Crontab not wokring in Oracle10g in RHEL 5

Dear Friends ,
I am using oracle10g .I want to run the following script using crontab as 'Oracle' user .
The script is :
rman target sys/sys123 << !
run
allocate channel t1 type disk;
backup format 'df_%t_%s_%p'
(database);}
I have to make the crontab entry like the following way :
crontab -e (as oracle) :
22 18 * * * /u01/rman.sh 1>/home/oracle/rmanback.log 2>&1
But in the log file, it shows the following error :
"/home/oracle/rmanback.sh[8]: rman: not found"
Not only RMAN , when I run an expdp (racle10g) script Like follwoing :
expdp system/sys123@rnd directory=test_dir dumpfile=orcl.$Date.dmp full=y logfile=orcl.$Date.log
In the log file, it also shows expdp : not found
In Oracle9i I did not face this type of problems .
I am using RHEL 5 ans AIX 5.3 . Both have same problems .
Can anybody plz help me ?

Exposing the SYS password on the command line will allow everyone to see it using the ps command.
This is a clear security violation.
Please either use O/S authentication or use different mechanisms to hide the password.

Can not connect to oracle10g release2 database On XP SP2. Help needed

Hi! friends!
I have used Oracle 8 and it was nice. I didn't run Oracle 9i.
Now I installed Oracle10g R2 in WinXP-SP2. There was no problem in installation. But i can't run it. I get the Black SQL screen. But if i give some command it says "Not connected to database".
Oracle 8 version had built in database "emp" and "sal". In start up username and password box used to come(scott/tiger). But here I don't know if there is any builtin database,even there is no place to input username/password. So i cant work with 10g.
So i can't give command like Oracle 8
select *
from emp;
I do not have any network in my Desktop PC.. pls help me how to run and test Oracle 10g database on my machine. Also tell the name of the built in database.
I am much in trouble.

In 10g database
During installation is you choose "database creation" option then default database is created.
database name is "ORCL"
you can check in windows registry
On command prompt
cmd>net start
if it is showing "OracleServiceORCL" then database is created"scott/tiger user is also created but in 10g it is LOCKED by default.
so you have to first unlock this user.
Now you can connect with "sys"or "system" but you know their password.
in 10g there is no default password for sys or system, we have to mention during installation time.
if you don't know then you can connect with sys like "SQL> CONN / AS SYSDBA" to sqlplus.

Scripts in crontab not being able to execute

50 23 * * * /u/home/oracle/oracle_backup/rman_backup_script.sh > /u/home/oracle/oracle_backup/rman_backup_script_log.txt 2>&1
i am able to run the same script manually but script not executed as scheduled in crontab
-bash-3.00$ cat rman_backup_script_log.txt
/u/home/oracle/oracle_backup/rman_backup_script.sh: ~: does not exist
-bash-3.00$ ls -lh /u/home/oracle/oracle_backup/rman_backup_script.sh
-rwxr--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 2.5K Jul 28 06:03 /u/home/oracle/oracle_backup/rman_backup_script.sh

Crontabs are executed with /bin/sh by default. Be sure to specify what shell you want to execute the script (#!/bin/bash, etc). You may also have to specify the LANG variable as it is a null value by default (LANG=C ; export LANG etc) and things work differently with different LANG environments or no LANG environments specified.

Urgent! Error: ORA-01034 Oracle not available for Oracle10gi

I have used SQL*Plus for a while, but recently when I try to login there is this error message:
Error:
ORA-01034 ORACLE not available
ORA-27101 shared memory realm does not exist
I had search for the solution quite a while. I changed the "sqlnet.ora" from C:\OraHome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN
I changed SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=NT; to SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=NONE and then reboot the machine.
The weird thing is that sometimes it works after I reboot the machine, but recently this just doesn't work any more. The SQL*Plus generates the same error message as I wrote above.
It seems like this kind of problem has troubled lots of oracle database users. IS this a bug that exists in the Oracle10gi?
Or does Oracle10gi require to run on certain operating system platform like Windows XP Professional but does not support for Windows XP Home Edition?
Can the Oracle company provide some error solution guide for the public for their own system?

