Creating view if you got SQL right?

Hi,
I've a table called branch with following columns:
branch id, branch name, location, company
Now I've to get following display: number of branchs location wise per company... in SQL I'd write following query:
select count(branch_id), location from branch where company_id = 'oracle' group by location;
Now I am trying similar thing in ADF view, I've two attributes in my view:
location - i select mapped to column or sql - and write following in expression - select location from branch where company_id = 'oracle' group by location
number of branches - i select mapped to column or sql - and write following in expression - select count(branch_id) from branch where company_id = 'oracle' group by location
However it gives error. Can anyone help how to create view if I've got my SQL right?
Thanks.

Just make a Expert mode VO (New View Object _>"Red_only Access through SQL Query") and put the following SQL -
select company_id,count(branch_id), location,branch_id from branch where company_id = 'oracle' group by location;And keep clicking next on the wizard ... your VO should get created with 4 fields ... CompanyId,Location,BranchId,CountBranchId (which you can rename if you want).
Run it in the AM you should see correct results ... You dont need to put specific SQLs in the attributes like what you are doing.

  • CREATE VIEW in ABAP (Open SQL or Native SQL)

    Hi all you experts!
    I want to create a VIEW in ABAP. I have created Table Views using ABAP Dictionary (in transaction SE11), I don't have any problem with them.
    But, what I need is to create a dynamic view, I mean, a view that can be created/replaced (or modified) at runtime. Is this possible with SAP Open SQL, I don't think so... that is why I tried to created using native SQL but it is not working.
    Here is the code:
      EXEC SQL.
        CREATE VIEW [ZMXRFIV_GLPCA]
          AS SELECT
             T1.GL_SIRID,
             T1.POPER,
             T1.RBUKRS,
             T1.RPRCTR,
             T1.RACCT,
             T1.HSL
          FROM
             GLPCA T1
          INNER JOIN
             SKA1 T2
          ON
             T1.RACCT = T2.SAKNR
          WHERE
            T1.RVERS      =  '000'
            AND T1.RYEAR  =  '2008'
            AND T1.KOKRS  =  'PI01'
            AND T2.KTOPL  =  'PI00'
            AND T2.XBILK  <> 'X'.
      ENDEXEC.
    I have tried using quotes (") for the view name, parenthesis and even using only the name but this make no difference.
    Do any of you experts have any idea?
    PS: After creating the view I need to do a SELECT INTO TABLE to that view and finally delete this view and continue working with the data on the internal table.

    Hi ,
    oh yes it is an object (well, how the database should handle it in any context if it wasn't)
    i.e. for ORACLE you would have several thousands of them:
    select count(*) from dba_objects where object_type ='VIEW'
    If you avoid some kind of foreground processing (i.e. pull the data over the network) and handle the processing inside the database it can improve somehow performance a little (i.e. using the retieved rows of the view to stuff into a database table directly). But his may not always possible...

    Folks,

  • Error Creating View on External Table

    I create my oracle directory connected as SYS as SYSDBA and grant read,write to public:
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY ER_ADMIN_DIR AS 'C:\win32app\ingr\ER\ER_Init\scripts';
    grant read,write on directory ER_ADMIN_DIR to public;
    I creat my external table from SYS to reside in another schema called DRTEST:
    CREATE TABLE DRTEST.SPEC_REQUIRED (TABLE_NAME VARCHAR2(100), COLUMN_NAME VARCHAR2(100))
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL (TYPE ORACLE_LOADER DEFAULT DIRECTORY ER_ADMIN_DIR
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    (RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    MISSING FIELD VALUES ARE NULL
    LOCATION ('atts_in_red.tx')
    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED ;
    I can select from the table and all is good at this point.
    However, I get an error when I try to create a view (in DRTEST from SYS) based on the external table.
    CREATE VIEW DRTEST.MYVIEW1 AS SELECT * FROM DRTEST.SPEC_REQUIRED;
    CREATE VIEW DRTEST.MYVIEW1 AS SELECT * FROM DRTEST.SPEC_REQUIRED
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-06564: object ER_ADMIN_DIR does not exist
    (note I'm still connected as SYS as SYSDBA here)
    I can create the view if I connect to DRTEST and run the exact same create view statement there. Is there something in Oracle that prevents me from doing this from the SYS account? I usually think of SYS as having the "Power of God to do all things".
    I have to create the external table and view on several schema's and I don't want the user to have to connect to each schema separately.
    Tina

    Tina,
    I think you are facing bug 2948123 (CREATE VIEW ON EXTERNAL TABLE ORA-6564). The workaround is to connect (in your case) as user DRTEST and then perform the CREATE VIEW statement (you tested this already). Or (according to the bug description) create the view under the SYS schema itself.

