Criterion Limit Override 2012 R2 Admin UI
I am trying to override the limit of returns when selecting items in the criterion properties interface. I have seen this answered already and I have tried to use the answer I found on this forum.
Here are the contents of the reg I exported with the settings in it:
** Begin Paste **
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10\AdminUI]
"QueryProcessors"=dword:00020000
** End Paste **
This did not work for me at all, the criterion limit is exactly what it was before I applied the setting. I have closed and re-launched the admin ui as well a reboot for good measure.
I have a few clarification questions about this as well:
I apply this to my workstation which has the admin ui on it, not the server, is that correct?
What does the hex value do on this key, is that number it will return?
I have Windows 8.1 64-Bit Enterprise with the 64-Bit console installed. The server is Windows 2012 Datacenter 64-Bit (not R2) and SCCM 2012 R2 (no hotfixes).
Thanks in advance!

It looks like you are missing the part where the DWORD needs to be named
Valuelimit under the QueryProcessors key.
Thanks! I was absolutly it... in case anyone else search's for this, here is the correct key:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10\AdminUI\QueryProcessors]
"ValueLimit"=dword:00020000

Based on the log, I recommend you use the following way to test SQL connectivity.
You can use a UDL file to test various connectivity scenarios, create a simple text file, rename the extension from TXT to UDL, fill out the necessary information on the connection tab then test the connection, and troubleshoot as necessary
if it fails to connect.

What is the best practice exam for 70-462 SQL 2012 DB Admin. exam?
Hi All,
I've completed the 70-462 exam prep guide from Microsoft press, i.e., I've read the book twice and practiced everything I could on my lab network (short of AlwaysOn and Clustering), including all the review questions and practice sections. Now I need
a practice exam and I'm wondering what success test-takers would suggest.
I saw Transcender's practice exam for 70-461 and it was less than what I expected. There were questions that didn't belong there and I don't want to waste my money on a practice exam that has a bunch of "filler" questions. It was the
first Transcender practice exam I've ever seen.
Thanks for any advice you can provide! I expect to take the exam in about 3 weeks.
Eric B.Seriously, though, I've been studying this guide for nearly 6 months, don't have the money to re-test over and over, and would rather pay for a practice test than pay for the exam itself more than once.
Hi Eric,
In addition to Kalman’s post, based on my research, you can take a practice test for 70-462 from below link. Also, as is suggested in this
article, you can buy a practice test for Exam 70-462 from Kaplan SelfTest and MeasureUp.

Besides, about such issues, for quick and accurate response, I would like to recommend that you ask the question in the Learning forums at
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=CertGeneral . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

SCCM 2012 Admin Console deployed using APP-V v4.5.3 crashes
Good afternoon,
I am trying to deploy the 2012 SCCM Admin Console to users via APP-V v4.5.3.
I built a clean Server 2008 R2 Standard server, ran the APP-V sequencer and created the package. Then copied the package to our APP-V server and ran the Application Virtualization Management Console to Import the Application.
Having completed the work above the SCCM Admin Console icon appears on the relevant users desktop and opens / connects to the SCCM site server successfully.
Problems arise when you begin to navigate around the SCCM Admin Console. As soon as you select anything the console crashes with the error: Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe has stopped working - Close the program
Any ideas please ?
AndrewAs far as I'm aware sequencing the ConfigMgr console is not supported. However there are blog posts on how to do this.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/appv/archive/2013/01/08/how-to-sequence-the-microsoft-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-admin-console-with-microsoft-app-v.aspx
http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgr_geek_speak/archive/2013/05/29/sequencing-the-system-center-configuration-manager-2012-administrator-console-with-app-v-5-0.aspx
The App-V versions in these posts are V4.6 SP1 and V5. I see that you are using V4.5.3. Perhaps this is the problem.

Administration port - network channel for admin traffic
I am trying to configure a separate channel for Administration traffic on weblogic. I followed the oracle docos and configured the SSL, domain wide admin port, server listen address, ‘admin’ channel.
The issue is admin traffic in not happening through the newly created channel.
L2 network is not getting used. I can’t see any activity in the monitoring tab of new Channel. Also the netstat is showing that the port 9101/9102 is getting used on the 192.168.100.218 and not on 10.254.252.849.
I also tried by setting up the newly created channel weight as 51, but no luck.
Is JMX connectivity related to admin channel?
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

I am wondering if the JMX connectivity is using the server listen address (adminserver701.mycompany.internal) which will by default resolve to 192.168.100.238. Is there a way to force JMX to use 10.254.252.808?Hi
For first question the answer is no. With the administration port, you enable the SSL between the admin server and Node manager-managed Servers. You can still use the web console.
For teh second question, you can use ANT or can use the WLS Scripting ..you can get more details in dev2dev.bea.com

