Creating apex instance administrator

Hi all,
Is it possible to create other APEX instance administrator?
Thanks

  • Runtime environment for the production apex instance

    My first goal is to export a full application from a full development environment to a runtime environment.
    The two environments are on dedicated servers.
    From Oracle Application Express documentation and Oracle Application Express Forum, I realized that to install an exported application into a runtime installation, you must:
    1) Export the workspace from the Application Express instance where the application was developed. The export file created contains information about the workspace, all the users in the workspace, and any groups in the workspace (if applicable).
    2) Use SQL*Plus to import your workspace in to the runtime environment.
    3) Export and then import your application (with Supporting Objects) using SQLPlus in to the runtime environment. The related files
    This means that to be able to import an application via SQL*Plus from a development environment to a runtime environment, the workspace must exist (with the identical workspace ID) in the runtime environment. And the best way to ensure that the workspace IDs are the same is to export the workspace from the development apex instance and import it into the runtime apex instance.
    Also, you can't change the application ID through SQL*Plus - so if you're importing the application via SQL*Plus, either a) that application ID can't exist, or b) if it does exist, it will be overwritten by the import (of course, in case b we don't export/import also supporting objects).
    I know that there are some tricks, like editing the application export file just to import into a workspace with a different ID in the production runtime environment. But i wuold like to be official supported ;)
    So in my case i think i could, for the first export/import:
    1) Convert the production apex instance from runtime environment into a full development environment.
    2) Export the workspace from the development instance using the apex administration services (in a text file).
    3) Import the exported workspace into the production instance using the text file created and SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    FOR THE NEXT POINT 4 I ASSUME THAT EXPORTING/IMPORTING A WORKSPACE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SCHEMAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORKSPACE.
    4)
    a1) Create a new schema for the supporting objects of applications in the production instance with a DBA tool.
    a2) Assign the schema created in the production instance to the workspace imported from the development instance, using the apex administration services.
    or, if you want apex creating the schema for the supporting objects of applications:
    4)
    b1) Create a new workspace (with a new schema) in the production instance using the apex administration services.
    b2) Delete the workspace created in the production instance: the schema will not be removed.
    b3) Assign the schema created to the workspace imported from the development instance.
    5) Delete the users and eventually the groups in the imported workspace in the production instance, using the apex administration services.
    6) Change the name of the imported workspace in the production instance, using the apex administration services.
    7) Convert the production apex instance from full development environment to runtime environment.
    8) Export the application (with supporting objects) from development instance, using the export page.
    9) Import the application (with supporting objects) to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    10) Export all associated files (related files) of the application (CSS, Images, Themes, ...) from developmente instance, using the tabs located at the top of the export page.
    11) Import the related files to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    So, for next the next releases of the application i can again export the full application:
    1) Export the application (without supporting objects) from development instance, using the export page.
    2) Import the application (without supporting objects) to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    3) Export all updated associated files (related files) of the application (CSS, Images, Themes, ...) from developmente instance, using the tabs located at the top of the export page.
    4) Import the exported related files to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    or i can export and import single pages of the application.
    Excuse me for the long introduction, but the question is:
    what i have written is correct? Please let me know also your advice.
    Thanks a lot.
    Silvio

    HI,
    Thanks for responding.
    Should the APEX_ADMIN be available in a runtime environment?
    If so, we have missed a step in our installation.

  • Using a Single HTTP Server for Multiple APEX Instances

    Our company's DBA Manager has asked if it would be possible to externalize the HTTP server portion of APEX from the DB Servers. In other words, he would strongly prefer that the DB Servers *only* run Oracle Database software.
    We know that we can install the HTTP server on another box but, in thinking about how to do this, we were wondering if it is really necessary to create a separate HTTP server installation for each APEX instance. What we'd really like to do is have one HTTP server for all our our Dev boxes and several (but, not one to one) for each of our upper environments; staging, qa, prod, etc.
    Right now, each instance have a single dads.conf file on each DB box. So, if we we're to attempt to consolidate them, we'd need some way to embed multiple dads files and to associate each instance with the correct one.
    Has anyone ever done this or (preferably) have some examples?
    Thanks,
    -Joe

    Joe,
    I don´t know a specific reference for it, I remembered it because when I was looking the documentation on the site, I saw the reference "Support for multiple database connections" in the URL: APEX Listener New Features 2.0</title><meta name="Title" content="APEX Listener New Features 2.0…
    I´ve tried to use APEX listener some time ago, but in a earlier version together with glassfish. So, since for me was only one database, I created the necessary amount of DAD´s on my database, each one for a specific port.
    Check the link and you´ll see the same information I saw.
    Thanks.

