Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Congratulations on your new printer!
Forgive me if I do not understand your inquiry correctly...
I will try to give you the help you seek by providing a number of examples that may give you places to look for the type of editing / scanning features you need to accomplish your goals.
First, if you have not yet done so, be sure you install the Full Feature Software for the printer so you do have all the "extra features" availble for the printer:

Next, the following includes the link to the Photo Creations software which helps you print and create fun photo projects.   The program does the work for you - no guess work!
The documents also include help and explanations on how to use the built-in tools that come with Windows to print and manage your photo and document printing.
Print Photos – Three Methods: Photos Creations, Windows Photo Viewer, Word

Printing from your Browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer) or from Word:
Manage Print Output with Print Preview
Save Scan to Specified Location
If you are looking to actually crop / edit photo / Image contents:
Photo Creations (in first document, above) allows some editing of the photo itself
You can also open a Photo / Image in Paint (included with all recent versions of Windows) and edit / crop.  This method is primitive and not particularly intended for photos. Make sure you work on a COPY.

  • IPhoto Book w/ scanned pictures?

Has anyone scanned pictures to iPhoto and then made a book? I was thinking of doing it for a gift but I'm not sure of the picture quality to create a book. I have been reading up on all of the discussions to find out more. What I have been reading is quite interesting. I'm new to the whole process.
    Thank you to all readers!!!
    Lisa

    Lisa:
You need to scan at a resolution that will give you 300dpi at the largest size in the book you plan to use. If you intend on using a one photo per page layout then the photo, for best printing, should be about 3450 x 2250 pixels. Printed at 11 x 8.5 that would give about 300 dpi, the max for the printers used.
It will depend on the size you're scanning. A 4 x 6 for a one photo per page (actually you'll probably have to crop it to something like 4 x 5.5 so it will fit in the frames used in the layouts without losing any of the image or the image not filling up the frame completely.
So for a 4 x 5.5 intended for a full page should scan it at about 600 dpi. Larger photos to be scanned can be at a lower dpi.

  • HP 1410 all-in-one Scanned Pictures not Saved

Recently upgraded my pc to windows 8.1 but the HP 1410 all-in-one printer scanner will  not save scanned pictures.  I attempt to "scan to file" but when I click finish I receive the option to scan more pictures or end (done).  W"done" when I click done the "solution center" app returns to its home screen.
All other scanning properties are functioning correctly.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Dadoo1211
Please first try running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. Please let me know the outcome!

Having arranged some scanned pictures in an album in I-Photo how can I keep them in the order I have chosen when I move the album. They all have the scan date and not the taken date and move to new positions if I move them from one album to another.
Is there any way to re-number them in the order I have chosen so that they can then be sorted by number? The scans are all from pre-digital images that I wish to move to a photobook and I don't want to have to organise them twice!
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I was a bit short, Chris, sorry. It is limited, what can be posted, when typing on an iPad.
Now I am back on my Mac. I meant the following:  Batch Change the date for a large range of photos, that should have a date stepped in increments.
Select all Photos at once and use the command "Photos > Batch Change".
Then set the date for the first photo and select an increment, e.g. one minute.
Now all photos will get a new date assigned, incremented by one minute, in the sequence you have selected. So you will be able to sort them by date.  This way it will be unnecessary to change the titles or filenames.

  • How do I open a scanned picture in Firefox?

I have some pictures scanned and saved in my computer. How do I open one of them in Firefox?
I'm trying to design a book cover and need to open a picture in Firefox to know whether it is an RGB?
Can you instruct me how to do this. please?
    Thank you.

As what file type are those scanned pictures saved?
You should be able to open them in Firefox via File > Open File if it are JPG images.<br />
If the scanner saved them in a special proprietary format then you need to convert them to JPG with the scanner software.

  • Cropping a scanned slide automatically

Does Photoshop have the facility to crop a scanned slide automatically? When I scan, I make the scan selection in the scanner a fair bit larger than the slide to accommodate all slides. i.e. if I'm scanning a number of slides they can end up in slightly different positions in the scanner. So as not to have to adjust the scan selection each time, I make it larger than required. Then I have to remove the black that surrounds the slide in PS.
I can do it manually a number of ways. The easiest appears to be to set up a template selection and move it around for each slide. But that takes time. So I'm hoping PS, or other software, can analyse an image of a slide and, knowing that there are four straight sides involved in a slide, accurately crop to the sides. Even better if it could crop to the rounded corners of older slide mounts.
One difficulty will be when the slide itself has dense black on the edges that may be confused with the black of the slide surround. That's why I mentioned straight edges. The software I'm hoping for would know that four straight edges are expected and somehow it would dismiss any dense blacks close to the edge of the slide.

Have you tried File > Automate > Crop and Straighten Photos?

