Create trasport reqeusts directly in quality system

Hello All,
We have a three system landscape TMS configuration (DEVL-QUAL-PROD) and QUAL is defined as consolidated system.
Because of lot of developers doing/testing changes to configuration on DEVL, we made some changes directly in QUAL intend to import into PROD system. Opened QUAL system just for this change.("Automatic recording of Changes" and "Changes to repository and cross-client customizing allowed" in QAUL) Note: It is not a good practice to open QUAL system but in this scenario we can't take risk of taking untested configuration from DEVL system.
- When creating transport request, PROD is not showing up in the target system as QUAL is the consolidated system.
- Created a transport request without target system thinking it would create local transport with CO and data file. After releasing the transport request system is not creating a CO and files. After doing research, looks like need to create a virtual system so that QUAL system would create co and data files. Once co and data files are created, I could add to PROD import queue manually.
Could you please help... is creating virtual system is the only solution in this scenario. if i have to create a virtual system, all i have to do is STMS->SAP SYSTME->Create Virtual system. As PROD Is the domain controller, should i leave "PROD" as the communication system?

Here,you have created a local transport since target system not mentioned.
Local transport request will not create cofiles and datafiles.It means there is no target defined for that transport request. In such case, system assume that the changes made and captured in that TR are local (within the system) and need not to be moved in subsequent systems of transport landscape.
So to create cofiles and datafiles for that particular request,we need to create transport of copies.
Go to SE10, create a new request of type "transport of copies":
give it a description and specify the target system: in your case QUAL system
Then, include objects from the old requests using the following button:
(4th button, next to the trash can - "include objects")
Finally, specify the old request "number" on the following prompt (where it says "request" on the following image):
Then new request will get created with the contents of old request.And it will create cofiles and datafiles at OS level .Then you can manually copy the cofiles and datafiles to system you need too import .
Then Add into queue from that system..

Hi,
I would like to delete a ZZ query in Quality sytem directly. I don't have AUTHORIZATION delete using Tcode RSZDELETE. As this particulate query not avaiable in Development system, we can create a transport also.
Is there a way to delete directly in Quality System ?

If you do not have the authorization then#
goto the BEX (rrmx) and delete the query from there.
you can delete RSZDELETE or delete the entries in RSZCOMPDIR table by giving ur query as parameter.

Query Modification in Quality Systems.

Hi Gurus,
I have very complex Query in Quality .. Production.
1) I have created one RKF directly in Quality with out techical name
2) I have created one formula directly in Quality with out techical name
3) Hidden some RKF in Query Properties in Quality Directly.
I know what changes i made . Next when i am transporting Do i face any issue.
Since it is very very complex Query, i do not want to take a chance.
1) shall i delete the RKF & Formula, unhide the RKF that i created in Quality
and recreate it in Dev and transport it to Quality then to Production.
2) Or Can i create the same RKF ,Formula , hide the RKF which is presently
hidden in Quality and transport it with out deleting the above in Quality.
What is the best way to make the next transport successful.

I know it's not a best Practice. But There was no proper data in Dev to test . So that's why
i changed directly in Quality BWQ Environment.
I do not have that flexibility to transport back from BWQ to dev and Production. .
As per MKR, I can change the Query in Dev and transport it to Quality then Production.
That does not work .It will create duplicate elements.Checked with Arun 's blog.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
How about deleting those which are created in QUality and create them back in Dev and transport.
My concern is transport might fail. Any suggestions.

How to create common file systems for both development & quality systems

Need some calrification & advise
we are planning to install ECC6 with EHP5 on AIX7.1 with DB2 9.7 version on single physical server ( NO Virutal IP'S) for both development(SID : D10 & System number 20) & quality(SID : Q10 & System number 20) systems.And it will be running in single LPAR for development & quality systems.
please advise me how can we create the below common file systems for both development & quality to avoid file permission & installation issues.