  • Is it possible to create APEX user in background?

    Hi experts,
    I have a page to create new user with the following items in an application:
    P1_USER_ID
    P1_EMAIL
    P1_PASSWORD
    It is using Automatic Row Processing (DML) to insert these to PEOPLE table.
    When submit it above in the same time, I would like to create APEX's user using the values which are specified on it above.
    I think that I can use APEX_UTIL.CREATE_USER, but the user who log into the current application with APEX authentication does not have admin privilege. I guess that the operation might fail. Correct?
    Or, is it possible to create APEX user without admin privs if it is background?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rui

    Hello,
    >> but the user who log into the current application with APEX authentication does not have admin privilege. I guess that the operation might fail. Correct?
    Yes, correct. To execute APEX_UTIL.CREATE_USER, the current user must have administrative privileges - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/appdev.310/e10499/api.htm#BABCFBGG .
    >> Or, is it possible to create APEX user without admin privs if it is background?
    I don’t see the relevance of a background process, in this context. The admin privileges demand is there to prevent un-authorized users to open new users, without any control. It seems to me like a recipe for chaos to allow every user to define new users in the application.

  • Able to create new instances in Platform Edition 9.0?

    According to the Platform Edition 9.0 docs http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3662/6n5s9hmtq?a=view , it is possible to create new instances using create-instance command.
    However, I encountered an invalid command error in asadmin when trying to invoke create-instance:
    bash$ ./asadmin
    Use "exit" to exit and "help" for online help.
    asadmin> create-instance
    CLI147 Invalid command, create-instance
    asadmin>I am using Application Server Platform Edition 9.0_01 (build b14)
    SO, are we really able to create new instances in PE 9.0? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi there !
    I don't belive of can perform these tasks on PE.
    The concepts of nodeagents , clusters and other are no present on the Platform edition.
    I also see no way of managing these new instances on the administration console, so ... my guess is it can be done

  • How to create an instance

    Hi all,
    Actually, I want to create an instance without priting or sending to any destination.
    My code steps should be:
    1. logon
    2. get report object
    3. set parameters information
    4. create an instance / schedule report
    once I create all instances for different reports, then I need to read all created instance objects (report with data populated) and sent to printer.
    Is this possible? If possible, please suggest how to proceed further.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    here is a general code sample - you may need to modify it.
    <%
    IEnterpriseSession oEnterpriseSession = null;
    IInfoStore oInfoStore = null;
    String username = "administrator";
    String password = "<password>";
    String cmsname = "<cmsname>";
    String authType = "secEnterprise";
    String reportName = "<reportname>";
         oEnterpriseSession = CrystalEnterprise.getSessionMgr().logon(username, password, cmsname, authType);
         oInfoStore = (IInfoStore)oEnterpriseSession.getService("","InfoStore");
         String query =      "select top 1 * from ci_infoobjects where si_name='" + reportName + "' and si_instance=0";
         IInfoObjects reports = oInfoStore.query(query);
         IReport report = (IReport) reports.get(0);
         ISchedulingInfo schedInfo = report.getSchedulingInfo();
         schedInfo.setRightNow(true);
         schedInfo.setType(CeScheduleType.ONCE);
         // schedule the report to default destination.
         oInfoStore.schedule(reports);
         // retrieve report instance. You may have do this multiple times if the report is still in process.
         query = "select top 1 * from ci_infoobjects where si_name='" + reportName + "' and si_instance=1 order by si_creation_time desc";
         IInfoObjects instances = oInfoStore.query(query);

  • What is the apex internal administration credentials

    dear all
    i have installed oracle xe 11g and i have loged in on storage and apex tabs and i have created workspace and users.
    now i would like to access apex internal administration. i need to configure email server ip there
    can anyone help me with this.
    thanks in advance
    Uday

    Hi Uday,
    that's no problem. You'll find a script named apxchpwd.sql in the apex directory of your XE installation path (e.g. +/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/apex+ on Linux).
    Change to that directory, start sqlplus as sysdba and run the script to reset the password.
    Note that you'll have to set the environment properly to be able to run sqlplus. You can do that by sourcing the oracle_env.sh
    . /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/oracle_env.sh
    cd /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/apex
    sqlplus sys@XE as sysdba
    (enter login data)
    @apxchpwd.sql
    (enter new password)
    exitAfterwards you should be able to login using the new password.

