Creating local interfaces with JDeveloper (release 2)

Hi
Maybe I'm missing something here, but how does one create a local- and a local-home interface with JDeveloper? It only seems to give me the option to create a remote- and a home interface.
I've tried creating the local interfaces by hand and then adding them as <ejb-local-ref> references in the ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor, but I get the message "local/local-home tag not supported in this version" when trying to test the code with the Embedded OC4J Server.
Now, I've managed to create EJB 2.0-style CMP entity beans by modifying the code and deployment descriptors a little, which made me believe that EJB 2.0 is supported, but that seems to be where it stops.
Am I doing something wrong, or is EJB 2.0 not fully implemented in the Embedded OC4J Server yet?
Hope you can help
Christof

JDeveloper 9.0.2 doesn't have support for local interfaces or any EJB 2.0 features.
Next release of JDeveloper (9.0.3) will have complete support of J2EE 1.3 features including EJB 2.0.
This release is slated for this summer (2002)

  • How to create Application Workspace with Jdeveloper 10g 1.3.2?

    Following the instructions in "Developing and Using ADF Faces Skins", I am trying to create an Application Workspace.
    The instruction says: "In JDeveloper, create a new Application workspace and name it - ADFFaces_skin_sample"
    I can not find the way to create Application workspace with Jdeveloper 10g 1.3.2.
    Because when I click FILE==>New I got "New Gallery--Application" in left, in right only got "Application, Empty project, File, Java Class, Java Interface". There is no "workspace" item.
    I try to use Jdeveloper 10g 1.3.1, got same result.
    I found other ADF Skin training samples. All of them asked to create Application Workspace. But the Jdeveloper version used by all those samples were earlier than 10g 10.1.3.2
    Please let know how to create "Application Workspace"?

    What used to be "Application Workspace" in 10.1.2 is "Application" in 10.1.3.2

  • Creating a portlet with JDeveloper

    Does anyone know of any documentation to help me create a portlet in JDeveloper 9.0.2.7.97 for deployment in production Oracle Portal 9.0.2.0.1 (I am assuming a OC4J of 9.0.2). All of the documentation that I find is IDE independent, but I need to know the right directory structure for JDeveloper. Thanks, Scott

    Chapter 5 in the Oracle Application Server Portal Developer's Guide [PDF] covers portlet creation in JDeveloper:
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/DOCTEAM/902DOC/904_DOC_BUILDING_PORTLETS/B13922_01.PDF
    You can download container and plugin from WSRP and JSR 168 Standards page on OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/standards.html
    Note that the addin for jdev 9.0.5.x covers both JSR168 and JPDK portlets.
    You don't have to download the JSR168 container if you just want to build JPDK portlets.

  • Create local view with Bex Analyzer 7.0

    Hi,
    with the Bex Analyzer 3.5 it was possible to create and use a local views based on a query in a workbook.
    With this "workaround" it was possible to create just one Query for different views and charts.
    Is there something similar in BI 7.0???
    I know there is a query view, but this is not what i want.
    Thx a lot.
    Br
    Mike

    I think the reference is to the BEx 3.x Change Query button. You had the option in a refreshed query or Workbook to Change Query Local View or global view.
    With Change Query Local View it was easier for a user with no global change authorizations to drag and drop, rearrange and change properties of their query results as needed. Then they could save locally as a workbook and each time they open it the personalized version can be refeshed as such, all without having to change original query.
    How do users do that in 7.0?

  • Create local account with no write access on mass computers?

    I'm running a bunch of iMacs (10.6.8 & 10.8.2) on a network managed by an Xserve (10.6.8) at a small university.  We recently purchased several Adobe suites and they apparently do not work when logged in with a  network account.  So, for at least a short term work-around, how do I easily create a local account on all the computers that does not have write priviledges to the local drives (or at least limited write--there my need to be some system folders that Adobe needs to write to locally, but not sure yet)?  I can use a network drive for saving projects (even though Adobe told me that wouldn't work...), I just don't want students to be able to manage, add/remove programs, or save their projects locally.

    Hello kikkos,
    Please take a look at the following articles about local Users and Groups.

