Creating rollover colors in fonts

Hi,  I'm new to CS5.  I've got 13 years on Hot Metal Pro V6.1 by SoftQuad, now out of business.  But, I've got one or two
"beginner" type questions.
I need to make a short line of font light up from white to orange when I mouse over it.
I've seen the video demo of how to do it in Ill or Photoshop, but was wondering if there is a better or quicker way than
going insert>insert objects>roll over Image.
Okay, I'm all out of stupid questions for the evening.
Thanks so much for you help.
Best Regards
Pat

Wow, that's a blast from the past. I remember beta testing Hot Metal back in the 90's.
CSS Links -- for best cross browser results keep styles in this order: a, link, visited, hover, active, focus.
a {text-decoration:none}
a:link {color: #000}
a:visited {color: #999}
a:hover,
a:active,
a:focus {color: orange; text-decoration:underline}

  • Alter css stylesheet to change rollover colors

    I know how to change the rollover colors for links that I've created myself using the inspector, than links/format tabs. But I'm customizing a blog using the notebook template, mostly because I liked the font that it used more than the other blogs. I'm not a big fan of the colors for the text and so I'd like to change the rollover text colors to #1f1a15 (normal) and 87595d (rollover). Is there come sort of stylesheet that I can alter so that the headline text for each entry on the blog home page (and in the archive) and the add a comment link at the end of each entry will match my color scheme?
    PS - I'd give you a link to the blog, but I can't publish it right now for some reason and I can't figure out what it is

    I don't think you can do it for blog pages and they don't take kindly to post publishing editing. I don't have a blog but all of the questions I've seen about modifying blogs were answered by those in the know as "No". You will lose your comments.
    Not if it's a new blog with no comments as yet you might be able to do it but if you had to ever make any changes to it via iWeb those rollover changes would be lost. I'd wait till one of those with experience with blog pages and changing css files respond to either confirm my post or shoot it down.

  • How do I change the color of font in a fillable form in Adobe Reader? How can I check if the writer of the document has given permission to edit color and not just add text?

    How do I change the color of font in a fillable form in Adobe Reader? How can I check if the writer of the document has given permission to edit color and not just add text? Please help! I'm technologically challenged.

    Most forms (99% or more) are created for simple text input, where you cannot change anything.
    The creator of the form could allow Rich Text input (which allows you to change font, text size, color, etc.), but frankly I have never seen such a form, and I wouldn't know how they look.  But I'm sure they would show some kind of controls to alter the text appearance.

  • Custom colors and fonts in in-context editor?

    I have added some custom colors and font families in our partner portal > online editor settings for a client site. When editing a page or web app item in the Manage tab of the admin console, I can see these colors and fonts in the editor. However, when going to the Edit tab (in context editing), and clicking on a block with ice:editable='html' I only see the standard fonts and colors.
    Does anyone know if this is a known issue? Or is there some workaround to get the custom colors and fonts into the in context editor?

    It's all type, and afew 3D shapes I created, but I noticed when they were printed out by the printer at work, everything was quite fuzzy. However this occured when I saw that 24 MB was way too much to e-mail through my works server. So at that point I decided to make everything into a .gif and place them into Indesign and PDF them, by doing that i completey reduced the quality and the size, so after it printed it was very pixailized on the edges, and the colors were a few tones off....
    I guess I just want to have the best of both worlds a small pdf and good quality...

    Hi. I've added a new page to my iWeb '08 version 2.0.4 website, but can't seem to select the top menu items to make a rollover color change. I can select them on the original pages. What am I forgetting to do?

    Old Toad has a tutorial about changing the colors in the iWeb default menu...

  • Rollover color?

    I have a flash menu that isn't made with buttons, but with one tween and it has a glow effect on rollover, it also expands. Is there any way to change the color of the text when it's rolled over (like it expands and glows). Here's the code for the rollover:
    import flash.filters.GlowFilter;
    import mx.transitions.Tween;
    import mx.transitions.easing.*;
    // Creates a variable with info about the Filter settings
    var myGlowFilter = new GlowFilter (0xFFFFFF, 2, 15, 15, 6, 100, false, false);
    this.onRollOver = function()
        this.filters = [myGlowFilter];
        this.gotoAndPlay(2)
    this.onRollOut = function()
        this.filters = null
        this.gotoAndPlay(11)
    this.onRelease = function()
        //Action code
    Thank

    I guess I should have put that I am relatively new to flash and this basic menu was made by someone else. I don't know how to write a textformat instance.  Can you tell me how?
    Actually, from what I'm discovering, this menu was made in a very weird way, it wasn't done with individual mc buttons, but all in one tween.
    the script in frame 1 reads as this:
    btn1.btnName = "name1"
    btn2.btnName = "name2"
    btn3.btnName = "name3"
    btn4.btnName = "name4"
    btn5.btnName = "name5"
    btn6.btnName = "name6"
    btn7.btnName = "name7"
    btn8.btnName = "name8"
    btn9.btnName = "name9"
    and only 1 mc and one tween.
    So HOW...do I get these buttons to act independently from one another without having to re-create the whole menu? This is done in AS2.  I basically want to have the rollover color change and I'd also like to make it so that the image stays enlarged when the user clicks on it and the page changes....but the way I have it right now is embedded on each page....should this menu be put into the css and all pulled from the same source?
    Thanks a bunch!

