CRM and NetWeaver  Portal Related Question?

Dear All,
We have a requirement where in a single iView (CRM Opportunity), we would have a custom tab (call it CTAB1), clicking on which should display a separate web-based application within that tab. (as illustrated below):
The web based application would be called through a URL and a few parameters must be passed on along with it from the CRM application. All clicks within that tab would be processed by that application and once the process actions are completed, certain details would be passed back on to the CRM application. We will have custom tables and fields to capture that data in the CRM database. This data (static data) needs to be displayed under another custom tab (CTAB 2) in the same iView.
The web-based application can pass on and understand XML messages.
My queries are:
1.How feasible is this scenario?
2. What kind of effort is required to build CTAB1 (custom tab calling an external URL)?
3. What kind of effort is required to build CTAB2 (custom tab calling a custom table and custom fields residing in CRM DB)?
4. In case we decide to build the UI for the web-based application (UI elements in iView, no data in own DB, but calling APIs in the web-based application to process the data), what would be the approach required and how much additional effort would it require compared to 2?

Pradeep, first of all this scenario is definately feasible. The CRM Opportunnity iView you currently see is a so called PC-UI Application and withing the PC-UI framework several extension projects are possible. See for more basic information /people/vijaya.kumar/blog/2005/06/10/people-centric-user-interface-pcui--getting-started. [original link is broken] When the actual detail requirements can not be met in this framework a BSP Application would do the trick. On your other questions, I would say:
2 - Easy to achieve, use guide's example or have a look at /people/vijaya.kumar/blog/2005/06/10/people-centric-user-interface-pcui--getting-started on how to proceed.
3 - Easy to achieve, you can use EEW to realize this, have look at my weblog /people/vijaya.kumar/blog/2005/06/10/people-centric-user-interface-pcui--getting-started on how to achieve this.
4 - Think this approach os much more difficuolt to achieve withing the PC-UI Framework
These are my thoughts, hope it guides you in the right direction. Tiest.

    The easiest way to know what SAP NetWeaver SPs aligns with SAP ERP/ECC SP stack or any other app's SP stack is the following:
    - logon on to http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks
    - click on the appropiate app's SP stack . SAP ERP 6.0 (SAP ERP 2005) your case as it also covers EhPs too.
    - In the resulting screen, select the ECC SP level you have (or want) and NW components you have
    - The resulting list will indicate what the NW patches you need to be in synch.

    I am trying to build functionality for an organization to do their announcements using CRM 7.0, Once the announcement is published it should be visible on the SAP Portal. I am planning to do like this:
    1) Create a campaign using mail form (Announcement content) and target group
    2) Select the communication method as e-mail and I have done settings in SPRO to create the activity for an outgoing mail
    3) Release the campaign and execute the campaign
    4) Upon execution the CRM system will create the activity for an outgoing email (announcement)
    4) Create an iView in portal
    5) Pull the activities created on CRM and display on the portal iView
    My questions are:
    1) Is there any standard iView to do this
    2) Is there any other standard functionality available to do this announcement using CRM and Portal
    3) What are the lining table between Campaign activity and mail forms (e-mail content for announcement) - When I go activity search on CRM WEB UI I can see these activities and also I can see these activities on CRMD_orderadm_h, but unable to get the link tables between this activity and outgoing mail forms.

    I am working on federating portal i.e BI portal and EP portal federation.
    My question is, for remote role assignments do we need to use the same user store similar to BI and EP or can we use different user stores for the remote roles other than BI and EP.

    For content sharing interactions between NetWeaver portals in your federation network, users on the consumer portal must also exist in the user store utilized by the producer portal; otherwise runtime authorization for remote-based content will fail.
    You may use:
    Single user store: Using a single physical user store that serves all your portal installations.
    Distributed user stores with exact duplication: Using two or more distributed user stores, typically one at each portal installation, which are exact replicas of one another.
    Distributed user stores with partial duplication: Using two or more distributed user stores, typically one at each portal installation, whereby only portal users that are assigned to remote content are copied to the user store on the producer portal.
    Since the federated portal network makes use of logon tickets for authentication, the users' logon IDs must be identical on both the consumer portal and the producer portal. Therefore, if you are using user stores of different types within the network, for example LDAP on consumer and ABAP on producer, the logon IDs must be identical across the user bases.