I've been running Windows Server 2012 Essentials in an organization that until recently stayed within the 25 user 50 network device limit specified by the license. Eventually we've grown beyond that. Since the Server 2012 Essentials machine had a non-transferable
OEM license I decided not to waste it by doing an in-place migration to Server 2012 Standard, and instead set up a new server with freshly purchased Server 2012 R2 Standard and migrated Active Domain roles to it, leaving the original server as a part of a
fail-over cluster.
We purchased 30 User CAL's for the 2012 R2, as required for 25+ staff members.
Now I am curious. The 2 servers that we have right now (2012 R2 Standard and 2012 Essentials) both maintain the same Active Directory and manage the same pool of users and workstations. Does that mean that the primary server with 30 User CAL's takes dominance
and sets the limit as to how many people are allowed to access the network. Or does it become a combination of purchased 30 CAL's + 25 Users hard-wired into the 2012 Essential edition?
Do these servers have to run separate domains with segregated pools of users in order to be license compliant for 30+ users or can they exist within the same same domain preserving individual user limits? What if the 2012 Essentials server maintains
one office location with fewer than 25 staff and the Standard R2 2012 server runs another office with fewer than 30 staff, while both offices are linked via a VPN for the purpose of sharing 3rd party licenses? Do individual user limits apply, or is it still
30 users max?
To sum up the question, I'd like to know whether I'd need to buy more user CAL's when we reach more than 30 staff at 1 or possibly 2 office locations.
Oh, and the device limit! 2012 R2 Standard under user CAL licensing scheme has no machine limits. Essentials is always capped at 50. When running one active directory, what's the legally allowed number of devices on the network? I assume it's unlimited.
Thanks.Thank you for the reply.
My question then is how to transition while preferably keeping both physical servers.
Should a 2012 Standard key be purchased additionally for an in-place transition of 2012 Essentials machine to 2012 Standard (which at this point is as good as a fresh install)? Until then, should the Essentials 2012 server be taken offline entirely?
What about the situation where I described both servers running segregated networks with their own pools of users, only connected via a VPN for 3rd party license sharing? Is that configuration supported?
Also, if the configurations is unsupported, why are the servers able to share roles in first place? Why isn't there a software mechanism preventing interaction? What configuration do the servers themselves assume is in place?
Thanks again. -
User Accounts in Domain Admins group do not have full administrative rights to the server
Our server was fine until recently one day we lost admin access for admin user accounts. If we log in to the server with the Domain Admin account, this account has full admin access to the server and can install and launch all programs and even all server
admin tools. If we log into the server with a user account which is in the Domain Admins group, that account cannot install software or launch Services.MSC. Even IE will not load any page and crash with a "Not Responding" Error.
The server has no viruses we even ran SFC /SCANNOW and it did repair from corrupted files but that didn't fix the issue.
Any ideas?Hi Rick,
May be UAC is blocking installtion. Have it disabled and see if it helps. Ensure you have domain admin groups added into local administrators group.

Is it possible to increase/remove the 20,000 row limit on the AV reports?
When running a report for Logins and Logoffs for the last month, the report returns 20,000 records and informs me that there are more than 20,000. Does anyone know of a way to either remove the limit or to increase it?
regards,
Iain Barr
Ategrity Solutions Ltd.Hi Iain:
At this time, the out-of-the-box reports in Audit Vault are limited to 20,000 rows in code. There is no configurable way to change this limit.
However, the Admin Guide does document the schema extensively, so it should be possible to point an external reporting tool, such as Oracle BI Publisher, to the schema, and query the data. Such reports will not be limited to 20,000 rows. -
ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 module on runbooks servers
Let me come out the gate stating I am very new to Orchestrator and somewhat new to powershell.
I want to start testing the ConfigMgr SP1 cmdlets via runbooks. I found a blog that shows some gotchas on how to run the .Net script action which is great, however all the examples I see show importing the module from an installed management console
directory.
I am assuming that when I run a runbook that needs to reference Configmgr cmdlets that the module must imported from a local path on the runbook server(s) itself. I am really hoping that this doesnt mean I have to install the SCCM 2012 SP1
admin console on my Orchestrator Runbook Servers?
Am I just missing something obvious here? I tried copying the entire bin directory that contains the psd1 and all the associated dll's, etc. to another machine and importing the module, but unfortunately it fails with:
Import-Module : The 'C:\tmp\SCCMPowershell\ConfigurationManager.psd1' module cannot be imported because its manifest co
ntains one or more members that are not valid. The valid manifest members are ('ModuleToProcess', 'NestedModules', 'GUI

ess', 'FormatsToProcess', 'ScriptsToProcess', 'PrivateData', 'RequiredAssemblies', 'ModuleList', 'FileList', 'Functions
ToExport', 'VariablesToExport', 'AliasesToExport', 'CmdletsToExport'). Remove the members that are not valid ('HelpInfo
URI'), then try to import the module again.

