Sharing ColdFusion Components (CFC)

I have several ColdFusion Components in a Flex Library Project which I would like to share with several Flex / FB projects. is there a practical way of being able to to this?
Right now I includ the CFCs directory in the 'Flex Build Path/Additional source folders outside the main source folder' of each project, this is OK except that Flex puts the CFC's in the root directory of the debug folder which becomes a mess. Does anyone know of a better way of doing it, so that I can share my CFC components in a well organized way and maybe put them in a folder like 'cfc_components'.
Any ideas, suggestions, or tips would be greatly apreciated!!!

You're quite right that you don't really share CFC's, I misused the word. I was hoping that I could've kept the CFC's in a library project and Flex (Ecclipse) would've been able to create links as it seems to do if you include their directory in the source path, but keep them in the same folder they're in and put them under the src folder instead of the root directory which is what it seems to do. I was hoping I had missed something and be able to do what I wanted to do.
The reason I was hoping to keep the CFC's in a library project is that eventually I want to shared them with others.
What I've been doing is put the CFCs in a main project application and the other applications, which are sub-modules, compile to the main applicaton's debug folder. clunky... messy... perhaps but it's been doing the work. Like I said I would like to find a way to shcare my CFC's without also sharing my main app's files.

How can I create UI components dynamically based on the result of WebService/HttpService call?

I would like to create child components of the component
based on a XML which is retrieved by WebService/HttpService call.
createChildren() is the one to be used to create components
dynamically. But if I use createChildren() and call a
WS/HttpService request in createChildren method, I can not get the
result of WS/HttpService request in createChildren().
It seems that the result event is processed later after
createChildren() is completed.
How can I implement my requirement?
I would appreciate any pointer or suggestion.

1) Use a List, with a custom itemRenderer
2) Use a Repeater (Probably easiest)
3) use Actionscript to addChild() components.

How to create "Business Components Package" in the Jdeveloper ?

Hi,
I installed and set up "Patch 7523554 10G Jdeveloper With OA Extension ARU for R12 RUP6"
I have ran out the test_fwktutorial.jsp and test_fwklabsolutions.jsp.
All links work properly on these pages.
I created HelloWorld page from "Oracle Application Framework Toolbox Tutorials".
Its works properly too.
Then I started to create "Search Page".
I created "Business Component project" in the toolbox.jws.
I was trying to perform step 2.1 "Create the BC4J Package for Client (UI) Objects".
But I didn't find "Business Components Package" in the context menu.
Could you give me advice how can I create package of this kind ?

I created "OA Workspace" and simultaneously with it created "Business Components Package" <yourname>.oracle.apps.ak.employee.
After this it i necessary to creates one more "Business Components Package" <yourname>.oracle.apps.ak.schema.server
I failed to create Package of this kind.
In the "BC4J Tutorial" It seems to me I found similr actions.
I suppose I may perform next step:

Steps to create software component,
1. Goto SLD --> Software catalog
2.select new product
3.Fill the Vendor, Name , version and choose create
4.now go back to the SLD main page and then choose software type as sofware component
5. select new component and in the next page select your product which you have created in the previous step
6.then give your vendor, name and version and choose create
7. now the sofware component is created, you can import the same in you integration repository for your scenario

there is an adf tutorial in oracle website, you can find it.
also you can try to run bc4j wizard at Jdeveloper.

Problems creating software components in SLD

Hi,
I am using NW2004s SP06.
While configuring NWDI, I was defining Product and Software components in the SLD.
1) I am unable to create products for SAP Systems in the catalog. Whenever I select a new product the message always says new product for non-SAP system.
2) I am unable to create software components for products for non SAP systems. Whenever I try adding new software components I get an error on the production state
Value not allowed by VALUEMAP for property SAP_SoftwareComponent.ProductionState:Released
This is the same error when I choose all the listed Production states: (Eg: Planned, Developed etc)
Please help

Tutorial about creating java components?

Is there a good tutorial on how to create java components for stellent?
I've followed the customization course at oracle's a few weeks ago but it didn't involved any java component. We learned to create components with idoc script and learned everything about resource files.
I know want to create a java component but i don't know where to start. I read te documentation about "Working with components" but it didn't help me much.