Change master data of business consolidation directly in the quality system

Welcome to SDN.
There are SAP Notes 933024, 804057 and 592239 that provide a means of opening UCWB only for master data objects.
Another possible work around is to make the updates in BW and use the synchronization programs UGMDSYNC and UGMDSY20. However for FS Items and Cons Groups all of the master data elements such as breakdown category and period of first consolidation are not available for entry in BW so for these characteristics the maintenance must still be completed in UCWB.

Field Exits problem in Quality system after trasports

Dear Freinds,
We did Field Exit changes in Developement system and the changes are working perfect when we tested.
Where as we transport the changes to QA(Quality system) the filed exit is not working. We checked the code, and the code was moved to QA. We set the flag for field by sitting Basis guys (field status as YES). Even though field exit changes are not working in QA.
Could you please suggest is there any other settings we have to make sure to work this feild exit in QA...? And in case any manuval settings in QA the same we need to do in prodcution manuvally..

the profile parameter should be set on ALL application servers & system should be restarted. If your exits do not work after that, just try to deactivate/activate your exits directly on QA system. It will certainly help.

WF not triggering in Quality System

Hi,
We moved the Workflow to Quality System, but the event is not triggering.The event linkage is active and workflow customizing has been done.The WF-Batch user is having SUPER user group.Kindly help on this issue.

One reason were workflow is not triggered, WF and Event link not enabled.
Hope you are using BOR QMSM and triggering task for notification created in QM02,
1)     try to simulate with SWUE and check whether WF is triggered or not for a dummy task created in QMSM
2)     Check did you made WF Generic otherwise it will not trigger the WF
If you designate your workflow task as a "general task", this means that all users are authorized to start this task.
To restrict the number of authorized persons, you can assign the task to an object from the organizational plan (organizational unit, job, user,...). This is a general procedure and can be used with all types of tasks. If you assign the task directly to a user, only this person is authorized to start the task.
3)     check for user authorization
4)     Check for WF consistence swu5/swu4

What actions should be taken while working with the quality system

Hi all,
The development phase has been completed, I would like to know what are the steps we need to follow when we are working with the quality system.
I have some doubts regarding this could any one give the inputs please.
1. Where should we create any Roles and Authorizations.Dev/QA/Prd
2. Where should we craete process Chains. Dev/QA/Prd.
3. Can I transport the queries without using Bex transport. What will happen If i dont use the Bex transport.

Hi Kumar,
your BW quality system will be connected to your R/3 Production system from where you'll extract the real time data and do testing which includes estimation of downtime in case of filling up of the set up tables and so on...
the most general procedure is to create the Roles and Authorizations in teh development system and then transport it across to production through your quality system...
Process chains you afford to create it directly in your production system itself... that's no big deal...
And of course, you'll have to transport the queries only using the BEx transport.. there's no other go for this as its the standard procedure given by SAP...

Client opening in production/Quality systems

Hi Gurus,
I need your inputs on my thoughts regarding client opening in production or quality systems.
Am a BASIS administrator and sometime we get requests from functional teams to open a production or quality client to do some direct changes which are non-transportable from Development.
So, my question is should we open the client with a setting "Automatic recording of changes" or "Changes without automatic recording". If they are really non-transportable, i guess there is no harm with the setting "Changes without automatic recording", but in case if they do some changes directly in production which are transportable from development, then it becomes an issue if the recording is not allowed so there will not be any log.
So please suggest if it better is to set it as "Automatic recording of changes" so that it will create a request and log the changes. It will be helpful to trace of the changes in case those changes are transportable. Is there any harm or audit violation if we set "Automatic recording of changes" in a porduction or quality system?
Am awaiting your thoughts on it.

