Creating Nodes dynamically..

Hello All,
I have a business requirement that the data returned from a BAPI has to be split into sub-sets, and then displayed in seperate tables. I have identified a way to create the tables dynamically.
How do we create Context nodes on the fly (dynamically)? The requirement is that if the BAPI is returning 5 records, then I have to create 5 context nodes. Each of the node then can be attached to a table and displayed. The newly created 5 context nodes should have the same structure as the BAPI output (so that we can get a one-to-one mapping).
Thanks in advance,
PKS

  • Creating a Dynamic Node for a Dynamic Graphic - Tutorial

    Hi everyone,
    I'm sharing my first tutorial, hope it'll be helpful for you.
    In the Layout tab, it's possible to create an UI element "Business Graphic". It's a very simple tool that only requires a context node with a category attribute (that means, the values that will appear in the 'x' axis) and one or more series (each one with a color, generally a numerical value). It's possible to add a label for each series for better understanding of the Graphic.
    Although it's a very powerful tool, there are some problems when we must create a graphic with N series and different labels. If the graphic use an ALV or internal table to fetch data, during runtime we can have more or less series. The definition of a static node and generic series is not enough in this case. That's why I'd like to present you this little tutorial to create a dynamic node that fetchs a dynamic graph:
    In the WDDOINIT or Event Handler method that starts the application (once the data is available) we should create the dynamic node in the following way:
      DATA: lr_node_info    TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node_info,
                 lt_attributes      TYPE cl_abap_structdescr=>component_table,
                 attribute           LIKE LINE OF lt_attributes,
                 struct_type       TYPE REF TO cl_abap_structdescr,
                 lo_dyn_node    TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
    * Let's suppouse we can LOOP at the data table, so we can fetch the
    * category data type (for example company name, month, year, ...)
    * and each series with a numeric type
      attribute-name = 'CATEGORY'.
      attribute-type ?= cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'STRING' ).
      INSERT attribute INTO TABLE lt_attributes.
      attribute-name = 'SERIE1'.
      attribute-type ?= cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'I' ).
      INSERT attribute INTO TABLE lt_attributes.
      attribute-name = 'SERIE2'.
      attribute-type ?= cl_abap_datadescr=>describe_by_name( 'I' ).
      INSERT attribute INTO TABLE lt_attributes.
    * Once we have all the attributs for the node, we create a formal structure
      struct_type = cl_abap_structdescr=>create( lt_attributes ).
    * Now we can get the context information to add a new node
      lr_node_info = wd_context->get_node_info( ).
    * Create the node
      lr_node_info = lr_node_info->add_new_child_node(
                        name = 'GRPH_DYN'
                        IS_MANDATORY = ABAP_false
                        IS_MULTIPLE = ABAP_true
                        STATIC_ELEMENT_RTTI = struct_type
                        IS_STATIC = ABAP_false ).
    * Now we should populates the node, I'll create a hardcoded table,
    * simulating the internal table that you should already have
      TYPES: BEGIN OF tw_alv,
                        category  TYPE string,
                       SERIE1    TYPE i,
                       SERIE2    TYPE i,
                    END OF tw_alv.
      TYPES: tt_alv TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF tw_alv.
      DATA: lw_alv  TYPE tw_alv,
                  lt_alv   TYPE tt_alv.
      lw_alv-category = 'Alfa'.
      lw_alv-serie1   = 3.
      lw_alv-serie2   = 8.
      APPEND lw_alv TO lt_alv.
      lw_alv-category = 'Beta'.
      lw_alv-serie1   = 4.
      lw_alv-serie2   = 4.
      APPEND lw_alv TO lt_alv.
      lw_alv-category = 'Gamma'.
      lw_alv-serie1   = 1.
      lw_alv-serie2   = 3.
      APPEND lw_alv TO lt_alv.
    * Now let's call the recently created node and bind the lt_alv table.
    * Get node from context
      lo_dyn_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'GRPH_DYN' ).
    * Bind table with ALV Container
      CALL METHOD lo_dyn_node->bind_table
        EXPORTING
          new_items = lt_alv.
    * It's always good to check if the table was succesfully binded.
    * I refresh the lt_alv table and get the values from the node for controlling
      REFRESH lt_alv.
      lo_dyn_node->get_static_attributes_table( IMPORTING table = lt_alv ).
    There are other ways of adding a node structure in the method add_new_child_node, but it works for me only with STATIC_ELEMENT_RTTI. The node is now created and has the data required for the graphic. Now, we should go to WDDOONMODIFYVIEW, or save the target view as a parameter, to create the graphic, bind the category and series and show it on the screen.

