Creating complex canvasProxy

Hi,
I've got a simple set up based on the drap and drop help
examples. One main canvas forming the majority of the stage. Within
that I have a small canvas that contains an image and a label:
<mx:Canvas id="myCanvas" width="100" height="100"
x="100"
y="200"
mouseDown="doIconClick(event);">
<mx:Image id="img" height="60}" width="80"
source="assets/thumb.jpg" scaleContent="true"
horizontalCenter="0"/>
<mx:Label id="thumb_label" text="The Label"
fontWeight="bold" width="100%" textAlign="center" fontSize="10"
y="70" horizontalCenter="0"/>
</mx:Canvas>
in the doIconClick() function I have the standard canvasProxy
code from the help file (tweaked for colour):
var canvasProxy:Canvas = new Canvas();
canvasProxy.width=getScaleSize(100);
canvasProxy.height=getScaleSize(100);
canvasProxy.setStyle('backgroundColor', '#ff0000');
DragManager.doDrag(dragInitiator, ds, event, canvasProxy);
That just creates a semi-transparent red square that you see
when you start to drag the canvas around. What I obviously want is
to fake things so that it looks like you're dragging the image and
label, like you see if you were to drag the same thing out of a
horizontal list for example. I have a feeling I should be adding a
child somehow to the canvasProxy object for the image and label
element, but I'm pretty clueless on how to go about that if it's
even the right approach, or even if this is at all possible!
Thanks for any help,
Rob.

addChild it is then!
var canvasProxy:Canvas = new Canvas();
canvasProxy.width=100;
canvasProxy.height=100;
canvasProxy.horizontalScrollPolicy='off';
canvasProxy.verticalScrollPolicy='off';
var imageProxy:Image = new Image();
imageProxy.source = 'thumbnail.jpg;;
imageProxy.height=60;
imageProxy.width=80;
imageProxy.scaleContent=true;
imageProxy.setStyle('horizontalCenter','0');
canvasProxy.addChild(imageProxy);
var labelProxy:Label = new Label();
labelProxy.text = 'The Label';
labelProxy.y = 70;
labelProxy.setStyle('fontWeight', 'bold');
labelProxy.setStyle('horizontalCenter','0');
labelProxy.setStyle('textAlign','center');
labelProxy.setStyle('fontSize', '10' );
canvasProxy.addChild(labelProxy);

  • Could You Create Complex App Using Only Swift If That's the Only Language You Know?

    Hi. If you've never really programmed, could you just learn Swift and still be able to create complex apps without learning Objective-C, C and the other C derivatives like Python and Java? Is Swift going to be enough coz' it's advertised to be able to create even an operating system it seems without needing to learn any other programming language.
    Thank you in advance.
    God bless, Matt. 16:18

    Yes. Swift is a programming language but a higher level language than Objective-C. Get the iBook and take a look for yourself.

  • Creating Complex Math Formulas in IDCS4 (Mac)

    I have to create a 180 page Engineering handbook for a company, with LOTS of complex mathematic formulas. It also has a lot of engineering drawings, sketches, tables, etc. I'll use IDCS4 on a Mac platform, OSX 10.6.7. I also have Acrobat Pro, PS and Illustrator from the CS4 Suite. Their final deliverable will be a PDF, which the customer will make available for download, so I definitely want to convert text, images drawings, etc, to the smallest possible size.
    Unfortunately, my customer has no electronic documents to work with. My current plan is to scan the original printed book, clean up the scans in Photoshop, then use OCR in Acrobat to convert characters to text. I will probably export to RTF, DOC, TXT or some other format so I can import into IDCS4 and create an electronic version (suggestions welcome).
    Unfortunately, Acrobat OCR butchers the formulas and turns them into goobledegook. What plugins or programs are people using to create fairly complex mathematical formulas inside IDCS4? Can I do it inside IDCS4, or do I need to work in Word, Pages, or a dedicated mathematical formula program? I will need Greek symbols, integrals, differential equation capability, etc.
    My main concern at this time is the formulas, but I am open to any suggestions on converting scanned images to vectors, handling tables, and the best way to get my text content into IDCS4 with the least amount of time and effort.
    Thanks for your help.