Nick: I agree that production client has to be opened only for changes which are not transportable. But once we open the client it allows any change irrespective of transportable or not transportable.
How we will be able to track if the requestor is doing more changes than mentioned in the change request for which he/she is approved for.
If we do not record we have to do lot of post mortum activity later to identify who has done these changes and if we record we can easily trace to the changes done if any than agreed.
In our environment fire fighter setup enabled only in production environment but not in quality. We are trying to enable production changes only through fire fighter but are checking if additionally enabling recording helps or not. What we are finding is it helps us quickly trace the changes done by the user though we have fire fighter logs.
But in quality environment as we do not have fire figher set up and we are seing recording is only possible way of producing necessary audit trail.
As mentioned above if any such transports are created we need to ensure that they are to be released so that objects are not locked under them. Let us know if you see any issues here.
What we are trying to arrive at is a fool proof plan and process when we open clients for direct editing.
Let us know if enabling recording effects in any other way when we open quality or production environment in exceptional cases.

Error on display of remodelling rule in Quality System

Hi,
I have created a remodelling rule to delete a characteristic infoobject from a cube and the same in working fine in the development system.
I transported the remodelling rule to the Quality system. the same was transported with out any error.
But when I go the RSA1 --> adminstration -->remodelling and select the remodelling rule from dropdown and click on display, I am getting an error message.
Namespace '/BIC/' must be set to 'changeable' (transaction SE06)
Message no. R7063
Has anyone encoutered the same error ?
Any help is resolving the above error will be highly appreciated and rewarded.

Hi Venkata,
I have not worked with the remodelling. But Remodelling is changing the InfoCube definition in the QA/Prod systems directly.
I had this issue earlier when I tried to modify something in the QA system directly. The issue was because the /BIC/ namespace was non-modifiable in QA. As this setting is system specific and need not be transported we had asked Basis to make the change in QA.

Dear Pooja,
yes you can if you have such authorizations in production system.but its not the good practice to do such testings on live system.because of the lot of loads and burdens will be there on live OLAP server.so instead of creating it in produtcion diredctly create it in dev or Quality and check your data quality and see whether your query needs tuning techniques and all then after making it all.transport the query to production and it will be deliverd to release version to the client to test it.otherwise may be your query creates some performance issues on the production system. so always follow the best practices and which is beneficial to you.

PSGUID Field in the Hide in the Quality System,Unhide in Dev System

Hi all,
We have applied note 929584 to get the GUID filed in the Standared extractors.
That is perfectly applied & we have tested in BW development & R/3 Dev.
same request we have trasported to Quality system but in some data sources GUID , CPR_GUID & OBSNR fields are in the HIDE .
I have done the following things:
1. I have checked in RSA2 of Quality system those filelds are "Fileds to be trasfered" check box is unchecked *( But not in DEV)
2.RSA6 also those filed are with HIDE Check box ( But not in DEV).
3. I have reactivated the datasources in DEV sytem once agin & Retrasported but still those fileds are in the same situation.
So please suggest me How I have to unhide these fileds in the Quality System.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I created an entity adapter and did things as you said .. But start date field is not getting pre populate. what i want is once the user clicks on the "Users -- > Create" link create user page should loaded and system date need to be shown as the start date..
For an example in create user page 'change password at next logon' chek box is already checked(prepopulated) once the create user page is loading. Likewise what i want is when user creation page is loading display the current system date as the start date..
I think now my problem is clear to you..
will it be possible to do.. can you please help on that....

SAP Quality system Prerequsites

Hi Experts,
We have installed the ECC EHP5 Dev server successfully and now planning for the QAS server, My question is that what will be the prerequisites for QAS server like-
Do we have to mount the filesystem /usr/sap/trans from DEV box to QAS and then start the installation or shall we create another
filesystem on QAS /usr/sap/trans ?
Any other prerequsite before start the installation ?

I heard some issue when /usr/sap/trans for both the systems are different and on local host also copy of data and cofile is taking a time between these systems.
Currently DEV system is ready and I have created 2 virtual systems with SID of QAS and PRD so that transport routes can configure for new request. We want DEV as our domain controller and I already worked in this type of environment where trans is mounted between all 3 systems (DEV, QAS and PRD) and the only issue is that when Domain controller get crashed we can not create the transport request directly in quality as no file system /usr/sap/trans will exist thr.
Kindly suggest which approach we prefer ?

