Creative ZEN - How to lock

Sorry for the stupid question,but I didn't seem to find the answer here nor in the manual,and I read it's essential for the battery life to lock the player while just listening...so,how to lock this thing?

When you slide your power button down, it powers on the device, right? When you slide it up, it locks the player during playback.

Creative Zen - how to order playlis

I just got the new creative zen but I can't figure out how to order the playlists. When I create a new one, it orders it alphabetically. In media explorer, if I drag/drop it to a new place, it doesn't fall into the new position, it adds all the songs from that playlist to the one I just dropped it on. It never "fits" in between the other playlists.

That is a myth. For lower bitratrate files, such as 6 kbps or 32 kbps, WMA files will sound a bit better than mp3 files at the same bitrate. Files at such low bitrates are typically lectures and podcasts, and not music. Music files are usually 28 kbps and up. At
those bitrates, there is little quality difference between WMA and MP3 files at the same bitrate. WMA files do take more processor power to decode though, so expect shorter battery life when playing WMA files rather than mp3 files. Furthermore, recompressing files that are already compressed will result in lower sound quality. For example, if you have some mp3 files at 256 kbps and want them on your player at 60 kbps to save space, you should make the 60 kbps mp3 files from the CD, and not from the 256 kbps mp3 files if you want the 60 kbps mp3 files to be the best quality they can be.

Creative Zen V is locked

Hi, I am sorry I am posting this because i know there are more posts like this, but i could not find the answer. My Zen V froze up yesterday when i hooked it up to my pc, I know this because when I removed it (As i was getting an 'Player Not Connected Error') it remained in docked mode, I tried resetting it, but that does not work either, I have no clue what to do, and I am concerned from all the posts about this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Maybe you can try this: With the player connected to the PC via USB cable, reset the player.Also, if your FW is not updated, try updating it.

<DIV align=center>Hello, Just got a Zen Micro and just installed it and all that and then when i was messing about with it the battery went so when i went to charge it i plugged the USB in the back of my computer and plugged it into my Zen, It did work for a bit but then i played with it a bit more and now the battery has totally gone, when i plug it in, it doesnt show up.. Im just wondering if its still charging, even though it doesnt light up because in the instructions it says that it should light up and show a symbol but it cant do that cause the battery is dead? ah buddy it just happend to me when my friend lent me his zen mirco for me to fill up with music, u just pop open the back take out the battery, plug in the USB and then put the battery back in and everything should be fine, dont worry

Creative Zen Xtra 40gb locked in Rescue M

I am having trouble with my Zen Xtra. When I turn it on it goes into recovery mode and I can't get it out. I have tried a reboot and a cleanup, but they are not working. I have also tried a reload but when I select any of the option they don't actually do anything. I can charge the player when I plug it to the main power, and have tried taking out the battery for a ew hours and replacing it. This is not working as every time I turn the player on it goes straight back to rescue mode.
Can anybody help?

All you can do is run through the advice in the section "My Zen is not behaving properly, won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" of the FAQ. If functions in rescue mode don't work then the player is faulty unfortunately, and you need to contact support.

Creative Zen 8 gig - How do I play all videos at one time and skip to next vid

I was able to do this with the Creative Zen V plus 2 gig, why can't I with the large and more expensi've one?

I have the same question as the original poster.
I am loading the zen with music video files only (wma) and would like to have the same playback options as mp3s.
I understand video file dont have "tags" like mp3s used to facilitate searcing for tracks eg. artist,album etc and i wonder if this could be a problem.
The question is...How do i get the player to play a list (or folder contents)) of video files either randomely or consecuti'vely without having to do it manualy for each and every video ie set up a playlist. Or is this not possible

Just wanted to mention - I bought the IR Remote thinking to make the player useful without navigation keys. Now I feel like I wasted more money instead of shifting to some other player by some other company with better customer service.