  • Envy 4500 returns test page instead of scanned picture. No problem with text documents

Scanning pictures returns printer test page instead of jpeg as expected.

Hello @TEC23 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help!
I would recommend checking to ensure there is no past alignments sheets on the scan glass from the setup, and perform a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Scanning Pictures for HD Project I Need Advice

I am about to *Scan Pictures for HD Project* I Need Advice. The scanner is a HP Scanjet G4050 my questions are:
1: At what resolution do I scan these pictures _+(300 or highest dpi available)+_
2: What color choice is necessary *(RGB vs CMYK)*
3: Can you please suggest points for creating a backdrop for the pictures (various sizes) in the Timeline
    Thanks in advance

Scan the picture like you normally would. If the vertical resolution is 1080, you are fine. Don't worry about the 1280 width as black will be in that area not taken up with the photo. That part won't matter if it isn't 1280 if it is a vertical picture. If you don't have at least 1080 high, you might want to re-scan at a higher resolution. If you have it say, 2000 pixels high really no big deal except you don't need it that high and all that extra size slows down your system. If you want it at a lower resolution after you scan go into Photoshop->Image->Image size. Be sure and check "Constrain Proportions" before you change the dimensions in the top box for the height (where you are best using the units as pixels) That way the picture will stay in proportion. Don't use this second method to 'add' more pixels as the quality suffers when you go up this way. Rescan if you want MORE pixels.
All the above is talking about vertical pictures. If you have a really wide photo that is not very tall, use the same principle but keep the width constant. For example let's say you have a 2x6 inch photo. Make sure the width is at least 1280 pixels. Don't worry that the height will be less than 1080 because black will take up that space.
If you are going to do any zoom in and/or panning across a picture, you'll need to make sure it has more than the minimum pixels. For me a little goes a long way, so I zoom in slowly maybe 10-15%.

  • HT4505 I see my scanned picture in image capture but how do you get it to iPhoto?

I can see my scanned picture in image capture but how do you het it in iPhoto or on your desktop?

    Hello:
It has options to "scan to..."  If I scan using Image Capture, I scan it to the desktop (jpeg).  If you want to get it into iPhoto, open iPhoto and import the picture.

Here is a quote from a longtime and dedicated Apple OS user.
"The warning will be helpful to others, though it boggles the mind to read that someone who uses CS5, or any version of Photoshop, would want to bother with iPhoto—ever.
The "problem" is not Bridge's but Apple's iPhoto.  It is iPhoto that hides your images in packages."

  • PE8 in Windows7: cropping a still picture does not encode to dvd properly

Within PE8, the cropping top, bottom, left and right appear to be correct but when encoded to dvd, the image is either hashed on one side or not cropped at all.  I have other pictures within the same project that are cropped and encode correctly.  It appears that there are limits of cropping, i.e., if you crop more than 14% on a side ... the only way I could get around this is to crop the picture externally in photoshop and use this copy in the project without using the cropping feature in PE8. Any thoughts on what the problem could be??
I have a Intel i7-860 cpu with 8g ram; evga gt200 graphics card and lots of internal drive space.

Thank you to Bill Hunt and Steve Grisetti for your replies.
I am using the Project Setting of HDV-720p (1280x720).
My default on the "Scale to Frame Size" is un-checked.
The two pictures in question that are 3700x2800 pixels & 4890x3400 pixels respectfully.
So both pictures used Property>Motion>Scale of 24% & 18%. They also use the Video>Effect>Crop with the Top of 22% or Bottom of 24%.
As a test, I created two separate projects:
         . project setting of HDV-720p (1280x720)
. project setting of STD (720x480)
Each project used the same two pictures in the following scenarios:
. picture #1 & #2 with the "scale to frame size = unchecked as well the pictures with the "scale to frame size" = checked
. for the clips with scale to frame size = unchecked, the Property>Motion>Scale were reduced to 24% & 18%
. for the clips with scale to frame size = checked, the Property>Motion> Scale were increased to 110%
Prior to creation of DVD output to folder all pictures in PE8 look properly scaled and cropped.
    The results of the tests:
. project setting of HDV-720p generated picture #1 with "scale to frame size" = unchecked as if no cropping was applied; picture #1 with the "scale to frame size" = checked was correctly cropped.  Picture #2 with both unchecked & checked options generated okay.
. project setting of STD (720x480) generated all pictures cropped correctly.
So, looks like the cropping effect works okay for STD but may have problems with the HDV setting when using "scale to frame size" = unchecked.
Most of my pictures are in the 3500x2600 pixel range so I will take your advice and use the "scale to frame size" = checked for the bulk of my project and use the "unchecked" option for only those that I want to pan or zoom.  Also I will consider doing more intensive cropping externally (like in Photoshop) before importing into PE8.