    * Create the flow data for the new UI Element business graphic
      lr_flow = cl_wd_flow_data=>new_flow_data( element = lr_graph ).
    * Set graph in the root container from the Layout tab
      lr_container->add_child( lr_graph ).
    * Bind the category from the dynamic node to the dynamic graphic
      lr_cat = cl_wd_category=>new_category(
                      view = view
                      bind_description = 'GRPH_DYN.CATEGORY'
                      tooltip = 'Company Name' ).
      lr_graph->set_category( lr_cat ).
    * Bind the two series from the dynamic node to the dynamic graphic
      lr_series1 = cl_wd_simple_series=>new_simple_series(
                      bind_value = 'GRPH_DYN.SERIE1'
                      label = 'Sales'
                      view = view
                      tooltip = 'Average Sales' ).
      lr_graph->add_series( lr_series1 ).
      lr_series2 = cl_wd_simple_series=>new_simple_series(
                      bind_value = 'GRPH_DYN.SERIE2'
                      label = 'Purchases'
                      view = view
                      tooltip = 'Average Purchases' ).
      lr_graph->add_series( lr_series2 ).
    Finally we have created our business graphic. Test the application and you'll see something like the attached image.
    Hope you'll find it useful.

  • How get context value form a dynamic created node

    Hi all,
    I have build my own dynamic view. In this view I use also a dynamic created Node. When I have more rows in my Node I see every row with context of the last row of the dynamic Node.
    this is the source I use.
    for (int x = 0; x < dynTabNode.size(); x++)
      dynTabNode.setLeadSelection(x);
      IWDGroup group = (IWDGroup)view.getElement("Group_name");
      IWDAttributeInfo aiName = wdContext.getChildNode("DayNode", IWDNode.LEAD_SELECTION).getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Name");
      IWDCaption name = (IWDCaption) view.createElement(IWDCaption.class, null);
      name.bindText(aiName);
      group.addChild(name);
      for (int i = 8; i < 18; i++)
        int teller = i * 100;
        IWDGroup group1 = (IWDGroup)view.getElement("hour" + teller);
        for (int z = 0; z < 12; z++)
          IWDImage image = (IWDImage) view.createElement(IWDImage.class, "Image" + teller + "_" + x);
          image.setWidth("10");
          image.setHeight("24px");
          image.setBorder(0);
          IWDAttributeInfo att = dynTabNode.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("hour" + teller);
          image.bindSource(att);
          group1.addChild(image);
          teller = teller + 5;
    How can I read my Node row for row?

    The reason is that all these Caption UI elements are bound against the same context attribute. At runtime this will be resolved to the attribute value of the lead-selected node element. In this example you can fix this by not binding the "text" property but setting it to the attribute value of the iterated node element:
    for (int x = 0; x < dynTabNode.size(); x++)
      dynTabNode.setLeadSelection(x);
      IWDGroup group = (IWDGroup)view.getElement("Group_name");
      IWDCaption name = (IWDCaption) view.createElement(IWDCaption.class, null);
      IWDNode dayNode = wdContext.getChildNode("DayNode", IWDNode.LEAD_SELECTION);
      String text = (String) dayNode.getElementAt(x).getAttributeValue("Name");
      name.setText(text);
      IWDAttributeInfo aiName = dayNode.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Name");
      name.bindText(aiName);
      group.addChild(name);
    (I assume here that the node "DayNode" has the same size as dynTabNode. No idea if this assumption is correct)
    But this would not help for editable elements where you need to bind the edited property.

  • Creating context node dynamically in web dynpro for java

    Hi
    I am having requirement where user can ask for 3 tables . I have created tables dynamically. But now  i want that context node should also be created dynamically.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hello Saurabh,
    Refer the below link:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDJava/DynamicUIGeneration.
    There is a section Dynamically Building the Context. Please refer to that.
    There are lots of things available in SDN for the same.

  • Create Multiple dynamic Node in Web Dynpro Abap

    Hi Friends,
          I need your help.My object is to create Multiple dynamic dropdown UI element.I am able to create this dynamic Dropdown element. But i need to assign default different values to this dropdown elements.So i created dynamic nodes for each dropdown and created attribute with same name as that of value table.
       My issue is its giving me error as : -
    Lower-Level Node with Name ZDCN_BRD_STATUS.ME Does Not Exist
    Help me to rectify this error..
    Regards,
    Santosh

    Hi,
    This information is not enough for anybody to help you. Write more in detail about your code and where exactly in the code this error is coming.
    One trial experiment can be that you split your problem into two or more level.
    Create several nodes in your context with attribute and sample data.
    Create Dynamic UI (DDBI) and Bind these attributes to your DDBI.
    When it works perfectly, then tryout how to create the Node and attribute dynamically. This way you are not making it too complex to solve this problem.