  • App for creating complex and data-enclosed forms

    Hello guys,
    This may be a wrong place to ask this but hey i don't know where to go, so here goes:
    I'm looking for an app (OSX) with which i can create quite complex forms, and with that i mean the following example:
    Like in Acrobat Reader Pro you can create forms, you can leave some text that is considered basic text and non-changeable and some fields in which users can fill up their own data. Better yet i'm looking to allow the user to only fill in the particular fields with only a few options.
    For example: Let's say i want to create a mailing form in which the 'TO' field can only be filled up by a pop-up of selectable choices. I've seen this in some PDFs but i'm not sure Acrobat can do that. A friend of mine recommended SQL but that's a pain to install in OSX. So back to the example, when the user selects the TO field to fill up the destination of the letter, i would like to allow him to only fill up let's say one of 10 destinations (with complete address). So the 10 options pop-up in a menu from the field and he selects the destination and then the app does the rest by filling the street name, number etc...
    How can i do that? In what program?
    Thank you!
    Andrei Dica from Bucharest Romania (pround Apple user )

    Ok here is what i want to do:
    I want to simplify and optimize the work in my office. Most of the times we have to create reports or letters which share a common body text. That body text should remain unchanged but there are fields that i want to create to allow all the employees to fill up them depending on their needs. BUT not just fill up by typing because that would be the same as if it would have opened the document (.doc or .pages) delete and type what they want.
    I want to create fields but with options poping out of them when the user clicks on it. For example: let's say an employee wants to do a report about a company, and he already has the data in other documents about the company name, identification codes, address etc...Usually you work with multiple opened documents and copy/paste the required contents from one document to another. But i figured there has to be an easier way if a system can be implemented when the user can work on directly made templates for each task and type only the fields that need to be changed. I vision the process as a user completes some fields in a browser. When you type in the address bar of your browser "you" it automatically pops out a list of possible sites from which i can mention youtube.com and others. Now i understand that there has to be created a database first so that my employees and colleagues can fill 'from' but i'm willing to do that if on the long term it speeds up the work flow.
    Another example is body text that need to be changed only by two values (words) much like numeric values 1 and 0. For example yes or no. Click on the field, pops up yes or no option. Click on the desired option and you're done. Print it, email it and job well done.
    Is this a bit more clear about what i'm trying to achieve?

  • Create Complex Web Service using ADF BC Service Interface

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to create a number of web services with complex data types. The data types model a logical database entity and therefore contain multiple "rows" of data.
    In the most simple example, we have an entity Person and Person Address where 1 person and have multiple person addresses. We need to create a web service that encapsulates these entities and the relationship. For example the web service payload would contain:
    +<Person>+
    --<firstname/>
    --<lastname/>
    --<dob/>
    --<sx/>
    --<address>
    ----<line1/>
    ----<line2/>
    ----<postcode/>
    ----<country/>
    --</address>
    +</person>+
    We have created ADF BC components for each entity and the relationships. Now we are attempting to use the ADF BC Service Interface functionality to expose web service methods that would create and update the underlying VO/EO/Database tables with one call (i.e. create a record in table Person and one in Person Address).
    Creating a service interface for each entity VO works fine but we require a complex service encapsulating the logical entity of Person.
    Does anyone know if this is possible with ADF BC Service functionality? Or should we be looking for alternative method of generating these web services?
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    you're welcome st.
    js, as i mentioned above:
    i don't know any way to make it easy to understand how to
    control the displacementmap filter. but controlling the
    displacementmap filter can be done (check my website under
    snippets/displacement map where i repeatedly create new bitmaps
    that distort the text based on the position of a moving object.)
    because of my mathematics training i prefer to view the
    displacementmap filter as a normalized displacement. if you check
    the formula for how destination pixels are mapped from source
    pixels, it looks a lot like the normalization done for a variable
    that has a normal distribution where the mean is subtracted and
    that result is divided by the standard deviation.

  • How to properly create complex OCI objects (for Annotation Text)

    I am upgrading a tool that will upload text objects to a table with a ST_ANNOTATION_TEXT field. The app is a C++ app and I need to instantiate a ST_ANNOTATION_TEXT (using OCIObjectNew??). I actually have 2 questions. First, does anyone have an example of how to accomplish this? I seem to be unable to correctly create the annotation text type in C++ to be able to append to (calling OCICollAppend). Second, since ST_ANNOTATION_TEXT is a complex type (contains an array of annotation text elements), do I need to call OCIObjectNew on not only the main ST_ANNOTATION_TEXT type but also for the ST_ANNOTATIONTEXTELEMENT_ARRAY, ST_ANNOT_TEXTELEMENT_ARRAY, and the ST_ANNOTATIONTEXTELEMENT?
    I can't seem to find in info on this so hopefully someone else has been through this.

