Creating an own outline view in Eugenia

Hi everyone
I'm basicly new to Eugenia, GEF and GMF and whatsover, so I'm kinda stuck with a little Problem.
I'm creating a simple graphical editor with Eugenia, with two kind of nodes and one kind of link. So far so good, but now I'm trying to implement a custom view which should communicate with the editor/ diagram by showing Objects within a list. I implemented a custom View, puzzled some swt Buttons and a List to it and now I'm trying to actually fill this List with Objects that are part of the Diagram. The View is even visible while operating the Editor (meaning: I can open it via Window -> show View etc)
Like I said, I'm new to this so I have no Idea where even to start looking for a solution. At the moment I've found tons of tutorials and the like, but no concrete way to do that as I dont want a complete navigator.

Hi Larry. I see. It is a file I have worked on previously, and the font is Myriad which I though came with the system. I just changed to Myriad Pro and the pink box disappeared. Thanks for the assistance, I know a new thing!

Using Custom Styles for Levels in Outline View

How do you associate different levels in the Outline View with custom styles? By default they are associated with Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.

Styles apparently have a hidden "my associated outline level is #" property. However you have to start with a style that has this hidden property set as there seems to be +no way+ to access or change this property yourself (This is unusually poor interface design from Apple - they've traditionally been better than that.)
You essentially need to use only the names "Heading 1", "Heading 2", etc, for styles associated with outline levels, and you can't create these styles yourself. You can change the formating of these styles in the normal way: Start with a paragraph formatted using "Heading #", changing the outline level to the appropriate one, manually change the text to look the way you want, select the new formatted outline level paragraph, and do "redefine style with selection". You can't just apply another style, it over-writes the hidden outline level # property with its own, usually "body", making it really difficult to add an outline to an existing document - you have to re-create all the styles.
You can have mutliple styles that apply at the same level by doing the same as above, but instead of redefining the appropriate "level #" heading do "Create new paragraph style from selection". (You have to name it something other than "Heading #").
Applying this style gives a paragraph the associated outline level as well. Unfortunately, if you promote or demote an "outline level #" tagged paragraph, its hidden "outline level #" property is changed and the new style will always become the "Heading #" style associated with the hidden "outline level #" property. There is no memory of where it came from, of course, so if returned to its original outline level, it looses the "custom named style". There is no way to tell Pages that it should choose your custom named style by default instead of the "Header #" style for a given outline level. I can see no reason Pages couldn't do this too.
I have a complicated document that was written with consistent styles for headers, and now want to use the outline feature. I have to literally recreate all the heading styles from scratch. I can then do "select all instances" for my former styles and then click on the "Heading #" style reformatted as a copy, changing them to exactly what they were before, except with the new mandated name and the one magic hidden property changed.
There is also some weird behavior used to hide unused "Heading #" styles: You can see evidence of this if you repeatedly demote an outline paragraph; the extra heading styles automatically appear in the style draw. Then if you then repeatedly promote the same outline paragraph, these intermediate styles go away. How that works without loosing user-defined styles with the same name I have no idea.

I just want to use a picture as my DVD cover, and then insert a slideshow. Also, when I try to burn my 8.5gb double sided slideshow, all that burns is the music. It is a large slideshow, a memorial on the life of my now deceased brother. This means a lot to me and to my family, and I am having so much trouble trying to burn it. I have gone into Project View and selected appropriately. The bar shows I have room to burn this DVD, but it does not burn. I have burned so many DVDs in the past, but this one just will not burn. I am so confused at this point. I will say this is the first 8.5gb I have attempted to create and burn. My specs list a 7.7gb or 4.7gb as operable....but there are no 7.7gb dvds. I had to purchase 8.5gb. Help? What am I doing wrong? I have spent so much time on this, and just cannot figure it out.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor. The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here.

Please help I'm new to iweb and I'm trying to figure out who to create my own theme, complete with my own color palette, fonts etc? I maintain my sororities website and everything has to be pink and green but I would like for our site to have the professional look iweb provides without all of the hassel of custom coding. Welcome to the Apple Discussions. To create a complete theme with all the different pages takes considerable coding knowledge.
I think it would be more expedient to start with a blank page of the white theme and add your shapes, colors, photos, etc. that you want to use. Be careful regarding use of non web safe fonts. If you do it can change how the site looks when viewed by visitors on PCs which might not have that font on their machine. See the following regarding web safe fonts:

Is this the start... Verizon is blocking Google Wallet which is very nice, and you probably don't know they are creating their own Verizon Wallet

