Create test version of database in another host
Hi!
As a production system I have a database with a standby database. (Dataguard).
Now we want to create a test system of the production database in another host, test system shall not be with a standby database.
Production system is about 5GB.
What is the fastest and easiest way to create the test database, Oracle binaries are installed in test host but no databases are created.
/Ulf
If your database is really only 5 Gb (which would be quite small, particularly for a system that warrants Data Guard), export and import is probably the easiest option. You can also clone the database or recover your backup to the QA machine, but those options seem like a bit more work.

Retreiving Azure Database to another host
Hi Guys,
I have currently set up a database in Azure via MySQL Server Management, which i really just migrated to Azure as I am currently using Access. Few questions I need to ask, as I would like to know if Azure will fit my requirements.
What I need to do is basically, allow a client to retrieve this database, update it and then allow Azure to automatically synchronize and update the database. The client will be using this database a number of times a day. How can I go about doing this,
as I really am new to Azure.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you
Umut TavliHello,
Access supports connecting to SQL Azure over ODBC (linked tables and pass-through queries), but you need to use the SQL Server Native Client 10.0 driver or later version.
Before connect to SQL database, you should create a SQL Server login as SQL Database does not support Windows authentication. You should also add the current IP in the Firewall setting.

How to install OEM 10g using an existing database on another host
Hi,
I've created a 10g database (on host solaris_x86) which I like to use for the OEM 10G GC (on host linux_x86).
If I install OEM using existing DB, then the installer expect the database is running locally.
If I install OEM using new DB, then the installer complains that I've less then 1GB memory.
Does somebody know how to solve this?Something is wrong ... Remote database works fine.
we are using Tru64 OMS against Windows DB. -
Restore database to another host - I have only rman backup files
Hi all,
The PC where Oracle was installed is crashed.
I have only the RMAN backup pieces in other computer.
I want to restore/recover this RMAN backup to other PC.
I know the commands, restore database, recover database,
but I've always used these commands with rman into existing rman
user. Now, I don't have anything. I have only the RMAN backup files.
How can I restore/recover database to other PC using these files?
The steps are? create other database, create a rman user, register
the rman backup files in this new rman, and restore these files
in this new database already created with the same name?
thank you!!!!XM wrote:

Move a procedure from one database to another database
Hi all,
I have a procedure belonging to a schema in one of the databases in a server (say host A).
I have a new server (say host B) and I have installed RDBMS and have created a database.
Now, I want to move that particular procedure (in host A) to the new schema of a database in host B.
What are the steps to be followed? please help me out.
Note: It is not moving a procedure from one database to another, infact from one host to database in another host.
Thanks,
ora_sriThe steps are:
1. Pay more attention to your instructor in school.
2. Do your web searches using google.com so as not to ask other people to help you cheat on your exams.
3. Apologize to your instructor.
How do I know you are a student?
1. No version number.
2. No such thing as host A and B
3. If you had ever written a procedure in your life you would already know the answer.
So let us add #4 to the first list.
4. Write a stored procedure, save it to your hard disk, and then stare at the file you created until inspiration strikes you.
Sorry for being harsh here but I spent 10 years teaching Oracle at the University of Washington and I failed students
who did what you did. Even asked that one be expelled. So I am doing you quite a favor and hope you learn the lesson

RC_datafile location changed after try recover datafile into another host
Hi,
I has a database whose datafiles was all in i:\ofs1, yesterday,to verify that my tape backup,
I tried to restore and recover the database into another host and location c:\ofs1,
I connected to the recover catalog for the database while performing the restoring and recovering, everything completed successfully.
But then I found out that the location of datafile in rc_database view in my recovery catalog been updated from i:\ofs1 to c:\ofs1,
apparent while doing the restoring, rman also update the location of the datafile in rc_datafile.
And now when I perform backup for the original database, it search the datafiles in c:\ofs1 instead of i:\ofs1.
Is there anyone know how should I do to update back the datafile location in rc_datafile?
Thanks

