Creating variable for display attribute

Hi
        I have a requirement where i have to give selection criteria for a display attribute. But how to create a variable for display attribute. Please help.
Thanks
Imran.

If you are in BI 7.0 version. You have to put the navigational attribute in either characteristic restriction (Filter) or default values section and then you will get the restriction option. Once restricted you can put
that char in where ever you want.

  • Creating variable for attribute

    Hi guys,
    Is it possible to create variable for an attribute. My requirement is that the user wants Serial # as one of the user selection criteria which is an attribute of system code equipment in Dimension material. If not, is there any other possible way to get it in user selection criteria when the report is run.
    Thanks in advance.

    you cant create a variable on attribute of a char.
    other work around is to make Serial # a navigational attribute both in the IO (system code equipment) and in the cube maintenance too. That way in the report the attribute will be available as any other char in the cube.

  • How to create variables for offsets?

    Hi BW Experts.
    I have a tricky one that has been posted before, but I couldn't get my head around a feasible answer just yet.
    My customer wants to be able to display his ageing AR report with different buckets, depending on the month.
    For example, if it's January he wants to see buckets for 1-30 days, 31-60 days, 61-90 days and 91 to 120 days.
    If it's February, he wants to see buckets for 1-28 days, 29-58 days, 59-88 days and 89-118 days.
    If it's March, he wants to see buckets for 1-30 days, 31-58 days, 59-88 days and 89-118 days,
    and so on.
    We have create a structure in the query, filtering the key figure 0DEB_CRE_LC by 0NETDUEDATE. We have a variable for 0NETDUEDATE as a starting date and use different offsets to get the buckets. However, the offsets need to be hard coded, preventing us the flexibility of choosing the days in the buckets.
    Is it possible to create variables for the offsets, so the user can choose the days for the buckets at the report run time?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Aline Passos.

    Hi Aline,
    as user is entering 0NETDUEDATE & he needs different buket for different months, which are more or less decided well in advance, I believe it cane be handled by User Exit varaibles which will draw value from the variable value you have entered & go backward.
    you will need to write the ABAP code with your logic to drive the correct user exit values.
    hope it helps
    regards
    VC

  • Search for display attributes in Web reporting

    Hello,
    When I execute a query in Excel, in the variable entry screen, I can search values for material, for example, using some display attributes as Colour or Size. I mean, I want to execute the report for materials whose colour is white. I can open the matchcode for Material, I select the value "white" for the Colour display attribute, and I get a list of all the materials with that colour. The report is executed for those materials.
    However, when I execute the same report using Web reporting, I don't have the display attributes in the selection screen, to restrict the material. Once the report is executed, in the Navigational block, if I filter the material, there is an option called "Search for display attributes activated", where I can restrict per Colour, but only for one value.
    I have two questions related to this topic:
    1) Is it possible to have the functionality "Search for display attributes activated" in the variable entry screen, for Web reports, in the same way it is available in the reporting via Excel?
    2) Is it possible to configure that functionality, in order to restrict several values for the display attribute at the same time (in my example, for Colours "white", "black" and "red" at the same time)?
    Thanks very much for your help
    Patricia

    Hi Patricia,
    Looks like you have some new navigational attribute requirements, don't you think? I'm sure that would solve your issue, though maybe you're trying to avoid using navigational attributes (it is usually said that using navigational attributes is slower).
    Maybe you can do a test on BEx to check if your query is considerably slower when filtering directly by material code (by filtering on the selection screen using display attributes) or using a navigational attribute.
    Match codes on web reporting have lost some functionalities compared to BEx (such as importing a list of values from a file, for instance).
    Regards,
    David.

  • How to create a group/list of check box variables for display in text field, in appended format

    I need to identify a series of single-response checkbox variables and display the ones selected (as a group) in a text field in an appended (comma, space) format. Last week, you provided a great little script for a similar need using List Box (multiple response) variables. This time I need to know how to formally identify the checkbox variables and, I presume, use a similar script to display the results in a comma, space format.
    You've been of great help.
    Thanks

    Here's the script adapted to this situation. It assumes there are ten check boxes named cb1, cb1, cb2, ...cb10.
    // Custom Calculate script for text field
    (function () {
        // Initialize the string
        var v, s = "";
        // Loop through the check boxes to build up a string
        for (var i = 1; i < 11; i++) {
            // Get the value of the current check box
            v = getField("cb" + i).value;
            if (v !== "Off") {
                if (s) s += ", ";  // Add a comma and a space if needed
                s += v;  // Add the selected value
        // Set this field value to the string
        event.value = s;
    You'll have to change the field name and starting/ending numbers to match your form.