I have been with this company for over 10 years and frankly I always overlooked one thing wasn't to keen on and that was some of the services Verizon offered on their website which many of the account related services they have as apps so you can view from your phone are good and useful. I have been an Android user since the first Moto Droid to the Incredible and Inc2, then I though I was gonna go iphone, until I was able to use one for a month. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad it was my brothers 4G on another network when he upgraded to the 4GS. Anyway no real problems other than Android just has more to offer so I went with the Nexus Galaxy and stayed with Verizon, after I was flipping a coin to go to Sprint. Anyway the reason I am leaving Verizon is due to their attempt to create apps to try to compete with googles apps and Verizon charges... you can find most for free from the droid market(which is the Play store now) such as Navigation. The free Google Nav is awesome, I also have google voice(free) so I get text messages emailed to me and vmails emailed and texted to me as well as being able to listen straight from phone by pushing play by the missed call. Verizon continutes to create these apps that also cost money and aren't near as good. I actually feel bad for the people who think the VZ nav is in fact the google nav. Now they are blocking a new service of Google's called Google Wallet. It's free and really cool, but Verizon blocks you from installing it or using it and Verizon is spending over a 100,000,000 dollars to create their own Wallet APP that i'm sure won't be free. So it's not that one app as to why I am leaving, its a number of things that as an experienced user and add the fact that I work in the tech industry, in sales that I Verizon taking advantage of customers, and I don't work that way or like it. Okay you go buy a verizon phone, it will have the VZ Nav right there on the home screen, however there will be no google Nav, and for newbies they usually think this is the navigation everyone talks about. You have to go download the Google Maps which is a turn by turn navigation always up to date and is awesome. I watch my kid driving down the road at all times for free. My point is now that their blocking Google Wallet because they are creating there own wallet, which won't be as good, and probably cost money to even spend money meaning they will charge for it. What is the next brilliant thing that Google comes out with that you can intergrate into your Google services. So what is the point of trying to compete with Google on apps, I mean the Verizon wallet? Why it makes no sense. Why block an app thus not giving you the luxery. They have their reasons of course such as security, and other reasons that it could cause problems but, hey if you dare to spend the outrageous amount of money to activate your hostspot to connect your computer wirelessly in a park. 75% of the people who do this are going to be on an unsecured network that anyone can connect to even with security turned on. So they say there worried about security on the wallet app, because someone may cold get access to your small amount that most people keep on the google wallet but the wireless hotspot is putting much more that money out there. it's putting personal things and files on your computer out there. I just dont' get why they can't provide their songs and ring tones and apps that allow you to see you data usage and leave the apps for the Google market. For you who don't know please download google maps and you will have an awesome navivation. Also google talk, voice, chat, and there apps on the google market for free such as a punch clock for time. I saw one for over $14 on the verison app store. So stick to what you are good at ,and don't block apps that other companies aren't blocking including at&T now, and they were in on the $100,000,000 to create this app along with Tmoblie and Verizon. I use an android because of the capapbilites that google gives you, and the apps that they offer for free or no money. Go look in the Verizon apps and see how much you will pay. Most that cost money come preinstalled on your phone so all you have to do is use it and you start getting charged. This is a 3 year decision making. I don't like that people can easily get charged for services without even knowing just because the app was installed and they used it once. Just stay with what your good at and let the android users rightly use the google apps. After all Google Saved your business if you really want to think about it. If you didn't have the android OS, how many sales would you be getting? Where would your company be. This app was developed by Google which means it ties into everything else such as making online payments with the google card. How do I create my own eBook?