No this specific error message is not a result of an Oracle bug to my knowledge.
In my experience it is a simple matter of not using Oracle correctly. Only it is not that simple from a pure end-user perspective as Oracle is not a mickey mouse little filing system that pretends to be a database (like MS Access).
Which makes sense. After all, driving a bicycle does not mean one is able to get on a superbike. And if you respond "what!! why is it a superbike!?" then you need a bicycle in the first place.
The cause of the error you list - the client is making a local IPC dedicated server connection to the Oracle instance. This fails as the dedicated server cannot find the Oracle SGA (shared memory area) to attached to. This is usually the result of
a) the Oracle instance is down (and thus the SGA does not exist)
b) the ORACLE_SID used by the client is incorrect (and thus it attempts to attach to a non-existant SGA)
Reason (a) could be caused by some underlaying issue that results in the Oracle instance shutting down automatically or unintentionally.
As for what Oracle 10G requires operating system wise. There are detailed platform certification matrixes on the Oracle web site. In addition, the INSTALLATION notes of Oracle also specifies what platforms are supported.
You also fail to mention the exact Oracle product you're running. Oracle XE is different than Oracle Standard Edition which is different than Oracle Enterprise Edition.
There is btw a dedicated support forum here for Oracle XE - and this one ain't it.

User Crontab not started automaticaly

Dear all
I have following problem with my "user" crontabs:
OD Master (OS 10.5.1) with different users defined. I log into that server with ssh with a "user" account (not admin). I define an cron job with crontab -e. Everything now works like expected. Now I restart my server and the user crontab job is not started. When I look at the jobs with crontab -l, then I see the job listed correctly, but it's not executed.
I can "fix" that, when I log in as that user again and edit the job with crontab -e and save the exact same job again. Then it's runnging again like a charm until I restart the server again... then the same procedure happens again...
Anyone has an idea what it could be ?
Info: When I check the cron-job with ps -ef after a reboot of the I can see, that cron is running.

It seems, that I'm to "old style" UNIX damaged...
Does the calendar bug from launchd still exists in 10.5.1 ? As long this is the case, as long it will not be a replacement for cron.
And anyway this seems to be a bug in crontab as well... old style or not.
Or does anyone have user cron jobs running at server startup ?

[Cron] Crontab not working

My crontab is
SHELL=/bin/bash
* */5 * * * root /var/scripts/backup.sh
which should execute a Backup script every 5 hrs.
But it just doesn't. I don't get any error, it;'s just not executed, as you can see here:

Seems I have the same issue. I have no issue with a 'root' task, but a user task, I do.
I have also put 'all' in /etc/cron.allow and nothing in /etc/cron.deny
I have created my job using 'crontab -e' and created the task as follows:
@weekly backup /usr/local/bin/backup.sh
the /usr/local/bin/backup.sh is owned by me.
Its been more than a week and it is not processing it.
I can run the process myself (the script file).
in /var/spool/cron
I see my entry.
in /var/spool/anacron
I only see root's tasks
I also notice there is no /var/spool/crontabs
I'm quite puzzled. Is anacron going to do my task or crond ?
dcron was working, and I hope someone brings that AUR package back to life.

[SOLVED] cronie (crontab) not working

I can't get my crond to work for some reason. I'ts already started by crond in rc.conf and I'm apart of users group. When I create a simple command such as this bellow its not working;
crontab -e
# run every minute to test
1 * * * * /bin/echo testing123 >> /home/user/test.txt
crontab: installing new crontab
of course I replace "user" with my own system user.
Any ideas what is up ?

Thanks for the tip, I did not think of looking there.
I've created crontab in /etc/ with command "sudo touch /etc/crontab".
But it looks like it did not help. Still not working for some reason.

