Creating an interactive DVD from a Keynote presentation

Does anyone know how to create an interactive DVD from a Keynote Presentation?
I tried the export to Quicktime option, and then brought that QT movie into iDVD. The problem is that the interactive pauses between slides that I get with the QT version, isn't there in iDVD. The transitions turn into chapters, and when you play the DVD, one chapter goes right into another.
I'm sure someone has dealt with this before.

Be careful with terminiology. WIth Keynote 3 you can create a linear DVD, that works the same way a show in Keynote works if you plan to move through the show in the order you built it (complete with all the builds). What it does NOT appear to do is allow you to make a non linear DVD, which is, if you put a button/hyperlink on a slide, it won't work in the DVD. See my other thread about this for the reason why. I'm praying the next version of DVD Studio Pro will read iDVD projects, which would allow us to customize what Apple creates for us automatically.

I want to create interactive DVDs from html. The end product will be a website stored and browsable on the DVD using the remote control to navigate the menus. Can I do this with Encore?

How do I copy an image from one Keynote presentation to another one?

I have a previously saved presentation on Keynote in iCloud. I created it from my desktop at work. Some of the images I used for the presentation I want to use again in another presentation, onlh this time I am working off my laptop and don't have the same access to those images. Is it possible to copy/paste images from one Keynote presentation into another? I can't even seem to click on the image and save it.
Any suggestions?

Clicking and dragging does not work.
Click on the image and Copy and Paste
or
Inspector > Metrics > File Info > click on the icon of the file and drag it to your desktop
You can then drag that file back in wherever you want.

How can I launch an external app from a keynote presentation?

I'm trying to launch a Prezi presentation ("Prezi.app") from a keynote presentation, but don't know how to do it.
Links in keynote can only refer to websites or slides within the presentation, but not to start another App, like in - I hate to say it - Powerpoint.
Any ideas?

Keynote is specifically prevented from opening applications.
In Keynote 09 (the previous version), hyperlinks can:
Jump to a slide in the same presentation
Open a webpage in the computer’s default web browser
Open another Keynote document
Open an email message
Exit the slideshow
in Keynote 6 (the latest version) hyperlinks can:
Jump to a Slide in the same presentation
Web page
Mail opens a pre-addressed email message
Exit the presentation

How to create a PAL DVD from a NTSC camera

Hi,
I have a Canon HF10 which I have bought in the US, so it is a NTSC camera. I am living in Europe, so I would like to create a PAL dvd from the footage which I have recorded.
The footage have been shot using 1080/24p and I have imported it into iMovie. Do I need to do something extra or can I just export it and burn an dvd from iDVD?

How do I create a playable DVD from camcorder footage?

Hi, almost total newbie here. My problem is that I'm wanting to create a playable DVD from a video I've made, but all my burns so far have resulted in DVDs which will play back on the iMAC they're created on, but not on my iBook G3. This is a worry, as I'm needing to send something playable interstate, quite urgently, and it needs to be either a Quicktime movie or a playable DVD.
So far, I've managed to get the footage into iMovie, edit the clip length and add the effects I want.
I'm then exporting the finished clip, ready to burn. Problem is, I'm completely confused about which settings to choose. Nothing I've tried seems to give me the results I want.
When I play back on the iMAC, it's fine. When I try to open the movie in Quicktime on my iBook, it invariably stalls or skips frames. Any playback it does give is terribly disjointed. The problem isn't the iBook, as I can play commercial DVDs on it.
The clip is intended for public screening, and I'm on a deadline. I've been browsing the forums and have found a few tips which might help, but nothing that sounds very different from what I've done, or sufficiently clear for a non-techie like me to grasp.
Can anybody clear this up for me?
As a side note, my daughters have been having the same difficulty, trying to burn DVD from animations they've put together in photoshop. Their issues were solved when they selected the Mpeg format to export in, although this did result in some sight loss of quality in terms of appearance on playback. ie the images were not as crisp, edges slightly fuzzy, etc.
After hours of frustration, we're just not sure what to try next.

You should just send ("Share") the movie to iDVD from iMovie.

Trying to create PAL SD DVD from 23.98fps 720P project

I'm trying to create a PAL DVD from a HDV 23.98fps 720P project and am having a few issues. All the footage is PAL and I am converting it to an SD file as it is for an SD DVD however exporting through FCP gives me black frames, using DVD studio pro to convert gives me a freeze frame effect (both of which I assume is through converting 23.98 to 25 fps) so I was told to use Compressor. I tried this but can only seem to render out a 23.98fps file as NTSC, whenever I switch it to PAL it automatically changes to 25fps as my only option.
Any help would be much appreciated as my deadline is looming.

Are you sure that your footage is PAL 23.98 fps? I'm not involved with HDV but that sounds like NTSC frames.
What is the source of that footage?

Creating an installation DVD from CS4 download files

Greetings! Has anyone managed to create a functional installation DVD(s) from the downloaded files of CS4 Design Premium. After extracting the files, which folders have to go on which DVD? I have both WIN and MAC and would like to install these from DVD.