  • Backup VHD size is much more than expected and other backup related questions.

    Hello,I have few windows 2008 server and i have scheduled the weekly backup (Windows Backup) which runs on saturday.
    I recently noticed that the actual size of the data drive is only 30 GB but the weekly backup creates a VHD of 65 GB.This is not happening for all servers but for most of the server.Why is it so..and how can i get the correct VHD size..60 GB VHD does't make
    sence for 30 GB data.
    2. If any moment of time if i have to restore entire Active Directory on windows 2008 R2 then is is the process same as windows 2003..means going to DSRM mode,restoring the backup,authoritative restore or is there any difference..
    3. I also noticed that if i have a backup VHD of one server (Lets Say A) and if i copy that Backup to other server (Let Say B) then windows 2008 only gives me an option to attach the VHD to server B but through backup utlity is there any way to restore the
    data from the VHD,Currently i am doing copy paste from VHD to server B data drive but  that is not the correct way of doing it..Is it a limitation of windows 2008?

    Hi,
    If there are large number of files getting deleted on the data drive, the backup image can have large holes. You can compact the vhd image by using diskpart command to the correct VHD size.

    For the second question, the answer is yes. If you want to restore entire Active Directory on windows 2008 R2, you need to start the domain controller in Directory Services Restore Mode to perform a nonauthoritative restore from backup.

    If you want to restore a backup to server B which is created on server A, you need to copy the WindowsImageBackup folder to server B.

  • 3.1.2 update problem and a .ipsw related question

    For the last couple of days all my attempts in updating to 3.1.2 ended up in an error right at the conclusion of the download process. The download would get to 99% and than quit with a network time out error (even though there is actually no internet disruption on my end). I tried disabling the firewall and antivirus, didn't help.
    Is there anything else I might try doing? Alternatively is there any other (official) way to actually download the update outside iTunes? I found an .ipsw file supposedly containing this update (even the file size is a match) but is it safe to do it this way? If it is, how would I go about using it(never updated that way before)?

    ok try this #1 reinstall itunes #2 download the update #3 then put your phone into restore mode by holding the power button and the home button down at the same time till itunes finds a phone in restore mode then restore the phone and it will have the update on it this worked for me good luck.

    Ok, I think I have calmed down. I will keep my playbook.  But some issues still continue to burn me.   The lastest, the time to recharge off the provided wall-charger.
    - So does anyone here have the Rapid charger? Does it really work faster than the wall-charger?
    - WIll the playbook charge off a PC USB connection?
    - Will the Playbook charge off a standard 9700 or 9800 charger?

    The provided wall charger works pretty fast for me, I was actually surprised how quick.

  • GetAudioClip() and applet size-related questions

    Hello everyone,
    I have coded a small animation and wanted to use audio file (.au) to add sound to my applet. But for some reasons it does not want to read my .au file. I tried different .au files, but with no result.
    I am using eclipse and while it (eclipse) compiles it creates 2 directory: src and bin and saves file.java and file.class in them respectively. I placed my .au file(s) in both of them......nothing happened. Though I added a .jpg file to these directories for the background to test how it works and it works fine with it. And not forget to mention that these .au files play fine without using java.
    Well, here is a bit of that code:

    I wanted this .au file to play as long as the y_pos does not reach the point 200So, play() it before the while loop, and stop it afterwards (or whenever y reaches 200).
    To begin with you should just write some code to make the sound play - and if there is a problem with the size of the file, resolve that first.
    By the way, can anyone tell me where eclipse saves the html code for the applet? I don't think there is any html code. Eclipse uses an applet viewer. Try putting the html <aplet> information as a comment near the start of your file.

  • Netweaver Portal and SAP Easy access GUI

    I have a basic question and need answers from you folks
    We have done all the necessary configuration and enhancement in sap crm 5.0 GUI - We are now implementing Netweaver Portal 0.4S  and the transaction pages we see in portal are very different from what we have configured in Easy access GUI.
    We want the portal pages to mirror to whatwe have in easy access. How will it be done?  Is it done from SPRO in CRM or a different process all together.
    Please give some directions as to how we can go about it.

