Creating a scrollback buffer using a JTextPane

Hi all, I've run into a problem with an application I'm developing, and I'm hoping to find some help here. This is my first crack at a designing anything worthwhile using Swing, so please bear with me. :)
My problem: I need a buffer to store a certain number of lines of text, then when the maximum is reached, start removing the oldest lines. eg) max of 10 lines, when line 11 is received, line 1 is removed.
The JTextPane is contained in a JScrollPane, so the actual scrolling is taken care of.
Also, somewhat related, how can I force the JScrollPane to stay at the "bottom" of the pane? When new data is received from the server, it's added to the JTextPane, but I can't seem to find a way to force it to stick to the bottom.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Could you use the system line terminator to determine how many lines of text are in the JTextPane? If so, you can simply find the first line, and remove it, then re-set it back into the JTextPane. A StringBuffer would probably be beneficial for the manipulation.
For the JScrollPane you could try using the getVerticalScrollBar() method to get the vertical scroll bar, then set the it's value to it's maximum value, to try and force it to the bottom of the scrolling region.

Is there any way to create a circular buffer using the INSERT ARRAY function?

I saw the example using the REPLACE ARRAY function, but it uses too much CPU power on my laptop. I'm using it for a very sensitive application and saw that the INSERT ARRAY function used much less CPU power.
I am also not wiring the index on the INSERT ARRAY function so that whatever is read from the buffer is added to the array.
However, since it is not indexed, I don't know how to set the "write" index back to 0 when it reaches a certain sized array (ie 1000 elements). I was looking for an array property node, but couldn't figure out if one exists for the "current write index".
Can anyone help?

I will try to answer this question to my best understanding. I apologize if I interpreted the question wrong.
You are using the "Insert Array" vi without wiring the index. By doing that, new elements will be added (appended) to the array.
If you just want to know the current index to stop your acquisition when the array reach certain amount of elements, then you can use the "Array Size" vi to keep track of the size of the growing array. Remember that Array Size = last index + 1 because the index start at zero.
A second option is that you may want to start over the array when it hits the maximum number of elements that you will allow. If that's the case, then you may want to re-initialize the array to a NULL state by stablishing a condition (for example, when the
size of the array is 1000, re-initialize). I provided an example attached to this message showing how this can be accomplished. In the example, an 1D array grows in size using the "Insert Array" vi and inserting a random number. When the array reach 4 elements, it is re-initialized. You can expand this example by saving the array first to a file or some other holder before re-initializing the array. The example is in LabVIEW 6.
Finally, if you want to replace the current values with new values, I think you do not have other choice but to use the "Replace Array" vi.

How do you create a disk image using Disk Copy?

Hello,
Is there any way you can create a disk image using Disc Copy? Is there a better way to create a Disk Image?
I would like to burn two copies of a 4.2 gig folder on my mac. I usually insert a blank DVD-R and then the mac asks if I would like to prepare it at which point I click "yes". An icon of a DVD disk appears on the desktop and then I drag my files onto this icon. It takes a few moments to create the disc image and then I click "burn". However, after the disc is burned the disc image disappears and I have to start all over again if I want to make another copy.
How can I save this disc image? If I could save the disc image, it would enable me to burn a second DVD right after the first without having to create the disk image all over again. This would save a lot if time.
I am using OS 10.1.5

That worked however when I insert a blank DVD-R, the disk image still has to be copied to the DVD-R buffer and then it can be burned. And so this doesn't really save any steps - the "copying into the buffer" step still has to occur whether or not you have created a disk image of your files. So creating a disk image doesn't really shorten the process of burning multiple copies of a DVD.
I will try to describe the steps more clearly:
Two of the three steps for creating a DVD (steps 2 and 3) are very time-consuming:
1. put blank DVD into the drive (a DVD disk icon quickly appears)
2. drag files onto this icon (this step takes a long time as the files are copied into the buffer)
3. choose "burn" (the actual burning also takes a long time)
I was hoping that when I create two or more DVDs of the same files, I could first create a Disk image so that when I create the second DVD, step 2 could be skipped. That does not seem to be the case - the disk image still has to be re-loaded. And so I think I will not bother with the Disk image idea - it doesn't seem to be necessary or helpful when burning DVDs to backup data.

