Creation of database
Hi All,
I use Jdevelper Studio 11.1.1.5.0, i know how to create an empty database : new application -->...
But, i want to create its contain : for exemple :
the database should contain emplyee (ID,Name,e-mail,...)
How can i enter the detail i want in my database.

if you want to create a new db in Oracle database means. go to coressponding forums post it. some experts will help you.
if you want to create a new db connection in jdev means follow as above people says.
whenever you are ready to post any question means you should prepare yourself. as well

Please note i am doing the clonning from production to test server.
Production Server -
1. Run the adpreclone.pl on the apps & db tier.
2. run the autoconfig on the apps and db tier.
3. shut down the production instance.
4. Moved the files and started the clonning process on the db tier i am getting the below issue.

Check alert<SID>.log file for more details about the error.
It looks like that the source database was not cleanly shutdown before copying the files to the target node. Please do the following and check then:
SQL> connect / as sysdba
SQL> startup mount;
SQL> recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;
-- type CANCEL
SQL> alter database open resetlogs; If the above does not help, then shutdown the source database normally (make sure it is down), re-copy the files and start the cloning process again. -

Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set. In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.

Projection View
Projection views are used to suppress or mask certain fields in a table (projection), thus minimizing the number of interfaces. This means that only the data that is actually required is exchanged when the database is accessed. A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.

Cloning Issue RC-00118: Error occurred during creation of database
Friends,
I execute following scripts on source system preclone.pl dbTier &perl adpreclone.pl appsTier
then take the cold source backup and transfer on another machine for cloning but when i am executing cloning script on db tier i am getting below mention error after 50% completion. I have very limited time and i cant go back on source system for fresh backup, please help me to sort out his issue.

Creation of Database link and access the same plus Snapshot creation
i want talk between two oracle server. i decided to go for snapshot creation with periodical refresh. For which i am having two oracle server's with different ip address located inside our office setup.
I have created a database link between two servers.
first server name global
userid scott
password tiger
second server name asil
userid scott
password tiger
both the user have been given dba rights.
in both the server the services and listners are all started. i gave the following command to create database link.
from asil server
create public database link global connect by scott identified by tiger using 'global'
the command was successful and the link was created. Now i tried to access a table of the scott user of the global server.
select * from emp@global;
now it is giving error. I want to know how the link can be created and how it can be accessed. i refered the 8i online documentation and done the things based on that. i expect valuble solution from all possible persons
nullA reason for this problem could be that your database is configured that a database link has to have exactly the same name like the global name of the database instance it should connect to.
Can you please provide the oracle error code / message ? With this information there might be more hints I can give you. -
Problem in connecting after manual creation of database in 9i.

I had installed Oracle 9i and I tried to created the DB manually. I tried all possible ways to connect, but it was in vain. I tried - connect / as SYSDBA(ORA-24314: service handle not initialized), connect / as SYSDBA/password (where password is the one given during the creation of the service - as suggested in the Post installation guide of Oracle, just to receive an invalid option in connect string error) and connect "/ as SYSDBA" (ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error).
Please throw some light on this problem.

VijayI have the same problem with Personal Oracle 8i. I tried to create a database manually and the creation failed the first time because Oracle claimed it ran out of process memory. I was never successful in getting the database functioning and couldn't even deleted it although I did manage to delete the service.
Now, whenever I use SQLPlus from the command prompt, I get the TNS Protocal Adapter error. SQLPlus worksheet and SQLPlus under the "Developer" menu both work and I can use the JDBC driver successfully.
Anyone have any suggestions?

OAS 10g metadata repository creation assistant & database version issue

I have to install Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 on a server which already has an Oracle database 11g running on it and I dont want to install another database due to the load factor. I am not sure if I could use that database
(version 11g) for the metadata repository. I know that we can use an existing database for the creation of metadata repository using the metadata creation assistant but I am a bit worried about the version of the database which is 11g whereas the application server and the metadata creation assistant both are 10.1.2.x.
Your help is highly appreciated.

OmerMRCA 10.1.2.0.2 cannot be used to install a repository in an 11g database. If you want to use MRCA 10.1.2.0.2 with an 11g database, you will need to install a 10g database first, create the metadata repository and then upgrade the database to 11g. Not applicable in your environment as you already have a 11g database.

Creation of Database table using function module DB_CREATE_TABLE
I used the function module DB_CREATE_TABLE to create a database table from a report program.
The SY-SUBRC value being returned is 0 but I am not able to access the table using SE11(that is if it gets created). Kindly let me know if you know how to resolve this problem.
Is there any other function module to create a database table from a report program?

Solaris installation of 8.1.7 fails on creation of database
I am at wits end. I am try to install oracle8i standard edition on a sun 420. I get all the way through the installation and on the creation of the database the installation fails with the error ORA-3114 not connected to oracle. It looks like the oracle listener is not there or has died. I also get this if I try and run dbassist manually.
I have lots of disk space I am installing on a 30 gig drive with about 14 gig free. and I have lots of memory this is a 420 with 1 gig of memory.
I looked at the installation log file at it is useless it simply tells me dbassist died.

I've experienced the same problem on mandrake 7.2 on my first install....
I've tried to manually modify the listener.ora putting the ip address of the machine instead of its name...
After restarting the listener... It worked!

Shell Creation : Export Database
To create the target system with shell creation :
1. I've create control file in the folder E:\sapinst (*.TPL and *.STR)
2. I've execute the steps "Define Environment Parameters and Excluded Tables"
3. I've executed sapinst --> Export Preparation. The sapinst folder is :
C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\NW04S\LM\COPY\ORA\EXP\CENTRAL\AS\PREEXP
4. Now I would like to execute sapinst --> Database Instance Export, but my question is : where and when I must copy the fles create in step 1 ?

You have to make sure that the export process uses your current installation directory i.e. E:\sapinst (for your case) and not the default one i.e. C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir. That is the main requirement of Shell creation process.
To achieve the same you may need to do the following -
> Incase you are not using migration monitor then you should start the export process from the current installation directory (E:\sapinst) and you should start the SAPINST tool with the parameter SAPINST_CWD and set it to E:\sapinst. for ex.-
e:\sapinst>J:\xxx\yyy\xxx\zzz\SAPINST SAPINST_CWD=E:\sapinst
> Incase you are using migration monitor then you should start it in manual mode and you should specify it to use E:\sapinst as the installation directory.

Error during creation of database
I am running oracle 8i on solaris 7.I already had a database up and running.Now i was trying to create another one.I created password file,Parameter file and also set the ORACLE_SID and connected with server manager and try to start the instance in nomount but faced an error ora-27146 .
message : Operating system call failed.
IS there some body who will help me out

The short answer is however since you are logging in as the OS user (/) the database is reporting the OS user doesn't have the sysdba privilege. Did you grant the OS user sysdba or dba privs? Can you log in with sqlplus /
You would get better answers from the database area. -