  • Creating new nodes dynamically in message mapping

    Gurus,
    Source Structure is
    <Phone></Phone>
    <Phone></Phone>
    And I want to create target structure as for this Node1
    <Phones>
    <Phone1>Has value from first Phone Node in source</Phone1>
    <Phone2>Has value from second Phone Node in source</Phone2>
    </Phones>
    The requirement is that I want to create <Phone1><Phone2> .........<PhoneN> nodes dynamically based on the number of <Phone> nodes in Source Structure. The cardinality of  <Phone> node in Source is 0 to Unbound.
    Any suggestion ...?
    Thanking you all in advance.

    Hi Ivan,
    Since you have enter the xslt mapping in Message Interface mapping and both Message Interfaces (target and source) are tied with the message type. And in message type you have fixed schema, do you think it still possible to use xslt mapping to generate some of the target nodes dynamically (the nodes which are not part of MessageType/DataType)....thx?

  • Error when trying to create a Dynamic UI Element(DropDownByKey)

    Dear All,
    I am trying to create a Dynamic UI element(dropdownbykey) .
    I used the following code which i wrote in domodify:
    if (firstTime)
    IWDTransparentContainer thetransparent =(IWDTransparentContainer)view.getElement("AttributeDynamic_TransparentContainer");
    IWDNodeInfo node = wdContext.getNodeInfo().addChild(
      "DynamicNode",null,true,true,false,true,false,true,null,null,null);
                              IWDAttributeInfo attr1=node.addAttribute("attrib00","ddic:com.sap.dictionary.string");
    IWDAbstractDropDownByKey Sizedropdown=(IWDAbstractDropDownByKey)view.createElement(IWDAbstractDropDownByKey.class,null);
    Sizedropdown.bindSelectedKey(attr1);
    thetransparent.addChild(Sizedropdown);
    When i deployed it i got the following error:
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.CreationFailedException: Cannot create view element implementation com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.uielib.standard.api.IWDAbstractDropDownByKey
    Can anyone please help me in this regard.

  • Node - Dynamic Attributes

    Hi,
    I have a node 'CONF' with attribute ATNAM01. I used a ZSTRUC to create this node. Here my requirement is that based on user inputs I will execute a FM, I will get no of entries in my itab. I need to assign attributes based on itab entries to 'CONF' node dynamically ....
    Ex: ATNAM01, ATNAM02....ATNAMNN.
    Is it possible? How? Any code/link!
    Regards,
    Sateesh...

    Hi sateesh,
            Is your problem statement is some thing like this .Based on data in attribute ATNM01  you need to perform correpsonding treatment .
    DATA:
        node_check                          TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
        elem_check                          TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element,
        stru_check                          TYPE if_start_ior=>element_check ,
        item_check_attribute                LIKE stru_check-check_attribute.
    element = wd_context->get_lead_selection( ).
    index = wdevent->get_string( 'INDEX' ).
    navigate from <CONTEXT> to <CHECK> via lead selection
      node_check = wd_context->get_child_node( name =  if_start_ior=>wdctx_check ).
    get element via lead selection
      elem_check = node_check->get_element(  ).
    get single attribute
      elem_check->get_attribute(
        EXPORTING
          name =  `CHECK_ATTRIBUTE`
        IMPORTING
          value = item_check_attribute ).
    if index EQ 2.
    elem_check->set_attribute( name = 'CHECK_ATTRIBUTE' value = Abap_true ).
    endif.
    if index EQ 1.
    elem_check->set_attribute( name = 'CHECK_ATTRIBUTE' value = Abap_false ).
    endif.
    endmethod.
    Point I want make is based on data populated in attribute <b>check_attribute</b>
    .I have identified index of attribute and accordingly performed treatment.
    Hope this will help you .
    If yes give points.
    Cheers!

  • How to change icons of a JTree node dynamically

    Hi all!
    I want to change icon associated with a node dynamically ( i.e. after the tree has being displayed). How can i achieve this?
    Can any one provide me a sample code snippet.
    Thanks in advance
    Murali

    I have created CustomCellRenderer and i'm calling this class as follows
    tree.setCellRenderer((TreeCellRenderer) new CustomCellRenderer(true));
    The boolean value for the constructor (in this case it's true) will be set to
    a local variable in the CustomCellRenderer class. Then upon clicking a node in the tree the boolean value (true) is set and the icon for that node should be changed as specified in the CustomCellRenderer class.
    When i click on a node all the icons of that tree are disappearing.
    Can any one help me in this issue
