Cross company unique material codes

Hi all,
Three years ago we implemented SAP R/3 for our five companies which belong to same group of companies. Therefore these company codes are on the same client. Recently we have implemented a new company code on the same client which is responsible for export  activities. This new company code buys goods from other company codes of the group and sells goods to export customers. We have been told by SAP consultants that we can use intercompany and cross company functions to operate these processes. The problem is, we have not planned these functions before, therefore the material codes are different in every company code. We have been told that material codes must be unique in every company code to process intercompany and cross company. Since we have five different company codes and thousands of materials, it is a huge work load for us to create these materials uniquely and delete older materials. What we would like to know is, is there any other way or method to operate cross company and intercompany processes even if the material codes are not unique?
Best regards

Hi Mertan,
I dont think that is possible, for inter company or cross company the material should be unique but if you still want to do with different material name then I think you have to go for development. Discuss this issue with your technical consultant and ask him whether he is able to create a table in which one material is assigned with different name  and assigned it with one unique name. So when you will do the intercompany then system will check that table and identify the material.
Hope it helps,
Regards,
MT

Specific business transactions with trading partners
Several business transactions that occur frequently in the various operative applications - as
relating to their trading partner assignments -- are described more closely:
    FI/Financial Accounting
    - Customer or vendor invoice: The trading partner is copied from the customer or vendor
master record and is duplicated in the offsetting entries. Only one trading partner may
    occur in the document.
    - Invoice receipt against clearing account and transfers with clearing: If you do not post an
incoming invoice directly to an expense account, but instead against a clearing account,
the selection of open items must be restricted to those of a certain trading partner when
posting the transfer later on; the same trading partner is automatically copied onto the
    transfer line item.
    - Customer or vendor payment: You can configure the document type for payments to
allow for more than one trading partner in a payment document. Then, the trading
partner is copied only into the customer or vendor line items.
    - Down payments and down payment clearings are always customer- or vendor-related
and are, therefore, handled like the invoices described above.
    AA/Asset Accounting
    - Asset transfers between company codes: If a fixed asset is transferred to another
company code, two posting documents are required - one for each company code. The
trading partner of each document must be set with the company ID of the other company
    code, respectively.
    MM/Materials Management
    - When receiving goods from an affiliated vendor, the trading partner is taken from the
vendor mentioned on the order for the inventory entry and the goods/invoice receipt. If
invoices are still open on the balance sheet key date, group-internal provisions are
created from the clearing account for goods/invoice receipts. These provisions can later
be eliminated in the Consolidation system using the trading partner assignment.
    - Order-related invoice receipts also derive the trading partner from the vendor on the
order and duplicate it into the offsetting entries.
    - Material transactions across company codes automatically derive the trading partner
    from the company code assignments.
    CO/Cost Accounting
    - Cross-company code CO settlements are transferred periodically using adjusting entries
to Financial Accounting via the reconciliation ledger. The trading partner is derived from
the company code, which, in turn, comes from the respective CO posting object being
addressed. These are always dual settlements, whereby the trading partner can always
    be uniquely identified.

  • CO-PA issue in Thirds Party Sales & Cross Company Code Sales

    Hi,
In Third Party Sales with Shipping Notification and Cross Company Sales the CO-PA report is not reflecting the correct material cost.  CO-PA is updating the material cost directly from the Material Master. Cross Company sales condition type PI02 & IV02 is using for pricing. IV02 is working perfect, but PI02 is not !
In detail, for Third Party Sales with Shipping Notification, no material is available in the stock. In material master the material cost display as $ 10/EA. But the Purchase Order value is $ 15/EA. During Goods Receipt time system is taking the cost as $ 15. While Billing time to the customer, system is posting to the CO-PA the material cost as $10/EA. FI postings are perfect, but CO-PA posting is not correct. CO-PA and P&L reconciliation is not matching due to this issue !
    Waiting for the help.
    Best regards,

Have you considered using this user-exit?
User Exits in the SAPFV45PF0E and SAPFV45PF0C Programs
    EXIT_SAPFV45P_001
You can use this user exit to decide whether intercompany billing data is used in the profitability segment for cross-company code sales, or whether the data comes from external billing (external customer, sales data from the selling company code.

  • Add freight cost in a cross company code scenario using a costing sheet

    Dear Forum,
I will like to add freight cost to a material using a costing sheet. The freight percentage is very easy to add and works fine when the cost is added in the company code costing. My problems start when I want to add the freight in the cross-company code costing. I want to setup a cross-company code costing where the freight cost is added to the material in the buying company code and not on the selling company code. The cross-company code costing is setup using special procurement costing keys.
In below costing (CK11N) the procurement costing key is not used.
From the itemization it is shown that purchase info.record 5300067643 is read and the price of 12,97 is determined. There is added 10% in freight coming from the costing sheet.
The freight is shown in the cost component structure as well.
The special procurement type is now changed from ‘20’ to ‘AT´ on the MRP2 screen in the material master. The procurement is now pointing to an internal plant called ‘DCN’.
The costing of material 105050 is now repeated. I get the expected result from changing the procurement key, as I can now see the material is sourced from plant ‘DCN’. DCN is sourcing the material from BJ07, but that is not relevant for the example.
If I now look at the itemization again on the costing in BGA1 I now see that the price is not coming from the info.record. It is the costing in DCN that is used.
I will still like to add the freight cost in BGA1.
How do I add freight cost in BGA1 when I at the same time want to have the costing to be taken from plant DCN?
Please let me know if you need additional information on the customizing setup of the system.
    Best regards,
    Kim Hjorth Poulsen