  • Rollover Color Doesn't Cover Link Text Completely

    Hello,
    I created a rollover color for a link on my website. However, when I rollover it the color doesn't fully change. The initial color is white and the rollover color is #222 (or almost black). When rolling over, some of the edges of the words don't fully change color. I have attached a picture for better reference.
    Thanks so much!

    I'm not seeing what you describe ANYWHERE on the site. All the rollover links work with no discrepancies that I can see. I checked with Firefox 22 and Safari 6 on Mac OS X as well as IE 10 Win8, and IE 9 Win7.
    Could be a hardware issue on your system that's not rendering the  effect. I had an old e-machine that would turn double borders into a big fat single border because the onboard video couldn't render it properly.

  • Having trouble with cutomizing hyperlink rollover color, visited, etc...

    i can create a hyperlink, then when i go to "format" i see i have options to change the rollover color (visited, etc.) but when i try to change anything, nothing works... it's all greyed out... any thoughts...?

    The formatting only work if you're selecting text as your hyperlink. If you've selected something else the formatting will be grayed out. So make sure you've selected text before going to the Link pane.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Setting color and font

    I need a way to set the properties of a text box--color and
    font of the text inside it--upon an event, wether it's in the
    timeline or off a button release or even LoadMovie would work. Is
    this possible?
    woodbury

    Hi Firstodd,
    1. Try re-assigning the text after you set the format:
    blackjack.onPress = function() {
    var oldText=this._parent.field.text;
    var myFormat = new TextFormat();
    myFormat.font = "BlackJack";
    this._parent.field.setTextFormat(myFormat);
    this._parent.field.text=oldText;
    I haven't played around with the AS3.0 enough yet but I know
    that the
    2.0 one applies changes to new text so you need to add "new"
    text to the
    field by recopying the existing text. Basically...rewrite the
    text with
    the new format.
    2. Your formats are stored in the text field's format
    property. You can
    either keep a reference to the original format you created
    ('myFormat'
    above), or use:
    var myFormat=this._parent.field.getTextFormat();
    The text format has a variety of properties you can read such
    as font,
    size, color, and so on. Have a look at the TextFormat class
    reference in
    the Flash help. Most of these are completely optional so you
    can
    set/read whatever you want.
    About the text, you simply read or write to the field's text
    property
    like we did in example 1:
    this._parent.field.text="This is new text";
    var fieldText=this._parent.field.text;
    If you want the user to be able to input text into the field,
    make it an
    input field:
    this._parent.field.type='input';
    Otherwise, it's just dynamic:
    this._parent.field.type='dynamic';
    Do you want it selectable?
    this._parent.field.selectable=true;
    If it's tall enough to support multiple lines, do you want
    multiline
    support?
    this._parent.field.multiline=true;
    Automatic line wrapping on lines?
    this._parent.field.wordWrap=true;
    You can get even lower-level if you want. You can monitor
    what the user
    types character by character (assuming this is AS2.0):
    function onFieldChanged(fieldRef:TextField) {
    trace ('Field now has text: '+fieldRef.text);
    this._parent.field.onChanged=this.onFieldChanged;
    A field can also cut off if you exceed the available area.
    You can set
    auto-sizing so that the field adjusts itself to what you
    type:
    this._parent.field.autoSize='left';
    //Use 'center' to keep the text aligned to the center of the
    field, and
    'right' for right alignment.
    Dimensions of the typed text, in pixels, can be obtained
    through:
    this._parent.field.textWidth;
    and
    this._parent.field.textHeight;
    (You can get the dimensions of the field using _width and
    _height but
    this is the field size, including borders).
    Speaking of borders:
    this._parent.field.border=true;
    And background...
    this._parent.field.backgroundColor=0x00FF00; //green
    backrgound
    this._parent.field.background=true; //turn it on
    I could go on for pages...have a look at the TextField class
    to see
    everything else you can grab.
    The TextField class is the actual field...TextFormat is the
    optional
    format that's applied to the text.
    Hope that helps,
    patrick

  • Creating spot color in Illustrator CS4 js

    Hi,
    I need to create spot color in Illustrator CS4 with js, with assigned name and color values. Here what I have:
    myColor = myDoc.spots.add({name:"FOIL", colorValue:[10, 0, 100, 0]});
    But it comes out as process instead of spot and the color is not assigned.
    Thank you for your help.
    Yulia

    the add function has no parameters, you have to add them after
    addSpot ('FOIL', 10, 0, 100, 0);
    function addSpot(name, c, m, y, k) {
        try {
            swatch = app.activeDocument.swatches[name]; // if swatch exists....
            addSpot (name+='1', c, m, y, k); // ...add 1 to swatch name
        catch (e) {
            var newSpot = app.activeDocument.spots.add();
            newSpot.name = name;
            var newColor = new CMYKColor();
            newColor.cyan = c;
            newColor.magenta = m;
            newColor.yellow = y;
            newColor.black = k;
            newSpot.colorType = ColorModel.SPOT;
            newSpot.color = newColor;
            var newSpotColor = new SpotColor();
            newSpotColor.spot = newSpot;

  • Coloring a Font with a RGB etc. without adding the color to the document swatches.

