is doing an execution of external application , you may use the Operating system scheduler.
If you are using unix or similar OS then you may use the CRON TAB settings to start a job according to the schedule.
If you are using Windows 95/98/NT/2K you may use the Task Scheduler of the OS.

Creating a Scheduled Task using PowerShell v4

So here is my question. I'm trying/wanting to create a scheduled task using PowerShell v4 on Server 2012R2. I want to task to run on the 1st day of every month. The parameter for -Monthly -Day is not available. I need to use PowerShell
to create the Scheduled Task because the Task will be running with a group Managed Service Account credentials so the Scheduled Task can not be created via the Task Scheduler GUI.

Execute Process Task showing all the SSIS Config variables in SQL Job History

Hi,
Am using an Execute Process task to execute my child package. And executing the Parent package from a SQL JOB.
I am using the same config file for both Parent and Child packages.
After the Job execution was Successful / Failure, in Job history it is showing all the variables from Config file which are not using in Child package. With the below message.
"The package path referenced an object that cannot be found"
I don't want to catch all the Variables information in Job History. Instead I need only the Success / Failure message.

Scheduling a single day X for a throughput deduplication job on a volume in Server Manager>...>Volume>Configure Deduplication becomes day X-1 (previous day) in Task Scheduler
Using configure deduplication for a volume in Server Manager, I selected a file age of 0 days (for the initial run), throughput optimization and for the schedule Tuesday at 11:24 pm.
Going to Task Scheduler>Microsoft>Windows>Deduplication the job is now Scheduled to run Mondays at 11:24pm
Changing the day to Monday using configure deduplication changes the day in task scheduler to Sunday ... and so on.

Just for your information, this bug still exists in Server 2012 R2. I just stumbled across it today.