+ CategoryInfo : InvalidData: (C:\tmp\SCCMPowe...ionManager.psd1:String) [Import-Module], InvalidOperatio
nException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : Modules_InvalidManifestMember,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.ImportModuleCommand
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!!So I partly answered my own question. The above error message was due to having Powershell 2.0 on the test machine and not 3.0 which is required. I updated the powershell version and was able to import without error (and without installing the
full admin console).
So I guess my question then comes down to what is the best practices for things like this? Certainly do not want to install admin consoles for every SC product on my runbook servers. It appears that with SCCM I can simply create a directory (standard
on all runbook servers of course) and copy the files there and import from that location. is that the preffered method for handling this?
Thanks!! -
Monitor will not restart on Windows Server 2012
With release build we can install Monitor agent on Windows Server 2012, with admin, POA, MTA etc also installed and running ok, in either service or application mode and the monitor agent will run ok at the end of the install. If then exit the application and try to restart it will fail with no errors. Uninstall and re install the application and it will again start first time but not thereafter.

How to disable remote wipe option for mobile devices
Hi,
I have integrated environment of SCCM 2012 R2 and Windows Intune. I am managing Windows phone, Android and IOS devices through this setup. I was trying find an option to disable remote wipe option in the SCCM Console. Only selective wipe should be available.
Can you please help me on how to configure this setting.
Regards
LeelaI got the below response from the micososft intune team.
"Issue Definition: Cx would like remote wipe disabled
in the Admin console.
Scope Agreement: Disable remote wipe feature from account.
You will not be able to block this feature using Microsoft Intune. System
Center Configuration Manager might be able to control this feature. You
might consider opening a case with their team.
The other thing to consider, is to limit the amount of Admin users you have.
Anyone that is given Admin rights in Microsoft Intune will have the ability to
use the wipe feature. "
I have raised a ticket with SCCM 2012 team, awaiting their response.

Program running under UAC prompt hides mapped drives
I have a user on Windows 7 with a non-admin account who runs a program that pops up the UAC. She clicks yes and the program runs. However, since the UAC was involved, it is running with a different token than what she logged into the computer with.
This means that the program doesn't see her mapped drives when doing a File | Open. She has to navigate to the data folder on the server via Network. Needless to say this is cumbersome and inefficient.
What can I do so that the program sees her mapped drives? I don't know of a way to get rid of the UAC except to turn off UAC which I do not want to do.
JonathanHi Jonathan,
I hope this might help you.
Running Your App with Administrator Privileges
There are times that you may need administrator privileges for an application. You may write code that directly interacts with a piece of hardware or an app that sets machine-wide settings in HKLM. When possible, you should design your apps to limit the
need for admin privileges to narrow sections of code, or communicate to an application started with full administrator privileges. Aside from MSI-based elevation, there are two ways to create processes with a user's full administrator token. The Application
Information Service (AIS) will check during process creation and during the creation of a COM object using the CoCreateAsAdmin moniker to see if the
binaries require administrator privilege. It is important to note that the elevation occurs at the time of process creation. The process token never has privileges or group membership added during run time, only when it is
created.

We have a iMac that is used by 3 different people, each with a separate log-in. Under Yosemite, can the individual users access the new features of Yosemite, i.e., iPhone access, using their individual Apple ID's?
If yes, how? What does the sytem administrator need to do to give each user access to the features when they log-in?
If not, then what the heck, Apple? Thanks for your response. I want to make sure I understand this . When installing Yosemite, it requires the apple id. This would be the apple ID of the admin doing the install. If admin enters their Apple ID, then the functions related to their Apple ID will be the default. User B logs in. What does he do to set up his Apple ID to synch functions between his iPhone and the OS? I understand that if he has admin privileges, based on his account profile, his settings should not override the previous admin set up because they are separate accounts, so it is just how the other two users activate the new Yosemite features that I'm unsure about. Will this work for all new features including iCloud drive?

Windows 8 Mail App - Not setting up with Office 365 Account
Hi - I'm trying to get an Office 365 Exchange account set-up with the Windows 8 Mail app. It's giving me an error stating the following:
To sync this account, you first need to: Make your Windows user account an administrator.
I do not want to give admin privileges to the individual user account on Windows (as the error is stating that it wants me to give admin privileges to the local Windows 8 account - not on Office 365) and I cannot find any restriction set-up in the admin
console/settings on Office 365 (or in Widows 8) that would require this privilege.
This same account (on Office 365) can connect fine via Outlook 2010 and a Windows Phone 7 mail app.
How can I solve this?..Derek,
Can you please share the UAC setting or GPO settings you used to fix this in Windows 8? I've gone to the lowest available setting in the UI (there appears to be a lower limit that a NON-admin user can manually set UAC to and to get any other levels,
you need to use GPO) and still no luck.
Thx,
DML