Error While Create Business Components From Tables Wizard -- need help asap

Hi , i have created a view and while create Business Components through wizard for that view i am getting following error.

CF8: Cluster session-based ColdFusion Components

Using CF8:
Is it possible to store ColdFusion components in the session
scope when using clustering and session failover?
Is it possible to replicate their state across a ColdFusion MX
cluster?
I remember that with cf6 and cf7 it wasn't possible (

I think that the CFC serialization is the answer: but I'm not sure.

Fireworks or Illustrator for creating web components

I just want to ask members who use Muse which program they use to create Web Components. For photos I use Photoshop CC, but I am not sure which program to use for web graphics. I know both programs have tools for creating web graphic, and that Fireworks is more designed to create web graphic, but which one is better Fireworks or Illustrator.
I am looking to trying to create some logos and maybe icons for my webpage, and as I am new to these programs I would like so opinion from you the members on which ones your use.

Ultimately I would say photoshop is your best bet. You can do the hard lines, shading and blending for this type of thing fairly easily in photoshop compared to illustrator if you know how. Most web comic artist I know who do their work in color usually use photoshop to produce exactly this type of look. For examples look at Katbox.net/laslindas or 2kinds.com

ColdFusion functions. This has been identified as a security
issue."
And because of this, he believes that he would have to either
not allow them or:
"Define a security Sandbox for each developer. The Sandbox
defines which components can be used and which cannot."
I have tried to read up on this issue over the past few days
but am just not finding the information that I need to address his
problems.
Any suggestions?

Your boss has no clue , your sys admin even less.
There is NOTHING you can do in CFC that you can't do in a
cfml page. CFC's
are more a logical division for the developer and offer no
more or less
security risk. By your boss/sys-admins logic, you shouldn't
even be using
CFML pages. If you can do damage to security with a CFC, then
you can also
do it with a standard page.
Ask your boss what particular function or action can be
performed in a CFC
that can't be performed in standard page. There are none. A
cfml page and
CFC are really the same thing (even compile down to the same
thing)
The only thing I can think of is that are being misled by the
word
'component' and are thinking more along the lines of MS
components that were
used with traditional ASP. Some of these components caused
security
concerns. But CFC's are not the same kind of component - this
is just an
unfortunate naming coincidence. They should just of called
them CF Objects
or CF Classes. Then your boss/sys-admin would never have
blinked an eye or
been concerned about using them.
Educate them.

How to developer add-ons to create UI components of Firefox for Android?

The NativeWindow object enables developers of Firefox for Android add-ons to create UI components.

Create new components for service desk

Hi All,
For Service Desk, to use it for non-SAP components, we are planning to create new Z* components. Can some one tell me how to do it? From reading through the messages, I can see that adding entries to tables - dswp_csncomp and dswpcsncomptxt should be able to create the components. When I tried going to SM30 and provided these table names, its not letting me maintain the tables. When i click Maintain, it gives me the message - "The called function with the view/table DSWPCSNCOMPTXT needs a special maintenance dialog which, however, either does not exist at all, or does not exist completely" - Can some one tell me how this can be done - please ?

Hi Jim,
It is sap hierarchy you can't edit it and the thread you are referring to
it is a development they have talked about which i have told you earlier itself but that will create a problem during upgrades and you need to test it everytime after upgrade so you need to check before to go for that development.
Secondly you can go for service desk XT license there is small variation and separate license to be taken and then you can use service desk for NON SAP problem
like printer not working etc

I am working on designing a RIA for my school district. I
update the main site while others update individual school web
pages. I want to make a ColdFusion CMS with pre-made Components
that these users can use to build their web pages. For example, if
I created a photo gallery and another person wanted to use it in
their site, is there a way for me to make a CMS that will include
the component in their page. Also, I would like many people to do
it without interfering with other people's pages. Is this
possible?

Hi there
Have you had a look at Sava - it seems to be a user friendly
ColdFusion
based CMS.
There are a few others out there as well.
