Creating a PDF that has editable fields and replaceable images

I've been trying to figure out how I can create a PDF that has editable texts and replaceable images. I'm working for a company in which all computers only have Adobe Reader as means to view or edit a PDF file. So far I have managed to create a file that has editable text fields with customized appearance, which is great! The next step however was to create 'fields' that can be filled by an image. Is there a way to create replaceable images with LiveCycle or any other prorgram for that matter.
My goal is simple: Create a PDF that has editable textfields and replaceable images. All of which should be done in Adobe Reader.
I'm using Adobe Acrobat X Pro to create this file and I'm wondering if Live Cycle can help me with this problem, or if this is even possible to begin with. Thanks in advance.

Your goal is very simple with the LCD. You are have to use only an Image Field (important no Image) from the object library.
Any time you can click on it and select a new picture.
Hope this information is helpful?
Kind regards Mandy

Can you create a template that has a header and footer to forms?

Yes but how are they going to create the Landscape versions?
The problem with doing it in Pages '09 as rotated content is that the Headers and Footers are not rotated and there is inherent clumsiness in the rotated content usually being too large for the page when viewed at 90°.
Best to make it in two or more separate documents.

  • Creating a pdf from a word doc and the image and footer will not show

I am trying to create a pdf from a word doc that has an image and footer. Neither will show in the pdf. Also getting this message "Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website." My Cloud says it is updated.

    What was the Original?
If it was from Word, chances are the top and bottom Margins were set too narrow. (should not be less than .5 inches even more safety 1" would be better). As for graphics. Check in Word preferences (may be called different in a windows machine) make sure in view and Print settings "Graphics" is checked (show Graphics and Print Graphics).

  • Is it possible with Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF that has multiple usernames/passwors for read access and individualised watermarks or with any other adobe product?

    Hi,
We're looking for a solution where a PDF can be created and distributed to multiple people - each with their own username/password to open - and also when opened created a user based water mark on the document. Is this something that can be done inside Acrobat Pro or is there a higher end product that does this?
    Thanks!

If the list of people who and only who you want to be able to open this PDF is predefined, then you can use Certificate Encryption in Acrobat. For this method to work each of possible recipients of the encrypted PDF needs to procure a digital certificate with a private key enabled for encryption and send you the public key version of this certificate. Then you encrypt this PDF with public key certificates (there may be many of them) of all recipients you want to be able to open this PDF. Then you distribute this PDF to all recipients and each of them can then open this PDF with their private key certificates.
You can also create PDFs with Optional Content which contains different watermarks with the selector for a watermark based on user ID or some other identification of the user. I do not know, though how to create such Optional Content using just Acrobat Pro. You may need to write a plugin to Acrobat to do that.

Can Acrobat create PDF files that once downloaded - can't be opened after some preset time (48 hours)?

    Hi Edward lkeda,
I am not very sure of that however as per my knowledge , you can use Adobe send service and provide public link to your users and then after 48 hrs you can delete the file from server and make File-link inaccessible.
    Hope that helps,

    Hi,
    You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
    In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

  • Unable to save PDF's that have editable fields

I am unable to save forms that have editable fields. I get the error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk"
I am running windows xp, and started with reader 10.1.4 having this issue, now i upgraded to 11 and same results. My co workers can save the same form and i have over 80 gb of free space on my hard drive which is where i am saving it to. I have tried saving it to other locations on my hard drive but get the same message. I can however save pdf files that have no fillable forms in them just fine.
I could really use some help.
    Thanks

Figured out prtected mode was set to enabled on startup. Turned that off and no more problems.

Agreed. Adobe makes no claims that their Reader will work properly with forms made from third party software.

Thanks so much.  I downloaded Acrobat XI.  It's been "extracting" for the past 30 minutes (even with a fast wi-fi).  Hope this is not a problem.

  • What is the area up top that has edit, view, history, tools, help? and then I have another question

I lost the area on top of my page that has
    edit, view, history, tools, help
what is this area called? and how do I get it
    back?

You can still use/see the Menu Bar (''File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help'') if you prefer it:
*'''Temporarily display the Menu Bar''': press the ALT key for the F10 key and make your selections from the temporarily displayed Menu Bar
*'''Toggle between the Menu Bar and Firefox button'''. Do one of the following:
    **NOTE:
***Menu Bar '''checked''' = Menu Bar on, Firefox button off
***Menu Bar '''un-checked''' = Menu Bar off, Firefox button on
**keyboard shortcut: HOLD the ALT key while pressing the letters VTM on your keyboard
**Using the Menu Bar: click View > Toolbars, click Menu Bar
**Using the Firefox Button: click Firefox Button > Options, click Menu Bar
**right-click on an empty space in one of the toolbars, click Menu Bar

Thanks for your response. I do believe I have the information needed for each form on a separate line in Excel. There is a first name, middle name, last name, city, and zip column. And field is entered on a different line for all the information. I'm really stuck.