  • Using only one APEX instance

    Hi,
    Several time ago I read an thread
    (see at Synonyms talking about the possibility of "centralize" all the applications of a company (at now deployed in several APEX instances) in a only APEX instance instance using dblinks/synonyms and creating manually the schemas (FLOWS_XXXXX).
    I'm interested in trying it, but I would like to know if somebody has tried it and its opinion about this "architecture".
    Thanks

    Yoel,
    you can also create additional RowSetIterators in ADF BC and bind the iterator to this name instead of using the default iterator
    In an example I created a secondary roswet iterator in teh AM
    public void createSecondIterator(){
    if (this.findViewObject("EmployeesView1").getRowSet().findRowSetIterator("SecondaryIterator")==null){
    RowSetIterator rsi = this.findViewObject("EmployeesView1").getRowSet().createRowSetIterator("SecondaryIterator");
    Then I created a page with a view based on this VO. I set the iterator as follows
    <iterator id="EmployeesView1SecondaryIterator" Binds="EmployeesView1"
    RangeSize="10" DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"
    RSIName="SecondaryIterator"/>

  • Two apex instances on one machine

    I am trying to create two apex instances using the embedded PL/SQL gateway on a single machine. I have two database instances up and running, one for development and one for production. I successfully installed apex 3.2.1 on the development instance, created some simple apps and everything seems to work as advertised, running from port 8080.
    I installed 3.2.1 on my other instance and everthing went fine until I had to create a way to connect. My
    select dbms_xdb.gethttpport from dual;
    returned zero, so I knew I had to set a port to wake up the network services on the instance. That's where I have my question. I cannot find out whether I need to use port 8080 and somehow separate my apex instances based on the DAD or if I should use a separate port for each instance. I tried setting the httpport to 8090 on the new install and my listener shows it active, but when I hit it, I cannot get a response with ~/apex/apex_admin - just a browser password dialog.
    The apex environment on the development install continues to work fine, responding to ~:8080/apex/apex_admin.
    I am guessing that I have a logical gap somewhere. Where can I read about how to manage this kind of setup?
    Thanks,
    Brandt

    Brandt:
    You want to check if a DAD named 'apex' is configured in the Oracle instance where you have the http port set to 8090.
    Login to this instance as the sys user and run this bit of pl/sql. It will display all DADS and their mappings
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON SIZE UNLIMITED
    DECLARE
      pths  DBMS_EPG.varchar2_table;
      dads DBMS_EPG.varchar2_table;
    BEGIN
      dbms_epg.get_dad_list(dads);
      for i in 1..dads.count loop
        DBMS_EPG.get_all_dad_mappings (
           dad_name => dads(i),
           paths    => pths);
        DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line('Mappings for DAD'|| dads(i));
        FOR j IN 1 .. pths.count LOOP
           DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line(pths(j));
        END LOOP;
    end loop;

  • Generate xml of a rpd created by OBIEE Administration 11

    I'm using this command "nqUDMLgen.exe -U Administrator -P Admin123 -R <location_to_rpd> -O <location_to_xml> -8" to generate xml for a rpd created by OBIEE Administration tool version 11. The error I get is "The repository <location_to_rpd> cannot be opened". But this works perfectly for a rpd created by version 10. I doubt in the username because the tools doesn't show the default username like that of version 10. What am I doing wrong?

    This works for me
    nqudmlgen.exe -P Admin123 -R C:\App11g\instances\instance3\bifoundation\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obis1\repository\SampleAppLite_BI0001.rpd -O one1.udml -8

  • Instance Administrator has quit. Need to give some privileges to dbobjects.

    Hi,
    Need some inputs on the below mentioned scenario:
    Our project is using TimesTen infrastructure. The configuration etc is all working fine. However, i need to give some additional privileges to the timesten db objects. But the problem is timesten installation was done by my colleague who has quit the organization. Therefore, i am not able to login as instance administrator to give privileges (such as CREATE ANY VIEW on the TimesTen table user).
    Request you to suggest what should be done in this case.
    TimesTen Version: 11g Release 2 (11.2.2)
    Thanks

    The 'instance administrator user' is actually the OS user who instaleld TimesTen. You need to log in to the OS as that user and then when you connect to the TimesTen datqabase you will have instance admin privilege. If you don't know th password for the OS user, ask your sysadmin to reset it to a new, known password or, if you have root privilege yoursel, just 'su -' to that user and off you go.
    If you are unable to access the OS user then I', afraid there is nothing that can be done...