Thanks, Your help and guide will appreciated very much.Hello,
The directory for the creation of the logfiles does not exist, from the error:
RMAN-06136: ORACLE error from auxiliary database: ORA-00344: unable to re-create online log '/db/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.5/dbs/ /db
/redolog.001/catalog1/catalog1_log1.rdo'
ORA-27040: skgfrcre: create error, unable to create file
HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directoryI.e., there is no such directory as *'/db/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.5/dbs/ /db/redolog.001/catalog1/catalog1_log1.rdo'*
Your db_recovery_file_dest parameter may be set here, therefore change this:
'/db/redolog.001/catalog1/catalog1_log1.rdo' size 5m,
' /db/redolog.003/catalog1/catalog1_log2.rdo' size 5m,
' /db/redolog.002/catalog1/catalog1_log3.rdo' size 5m;To this:
'catalog1_log1.rdo' size 5m,
'catalog1_log2.rdo' size 5m,
'catalog1_log3.rdo' size 5m;And try again. -
Create test database from standby without some data
Hi. I want to create test database from my standby database using rman.
But i have some some tables and where information is too large i dont want backup all data from this tables. because i dont have enough space on my test server.
Have u any idea for solution this problem.
ThanksBut have suggestion.
You can create duplicate database on based your target database (to new host) and skip undesired tablespaces...
bash# rman target /
RMAN> ....
your code should be like :
run {
allocate auxiliary channel 'dev_0' type 'sbt_tape'
parms 'SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/omni/lib/libob2oracle8_64bit.so,ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=Oracle8,OB2APPNAME=my,OB2BARLIST=MY DAILY)';
allocate auxiliary channel 'dev_1' type 'sbt_tape'
parms 'SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/omni/lib/libob2oracle8_64bit.so,ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=Oracle8,OB2APPNAME=my,OB2BARLIST=MY DAILY)';
allocate auxiliary channel 'dev_2' type 'sbt_tape'
parms 'SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/omni/lib/libob2oracle8_64bit.so,ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=Oracle8,OB2APPNAME=my,OB2BARLIST=MY DAILY)';
allocate auxiliary channel 'dev_3' type 'sbt_tape'
parms 'SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/omni/lib/libob2oracle8_64bit.so,ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=Oracle8,OB2APPNAME=my,OB2BARLIST=MY DAILY)';

Edited by: Ramesh Janardanan on Jun 19, 2012 6:21 PMHi Ramesh,
You can use the DRM Configuration console for this purpose. Please follow the below steps:
1. Open Repository Wizard
2. Check - Copy/Upgrade
3. Enter Source connection details and test connection
4. Click Next on Analysis summary
5. Enter Target connection details and test connection
6. Confirm Copy by clicking Next
It copies everything. Hope this helps!!

Issue Creating Duplicate Database on Different host using RMAN Backup
HI friends..
I m trying to create a duplicate db on different host ....... 27
i have live production db on ............. 15
its up 24*7.
i know how to create dup db using cold backup..but dont know how to create it using RMAN Backup..
I have googled..but getting issues..
Steps Taken till now
Note- I dont have catalog created on live db..
I already have set the tnsnames.ora on both servers
1) Took full backup plus archivelog plus control file on 15
2) moved it to another host..ie 27
3) now on live db..
I conected to rman target /
so i m now connected to prod db
than i try to conect to rman auxiliary sys/sys@dubpd..
But it gives me insufficient privilages error..
Can you tell me what to do next..Coz unless i get into mount phase on sever 27( new server)..i cannot use the control file from backup).my dupdb is up in nomount phase..but what enxt i can do..to restore the control file and than restore the backup after cataloging them to right path..

Nope ..on live db..
@comand prompt when i type sqlplus sys/sys@dupdb..
its says 0ra-12518...Listener cannot hand off client connection..
My tns name for live server is..*primary* on live server .. whose ip is 15..(lIVE SERVER).
i also have another entery with tns names- standby .on live server .. whose ip is 27..(other server for duplicated db).
now @command prompt..@live server.. i did sqlplus sys/sys@standby
It gives me ORA-12518
Am i missing something..1- It could be a network problem. You may enable tracing on listener (and examine the logs).
2- Add "DIRECT_HANDOFF_TTC_LISTENER=OFF" to listener.ora, then reload the listener
3- You may want to increase "large_pool_size" -

Refresh database and another is create database
Hi All,
In the Hyperion planning under the administration menu there are two option, one is refresh database and another is create database.
Is there any way to hide/delete or not give the access to users of ”create database” option? I mean other than admin I don’t want any users to see “create database option” once they login.
Thank youThere is no option to hide the create database button, but the good news is the planning users won't be able to see that option anyways. Due to the provisioning, only Admins have access to the Administation Menu.
Cheers,

I am looking to publish a web site I created in iWeb to another hosting provider. I have never published this site to MobileMe nor do I have a MobileMe account. Can someone please help me?
Hi Larry, no experience with iWeb, (which is ending soon), but what kind of files & folders does it make locally?
You need a Wb Hosting service & an ftp client, if you need more info reply with that & what kind of files/folders it made.