  • Trying to create a property that has a structure to it

    Hello:
I am trying to create a property that has a structure to it.  Specifically, I am trying to create a multi-valued property called checks.  This property is composed of check number, check date and check amount.
The data for this should display like the rows in a table, like an Excel spreadsheet.
I realize this is a tall order.  However, is this possible?  I have tried the composed of feature, but did not find this to work.
The best I could come up with so far is to have three multi-valued properties each for check number, check date and check amount.  The user would then need to ensure that the first entry for check number applies to the first entry for check date, and then the second entry for check number applies to the second entry for check date, and so on, and so on...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Create A Form That Has The Ability To Be Filled In

Hi, I'm new to PDF creation and what I am attempting to do is create a PDF that I can email to clients, have them fill it out and then email it back to me. Right now, I can create the PDF with no problem. What I am having a challenge with is creating a PDF that they can fill in the blanks and then send it back to me. What am I missing?
    Thanks
    Don

From what I read in your e-mail, you don't know where to start. The manual is the first place to hit (it is under the HELP). You have a choice of using AcroForms done directly in Acrobat. Just select the FORMS menu and then add form fields or such a menu item. You can also use Designer for creating forms (but can then no longer edit the PDF in Acrobat, only Designer). The tow methods have pros and cons, but I would suggest you start out with AcroForms.
Allowing for the form to be saved depends on the extent to which you expect it to be used. If the use will likely exceed 500 over time, then do not use this option. Simply create a button field that will allow for submission of the form and submit the form to a URL for processing (you will need help there) or a mailto:<mail address> with the pitfalls of the mailing. You should not include any private info, like credit cards if you use the email submission, and even with web submission without a secure server. I would suggest you have the form data submitted as a FDF data file (one of the selections in the submission setup). When you receive such a FDF file, simply open the PDF and then go to the form menu and import the data file. The result will be identical to what the customer had.
If this is confusing, sorry. It is best to start out creating a simple form and see if you can process it for yourself. Then go back and try to fix it with the desired form when you have a better idea where you are going.

  • How do I get a refund on Export PDF that has ALREADY been agreed

On 1/21-1/22 I tried to 'renew' a subscription for Export PDF. By some error (maybe mine - I just dont understand the whole thing) my Bank was immediately charged for two subscriptions, each at a different price. I immediately "chat"ted with several  reps (it was difficult to get onto the chat and find out how to cancel) and was assured that both would be cancelled and refunded. They weren't!
I waited a week. Was again frustrated by the chat hookup, and tried the 'cloud' retail product tel #, assuming it was wrong but that I could be switched to the correct one. Had a very pleasant chat, was assured that both would be cancelled and refunded, received 2 e-mails confirming the cancellations, each with a seperate "Case #". Felt pretty good! It had only taken me a week of reasonably diligent effort to get a very simple thing done! IT WASN"T DONE! (Yes, I apologize - I know I'm loud - but by now I've got steam coming out of my ears!)
Today I got an e-mail, telling me that the refund had been processed and the case # would be closed. I looked at my bank, and only one had been refunded! I reviewed all the other e-mails and the notes from the telephone calls and chats to be sure I hadn't misunderstood something. But, no I hadn't. I went to my Adobe on-line and looked up 'my orders' history. Sure enough one had been invoiced and refunded ( the lesser charge of the two) but the other had ONLY BEEN INVOICED - NOT CANCELLED. And it seems that every piece of this transaction generates a new "order" , "case" or some other "reference #" - none of which are tied together, except by the invoice amount, when it is mentioned - which it typically IS NOT.
My question, then, is : How can I get past this absolute frustration over every aspect of my interaction with Adobe and GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF?????????

    Hi Stacy,
        What frustration? (Just kidding !)
As I mentioned, one of the two charges has been  refunded. Credited by
Adobe on Jan 28, I believe I received it in my bank on Jan  30.
The other charge, $25.37 of order # AD011017507,  has not been received
by my bank yet. But this can't be that much of a surprise,  and has nothing
to do with "10 business days" for refunds to post.
To this minute, "My Orders" on Adobe website shows  that the order #
AD011017507  was invoiced on January 22, but that no  credit invoice has been
posted against this order to this moment!
Can you begin to understand the frustration of  being unable, through
all attempts to untangle this mess, starting within  one hour of the original
order, with I believe nine different "Chats",  telephone calls and, finally
a "problem" posting,  stretching over more  than thirteen days. Of course
it doesn't make much sense to devote this much  attention to less than $50
worth of stuff, but I do not let things like this  dangle.
And can you imagine how loathe I am to deal with  Adobe for fear of
    some real problem?
At any rate, I would certainly be pleased if you  can suggest a way for
me to extricate myself from this. Any help would be  GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks for your time and any trouble,
        Stephen Ellis

  • Creating a .pdf that someone can sign digitally

Where I work we FAX out hundreds of drawings per year for customers to sign.  These are 8.5" x 11" documents usually between one and five pages.  Is there anyway to create a .pdf that that has some kind of signature line or signature button that the customer can click to indicate approval of the drawing?  This would alleviate the need for both the original FAX and for the customer's return FAX.  I know how to create the .pdf but don't know how to put in a signature option.
We are using Adobe CS3.  We also have Adobe Acrobat 9 and LiveCycle Designer ES2.
    Thank you.

With Acrobat 8 (Pro or 3D) or Acrobat 9 (Standard, Pro, Pro Extended) you can "Reader enable" a PDF.
One thing this provides is that users of Adobe Reader (back to, I think, Reader 7.(something)) can use the Comments & Markup tools.
So, you send me this PDF of a drawing. It is "Reader enabled".
I use Adobe Reader (knowing "good tools" is "good business", I'm using Reader 9 - fully updated <g>).
I open the PDF. I add a "Sticky Note", maybe add some text, and use the Options drop-down to go to Set Status > Review > Accepted.
Maybe I get fancy and go into the Sticky Note Properties to change the "appearance" from the default "Comments" to one of the other icons available.
You get the annotated PDFs back. Perhaps an individual PDF has more than one annotation.
Open the Comments List. Looking over the Tool bar for this you will see that you can show/hide/sort and output PDF reports.
Of course, a small learning curve is involved.
Pay off is that the turnips go to market via a truck versus a horse drawn cart (fax).  8^)
    Be well...