  • APEX Listener Administration not really context-sensitive

    Hello APEX Listener Development Team,
    in {thread:id=2297381} a problem regarding the APEX Listener Administration has been discovered:
    Once logged in, e.g. into the view to be accessed by +/apex/listenerStatus+ with correct credentials, it doesn't matter which other view I call (tried both listenerAdmin and listenerConfigure ), I'll always get back to the view for listenerStatus . This even happens when I explicitly hit the "Close" button of the listenerStatus . I'd expect the following behaviour:
    1. When calling a different context (view), there should be a different Authentication Realm so the credentials supplied in the other context don't get resubmitted by the browser.
    2. When using the "Close" button, the Authentication should be reset. I know this might be difficult regarding different treatment of Basic Authentication in different browsers, but perhaps it would be possible to add a kind of session state into the authentication realm, so the browser would re-run the dialog for a different session.
    If further information is needed, I'll be glad to provide any help I can. If I have a wrong sight on this, please correct me.
    Thanks,
    -Udo
    P.S.: Of course, I'll have to make my report complete:
    APEX Listener 1.1.3 in Standalone Mode on JDK 1.6.0_27 using Firefox 3.6

    Kris,
         Yes it will use localhost based on what machine you are using.  So, you can either put in the real machine name or IP or just ignore the validation.

  • Creating an instance of a class from within another class

    I am trying to create an instance of MCQ in the T class but I am getting this error:
    File: E:\JAVA PROGRAMS\assignment 1\T.java [line: 15]
    Error: cannot find symbol
    symbol : class MCQ
    location: class T
    here are the two classes:
    // class T
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.lang.*;
    public class T{
    public T(String aT)
    pest = aT;
    public static T t_one()
    T aT = new T("Calculator");
    aT.addQ(new MCQ( " 2 + 2", "equals 4", "equals 5", "equals 0", " equals -2",
    "is a prime number", 1));
    return aT;
    private String pest;
    //class Q
    import java.awt.*;

    public abstract class Q{
    Vector q = new Vector();

    this.d = d;
    this.e = e;
    this.answer = answer;
    void addQ(Q aQ)
    q.addElement(new T(aT));
    I tried to make reference to MCQ by doing this in class T:
    MCC qT = new MCQ() ;
    but that presents a whole other set of problems.
    please help I think I have tried everything!

    Use code tags (http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting)
    Don't import java.lang.* . You get those automatically.
    Your MCQ class is really Q.MCQ (the way you posted, anyway).
    If Q weren't abstract, you could do:
    new Q().new MCQ(...)But, you can't create a Q without defining 'add'. You could do it anonymously, but that makes no sense. Put Q and MCQ in separate files and try again.

  • How to create multiple instances within same AS

    Ramesh,
    I have a unique problem. I might have to create B2B instances for 4 owners. As in BPEL, I can have separate domains for the 4 clients in the same instance; what is the equivalent in B2B?
    I have a limited number of CPUs and need to install the instances on the same box and hence trying to be creative yet secure here.
    Could you please provide some pointers.
    Thanks
    Shamik

    Hello Shamik,
    Please elaborate your use case. Is this just caters to user management or to really have different domain like bpel for four different users. Please see, b2b do not have the notion of BPEL domain, you might have to install multiple instances of B2B pointing to the same MR.

  • Can I create multiple instances of  realplayer plug-in in one jsp page?

    I want to play meny video files in one jsp web page, these video files are to be played with the embeded plug-in of realplayer, each plug-in was linked(use its SRC property) a different video file. But, to my surprise, when I press the play button, every player played the same video file,not its specified file.
    I have no idea why it did so and what can I do?
    Whether can I create multiple instances of realplayer plug-in in one jsp page, that is to say, each instance is independent of others?
    thanks in advance!

    Generally speaking, Internet Explorer tries not to launch multiple versions of a plug-in. So what's happening is that you load the first video clip, and then before it has a chance to play, you load the second video clip into the same window. (It's like changing songs in WMA.)
    In some cases - this may not work for Real Player, but it's worth trying - if you spawn a new window through a hypertext link and then launch the plug-in in that window, IE will treat it separately. Otherwise, you could not, for example, run two Macromedia Flash applications from different web sites at the same time.
    Keep in mind that only one program can access the soundcard at a time, so Real Player may purposely "pause" or "cancel" other video streams until the active one finishes. If you were using the desktop version, selecting another video by any means aborts the currently running video (i.e., RP won't let you create a separate instance of it).
    The easiest solution is to create a wrapper JSP file that takes the name of the video clip, and plays it. Call that JSP and specify that it should be opened in a new window via the TARGET keyword in the anchor tag. Then hopefully RP itself won't block a second window from running.
