Creating a new portal in a new domain - no baseportal template
Using Weblogic Platform 7.0 on Solaris 8, I'm trying to work through the
procedure at http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs70/dev/newdom.htm "Creating a
new portal in a new domain."
Step 1 "Creating the new domain" goes fine. I can start the portal
server using WL/user_projects/domainname/startPortal.sh and connect to
its console at http://server:7501/console.
In Step 2 "Create the new portal", I start up ebcc.sh, open the project,
and run the Portal Wizard. I get as far as "Portal Templates". The
portal templates comes up empty; there is no baseportal icon, and I
can't go any further.
What's wrong?!?!

Creating and populating portal domain
I have created a portal domain on 8.1 platform using configuration wizard the problem
is that I the domain is empty and I need thelibraries available on the sample
portal how I am supposed to get to the my portal domain since I thought they would
be provided automaticall once creating portal domain ,in other words what would
be the standard way doing this .The admin portal exists as part of a portal application; it modifies the
state of the portal resources in the application it's part of. If
there's no app (such as with a new portal domain), there's no admin portal.
You should use Workshop to create a new portal application on your new
portal domain. In Workshop, use the menus: File|New|Application...,
choose Portal Application, choose the name of application, choose the
directory to put the application, then browse the Server field to the
config.xml of the portal domain you created.
If the server isn't already running, you can use Tools|WebLogic
Server|Start Server to start it, at which point Workshop will deploy the
new portal application to you domain, and you will be able to access the
admin portal (including on the menu from Portal|Portal Administration...

Weblogic portal 10.3.4 Domain creation issue
Hi All,
I have created the weblogic portal 10.3.4 domain with Oracle Data Base for the following connection pools (cgDataSource-jdbc.xml, cgDataSource-nonXA-jdbc.xml, p13nDataSource-jdbc.xml, p13nProfileDataSource-jdbc.xml, portalDataSourceAlwaysXA-jdbc.xml, portalDataSource-jdbc.xml, portalDataSourceNeverXA-jdbc.xml).
After creating the domain ran the create_db.cmd in windows, It created a folder weblogic_eval. I have started the service startDerby.cmd.
When i am trying to start the weblogic server its throwing me below exception.

Thanks,
Ram.Are you intending to use Oracle DB or Derby DB? If you intend to use Oracle, then you need to modify the connection information for the RDBMS Security Store. This is another step in the Domain Configuration Wizard, per release note 13371687.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14247/relnotes.htm#CJAEGAGD
If you follow this, you don't need to configure or start Derby DB.

Webapp not found when creating a new portal
Hi all,
I've just started exploring Weblogic Portal 8.1, and am now attempting to set-up a basic portal from scratch. Here's what I did.
1) Created a Weblogic Portal Domain using the Configuration Wizard. The domain name is "mydomain". The server name is "myserver".
2) In Weblogic Workshop, created a new application called "testportal".
3) In "testportal" application, created a new portal web project called "portal".
4) created "myportal.portal" portal in the "portal" portal web project.
5) Tried to start the portal (URL: http://localhost:7001/portal/myportal.portal), but received this error message:
<b>"Webapp portal not found in application testportal."</b>
6) When I tried to hit http://localhost:7001/portal, I was able to hit index.jsp for the web application, so the portal web app is alright.
Any ideas what I'm missing here?
Thanks!I'm not sure of what is going on but just wondering.. did you drag and drop portlets on to the portal?
I recommend you to try the below step-by-step tutorials.
Check this out. http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs81/startdev/startdev.html

Error creating new portal from docs
Hello,
I've been trying for several days now to create a new Portal from the
"Customizing Portals and Portlets" document
(http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/portal/devbasic.htm).
I get all the way to "Verify Your Deployment" without issue. I can even
verify the data synchronization using the data repository browser.
When I go to http://localhost:7501/insevoportal (or /InsevoPortal or
/InsevoPortal12, different attempts) all I get is the following in the
server console:
<Jul 16, 2002 2:27:34 PM MDT> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <Started

David McDanielDavid,
Did you get any errors or warnings when you ran a sync?
You can run a sync from the command line as well as from the EBCC. See the
sync.cmd and syncApplication.cmd for details. Also, launching the EBCC with
an open console window may give you some more information, as well as
checking the EBCC log.