Error while transporting database index into quality system

Hello,
I am getting an error while transporting a new index in quality system.
I have created a new index for table VBFA in TRD and activity the object without errors. I even adjusted the database table using database utility.
While transporting the request there was a strange error "R3TRTABLVBFA was repaired in this system".
I retransported the objects using a new request. However I still got the same error.
Please help.

No idea about the error you have mentioned but check the SAP Notes 185530 and see if you can avoid creating an index.In this Notes it is clearly mentioned on how to use VBFA table without any performance issues.

Issue in Process Controlled workflow for Shopping cart in Quality system.

Hello All,
I ahve configured a Process controlled workflow in SRM 7.0 with custom resolver, and I am facing an issue taht the Workflow works well in Development but in Quality the approvers are dropped after SC is ordered in Quality system.
The SC Workflow drops the approvers picked up from the Interface method /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVERGET_AREA_TO_ITEM_MAP and IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVERGET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID of BADI /SAPSRM/BD_WF_RESP_RESOLVER. The approvers can be seen in the shopping cart Approval preview Tab until the SC is ordered.
I have compared the OSS notes relevant for Workflow, all of them have been transported, Also I compared and checked general Workflow settings, BRF Config and Process level settings in Dev and Quality, everything is same.
Also while debugging; the approvers can be seen in the decision set table in the create_process_forecast method of class /SAPSRM/CL_WF_PROCESS_MANAGER.
Kindly let me know what else i can check to find the root cause.

From what I'm seeing in from your 2 screenshot, i strongly believe that the problem is even before the Z implementation /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVER~GET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID (in which the FM i ZSRM_GET_USER_FROM_PGRP is called. I think the problem could be in the process level determination ZSRM_WF_BRF_0EXP000_SC_APP100. Let me explain:
In your cases where not buyer is determined, in the approval tab there is not even a process level for buyer approval. If the problem were indeed in the implementation /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVER~GET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID then the process level would be there, but the system will display, instead of the name of the buyer(if the buyer determination fails) a red label with the message: "With the strategy "Buyer determination" an approver could not be determined (or something like that..please check the image at the end of the text)".
I can propose a way to discard this: Implement the method /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVER~GET_FALLBACK_AGENTS of class ZCL_BADI_SC_WC (in case you didn't know, in this method you can specify an "default" approver in case that the determination of approver in GET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID fails). The idea is to specify an default approval and see how it behaves:
If the user you indicated in the method GET_FALLBACK_AGENTS appears as approver, then yes, the problem is arises from implementation GET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID, in which case it could be a data problem (peharps in pposa_bbp?). You could also check in TX SU53 with the users with this problem to see if there's a missing authorization objetc.
If, in the other hand, the "default" approver is not shown, it means that the process level buyer determination is not even called, so you should check in more detail ZSRM_WF_BRF_0EXP000_SC_APP100 and /SAPSRM/CL_WF_PROCESS_MANAGER > Determine process restart –method ----- (i have never used this method, so i could not tell if it could be the source of the problem).
Also, you could implement the method GET_FALLBACK_AGENTS in this way so the default approver would be the WF administrator indicated in the customizing (or you could just append directly any user you want):
METHOD /SAPSRM/IF_EX_WF_RESP_RESOLVER~GET_FALLBACK_AGENTS.
   DATA: lv_admin_expr TYPE swd_shead-admin_expr,
         lv_admin      TYPE swd_shead-wfi_admin,

   CALL FUNCTION 'SWD_WF_DEFINITION_ADMIN_GET'
     IMPORTING
       default_admin_expr = lv_admin_expr
       default_admin      = lv_admin
       default_admin_type = lv_admin_type.
   ls_agent-approver_id = lv_admin.
   APPEND ls_agent TO rt_agent.
ENDMETHOD.
Error of agent determination:
Please let me know the result of the test with the implementation of method GET_FALLBACK_AGENT. By doing this we could ensure if really the problem is in method GET_APPROVERS_BY_AREA_GUID or before. I just made the test in our system and I'm almost sure that you wont get the default approver, but i could be wrong.