    Hoping for a prompt response.

    Hi ,
    creating views let you to test new columns(calculated or not ) new tables (you can merge several tables in one view) before applying the changes on the database .
    sure it stills not performer like a physical table but somtimes like in my case when you don't have full access on the database it stills the only solution that you have .

    If I run every line but the create (just execute the query) it runs fine. It also works fine in a PL/SQL procedure.SQL*Plus abhors a vacuum.
    The default in SQL*Plus is that you can not have a completely blank line (that is, a line containing only white space) in the middle of a SQL statement. (Blank lines are okay in PL/SQL, including SQL statements embedded in PL/SQL.)
    If you want some space between the end of the WITH clause and the beginning of the main query (or anywhere else, for that matter), you can put comments there. For example:
          ORDER BY T0.CARRIER_SHORT_NAME)
         select *
           from carriers c;Now that line isn't just whitespace; it has the comment sign, and that's enough for SQL*Plus.
    You can allow completely blank lines with the SQL*Plus command:
    SET   SQLBLANKLINES  ON

  • Creating Views with DI APIs DoQuery-Method in SQL 2005

    Hi @All,
    I've had the following (solved) problem:
    The DB installer of one of our AddOns is also creating a bunsh of views for our UDTs. The installer always executes the following two statements for each view:
    IF OBJECT_ID ('[dbo].[@NSP_EXAMPLE_VIEW]', 'V' ) IS NOT NULL
        DROP VIEW  [dbo].[@NSP_EXAMPLE_VIEW];
    CREATE VIEW [dbo].[@NSP_EXAMPLE_VIEW] AS
    SELECT
         T0.U_Field3,
         T1.U_Field1,
    FROM
         [dbo].[@NSP_A] T0 INNER JOIN
         [dbo].[@NSP_B] T1 ON
         T0.U_Key=T1.U_Key  AND
         T0.U_CostNo=T1.U_CostNo;
    This has worked fine for the first 3 views we need. Then came the 4th view and we get an exception from the doQuery. I had to change the SQL-2005 compatibility level back to 80 to create the 4th view because of an incompatible "FOR BROWSE"-statement.
    When it was created under level 80 I saw the problem: ONLY the 4th view was extended with the "FOR BROWSE"-Statement by DI-API. I didn't see any difference in the 4th VIEW-statement which could be the reason that only this one gets the "FOR BROWSE"
    Anyway! Big thanks to  John Mackin and the users of this thread:
    [Formatted search;
    Adding an SQL-comment "--FOR BROWSE" at the end of the VIEW-creation statement has solved the problem.
    (I hope the DI-API query parser will not change this behaviour in the future :-o )
    Cheers,
    Roland

    Thanks for the replies, but casting gave me the original 'General Error' as well.
    I tried to make a stored procedure out of it. I used this page as a guide:
    http://www.davidhayden.com/blog/dave/archive/2005/12/30/2652.aspx
    The stored procedure looks like this:
    set ANSI_NULLS ON
    set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
    go
    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[TestItems]
        @PageIndex INT,
        @PageSize INT
    AS
    BEGIN
    WITH tmpItems AS (
    SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY ItemCode DESC)AS Row, ItemCode, ItemName
    FROM OITM)
    SELECT ItemCode, ItemName
    FROM tmpItems
    WHERE Row between (@PageIndex - 1) * @PageSize + 1 and @PageIndex*@PageSize
    END
    I am able to call this stored procedure like this:
    exec TestItems 10, 10  -- (returns item 91 to 100).
    This solution meets my immediate requirements, but I don't like the fact that I added the stored procedure to the administration itself. Is it possible to add the stored procedure to a different database and still use the DI server?
    Thanks for your time!

  • Create view and alter Session gets 0RA-01031

    I can't create a view after using ALTER SESSION set current_schema without using an explicit schema. I get ORA-01031. Is this a known bug? Here are the details:
    1. Log on as SYSTEM
    2. ALTER SESSION set current_schema=FRED;
    3. CREATE VIEW vFoo as select * from Foo;     -- ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    4. CREATE VIEW FRED.vFoo as select * from Foo;     -- this works!
    I've read where some privileges need to be granted directly. In fact, if Fred grants select privilege on Foo to SYSTEM, the statement in #3 above works. However, something doesn't seem right because why does #4 succeed without the GRANT?
    In case you're wondering why I don't just use #4 above, which does work, it's because I've got a script that will be run by customers to create tables, views, etc. in an arbitrary schema and the schema is associated with a user with limited permissions. Hence, the use of the ALTER SESSION.