  • Creating an interface with several video windows where a user can connect their own camera to window

    Hi,
    I posted this in the Flash Media Live encoder Forum and it may have been the wrong place to get an answer.
    currently I use the following workflow for Live video streaming.
    I have FMLE on a computer streaming the Video feed to my FMS.
    I currenlty use  Dreamweaver to create window with a few instances of a video window and one of the windows is configured to rtmp to my server and the stream name of the stream I have setup in FMLE.
    This then streams to one of the windows.
    I then assign a different Stream name to the other windows.
    I send an FMLE client to a user in the locations that want to have a video presence on the webpage.
    I send them instructions and running FMLE and the parameters to use to get their camera up and running.
    This works fine to a point.
    Most of the users are not technically minded and so often this leads to issues and delays to get these things to work.
    I want to move on and improve this flow.
    I want to create the video instances on the page where:
    Below each video window is a text input field where a user can type in their name which will be used as the stream name.
    Below each video window is a button that the user clicks to connect their camera automatically without having to install FMLE.
    Once the video feed is running, only that user can click the button again to disconnect it. ( The button changes to "Stop Broadcast" etc).
    I have looked at the structure of Ustream for example, and this seems to be the method they use as you can download the XML file of your channe,l and the RTMP URL and stream name can be copied and then used directly in FMLE and you can stream with more control of your camera that way.
    Can you please provide instructions or guidance on how to begin this process?
    thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for your interest in this kind of workflow.
    There are multiple ways to do it. Adobe Connect does this seamlessly.
    But to try out few of the latest technlogies, I recommend trying RTMFP. There is a hosted server where you can try out your sample client applications. There is also client application made similar to what you are looking for.

  • Creating a simple java client for a session EJB local interface

    Hi all
    Is it possible to create a simple java client for a session ejb local interface with JDeveloper.
    The problem is that it creates a test client for a remote interface only...
    i.e.
    MySessionEJB sessionEJB = context.lookup("MySessionEJB")
    and once i try to adjust it manually for the local interface...
    MySessionEJBLocal sessionEJB = (MySessionEJBLocal) context.lookup("MySessionEJBLocal") (MySessionEJBLocal - is the name of my local interface)
    it generates the exception:
    javax.naming.NotFoundException: SessionEJBLocal not found
    at...........................(RMIClientContext.java:52)
    There is still no problem with accessing the local interface object from the jsf project where i've added <ejb-local-ref> tag into the web.xml file.
    but i need the possibility of testing the simple java client for the local interface to test business methods wich should return objects without indirect properties
    Thanks in advance.
    Alex.

    Pedja thanks for reply.
    I still dont understand what is wrong with my example.
    The first peace of the code i wrote (getting the reference to the remote interface object) works pretty well, and even more it is produced automatically by JDeveloper, so why we cant get a reference to the local interface object the same way?
    Certanly we should use the local interface for getting access to the resource functioning under the same local jvm and i think it doesnt metter wich app server we really use wls or oas or others
    Thanks. Alex.

  • How to create a stand alone app with Jdeveloper?

    Hi,
    I have a created an application with JDeveloper using the ADF framework. It's a simple frontend to some database tables giving the user the possibility to create and update records.
    Is it possible to create a stand-alone application from JDeveloper without having to install any application server? I have tried to follow the documentation but somehow I only find descriptions of web enabled applications.
    That's not what I want. I want a (windows) application that can 'talk' to the database. Would be great to have just a .jar file to deploy to the users computer.
    Is this possible with JDeveloper? Or am I totally wrong?
    Thanks for any help!
    Bruno

    You don't need an OC4J.
    You just need to make sure the ADF libraries you are using are on the classpath of your application. (Your default JAR won't contain them).
    Have a look at the command line that JDeveloper uses to run your project (it is in the log file) - copy paste this into a command line and you should be able to run your code from outside JDeveloper.
    Read more on this in the online help under the deployment to JAR file chapter and possibly the webstart part.

  • Bc4j-oc4j and Jdeveloper Release Candidate

    I developed a bc4j application with Jdeveloper Release Candidate. In another pc I installed 9ias and bc4j-oc4j server. Then I deployed my application using .ear file. I get an error when I try to run the application through the as. Here is the error:
    oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException: Line # 18,
    Error: releasemode is not a property of oracle.jbo.html.jsp.datatags.ApplicationModuleTag
    I think it is not true that releasemode is not a property of ApplicationModule tag. Can anyone help me?
    thanks

    Hi, first of all thanks for your interest and sorry for my English.
    Actually I have tried some different combinations.
    First of all I downloaded 9ias v1.0.2.2 core form web-site. In it oc4j comes with version 1.0.2.2.1. I installed it and could not even get that error message. Then I installed bc4j runtime installer over it. Then I got that error message.(That message is just an example. I think not all of the necessary classes with correct versions are contained in the container.). Then I tried to use the oc4j that is embeded in the jdeveloper release candidate. I copied the directory and put to the proper place in the application server. It did not even start. Finally I downloaded 9ias Release2-j2eedeveloper's preview. It brougth me a version 9.0.2.0A. I was wery hopeful with it but it did not work either.
    I only want to deploy and use my jsp files that I created by jdeveloper release candidate. I need correct versions of application server and container I think.
    Thanks a lot.