I have many documents from school that I'd like to scan, convert to PDFs and then compile together into one PDF file. The problem is that whenever I scan a document, I can't compress it down enough without sacrificing quality, so I can't have a small PDF file. I have a few eBooks, and, looking at their properties, somehow the creators of those eBooks were able to compress their PDFs down enough without sacrificing any quality to the documents whatsoever. Here's an example:
one eBook that I have is 696 pages, the filesize is 4,159,863 bytes, and it looks like it was simply scanned and put together, because the quality of the eBook matches the book that it came from (which I happen to own). True, the images in the eBook are black and white (some of the images in the book are in colour), but there is no noticeable depreciation in their quality. Whoever created it was using the application PScript5.dll version 5.2, the PDF producer Acrobat Distiller 6.0.1 (Windows), the PDF version is 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x), and was NOT optimized for fast web view. How did the author get the page size so small (kb wise) yet retain quality? If one were to do the math: 4,159,863 bytes divided by 696 pages equals 5976.81, then divided by 1000 equals 5.97681. Almost 6 kb per page? How is that possible?
The smallest I could compress scanned images was about 20 kb, and the quality was terrible. In fact, the only way I could shrink them to that size was to scan them in Black and white (1 bit), and then distill them as much as I dared. The vast majority of documents that I'm scanning are black and white text with very little in the way of graphics.
Here are the programs that I have at my disposal:
Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and HP Director (for scanning with my HP PSC 1210 all-in-one printer, which has OCR technology)
Microsoft Word 2000 (9.0.2720)
Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5 (10/26/01) (yes, it has paper capture)
Acrobat Distiller 5.0.5.2001101100
It is driving me absolutely crazy that I cannot figure this out. Even creating my own job option in Distiller and adjusting the settings didn't help.
It should be possible, with the programs that I have, to get the results I want. For those of you who believe I should upgrade to something beyond Adobe Acrobat 5, here's another example for you:
There used to be a link on www.iartonline.ca (which no longer exists) to a PDF that is 13 pages long, created with the application Microsoft Word 8.0, the PDF producer is Acrobat Distiller 4.0 for Windows, the PDF version is 1.2 (Acrobat 3.x) and has a file size of 79,719 bytes. In contrast, I scanned two school documents (using OCR) into Microsoft Word, corrected any errors, and converted it to an Adobe PDF from there. The resulting size (for TWO PAGES) was 25 kb.
So, in conclusion, it HAS to be possible for me to scan my documents, retain their quality while compressing their size, and compiling them into single file PDFs.
I apologize for the lengthy explanation (this is why I couldn't ask the question on WikiAnswers), but hopefully this will save others interested in answering from asking irrelevant (to me) questions.

I don't understand why this question hasn't been answered yet. Am I not explaining it in clear enough terms or in plain enough English?
Since it seems to be such a big question to answer, I'll break it down:
Once I have scanned an image, how do I convert that image into a small PDF?
An example of what I mean: if I scan one sheet of paper...let's say it's a sheet of band music, meaning some text & mostly graphics in black and white...what settings would I use to convert that scanned image (that 'scanned image' could be in bitmap, jpg or just about any other kind of image file format) into a small PDF file? By 'small', I mean 20 kb or less (1 sheet of black and white text & graphics is DEFINITELY capable of being compressed down to that size with little to no loss of visual quality). I've messed around with various settings in Acrobat Distiller 5 AND 6, and the resulting PDFs have been WAY too big (100, 200, some even 400 kb). I've even done a scan of a sheet of band music, saved it as a jpg (82 kb), tried to open that jpg file in Acrobat 5, and received the message, "insufficient data for an image". Absolutely impossible, but it happened anyway. I've been able to open jpg files in Acrobat that were HALF that size and been able to save them as PDFs (of course, the quality was almost completely gone by that point).
It's 2010. There are people out there who have been able to scan & save images as small PDFs (under 100 kb per sheet while retaining the quality of the scanned image) since at LEAST 2001. I fully believe that it's possible with the programs I have to accomplish such a goal, but I've exhausted almost every possible combination I can think of when it comes to scanning and Distiller settings.
Once again, here's what I have at my disposal...
An HP PSC 1210 All-in-one printer (has OCR technology)
Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5
Distiller 5 and Distiller 6
HP Director (a program for scanning and setting scanning parameters)
Jasc Paint shop pro 8 (also for scanning)

How to create a drag outline while using custom drag source.

I am creating a plugin using sdk for cs2 in windows. I need to create a text frame on the document when I drag a text widget from a panel. I am using a custom drag source controller for the same and not dragsource as I am performing more requirements. This does not create a drag outline region. There is a method called 'DoMakeDragOutlineRegion' in the Basicdragdrop example provided in sdk. But it does not draw any outline. Is there something missed out in this example or do I need to add anything more to this existing code? Any help would be appreciated.

The BasicDragDrop example is misleading and as you found leaves out the interesting parts. E.g. that drop feedback drawing which is of course not factorised for reuse. Good news though, you should only need to go that far for own flavors (e.g. drop a color from color panel).
Unless you give more details on those "requirements" you better make the best out of a target flavor helper.
If you need custom drawing, search the SDK for keywords like ISprite, ITracker, HitTest ...

How do I print the black and white Outline view only? I pasted the Outline to a new layer, hid all other layers, but the color Preview view still printed.