Thanks for all the replies!! Gosh. Robert: Adobe support apparently told "cosmicone37" that "you can't create an installation DVD from the downloadable files. The only way to have a DVD installable version of any of the suites is to go through Adobe Support and get the DVDs through them." As stated by me, this is simply not true. Read below. Yes, storing them on a DVD at least frees up the HDD space. But they are of no use unless copied back to the HDD each time one wishes to alter the installation etc. So I don't consider this a solution to the question Brad raised. Brad... et all... Here is the answer. These instructions are for the master suite. 1) In your DVD-DL burner software set up a new project. 2) Call the disc ADBEMST4 3) Using the free 7-Zip program (google for it) extract the contents of the ADBESTAMCS4_LS1.7z file you have downloaded. 4) You need to edit the setup.xml file which is in the \Adobe CS4\Payloads folder Make it like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Setup version="2.0.138.0"> <Driver folder="AdobeMasterCollection4-mul-trial"/> <Media> <Volume> <Name>ADBEMST4</Name> <Payloads> <Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR"></Payload> ... snip (see note) .... <Payload folder="AdobeMasterCollection4-mul-trial"></Payload> </Payloads> </Volume> </Media> </Setup> NOTE: I have removed all but one of the payload lines because there are too many to post here. But on every payload line you are changing from: <Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR">Adobe CS4</Payload> to <Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR"></Payload> (as an example taken from the first payload line) Do that to every line. You are simply removing the "Adobe CS4" text. Or download the edited xml from here: (only valid for 10 downloads as I am not a rapidshare user) http://rapidshare.com/files/160301059/Setup.xml.html 5) Back to your DVD project. In the root of the disc you are creating, place all the files and folders in the \Adobe CS4 folder you ended up with after the extraction. Don't copy the \Adobe CS4 folder itself, just everything in it. So you'll end up with something looking like this: http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/8144/step5rh4.png (image not from me, just one I found whilst researching this) If you want the extra files to be included (as found in STAMCS4_Cont_LS1.exe) then extract these with 7-Zip also. Copy the resulting files to your disc project. If you don't need the additional languages, then don't add them to the project. You may already be going over the limit for DVD-DL... so check on that. 5) In your project put the new/edited setup.xml into the \Payloads folder. Remove the setup.xml already dragged into the project first, or overwrite it when you drag in the new one. 6) Burn 7) Install 8) Enjoy If you have any questions let me know. Can the latest version of iMovie create a PAL DVD from NTSC Video camcorder? What are best practices and workflow to create a PAL DVD from NTSC sources.

iMovie doesn't create DVDs, iDVD does..
in iM's prefs, set Video to 30fps = NTSC
quit and relaunch to take changes in effect
in iDVD's prefs, set Video to 25fps = PAL
quit and relaunch to take changes in effect
when finished with editing in iM, Share to Mediabrowser
in iDVD, select a theme, grab movies from Mediabrowser
burned DVD will be PAL ..

You do it sort of like the way you arrange your apps on the iPad and how you drag apps into groups. You do the same technic with your Keynote slides.

Can a DVD be copied and an almost duplicate DVD be created from it with an iDVD slideshow added?
I would like to know if I can make a composite DVD from my wedding video DVD and the wedding slideshow DVD I created with iDVD that keeps all their respective assets intact. Consequently, is it possible to copy both dvds and make a new dvd with just a higher level main menu added that allows you to view both dvds' contents just like the originals?

I think that in order to do this, you will need to first
convert your Captivate content to a video format. (.WMV, .FOB, .MPG
and others) You could do this by importing the Captivate project in
Flash and creating the video output from there. Or you might use

Keynote presentation does not automatically play upon open when called from another keynote presentation

I have a master keynote presentation that hyperlinks to other keynote presentations. The called keynote presentations open, but do not automatically play even though I have marked them to automatically play upon open. What am I doing incorrectly?

Automatically Play on open, has the same function as pressing the play button in the tool bar.
Once the presentation is playing, it will move to the next slide depending on
how you have set the options in:
Inspector > Document > Presentation
the choices to advance to the next slide are:
normal           - requires a keyboard press or a muse click to advance
Hyperlink       - requires the mouse to click on an object with a hyperlink
Recorded      - plays back using the recorded narration sound track
Self-playing   - will advance according to the options in the delay times set in
Inspector > Document > Presentation

Retreving a video from a keynote presentation?

i currently kave a presentation on my mac but need to find where one of the videos is stored so i can make it compatable for the ipad. does anyone know where/ what folder the videos from a presentation are kept.

The Keynote file is actually a folder that holds all the files that make up your Keynote. To view the files, right click the Keynote file and select Show Package Content. If you don't see the option to show package content, then follow the below steps to see the files.
Go to the Finder and find your Keynote file and make sure that it has the .key extension on it. If it doesn't, click it and command i to view info and uncheck the box that says Hide Extension.
Delete the .key and change to .zip and then click the use .zip in the dialog box that comes up
Double click the new .zip file and it will change it to a folder
Open the folder and there are the files that make up your Keynote
Close the folder and add .key to the end of the name and click Add in the dialog box (this will change it back to a Keynote file)
