VMM 2012 R2 Installing Admin Console Hangs (Gathering Required Information)

When I try to install the VMM 2012 R2 Admin Console on a Windows 7 machine with updated C++ redistributables, the install hangs on "Gathering required information."  To Get a log I ran the MSI:
msiexec /package adminconsole.msi /log c:\temp\adminconsole.log

  • Itunes 10.5.1 not installing hung at gathering required information

I seem to have a problem installing itunes on a new Windows XP Pro computer. Itunes starts the setup then gets hung at the screen  gathering required information and status performing installation checks.
Any idea's on how to get itunes installed on this computer?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem and I have Windows XP. Did you manage to find a way of installing itunes in the end? I've uninstalled itunes completely as recommeneded by Apple but still have the same problem!

  • Itunes download gets stuck at:- Gathering Required Information, Status: Performing Installation Checks

My Itunes was not working so I deleted it and now cannot download a new version. The download gets stuck at  Gathering Required Information, Status: Performing Installation Checks. I am trying to download 10.4 for windows. I have been trying to download this again for about a week and have deleted all apple products from my  Control Panel and temp folders. Any advice?
    Cheers
    Jo

Deleting the .itl and rebuilding it will lose date added information. Playlists may be recovered if the .xml file is imported. A better way might have been to temporarily rename the .itl while iTunes is installed, then restore the original .itl after the fact.
For general advice on problems installing iTunes see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Based on the log, I recommend you use the following way to test SQL connectivity.
You can use a UDL file to test various connectivity scenarios, create a simple text file, rename the extension from TXT to UDL, fill out the necessary information on the connection tab then test the connection, and troubleshoot as necessary
    if it fails to connect.

  • BO 5.1.7 admin console hangs

    Hi All,

Infoview works fine on the old server as well as the new imaged server, but when we launch admin console it just hangs after entering username and password.Restarted all the servers but the issue still persists.
Could anyone of you please suggest your thoughts...
    Thanks...

It's been a long time since this version but is your OSAgent running on the new machine on a different port from the old machine?  If not, make sure it is.  It should be in the range of 1024-65535.  You could use osfind to determine if another is listening on the port as well.

On a WebIntelligence server, there are several causes of conflicts with CORBA products including:
    - PC Anywhere
    - Tivoli server management software
    - If you have a Compaq server, the "Surveyor" service may not be disabled
    - You do not have a dedicated server
    - The Oracle database is not installed on the same server as the WebIntelligence Server
In the cases of "PC Anywhere" and "Tivoli", you must you must disable these products and/or any other third party software that use the CORBA architecture.

  • Web Admin Console Hanging

I am trying to open the web admin console but the browser session just hangs - occasionally the session will get to the login screen, but after entering user/password, the session just hangs.
    Any ideas please ?
    Eric Jones.

The problem persists when accessing directly on the server.
    To recap
    The OS is Win2008 64-bit.
Software installed in the program file (x86) folder.
The Apache Tomcat homepage is also inaccessible.
After approximately 20 minutes the Apache Tomcat homepage will render.
This suggests the installation is correct, just very slow.
    Eric.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 Admin Console Connects But Closes In A Few Seconds

I built a new SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 suite on Server 2012 R2. There are four servers: site server, secondary DP, WSUS/SUP, and a SQL server. On the first three the SCCM Admin Console will open. But when logged into the SQL server, the Admin Console opens
for a couple seconds, then closes. The SQL box can connect via wbemtest to
\\server\root\sms\site_ABC. I have checked all the items that show on the screen when your console won't connect. There are  no errors in the smsprovl.log on the site server. I think this problem is on the SQL server.
This is one of three problems I've had a lot of difficulty with on this network. I'm making separate threads for all three
    Ben JohnsonWY

I have been able to verify this problem generates 4 entries in Event Viewer/System logs. In the order they get generated by first in time:
1st - A fatal error was generated and sent to a remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 43. The Windows Schannel error state is 552.
2nd - The certificate received from the remote server does not contain the expected name. It is therefore not possible to determine whether we are connecting to the correct server. The server name we were expecting was (the IP of the SQL server). The
SSL connection request has failed. The attached data contains the server certificate.
3rd - DCOM was unable to communicate with the server servername.fqdn using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID 3cb8 (C:Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\bin\Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe)
4th - an exact repeat of the 3rd entry.