You've probably got your stroke and fill both set to none or to.... enable at least one of them... in a colour other than white

RootUIElementContainer not displaying in outline view

I am using EP 7.0 and NW04s.My problem is, once I am developing the webdynpro application, I created the necessary actions, Go and Back, the structure of my project is currently displayed in the Web Dynpro Explorer even thou the RootUIElementContainer in the Outline view is not displaying. So, I am not able to design the layout for the StartView or Resultview.Can any body give the solution to resolve this problem.

Hi,
After opening NWDS in Webdynpro explorer. Go to Window-> show view and select outline.
you will get the outline editor where you can desing the layout for the views.

Can I set it to have no bullet/blue icon for first line on Outline view?

Goodgrief... After finally figuring out (kind-of) how to place my bullet points with hotkeys, 6 hours later I have iWork 09 with a great outline view! HA!
Outline will be great if it is customizable. I need the first line to be set at a "normal" margin, and then from there on the tab is increased indents and bullets.
How can I set it so that when I "shift-tab" enough it returns to the left margin and remains, with procedeing "enter" clicks, and the outline/bullets begin with the FIRST TAB indent?

Hi, we're mixing two different ideas I had. The first idea was to hide certain columns automatically in the same table when I entered print view. The second idea was to create a second table on a separate sheet that automatically replicated the values in the columns from the first table, I just wouldn't make columns for the things I wanted to hide.
Problem was, with the second idea, I only want to use as many rows as is needed for each quote. I'd like to start each table with just one row, and each time I add a row in the first table, I'd like the second table to automatically add a row.
This isn't really a crisis (I could just make the second table with 100 rows and delete the unused ones), but my technically-challenged boss is using it, and it would be nice if it worked exactly the way our FileMaker system works.

You cannot create your own Excise Invoice Document type but you can create a Sub Transaction type and assign it while creating Excise Invoice to differentiate and pass the values to a different GL.

Building an online resource for to users to create there own accounts

Hey,
I am building a wiki for my school. I would love to have a webpage students could use to create their own accounts. I am happy to switch which groups they belong to, but I would like the main account creation to be remote. I am wondering how difficult this is, and what technologies are needed to do it. The ultimate goal would be able to create this database in such a way where we can share the same database information (same user names and contact info) with FileMaker, though set one for us is just online entry into the open directory.

It's not an easy question to answer. So many other variables.
Mac or PC, high speed cable versus lower connection speeds. Network traffic and the speed of your server also play a big part in your visitors experience.
Add to those your desire to play back a file type that requires the viewer to have a very fast computer. I'd guess that less than a third of the computers in use can properly play most HD files (even the small sized ones).
Your Mac is a monster! What you view on it isn't close to what I would see on my Mac mini.
I would suggest you first figure out a display size of your file. Think small.
I (personally) would avoid H.264 unless you know your target audience would only be using "high end" equipment. Hard to pick your audience for a Web based file.
There are html "tricks" that can change the display size of your source movie. If you used a 480X360 (4:3 aspect) source you could "bump up" the display to 800X600 without too much loss in visual quality. Those "tags" are scale="tofit" and the to fit size is your height and width used in the html code (not the source file). Saves bandwidth and gives a better user experience.
Since your file will be "downloaded" (not streamed) you could instruct your visitors to do some other work while your file downloads. Neck stretches, clean their monitor or pour another cup of coffee.
If your goal is HD your visitors must know that these files are huge and that they take a very modern computer with plenty of horsepower.
Your only other option is to reduce the file to more "standard" definition.

Trigger on SYS owned tables/views

Hello DBA's,
I need to achive something.. for which I have to write a trigger on SYS owned tables/views.
My question is, IS IT POSSIBLE TO WRITE A TRIGGER ON SYS OWNED OBJECTS?. If so please provide me simple example.
Depending on the value which will be inserted or updated into to this sys.views/sys.tables, I have to submit "job" which will inturn does some operation depending on the "value" which was inserted or updated on this view/table.

I will give some simple example...
User-1 is created procedure... it will be in valid state.. after some time this procedure will be invalidated...(due to some other procedure creation, etc)..
Stage1, during successful creation of procedure the status will be VALID (in DBA_OBJECTS)
Stage2, the status will be INVALID..
I need to write a trigger for this status change in dba_objects.. The status change will be caused due to some other operation..
Is it possible to write a trigger at the point of status change? if so how?.
This is the simple example I have remembered.