i am not sure about that (havent run any experiments) but i doubt the penalty will be that huge! Here is what happens when you call drawTriangles :
There are 2 buffers front and back buffer when you make a call to the drawtriangles function it draws the triangles to the back buffer (so you could call it repeatedly in a loop to draw multiple 3d objects, correctly sorted, thanks to z buffering) and the moment you call the present() function it swaps the back buffer (the one the draw triangles function drew triangles too) with the front buffer (which was being displayed to the viewer while the drawtriangles function was drawing triangles to the back buffer) so now you would be viewing the back buffer while the front buffer will be used by draw triangles function in the next iteration to draw triangles too (a pretty old technique, but a very effective one (its used in opengl, i think its glutswapbuffers or something in gl, i have done demo with quite a lot 3d objects (primitives but heavily tesselated) and get pretty good fps!) , the method is used to avoid flickering).
Quick Note : when you are rendering multiple objects with different program3D make sure to null out the streams for example if program1 uses a texture and program2 does not, in this case you should null out the texture stream before you draw triangles using program2 like so : context3d.settextureat(0,null)....
i have been burned by this many times. if you dont do it you will end up getting the message : "texture stream is set but not used by the fragment shader".

Create a html-file from a JTextPane

i want to create a html-file and i want to use a JTextPane for the input of information.the text can be bold, italic, underlined and so on. i want to set the html-tags for this text-style in the html-file.

All the tables are legally join but after executing I am not able to fetch any data or hardly one service PO.
And the selection field will be only From Date and To date.or the Service PO No.

The fact that you are getting an "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied" message indicates that you are at least talking to the database.
The log shows that username "infdomain" is being used. Can you double check the username and password you have in DAC in a SQL*Plus/SQL Developer session?

I was trying to create a report that uses Oracle OCI JDBC connectivity. I am using Eclipse3.4 download from "cr4e-all-in-one-win_2.0.2.zip". I have successfully created a JDBC OCI connection.
The connection parameters are given below:

I have tested the above connection in Data source Explorer and it works fine!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I was able to create a report in Creystal Reports Designer 2008 using OCI. It is not allowing only in the Eclipse plugin. In our environment we are not allowed to user Oracle thin connections and ONLY OCI is allowed.
1) Can you please let me know if there is a way to do this?
2) Will it allow data sources using native database driver?
3) If so, can I use JRC to create these reports from a desktop java program?

Trying to create a certificate file using keytool -help!

Hi, I've followed a series of instructions using Terminal to create a certificate. Terminal produced a file and when i open it using Text Edit its about 20 lines long worth of code. I was hoping it would provide a certificate I could use. Maybe it has, I just don't know what I'm looking for!
Im working in Viewer Builder and I'm in the Provisioning tab trying to enter the "Application ID"
I'm totally stuck here. Please help!

I'm using DPS pro. My app is for Android but won't be going as far as Google Play or Amazon. It's for internal use so I want to create an APK file to distribute via email. (Mac OS) Create a certificate file using Keytool
Open Terminal, which is located in the Applications > Utilities folder.
Type (or paste) the following line (replace “myname.key.p12” with the actual name of your certificate):

Specifying “10000” sets the expiration date after 22 October 2033.
Enter and reenter a password. Until the Viewer Builder supports the creation of custom Android apps, it's necessary to share this password with Adobe. Create a password that you can share.
Follow the prompts to specify the certificate information.
When prompted to confirm choices, enter yes, and then press Return to use the same password.
A certificate is created in your prompt location, such as your user name folder. Copy this certificate file to a known location. Write down the password as well.