Font not displaying on Reports Output (RHEL 5) for 10g

Hi, I know I've posted a question in the past about a font not displaying on Report Output for my Arial, Arial Narrow, and Courier New fonts. I worked with Oracle Support and found that Metalink Note#261879.1 fixed my problem with those 3 fonts. I ran the scripts and now that part works great.
However, I have one font "ARIALUNI.TTF" that will not work. This is out specific barcode font we use. I've pushed it on Linux from my Windows by pushing it as a binary file to the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/TTF directory. I even put it in the directory for TTF on Metalink Notoe 261829.1 and let it create the files, but it still doesn't find it when I ran a report that uses this font.
I tried using font subsetting via the uiprint.ali and make a reference but it still doesn't seem to work.
Is there something I'm missing that would cause any of these not to work. I thought maybe some files had to be created under the guicommon/tk/admin/AFM file directory but I'm not sure.
I just want to have my 2 or 3 reports that use this barcode to work. Once I get them, I'm done and all my font issues are resolved. Any help is appreciated.

They are probably a very old Type 1 font. Try checking the dates on the font files. Your best bet would be to get the OpenType versions of those fonts and install them.

Checkpoint not complete after Oracle10g upgrade

OS: AIX 5.3
SAP: R/3 46C, 46D_EXT kernel
DB: 10.2.0.2
After upgrading Oracle from 9.2.0.8 to 10.2.0.2 in four SAP systems, Checkpoint not complete warning messages are detected when running CheckDB in DB13.
"BR0976W Database message alert - level: WARNING, line: 4577, time: 2008-06-23 00.25.21, message: Checkpoint not complete"
What I have done after reading OSS 1068186 & 79341 is - Set "_DISABLE_SELFTUNE_CHECKPOINTING" = TRUE ---> This seems to reduce the number of message but doesn't eliminate the issue.
The next step is probably to increase the size of the redo log files. Just wonder if anyone has any clue on this warning and how to resolve it?

I got this in our development system. I don't think it is I/O bottleneck problem. I will increase the DBWR to 2 and see how it goes.

Resource Assignment Select date range not wokring

The Select Date Range control is not working properly it does not change the results shown in resource assignments under resource center in Project server 2013. Any ideas? Have I missed some configuration?

Note that the date range is only available for the timephased data and not for the Gantt chart.

Web-redirect to external radius not wokring on some browsers for Guest SSID

Hi,
We are using Cisco 5760 with 3.7, and the guest SSID doesn't perform web-redirect to external radius (cisco NAC appliance), for some browsers. Although the same works on Cisco 5508 and 4402 WLC with the same NAC appliance for all browsers.
working browsers: IE9.0 and IE 11.0
Non-working: Chrome all versions, Firefox all versions, Safari all versions.
Can anyone provide some help if they have seen this issue before.?

You need to check the compatibility guide of Cisco WLC and check if those browsers are supported or not.

My ipad is working very slow touch screen is not wokring perfectly and apps keep switching off when i play

My IPad is working very slow.
The touch screen is not working as good.
Many problems when i play a game ( Real Racing 3) keeps on turning off when i play.
Camera is also blurry.
Screen sometimes goes blank.

Try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
Now close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If those three things made no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
If all of that fails, restore the iOS software. Backup your iPad before you restore, then restore the backup when you are done. If that still doesn't help, restore your iPad as new and start all over again. Most purchased content can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID and as long as the content is still available in the store.

Raise form_trigger_failure not wokring on validate records

hi,
I wrotea block level trigger WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD, which do some screen level validation and
in case of failure i use RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE. working fine if i move records
another trigger is KEY-COMMIT on form level.
which calling a program unit where a command is FIRST_RECORD
now when i save the records using the save button
its call FIRST_RECORD, because of this command its executing WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM
and execute RAISE FORM-TRIGGER-FAILURE
but system continue the executaion and jump back to key-commit triiger
why WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORDS 's raise is not working...

another trigger is KEY-COMMIT on form level.
and execute RAISE FORM-TRIGGER-FAILURE
If when-validate-item trigger is not set at item-level plz set it at item-level and check.
set key-commit-trigger at block level.