    See, You looged as SYSTEM (Scheme = SYSTEM)
    Now you alter your session to another schema FRED.
    Now if you want to access SCHEMA of FRED, You need to connect first.
    SQL > connect user/password@host
    Then
    SQL > CREATE VIEW vFoo as select * from Foo;
    View created.

  • A dynamic table based on run-time created view object -- please help!

    Hello!
    I'm trying to create a dynamic table based on an run-time created view object. All go ok, but table binding component take the first view/iterator state and don't reflect changes they have. Please, take a look:
    1. At run-time the view is being replaced by new red-only one based on query in application module:
    getQueryView().remove();
    createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("QueryView", statement);
    2. Page definition file contains an iterator (using iterator or methodIterator - doesn't matter) binding and table, which binds to the iterator, like:
    <methodIterator id="distributeQuery1Iter" Binds="distributeQuery1.result"
    DataControl="QueryServiceDataControl" RangeSize="10"/>
    <table id="distributeQuery11" IterBinding="distributeQuery1Iter"/>
    3. The page code uses <af:table>. But, if I use table binding (it's right) like this:
    <af:table var="row" value="#{bindings.distributeQuery11.collectionModel}">
    <af:forEach items="#{bindings.distributeQuery11.attributeDefs}" var="def">
    the table will never changed (i.e. still show the first view instance).
    When I tried to use iterator binding directly (it's bad and cannot provide all needed features unlike CollectionModel from table binding) I saw that table works!
    (Code is somehing like:
    <af:table var="row" value="#{bindings.myIterator.allRowsInRange}">
    <af:forEach items="#{bindings.myIterator.attributeDefs}" var="def">
    Why the table binding do not reflect changes in iterator? Or should I use different approach?
    Thanks in advance!
    Ilya.

    I got it to work! I used a hybrid approach comprised of some of your code and some of Steve Muench's AcceessAppModuleInBackingBean example.
    In the setBindings method, I execute an app module method that redefines the query, then I used your code to delete and recreate bindings and iterator:
    public void setBindingContainer(DCBindingContainer bc) {
    this.bindingContainer = bc;
    rebuildVO();
    The rebuildVO() method looks like the code you provided in your example:
    private void rebuildVO() {
    DCDataControl dc;
    DispatchAppModule dApp;
    DCBindingContainer bc;
    DCIteratorBinding it;
    OperationBinding operationBinding;
    ViewObject vo;
    DCControlBinding cb;
    try {
    bc = getBindingContainer();
    dc = bc.findDataControl(DATACONTROL);
    dApp = (DispatchAppModule)dc.getDataProvider();
    // Execute App Module Method to rebuild VO based upon new SQL Statement.
    dApp.setDispatchViewSQL();
    vo = dApp.findViewObject(DYNAMIC_VIEW_NAME);
    it = bc.findIteratorBinding(DYNAMIC_VO_ITER_NAME);
    it.bindRowSetIterator(vo, true);
    // logger.info("Remove value binding...");
    cb = bc.findCtrlBinding(DYNAMIC_VIEW_NAME);
    cb.getDCIteratorBinding().removeValueBinding(cb);
    bc.removeControlBinding(cb);
    // logger.info("Creating new value binding...");
    FacesCtrlRangeBinding dynamicRangeBinding =
    new FacesCtrlRangeBinding(null,
    bc.findIteratorBinding(DYNAMIC_VO_ITER_NAME), null);
    // logger.info("Add control binding...");
    bc.addControlBinding(DYNAMIC_VIEW_NAME, dynamicRangeBinding);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    And my App Module method that redefines the view object looks like this:
    public void setDispatchViewSQL() {
    String SQL =
    "begin ? := PK_BUsiNESS.F_GETDISPATCHVIEWSQL();end;";
    CallableStatement st = null;
    String ViewSQL = null;
    try {
    st = getDBTransaction().createCallableStatement(SQL,
    DBTransaction.DEFAULT);
    * Register the first bind parameter as our return value of type LONGVARCHAR
    st.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.LONGVARCHAR);
    st.execute();
    ViewSQL = ((OracleCallableStatement) st).getString(1);
    findViewObject(DYNAMIC_VO_NAME).remove();
    ViewObject vo = createViewObjectFromQueryStmt(DYNAMIC_VO_NAME, ViewSQL);
    vo.executeQuery();
    } catch (SQLException s) {
    throw new JboException(s);
    } finally {
    try {
    st.close();
    } catch (SQLException s) {
    s.printStackTrace();
    When I run it I get my desired results. One thing I don't quite understand is why when the page is first rendered it shows the last set of records rather than the first. Now I have to figure out how to put navigation URLS in each of the table cells.
    Thanks for your help; I would not have gotten this far without it,
    Jeff