    Hi Tarang,
    To my knowledge, the easiest way to implement your requirement is to use iView of the type SAP Transaction iView.
    While creating the transaction iView you have configure the user mapping and give the transaction Tcode.
    The resulted iView will be the exact copy of what you see in the SAP GUI.

  • CRM Business Package 5.0.0 SP1 in Netweaver Portal 7.3?

    Hi,
    at the moment we have a Netweaver Portal 7.0 with CRM Business Package 5.0.0 SP1.
    We are planning to upgrade our Portal to Version 7.3 but are not able to upgrade CRM to 7.0 at the moment, so we have to stay a while at Version 5.0.
    Could anybody tell me if it is possible to use our current Business Package also in 7.3?
    As i see there are no further SPs for this Business Package, so i only can use the one i already have!?

    We are also facing same issue : Installing BP CRM 5.0 with EP 7.31.
    Error we have :
    Content pass of Application integrator failed 'com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.BSP'
    Unable to parse template '<PSID.CRMUnique>'
    Hereafter you will find summarised what we tried (without success) :
    Add role CRM Default service
    Upload component com_sap_pct_crm_core_services.par (see oss note 1175462, 1291058)
    We raised an OSS Note asking for BP CRM 5.0 compatibility with EP 7.31. SAP answer is : no compatibility.
    We do not understand why and are looking for a document where it is clearly indicated.

  • Portal Landscape - With 2 CSM (load balance) related question

    Hi,
      We are currently having a portal landscape (Dev, QA -2 app servers, PRD - 4 app servers). The load balancing happens on Production Portal using CSM (load balancer) and it does SSL offloading for security encryption and it lands onto one of the application servers. When we try to login to portal it authenticates using the LDAP (OID). And we have some links which takes to backend R/3, BW etc (we use SAP load balance using SMLG logon group)
    Now due to another special project the following is what we are planning:
    1. Adding couple of more application servers for production portal or having seperate second portal landscape itself
    2. Adding couple of more application servers for R/3 production server (load balance can be done with special logon group for that)
    Questions are:
    1. When we land into current production portal page and click a iview link for the special project it should go only to those special portal app servers (planning to do through another CSM) and from their to backend R/3. In this scenario how the authentication (or sso ticket) happens when it goes from CSM to another CSM, will it ask for login again or any issue will happen with SSO ticket ?
    2. If we decide to go for second portal landscape and in the same scenario when login to current prod portal page and click a iview link for the special project it should go to that another production portal,in that case what will happen to the login authentication happened through the first portal and SSO ticket ?
    3. Suppose if we go to the second production portal directly through a website and if the user tries to login using the same id to first portal how portal will deal in terms of security (SSO) and also how backend R/3 will behave when same id comes as part of SSO.
    Or if anyone thinks of any other issue apart from SSO or encryption related things which i need to be aware of, kindly let me know.

    I am not sure what CSM is, but I would expect it only does ssl offloading and a sort of "reverse proxy" against the cluster.

    This depends on the host name you use for the two CSM clusters. If they have the same subdomain, there should be no problem as the SAP Logon Ticket (MYSAPSSO2) cookie is issued to the sub domain of the portal.
    If they do not have the same subdomain, the second CSM cluster will receive the request without the MYSAPSSO2 cookie, and will therefore trigger reauthentication.

    It will fail, as the MYSAPSSO2 cookie from the first portal is not recognized in the second. However, you can easily setup so that the second portal trusts the first and does a logon based on its credentials

    I assume both portal will be setup against the same LDAP/UME source. Therefore it will allow the logon. The backend systems should trust both the first and second portal (STRUSTSSO2 transaction)
    I think your architecture choice comes down to if the new project has special considerations with regards to versioning of portal. If it does, it would be sensible to separate it into a separate portal (and you can always integrate them with the first portal through portal federation if you have a relatively new version).

    There is not such template called Industry standard for NW portals.
    Each firm have there own format and contents required by them .Objective of such documentation is to cover all the data points which can enable Technical support to provide necessary support for Portal environments.
    Normally we include System landscape, URL details, OS details, Hardware details, DB details, SAP Portal technical details like version and patch level.
    Business point of contacts,
    SOP to start and stop systems
    Known problems and resolutions
    You may work out template based on above inputs.