  • Informatica Admin Console hangs on Creating repository service......

    Hello Gurus,
For some time now I have been trying to create a repository service using the Informatica admin console after I have installed Informatica PowerCenter 8.6.1 server and applied the server HotFix 11. I do provide all the correct credentials for the connection to the DB, this is inferred from the process initiation of the creation. It is just now that the creation process gets initiated but doesn’t end. It keeps running with no end. The following are the account privileges granted to the repository user on which the Informatica repository should be created:
    grant dba,connect,resource,select any table, create table,create view,insert any table,delete any table,update any table to infadb_rep;
Note that I have granted a dba privilege to the user as a precautionary measure. Yet, the creation process doesn’t conclude. I have also noticed that no tables, views, procedures not even any objects whatsoever were created on this user. But I have noticed that the user could not be dropped (i.e locked) if the Informatica service is up (that is being discovered after losing hope with the creation process and closing the admin console window).
I just wanted to also note that the whole system is a Virtual machine having Windows Server 2003 SP2, having Oracle 11gDB installed with two Network Adapters ( loopback adapter with static IP 192.168.100.100 and an additional Network adapter with DHCP IP assignment attribute set). Therefore, it is to be noted that addressing the machine usually is done by using the machine name “WIN2K3”. I hope any of these details does not introduce conflicts as a setting.
Would most definitely appreciate the help.
Thanks you very much in advance,
    Hossam

I was able to get it working when I gave the following grants:
    resource
    connect
    create session
    create any table
    drop any table
    update any table
    select on v_$parameter
    create any directory

After deploying System App Server 8, on Win2000 sp4 box, the following exception is thrown when trying to start the Admin Console
[#|2005-09-14T11:27:53.953-0400|SEVERE|sun-appserver-pe8.1|javax.enterprise.system.container.web|_ThreadID=10;|WEB0600: WebModule [/asadmin] failed to deploy and has been disabled: [java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.apache.commons.digester.Digester.setEntityResolver(Lorg/xml/sax/EntityResolver;)V].|#]
Can someone tell me what might be the cause of this exception?
    Thank you.

Try asking the Customer to fire up the JNDI browser in the admin console and try to browse the JNDI tree.
What class is the InitialContext.lookup() happening in? Is that getting executed in the servlet class or a standalone client?
    thanks.

  • Admin Console Hangs

Having an issue with a newly created domain. All seemed to be working fine, was able to setup and save all my managed servers and now the console just hangs when I try to activate any changes. It never crashes but never completes either. I had another domain that had this issue and had to recreate the domain. But this one is too new and should not have any issues. Memory and processes are fine and the machine is having no resource issues, looks to be strictly WL. Anyone have clues on what is the best way to troubleshoot this?

    Just a follow up...I changed the admin mem arguments , registry params are now.... -server -Xms256m -Xmx768m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -XX:+UseSpinning -Xverify:none -classpath "C:\bea\patch_wlw1030\profiles\default\sys_manifest_classpath\weblogic_patch.jar;C:\bea\patch_wls1030\profiles\default\sys_manifest_classpath\weblogic_patch.jar;C:\bea\patch_wlp1030\profiles\default\sys_manifest_classpath\weblogic_patch.jar;C:\bea\patch_cie670\profiles\default\sys_manifest_classpath\weblogic_patch.jar;C:\JDK16~1.0_1\lib\tools.jar;C:\bea\WLSERV~1.3\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;C:\bea\WLSERV~1.3\server\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\bea\modules\features\weblogic.server.modules_10.3.0.0.jar;C:\bea\WLSERV~1.3\server\lib\webservices.jar;C:\bea\modules\ORGAPA~1.5/lib/ant-all.jar;C:\bea\modules\NETSFA~1.0_1/lib/ant-contrib.jar;C:\Program Files\Documentum\dctm.jar;C:\Documentum\config;c:\documentum;c:\documentum\shared" -Dweblogic.Name=AdminServer -Dweblogic.management.username=beaadmin -Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled= -Djava.security.policy="C:\bea\WLSERV~1.3\server\lib\weblogic.policy" weblogic.Server
This is the same regsitry params I have on another environment I have had no issues with. When I just tried to make a small config change just now after these changes and a restart (changed number of logs to retain from 5 to 7) I get the console error below....ideas??? I can see how something might need more mem adjustment but how does it work fine and never crash on one environment and the other is instable and crashes?