  • How to Create a Temporary Table with SQL Server

    I know you can create a temporary table in SQL Server 2000, but not quite sure how to do it in CFMX 7, i.e., does the SQL go inside a <CFQUERY dbtype="query"> tag?
    I'm pulling the main set of records from an Oracle server (1st data source), but it does not contain employee names, only employee IDs.  Since I need to show the employee name along with the Emp ID, I'm then pulling a list of "current" employee names from a SQL Server (2nd data source), which is the main database on our CF server.
    I've got a QofQ that works fine, except it only matches EmpIDs that exist in both result sets.  Employees who are no longer employed, don't match, and don't display.  Since I can't do a LEFT OUTER JOIN with a QofQ, what I need to do is get the records from the Oracle server into the SQL Server.  Preferably in a temporary table.
    I was hoping if I could get those Oracle records written to a temp table on the main SQL Server, in same database as the Employee Name table, I could then write a normal <CFQUERY> that uses a LEFT OUTER JOIN.
    I think I could probably write a Stored Procedure that would execute the SQL to create the temporary table, but am trying to avoid having to write the SP, and do it the simplest way.
    This query will be a program that can be run hundreds of times per day, with a form that allows users to select date ranges, locations, and other options.  That starts the queries, which creates the report.  So I just need the temp table to exist only until all the SQL has run, and the <CFOUTPUT> has generated a report.
    If the premise is right, I just need some help with the syntax for creating a SQL Server temp table, when you want to write records to it from an external data source.  I'm trying the following, but getting an error:
    <CFQUERY name="ITE_Temp" datasource="SkynetSQL">
    CREATE TABLE #MyTemp
    (   INSERT INTO #MyTemp
    ITE2.TrueFile char (7) NOT NULL,
    ITE2.CountOfEmployee int NULL,
    ITE2.DTL_SUBTOT decimal NULL,
    ITE2.EMPTYPE char (3) NULL,
    ITE2.ARPT_CD char (3) NULL
    </CFQUERY>
    So I actually created a permanent table on the SQL Server, and wrote the below SQL, which does work, and does write the records to table.  I can then write another CFQUERY with a LEFT OUTER JOIN, and get all the records, including those that don't have matching employee name:
    <CFQUERY datasource="SkynetSQL">
    <CFLOOP index="i" from="1" to = "#ITE2.RecordCount#">
    INSERT INTO ITE_Temp
       (FullFile,
       EmployeeCount,
       DTL_Amount,
       EmployeeType,
       station)
    VALUES  ('#ITE2.TrueFile[i]#',
       #ITE2.CountOfEmployee[i]#,
       #ITE2.DTL_SUBTOT[i]#,
       '#ITE2.EMPTYPE[i]#',
       '#ITE2.ARPT_CD[i]#')
    </CFLOOP>
    </CFQUERY>
    But, I hate to have to create a table and physically write to it.  For one, it seems slower, and doing it in temp would be in memory, and probably much faster, correct?  Is there some way to code the above, so that it does something similar, but in a TEMPORARY TABLE?   If I can figure out how to do this, I can pull data from multiple data sources and servers, and using SQL Server temp tables, work with the data as if it was all on the same SQL Server, and do some cool reports.
    Everything I've done for the past few years, has all been from data from a single source, whether SQL Server, or another server.  Now I need to start writing reports where data can come from 3 or 4 different servers, and be able to do joins (inner and outer).  Thanks for any advice/help.  Much appreciated.
    Gary