    user3068343 wrote:
    I am still having an issue where the sub objects are still NULL.Actually I was mistaken. I must have confused getting an Object from OCIObjectNew with using one of its constructor method in a statement.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci18nav004.htm#sthref3438 clearly state the object will have NULL attributes, unless the OCI_ATTR_OBJECT_NEWNOTNULL flag is set on the environment handle.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci11obj.htm#i446308 further tells you what the default value for the object members will be.
    An older 9i doc http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96594/adobjadv.htm#1008774 also warns about resetting the indicator struct member when you update a member of the object.
    user3068343 wrote:
    ++a) you allocate the object's top-level struct yourself (SDO_GEOMETRY in my case) in C+++
    Above you suggest creating the objects top-level struct myself. How do you create that top level object? I have been using OCIObjectNew on that object as well as its sub objects? Is that how you are creating the top-level object?This technique works only on binds, as objects you get back from defines are always allocated from the object cache. I create the top-level object directly on the stack... This is something I discovered worked, but is not documented, so you're probably on safer ground using OCIObjectNew instead.
    BTW, the reason I can't easily post OCI example code is that my code uses wrappers around the objects that hides most of the OCI:
    Geometry Geometry::make_point(OCIEnv* envhp, OCIError* errhp, float x, float y) {
        Geometry point_geom(envhp, errhp);
        point_geom.set_null(false);
        point_geom.gtype() = 2001;
        PointRef point = point_geom.point();
        point.set_null(false);
        point.x() = x;
        point.y() = y;
        return point_geom;
    }The above creates an 2D point-type SDO_GEOMETRY hidden inside the Geometry class, itself deriving from a GeometryRef class. The latter wraps a C++ API on top of the struct pointers for a SDO_GEOMETRY/SDO_GEOMETRY_ind, while Geometry actually composes the OTT generated value/indicator structs by value, and passes addresses to its nested structs to GeometryRef (its parent class). So GeometryRef can manipulate an object irrelevant of where it was allocated, the stack or the object cache. The Geometry class is a value class, but it's useful for binds only, and like I said uses a behavior which appears to work but is not explicitly documented.
    Unless you have nested objects by reference, nested objects are composed by value in the OTT-generated structs, so the space for all nested objects is already allocated after the first OCIObjectNew. But the members themselves are not initialized, and thus marked as null in the indicator struct.
    In the code above, my Geometry instance is fully allocated (on the stack), but fully uninitialized (the indicator is by default set to all nulls). I first set the atomic flag to non-null, then get the Ref wrapper around its nested SDOPOINT_TYPE to also set it to non-null, and fill in the x/y member (via another NumberRef wrapper, which knows about the member and the indicator for that member, and sets it as non-null when assigned to). Notice how how I return the instance by copy: My point geometry instance doesn't have a pointer-aliasing issue here, only because its two OCIColl* are null. In the general case, you can't copy my value wrappers without making a true deep copy... But I'm getting into the weeds here.
    The important point is that OCIObjectNew doesn't init the nested objects unlike what I stated earlier. Sorry for misleading you on that. I work on catalog images and I need to outline the product.
    I used to be able to create a path with very complex outlines.
    Recently though, I can outline a pitcher, for example, with an outline for the pitchen and handle,
    yet photoshop doesn't recognize the handle part of the outline.
    Is there a quick fix?

    Are you using the Pen Tool? That is the best way to make paths/selections of that sort. If this is what you are having the issue with, I suggest you try a tool reset:

  • APEX 2.1: Howto create Complex Charts?

    Hello
    i am using APEX 2.1 (10gXE). I want to create some more complex graphical Charts.
    I checked the OTN but there are only Charts referencing to one Table. I need to include Information which are stored in different table. I have some Informations which need to be analysed monthly for example.
    Is there any Tutorial in the I-Net?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Peter,
    There is no difference (except performance) if you create a chart series based on one
    table and the one you create based on a view (subquery fetching data from multiple
    tables). A chart requires three values:
    1. a link value (or NULL),
    2. a label and
    3. a value
    no matter how simple (or complex) the underlaying dataset is.

  • Creating complex folder from one Simple Folder

    I have one simple folder (test) which is like one large table in the database. I want to create 5 complex folders from this "TEST" folder and be able to create joins, drill, sorts, conditions etc., and also calculate some items to help users with what they want.
    I need to know how possible it is to do this and would I run into problems in future.
    Actually am I better off splitting the table in the database into five tables so that I would have five simple folders instead of One simple folder.
    I need an answer please.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    If your folder contains only 1 table then how you can create a join.If you wants this folder to split you can do what ever you want except joining from other table in a work book,
    better create a view at database and join the tables in that view then you can go ahead with the business area.
    (OR)
    take two tables in the business area and join them together but there should be constraints in both the tables.
    If your problem is not yet solved please give the detail question what actually you needs.

    But problem I am facing that I cannot give axis value 'LABEL' or define my own scale or draw any lines on chart or inshort plot graph as I need. Moreover no way to read objects on Chart. Hello FormsEleven,
    First of all very Thanks for reply. Thanks for your valuable time given to me.
    I don't have any error in my java/jinit console infact latest jinit is running and web browser start with message applet are being loaded and Oracle forms service installed successfully. All other forms details are very well displayed on browser form, only bean area remains empty. Following are my formsweb.cfg details. Note on below [bigraph] section I have commented some lines but that also done after my form did not work.