    Is there a way of coloring a font with a RGB, Lab or CMYK color without adding the color to the document swatches.
    The only way I know is to add a color to the swatches or use one that already exists.
    like
       app.selection[0].characters[0].fillColor=document.colors.add({colorValue: [255, 53, 160], space: ColorSpace.RGB});}
    This has the undesired effect of cluttering up the swatches when using a lot of colors.
    any ideas?

    Good Morning Uwe!
    After 3am by me 2am by you
    I had tried the link and it did download but I have cs5 cs6 and cc but not cs5.5 and all the scripts worked on them may because of the file conversion.
    So it looks like the following summary is all correct
    All documents new contain
    Swatches (Black, Registration, Paper and None) the index order will be the order that the swatches appear in the swatches panel
    And colors in an alphabetical index order
    named color "A" first "Z" last and then the unnamed colors.
    A such all new documents colors[-1] will be an unnamed color which we can duplicated to produce other unnamed colors taking note that the duplication must be process and not spot colors.
    So far so good, (not for long )
    Unnamed colors are not read only so if we make a positive effort to remove them we can do that.
    while (app.activeDocument.colors[-1].name == "") app.activeDocument.colors[-1].remove()
    We now won't have any unnamed swatches to duplicate and will have to resort to John's tagged text file method in 3 above.
    If there were no unnamed swatches and we try to duplicate colors[-1] and it was a color like "Yellow" then it seem's to crash indesign.
    Anyway the below method should always work (for regular non tint etc. type colors).
    // optimized for easy of use but not efficiency !!!
    var doc = app.documents.add();
    var p = doc.pages[0];
    p.textFrames.add({contents: "RGB", geometricBounds: ["0mm", "0mm", "30mm", "30mm"], fillColor: addUnnamedColor([0, 0,255])}); // will be a RGB
    p.textFrames.add({contents: "RGB", geometricBounds: ["0mm", "30mm", "30mm", "60mm"], fillColor: addUnnamedColor([0, 255,0], 1666336578)}); // will be a RGB because of value

    p.textFrames.add({contents: "RGB", geometricBounds: ["0mm", "90mm", "30mm", "120mm"], fillColor: addUnnamedColor([84, 90,40],"r")}); // will be a RGB

    p.textFrames.add({contents: "Lab", geometricBounds: ["30mm", "30mm", "60mm", "60mm"], fillColor: addUnnamedColor([100, -128, 127], 1665941826)}); // will be a Lab because of value

                 var tempFile = new File (Folder (Folder.temp) + "/ " + (new Date).getTime() + ".txt");
                 tempFile.open('w');
                 tempFile.write(tagString);
                 tempFile.close();
                 var tempFrame = docToAddColor.pages[-1].textFrames.add();
                 $.sleep(250);
                 tempFrame.place(tempFile);
                 tempFrame.remove();
                 tempFile.remove();
             return docToAddColor.colors[-1];
        return newUnnamedColor;
    Shall apply the function to delete and replace swatch on the other thread at a more sane time

  • To create custom colors for exception

    Hi experts......
    I need to create custom colors for my report in order to set exceptions. Shades of red,yellow and green is just not enough for my client, they want to see blue as well when certain exception rises. Can someone please give me a hint as to how to implement that ...is it got to do st with the mime repository?
    Thnaks in advance!
    Tina

    Hi Tina,
    You can do this by formatting in the workbook. Run the query and in the workbook, on the BEx toolbar, there is a button for formatting. Select the exception cell whose color you want to change > in the Format button choos epatterns and select the color you would like. Once you have made the changes, save the workbook. The changes will remain in place the next time the user runs this workbook.

    I hired a commercial artist to create a color image for the cover of a self published book. I want a black and white image for the inside. The commercial artist has not responded to this request. How do I determine the format of the color image, I'm guessing it's Illustrator's formatting but I don't know. How can I find out if Illustrator will open the file and allow alterations? The image opens only in Apple's Pages software?

    rons,
    It seems that all you have is a raster image, presumable PNG24 or JPEG, in RGB.
    It may have been created as raster artwork in Photoshop, or it may have been created as vector artwork with the help of Illy, or as a mixture of vector and raster artwork in either application, or both combined.
    If you just need to have a raster representation in black and white based on the current colour image, you may try this, in a new RGB document (View>Smart Guides are your friends):
    1) File>Place the image (you may tick Link or untick and have it embedded);
    2) Create a rectangle with black fill (R = G = B = 0), at least as large as the image, and place it behind the image (you may ClickDrag with the Rectangle Tool between opposite corners, then Ctrl/Cmd+X+B);
    3) Select all and in the Transparnecy palette flyout click Make Opacity Mask with both Clip and Invert Mask ticked.