    While waiting to hear back, I was able to write the query results from an outside Oracle server, to a table on the local SQL Server, and do the LEFT OUTER JOIN required for the final query and report to work.  That was with this syntax:
    <CFQUERY name="AddTableRecords" datasource="MyTable">
    TRUNCATE TABLE ITE_Temp
    <CFOUTPUT query="ITE2">
    INSERT INTO ITE_Temp
    (FullFile,EmployeeCount,DTL_Amount,EmployeeType,station)
    VALUES
    ('#TrueFile#', #CountOfEmployee#, #DTL_SUBTOT#, '#EMPTYPE#', '#ARPT_CD#')
    </CFOUTPUT>
    </CFQUERY>
    However, I was not able to write to a temporary table AND read the results. I got the syntax to run to write the above results to a temporary table.  But when I tried to read and output the results from the temp table, I got an error.  Also, it wouldn't take the single "#" (local) only the global "##" table var, using this syntax.  Note that if I didn't have the DROP TABLE in the beginning, the 2nd time you run this query, you get an error telling you the table already exists.
    <CFQUERY name="ITE_Temp2" datasource="MyTable">
    DROP TABLE ##MyTemp2
    CREATE TABLE ##MyTemp2
    FullFile char (7) NOT NULL,
    EmployeeCount int NULL,
    DTL_Amount decimal NULL,
    EmployeeType char (3) NULL,
    station char (3) NULL
    <CFOUTPUT query="ITE2">
    INSERT INTO ##MyTemp2 VALUES
    '#ITE2.TrueFile#',
    #ITE2.CountOfEmployee#,
    #ITE2.DTL_SUBTOT#,
    '#ITE2.EMPTYPE#',
    '#ITE2.ARPT_CD#'
    </CFOUTPUT>
    </CFQUERY>
    So even though the above works, I could use some help in reading/writing the output.  I've tried several things similar to below, but they don't work.  It't telling me ITE_Temp2 does not exist.  It's not easy to find good examples of creating temporary tables in SQL Server.
    <CFQUERY name="QueryTest2" datasource="SkynetSQL">
    SELECT *
    FROM ITE_Temp2
    </CFQUERY>
    <CFOUTPUT query="ITE_Temp2">
    Output from Temp Table<br>

    created SPN's for the SQL Server and domain user.
        While creating the web application I ran across some information
    that says if you use Kerberos Authentication you have to setup the SPN's
    in AD DS before you install Sharepoint 2013 Server.
        That doesn't make sense to me because it might be possible that
    SPN's may be needed to be created throughout the lifetime of the
    Sharepoint farm which could be forever.
        So the question is, is it true that you can only use Kerberos
    Authentication if you created the SPN's in AD DS first?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    You can create it after-the-fact, you just may have access issues until it is created and the user account running the pool is logged off and back on again. Right, it has nothing to do with the installation status of SharePoint.

  • Trouble Creating Views

    I'm not sure if this is a SQL Developer issue or a SQL issue, so if I'm in the wrong place, someone please let me know.
    Using SQL Developer 1.5.0.53, I'm trying to create a view. I've written my SQL for the view and I can run it in a SQL worksheet and it works just like I expect. So I go to my "Views" folder, right click and choose "New View" and enter the exact same SQL (without a semicolon at the end) that works in the SQL worksheet into the "SQL Query" window of the "Create View" dialog box. Then when I press the "Test Syntax" button I get the following error message
         The SQL syntax is valid, however the query is invalid or uses functionality that is not supported.
    This error sort of ticks me off, so I go to the SQL Worksheet and do a
         CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW… bla bla bla
    And it creates my view, and it seems to work just like I expect it to. Does anyone have any ideas why I can manually create this view in a SQL worksheet, but not through the "New View" dialog box?
    Below is the exact SQL I use to create my view
    SELECT
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."PARENT" "PARENT",
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."CHILD" "CHILD",
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."CHILD_ALIAS" "CHILD_ALIAS",
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."CHILD_STORAGE" "CHILD_STORAGE",
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."CHILD_AGG" "CHILD_AGG",
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."VAR_REPORTING" "VAR_REPORTING",
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."TIME_BALANCE" "TIME_BALANCE",
    "HS_ACCOUNT_MEMBER_V"."MEMBERFORMULA" "MEMBERFORMULA",
    level "PARENT_GEN"
    FROM
    "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T" "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T" left outer join "HS_ACCOUNT_MEMBER_V"
    on "HS_FPR_ACCOUNT_T"."CHILD" = "HS_ACCOUNT_MEMBER_V"."NAME"
    start with PARENT = 'Account'
    connect by prior CHILD= PARENT
    order by level,
    decode(CHILD, 'ZZZZZZ', '0',
    'COP', '1',
    'ZZZZ'),
    CHILD
    and it gives me this error:
    The SQL syntax is valid, however the query is invalid or uses functionality that is not supported.
    Cannot find relation "HS_ACCOUNT_MEMBER_V".
    Any insight anyone might have on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    I had this same problem.
    You have a corrupted file somewhere in this directory:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user_name>\Application Data\SQL Developer
    Before you read further, recognize that this may be the default directory where sql developer will put your sql files, so make sure you don't harm those! Plus, you will lose your preferences and database connections, so make sure you know how to set them up again before you continue. Backups of this directory would be wise. :)
    I solved this problem (and a host of others, by the way), by deleting this directory (after backing up my sql files elsewhere) and running sql developer again.
    Of course, I lost all the preference settings, database connections, etc., so I had to type those in again.
    I believe it happened by importing a set of preferences built on another machine, but I haven't had time to go back and prove that.