Daniel,
Thanks for the response!
I believe I have sync'd the application. I go to the portalDataSync web
app, choose "Data Repository" link.
Then I click the View icon for the Master Data Repository.
Under there, I see things like:
/webapps/InsevoPortal12/InsevoPortal12.portal
/webapps/InsevoPortal12/portal.wf (and security.wf, tools.wf,
user_account.wf, webflow-extensions.wfx)
Looks about the same as the stockportal list. *** EXCEPT ** I don't see
my Portlet in my list. Is that because it has no workflow? I can see
the portlet in the EBCC.
In the stockportal, I see portlet2.wf and portlet3.wf. I don't see any
portlet wfs in my app.
Any help is appreciated. I will consider 7.0.

David

Create new portal-user with webservice
Hi,
I'm trying to develop a ejb-webservice which is creating a new Portal-User.
The webservice is working so far, I made methods like getDisplayName() which is returning the display name to a logonId and so on. All this is working. I'm using the component sap.security.api.sda for this.
Problem: User-creation is not working. I think the problem might be, that a webservice is not authorized to create users? Or putting it in another way: Is it possible that a webservice is "logging in" at the portal, or sohehow authorizing itself?
Thanks and regards
Jan HempelHi Detlev,
thanks for Your answer.
It seems like that the problem was caused by using array-parameters in the webservice-method?!
Strange, but after removing the array-parameter from the method it worked! Before the webservice never returned anything, not an error or anything else.
Well, strange enough, but I can live with that.

For NW2004s you can download from <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/cfc19866-0401-0010-35b2-dc8158247fb6">here</a>.
The steps for installation are:
1.Begin installation by executing JDTSetup.exe
2.Enter installation directory where u wish to install.
3.You will have to enter your Java SDK directory. NDS needs at least 1.4.2 version or later.
4.Enter folder name for workspace storage: C:\NWDS\Workspace or C:\SAP\JDT\Workspace
5.After installation is finished start Developer Studio by going to SAP Netweaver Deveoper Studio icon on your desktop.
6.Open EP Perspective by going to Window->Open Perspective->Other->Enterprise Portal
Hope this helps.

Portal 7: Creating a new portal site based on one of the samples
Hi guys,
I followed this article (
http://blogs.sun.com/jimfaut/entry/portal_7_creating_a_new ) to set up a new portal site like Enterprise sample
But when I log in the new site with new account , it always says "Login Unsucessful" .But If I use the accounts of old Enterprise Sample site such as : mary, chris, ed , the login is successful .
It seems the new site use the login page of the old site .
I don't know why . May you teach me to fix this strange bug ?

Edited by: milf on Mar 6, 2008 6:03 PMI know this is an old post but I have added to Jim Fauts article how to do this, see below:
Seeing that alot of people are facing the same problem regarding new user being unable to authenticate against the new Portal, I did a bit of digging up and managed to get it to work. See the steps I followed below, but first follow Jim's example above then after follow the example below:
After configuring the roles and loading display profile change the following settings, so that the new user's you create can authenticate.
I did the following to get my new users to authenticate:
On Solaris I opened the following file: /var/opt/SUNWportal/portals/csonline/desktop/csonline/Login/display.template
I changed all occurrences of org=EnterpriseSample to my new organization o=fiction
I also changed the Organization display profile document, replaced every occurrence of o=EnterpriseSample with the name of my organization fiction, in this case I replaced all values that are o=EnterpriseSample,dc=test,dc=co,dc=za
With o=fiction,dc=test,dc=co,dc=za
After configuration you might get a module denied error Authentication Module Denied
Depending on which module you are using, in my case I am using LDAP so I also changed all occurrences of Membership to LDAP inside the display.template file.
After the above changes restart your web container container for the changes to take place and Bobs your uncle.
Thats it. Its alive !!!
Hope this helps -

There are two lib files which you need to paste while you import the file in the NWDS.Just check for the steps through this weblog
the jar files name are

umelogonbase.jar
(when you unzip you can find the files at PORTAL-INFlib)