I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?

Answer:-
For a Name to work in iChat it has to be an Valid AIM screen Name.
Only Apple IDs from the @mac.com ending names registered here and the Mobileme (@Me.com ending) names are Valid with the AIM service as well as being Apple IDs
(I am still working on info about registering with iCloud at the moment but if this does give you an @Me.com email it may well be a valid AIM name as well)
NOTES:-
The @mac.com page works by linking an external (Non Apple) email with a @mac.com name.
This External Email cannot be one linked to an Existing Apple ID (you have to use a second email or register at AIM )
The options at AIM are to use your existing email or create new name and link the existing only for Password recovery
MobileMe (@me.com ending names) were valid Emails addresses, Apple IDs AND a Valid AIM Screen Name
@mac.com names look like emails but are only Apple IDs and iChat/AIM Valid Screen Names.
The AIM registration page seems to be pushing you to register [email protected] This is relatively new and I have not followed through the pages to find out if it a valid AIM email (Previously you could register a name without an @whatever.com suffix)

So I have my current [email protected] email in iChat as I thought as I had linked that to an Apple ID it was a Valid iChat Name. It keeps coming up with a UserName or Password Invalid message. What do I do next ?
Answer:-
Open iChat
Go to the Menu under the iChat name in the Menu Bar and then Preferences and then Accounts in the new window.
Commonly written as iChat > Preferences > Accounts as directions/actions to take.
If it displays with a Yellow running name in the list you have a choice.
Either register it at AIM (I would use a different password to the ISP Login) and then change the password only in iChat (It may take you to confirm any Confirmation email from AIM first) in iChat > Preferences > Accounts
Or you register a new Name at AIM (Or at @mac.com) and enter that (details below)
If you have a Blue Globe name (@mac.com) that will not Login the chances are that it the password that is the issue.
Apple lets you create longer passwords than can be used with the AIM Servers.
Change the Password at iForgot to no more than 16 characters.
Then change the password in iChat as details above.
Adding a new Account/Screen Name in iChat (that is valid with the AIM servers)
Open iChat if not launched.
Go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
Click the Add ( + ) Button at the bottom of the list.
Choose in the top item drop down either @Mac.com or AIM depending on what you registered
Add the name (with @mac.com the software will add the @mac.com bit)
Add in the password. (If you don't add it now iChat will ask you each time you open it)
Click Done.
The Buddy List should open (New Window)
The Accounts part of the Preferences should now have the new name and you should be looking at the details.
You can add something in the Description line which will then title the Buddy List (Useful when you have two or more names) and make it show up as that in the iChat Menu > Accounts and the Window Menu of iChat when logged in.
You can then highlight any other Account/Screen Name you don't want to use and use the Minus ( - ) Button to delete it.

How do you create an array without using a shell on the FP?

I want to be able to read the status of front panel controls (value, control box selection, etc.) and save it to a file, as a "configuration" file -- then be able to load it and have all the controls set to the same states as were saved in the file. I was thinking an array would be a way to do this, as I have done that in VB. (Saving it as a text file, then reading lines back into the array when the file is read and point the control(s) values/states to the corresponding array element.
So how do I create an array of X dimensions without using a shell on the front panel? Or can someone suggest a better way to accomplish what I am after? (Datalogging doesn't allow for saving the status by a filename, so I
do not want to go that route.)

I'm not sure I follow all the icons. Is that an array (top left with 0 constant) in the top example? And if so, that gets back to part of my original question of how to create an array without using a shell on the FP. Do I follow your diagram correctly?

I simply wrote a key for each control, and read back that key on initialization. I simply passed in property node values to the save VI at the end, and passed the values out to property nodes at
the beginning. I've attached my initialize and save VI's for you to view. If you have so many controls that this would not be feasible, you may want to look into clustering the controls and saving the cluster as a datalog file.