    Could you pls suggest with your inputs?
    Thanks in advance..
    Regards
    Soujanya

    Hi Soujanya,
    One way is to make 0Division as navigational attribute for 0Material in transaction code RSD1.
    Once it is marked as navigational attribute goto infocube chane ->Navigational attribute and you should able to find 0Division there check the checkbox. and activate the info cube.
    Next time you login into Bex you should able to see the info object 0Division in the infoproviders tab.
    Hope that helps.

  • Regarding  currency translation for Display attribute(key figure)

    Hi Gurus,
    How can i do currency conversion for  MATERIAL COST(key figure) ,which is  Display Attribute  of MATERIAL...
    thanks advancely.......
    CHANDRA

    Hi,
    You can create the currency conversion type in the T code RSCURR.
    Here are the steps...
    1.     Transaction for creating currency translation type is RSCURR
    2.     Choose the Exchange rate, Source currency, Target Currency and the Time reference in the respective tabs.
    3.     In the query definition choose the Currency Conversion Key in the properties of the Key-figure.

  • Variable for navigational attribute affected fiscper input variable

    Dear Friends
    Initially, the query is having an input variable for fiscper. The query was able to run properly.
    When i add a input variable for a navigational attribute to the same query which is based on multiprovider, the fiscper input variable is no longer  seen.
    So, I removed the global filter for the navigational attribute and it is ok again.  I fixed a value for the navigational attribute at filter level is also fine.
    Please advise what could be the cause. Thank you so much.
    Best regards
    Bass

    Hi Bass,
    Again seems to be a strange issue, if you have two independent characteristic with two different input enabled variables then there is no reason for the variable to not to show up on selection screen.
    Once you add the new variable and save the query just make sure that you have earlier variable as it is and check the query properties popup and see the fiscper variable sequence in the variable list.

  • How to create variables for Characteristic Info-objects in Rows / Columns

    I want to create variables in abovementioned manner for COPA retraction in BPS, as COPA retraction does not recognise variables created in "filter" section of Bex. Can sumone advise , as I have tried all the possibilities of creating but failed to do so?

    Hi Ravi/All,
    Actually my problem will be solved if I am able to create variables in either Rows/Columns area of BeX.
    Variables are getting created easily in Filter section of BeX (but in COPA , it will not serve any purpose COPA retraction does not recognise contents of Filter/variables contained in the filter).
    In fact variables are getting created in Rows/Colums of Bex, but they are in the form of structures. (Again multiple structures (more than 1)  are not recognised in COPA retraction.

  • Creating Variable to display calweek for selection....

    Hi Experts,
    Can anyone tell me how to create a variable which will take my date input as calweek.
    The selection screen of the report should only view weekly report, by giving us an option of selecting any week.
    please help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The 1st column will display the count of Service Orders for the week that im going to select from the Selection Screen.
    Set one formula based on Service Orders and give result = Colunt in column.
    The 2nd Column will display the count of service orders from the 1st of that month till the last date of the Week that I have selected in from the selection screen.
    For this you may required some design changes in cube and need to wrire Customer Exit Code.

  • Creating Variable for prompt

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where i have to create a variable based on a specific requirement.
    A prompt is placed on the year field. Now two variables should be created
    1.The Sales Revenue of the year that is selected by the user, and
    2.The Sales Revenue of the previous year for the year that is selected by the user.
    Please Help
    Thanks and Regards,
    Raja.N

    Hi  Rohit,
    I practiced the same formulas on eFashion. I used [year], [sales revenue] objects and prompt with equal to condition
    Cyear =UserResponse("Enter Year:")
    Pyear =FormatNumber(ToNumber(UserResponse("Enter Year:"))-1 ; "####")
    Csales =[Sales revenue] Where ([Year]=[cyear])
    Psales =[Sales revenue] Where ([Year]=[pyear])
    I created the above 4 variables(all are measures), but i couldn't get the data for 'Psales'. You said, you practiced on eFashion and you got the result. Please let me know if i do any mistakes.
    Looking forward to your reply.................
    Thanks,
    Shahin.