  • How can i create a view with jdevlopper 10132

    hi,
    i want to know how to create a view with JDeveloper 10132.
    thanks

    Sorry, but I had to jump in here.
    7rouz - you've certainly violated the 10 commandments for posting here...
    Do you want to:
    1). Create a database view directly in the database
    2). Model a database view using the database modeller
    3). Create an ADF BC View Object
    4). Create some type of visual object (web page, Swing panel)
    5). something else.
    Your question is too ambiguous to yield an answer, unless by luck.
    Regards,
    John

  • Local interfaces documentation/examples

    i'm looking for good examples/documentation on using local interfaces
    with weblogic (6.1).
    i gave it a try and kept getting a class cast exception while trying to
    cast the ic.lookup result to the localhome interface. something tells
    me that some deployment descriptors weren't up to snuff perhaps. i'm
    using stateless session beans one main bean trying to call others. i'm
    also using xdoclet to generate all the interfaces, but not the
    deployment descriptors. i've reverted to using remote interfaces for
    the time being just to get it all working.
    one specific question that i've been getting mixed answers on. for
    ejb's to use local interfaces, do they need to be in the same jar/war?
    all our beans are deployed as one bean per jar file. makes for lots of
    descriptor files ;).
    thanks!

    i gave it a try and kept getting a class cast exception while trying to
    cast the ic.lookup result to the localhome interface. The best way to debug ClassCastExceptions is to print out the class name
    and loader of each class.
    Something like this:
    Object h = ic.lookup("fooHome")
    System.out.println("lookup returned "+h.getClass().getName());
    System.out.println("loaded by "+h.getClass().getClassLoader());
    System.out.println("Trying to cast into "
    +FooHome.class.getClassLoader());

    descriptor files ;).Personally I'm not a big fan of 1 ejb per jar file. You can make local
    calls between jars if they are packaged within the same ear.

  • Create Local Variable in Custom.pll

    Hi,
    I want to create and calling local variable in custom.pll. As i know, we can create local variable with personalization form. but i didn't find the way to create local variable in custom.pll.
    Is there any way to create local variable in custom.pll and calling that variable ?
    Thanks

    I think what you want is to create a GLOBAL variable, a LOCAL variable would be available to the Procedure/Function being executed.  But to create the local variable, you add it between the Function/Procedure declaration and the begin
    PROCEDURE abc(p_input    VARCHAR2);
      v_count       NUMBER := 0;
    BEGIN
    END;
    A GLOBAL reaches out past the execution of the proc defined in CUSTOM.pll.  You can simply type GLOBAL.<var_name> := <value>.
    BEGIN
      GLOBAL.xx_count := 0;
    END;
    Though I like the ability Personalizations give you of using Init Value vs. Value,  Init Value will assign a value if the variable does not exist ... and creates it.  Value just assigns a value.
    Some say you have do a COPY(value, NAME_IN('variable name')) instad of GLOBAL.<variable_name>, I have never had to use this.

  • Create local user via dropdown from .csv

    Hello
    i try to create a powershell script to create local users on Win7.
    All the user informations are stored in a .csv file.
    Now I'd like to have a dropdown-menu to choose which user should be created.
    So i want the first column of the csv displayed in the Dropdown.
    When a option gets choosen the script should read the rest of the information out of the .csv-file and create the user with it.
    i got some parts to create a dropdown and to create local users via .csv, but my limited powershell knowledge keeps me from putting it to one piece.

    Hi Yannick Hassler,
    To create local users with properties listed in a csv file, and also add the users to a local group, please refer to the script below:
    import-csv d:\3.csv | foreach{
    $server=[adsi]"WinNT://$env:computername"
    $user=$server.Create("User",$_.name)
    $user.SetPassword($_.password)
    $user.SetInfo()
    # add extra info
    $user.Put('Description',$_.description)
    $user.SetInfo()
    # add user to mandatory local group
    $group = $_.group
    $group=[adsi]"WinNT://$env:computername/$group"
    $group.Add($user.path)
    # add users to other groups
    Please also save your .csv file d:\3.csv like this :
    Name
    password
    group
    description
    TUTTLSX
    Password
    Users
    Test user
    annaretu
    Password
    Users
    Test user11
    I hope this helps.

  • Do I need to Create Primary Key Class for Entity beans with Local interface

    Do I need to Create Primary Key Class for Entity beans with Local interface?
    I have created my entity bean with the wizard in Sun One Studio and it does not create a primary key class for you.
    I thought that the primary key class was required. My key is made up of only one field.
    Anyone know the answer.
    Jim

    u dont need to create a primary key class for a entity bean.if ur table's primary key feild(int ,float) is a built in or primitive data type,then u dont need one.But if ur table has a primary key field which is non primitive (for example StudentID,ItemID etc)then u have to create a primary key class.
    hope this helps :-)