  • SCCM 2012 Admin Console deployed using APP-V v4.5.3 crashes

    Good afternoon,
I am trying to deploy the 2012 SCCM Admin Console to users via APP-V v4.5.3.
I built a clean Server 2008 R2 Standard server, ran the APP-V sequencer and created the package. Then copied the package to our APP-V server and ran the Application Virtualization Management Console to Import the Application.
Having completed the work above the SCCM Admin Console icon appears on the relevant users desktop and opens / connects to the SCCM site server successfully.
Problems arise when you begin to navigate around the SCCM Admin Console. As soon as you select anything the console crashes with the error: Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe has stopped working - Close the program
    Any ideas please ?
    Andrew

As far as I'm aware sequencing the ConfigMgr console is not supported. However there are blog posts on how to do this.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/appv/archive/2013/01/08/how-to-sequence-the-microsoft-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-admin-console-with-microsoft-app-v.aspx

The App-V versions in these posts are V4.6 SP1 and V5. I see that you are using V4.5.3. Perhaps this is the problem.

  • VMM 2012 R2: error 410 / 0x80070001 when adding a new Hyper-V host. VMM Agent won't install automatically (status 1603)

I have several Windows Server 2012 R2 hosts. The OS is freshly installed, no roles/3d party software besides Hyper-V role). I also have a freshly installed VMM 2012 R2 server. They all are in the same AD domain. I want to manage those Hyper-V hosts
with this VMM instance, but I have troubles connecting those hosts to VMM.
Whenever I try to add a Hyper-V host in the VMM console, the process is stopped almost immediately after it starts. The failing step is "1.2 Install Virtual Machine Manager Agent". The final error message is as follows:
    Error (410)
    Agent installation failed on XXX.
    Incorrect function (0x80070001)
    Recommended Action
Try the operation again. If the problem persists, install the agent locally and then add the managed computer.
If I try to install the agent manually copied from the VMM host (C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Virtual Machine Manager\agents\amd64\3.2.7634.0
as of now) by just clicking on its MSI file in Windows Explorer (and agreeing to the Windows prompt to run it with elevated privileges), the installation fails as well with "Installation success or error status: 1603." in the
    server Application log.
The only way I found to install the agent is to run the installation from command prompt with elevated privileges. In this case the installation finishes successfully, and I can add the host to VMM by marking the "Reassociate the host" checkbox
    in the VMM wizard.
Why is it so? Isn't the agent supposed to install without manual intervention? As I recall, I had no such problem with previous versions of Windows Server and VMM.

I brought up the share because it is off by default with Hyper-V Server as well as a Core installation.  Regardless of the Firewall policy involved.
Maybe, but I don't work with pure Hyper-V and Core servers. I have a full-fledged Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter.
You're correct that File Server role is not enabled by default, this is my mistake. I open SMB-IN port manually (with the help of a group policy), and Windows considers it to be am equivalent of the enabled File Server role. Nonetheless, ADMIN$ share is
always accessible in my environment (and without it, for example, I wouldn't be able to remotely install things like SCOM Agent which installs without a glitch). Just in case I manually installed the File Server role, and it didn't help.
What you say about multihomed servers is interesting. The servers in question do have multiple network interfaces, but at the time I tried to install the VMM Agent only one of them (a designated host management / network access interface) had a real IP address.
Two other interfaces were non-configured (I apply a virtual switch configuration after the VMM Agent is installed). Just in case I disabled them when tried to install the VMM Agent remotely on the last host, and the installation still failed immediately
after start. Anyways, after the VMM Agent is installed manually the host can be normally re-associated with VMM, so it's doubtful that I have a network issue.
And, of course, there is no 3d-party software on the hosts (no antiviruses/firewalls in particular) except the EMC Unisphere Host Agent (a piece of software necessary for connecting a host to an EMC storage system) and networking drivers. Actually,
this is a pure Microsoft environment.
So I still believe that is has something to do with the Windows Installer inability to configure Windows Firewall policy after being invoked from Windows Explorer with a double-click on a MSI file. But I don't know how to strictly confirm it.