Creative Zen Vision 30GB - How to set IR Remote ON with Navigation keys not working in the play

I have Creative Zen Vision 30GB player. Within a month of buying, its navigation keys stopped working. I took it to the customer service of store where I bought it and they fixed it (their solution was to make firmware update, even though I do not understand how come that can fix this issue). Anyways after another 5 months of not so often use, the same problem returned (key pad stopped working and without it this player is useless). I sent it to Creative and they returned it saying that as it has few scratches on the edges, they believe it has been hit. I never dropped the player and these are normal scratches at the end if you do not use any skin (which I could never find for this player). Btw from my other friend's experiences, Creative always does like this, never considered warranty (so beware!). Anyways now the problem is that I have IR remote for Zen vision but it can not work till IR Remote setting in System->Player Settings is switched ON. And this can not be done as the navigation keys are not working. So please please suggest me some other way if anybody of you know to enable this setting through software. Otherwise this costly player is just a 30GB harddisk for me

Creative Zen 8GB locking freezing problem

)CMy creative zen is actibg up a bit. I locked it recentlly, to conserve the battery. However, it just froze there. My Player is not locked, but is still displaying the locked logo, without going to a black screen. Whenever I press a button, it doesn t respond. It goes to idle shutdown after the set 5 minutes. I have tried the recovery tool

The reset is one of those things you may need to do repeatedly before it works. Have you tried while it is connected to a wallcharger or the computer? If you haven't do so.

Creative Zen 32GB - how do I remove blank FM presets???

How do I remove blank presets from the FM list? I have about 20 stations set up as presets but the other 2 blank ones are still there. Delete doesn't delete them. All delete does is to erase the station from a preset that has a station programmed into it. I want them GONE so that when I sequence through the station presets I don't have to go through the 2 blank ones to get to the next good one. If this is not possible, holy cow, what an oversight on the part of the programmers! Please tell me this can be done!
This is for a Creative Zen 32GB. Not a Zen V or a Zen XFi. Just a Zen. Just a plain Zen.

Wow. That's very odd indeed. Seems pretty logical to be able to do that. There's no way I could program in 32 stations and I li've in a major radio market. There are not 32 stations I'd ever be interested in listening to around here and I don't even think there are that many even on the air. Again, since that's software related, please put that in a firmware update.

Basically you do the reverse of how you got it onto the player to begin with. You will open up mediasource, select the Zen Touch in the left hand source window, select PC Music Library on the right hand side. Select your songs and press the arrow pointing to the right.

How do I import music and picture files from my Creative Zen?

I have a Creative Zen media player, which uses Windows Media Player to operate. I have downloaded media player for Mac OS X, but cannot figure out how to import my music. On my old PC, when I plugged in my mp3 player, it automatically was recognized. Nothing happens when I plug it in to my iMac. What do I need to do?

I have bought a couple of Creative MuVo's for loved ones, and they, as removable USB thumb drives, work well with any OS. The Zen, on the other hand, doesn't have the design simplicity of the MuVo, which is why I didn't buy one. I think that they will pretty much only work with Windows.
One thing is for sure: If you plug in the Zen and it doesn't mount on the Desktop or in a Finder window, it isn't going to work with OS X--yet, at the same time, might possibly get corrupted or damaged when it fails to mount correctly and then you unplug it
P.S. Windows Media Player 7.1 for Mac does not have any support for portable players, and given the availability of Microsoft's free Flip4Mac plugin, is truly a worthless download. If this program has been installed, it would probably be best to delete it (and its preference files for that matter) to avoid potential conflicts with the up-to-date Flip4Mac plugin, which I assume you're going to install. Keep in mind that this plugin has nothing to do with adding support for portable players, but since we're on the subject of Windows Media Player, I thought it in good judgment to mention this.

How to save video to play on Creative Zen Vision M

My (PC using) friend just bought a Creative Zen Vision M (the competitor to the video iPod). It will play MPEG1, 2, and 4SP and will play MPEG's created in an older version of iMovie (I forget which, it's been a few years). For some reason, the MPEG4 version created by iMovie HD6 is not compatible with the Zen player.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to export from iMovie HD 6 in a format that can be used by the Creative Zen Vision M?

Sorry about your ZEN Vision:M. From what you mentioned, I don't think the data is recoverable under normal means. You probably might want to take it to a technician? or someone who is familar with electronics to see if they can remove the harddisk from the ZEN Vision:M and recover the data.

If you have both the player and you're using MediaSource, just connect both the player to the computer, select one of the player as source and the other as destination and just transfer over it. Note, protected content will not be transfer over though.