    Hi Srinu,
Thank You for a prompt feedback.
I have tried to follow Your advise. The special procurement costing key is customized like below.
I have updated the special procurement costing key on the costing 1 view of the material master. When costing the material it is using the special procurement key. This can be seen from the qty. structure tab in CK11N.
It is also costing cross company as intended.
    The itemization looks like below.
and the cost component structure looks like below.
Unfortunately the freight is not added in the costing in BGA1.
I noticed that when the costing is made without special procurement key the costing sheet used in the costing is for material components. If the costing is made with the special procurement keys the costing sheet used is for finished and semi-finished materials. The customizing in both of the costing sheets are the same, but only when costing is without the special procurement keys the freight is added.
So unfornutely Your suggestion did not solve the problem.
    Best regards,
    Kim

  • Cross Company STO w/billing through 3rd Company Code

We have the following situation with our Plants and Company Codes:
       1)     Company Code 1, Plant 1 (Manufacturing and Distribution), US
       2)     Company Code 2, Plant 2 (Manufacturing), Asia
       3)     Company Code 3, Plant 3 (Distribution), Europe
We are implementing functionality to move product directly from our Manufacturing Plants to our new DC.  Product can be directly shipped from Plant 2 to Plant 3, but the invoice must flow through Company Code 1 due to legal reasons.  This is only an invoicing requirement as they are not required to ever u201Cownu201D the stock (no transfer of ownership).
The solution being proposed right now utilizes 2 Cross-Company STOs (both with Delivery and Invoicing - NB and NLCC).  This would involve creating an STO that would move product from Plant 2 to Plant 1 (invoicing between CCode2 and CCcode1), and then a 2nd STO (Cross Company) moving Product from Plant 1 to Plant 3 (invoicing between CCode1 and CCode3).  However, the product would never physically arrive in Company Code 1/Plant 1.  This is a "virtual" movement to meeting the invoicing requirements.  I see this option as complicated logistically and probably requiring customization to keep the documents in sync and provide visibility to their relationship with each other.
I have spent a lot of time researching the forums, Wiki, etc. to see if there is an SAP Standard/Best Practice for the process of moving the Product (once produced) directly to the DC but invoicing via another (3rd) Company Code.  It seems that many manufacturing companies must face this same situation.  I just want to be sure forcing another complication in the Supply Chain is the best way to meet the financial requirements or if there might be a better option out there that others have implemented.  Our goal is to simplify and optimize the Supply Chain, so it seems it just should be easier to meet this financial requirement than forcing Goods Movements in and out of a Plant and creating additional documents.
Does anyone have experience with this situation (Product sent directly between 2 entities, but billed through a 3rd entity) that they could comment on what is considered u201CBest Practiceu201D for this?

    Hi,
I want to share one idea that during STO between company code 2&3, you need to createvendor master record in 3 company code. During creation of venor master create invoicing party (IP) as company code 1. Then invoice will be paid to company code 1.
Another solution is third party scenario. Any way this is intercompany STO, SOME WHAT RESEMBLES EXTERNAL PROCUREMENT INTERMS OF PAYMENT. Why can't you go for third party scenario. In this treat the company code 3 as customer and company code 2 as supplier of the material. Company code is the actual vendor, but orders the msterial from company code2. Company code2 directly delivers the materail to 3 and in company code 1 can do invoice. If required logical MIGO can br done. Hope it helps you. Thanking you.

  • While doing cross company code postings I get an error

    Hi experts,
I have an issue on cross company code postings through FB60. There is a vendor account which has been extended to both company codes. The amount of invoice is Rs.10000 of which 6000 to be accounted in company code 1000 and 4000 in company code 5000. When this is done we get an error 'A unique company code has not been assigned to company number A001'.
After trying several options, I have found one solution. In the test system I Went to classify FI  document types for document splitting, against document type KR transaction 0300 (Vendor invoice) was there. I changed to 0000 (unspecified posting). Once this was done, I was able to post cross company transactions without any problem.
I would like to know as to what would be the impact? Would this change create any other issue?
I request you to give your expert opinion on this.
    Regards,
    Ramkumar B.

    FI Moderator

    Dear,
When you are posting vendor Invoice through FB60 then system creates accounting document "KR" and when document splitting is activated in system the you have to assign Doc type KR to Transaction 0300 and 0001.
This is standard requirement. There will not be any changes by doing this.
    Hope it is clear..

  • Material Division in Cross-Company Stock Transfer Order

We are configuring the cross-company code stock transfer order process.  We seem to have all configuration done, but on the PO and Delivery the division that shows up at the item level is the sales area common division, not the division on the material master.  Due to this, the business area is not being assigned correctly (Plant/Division), thus now allowing us to post the invoice.
Here are the specific Doc types we are using:
    PO: NB
    Delivery: NLCC
    Delivery Item Cat: NLC
    Invoice: IV
Any ideas as to how to get the division from the material master to show up on the PO and/or delivery so that's what pulls into the invoice?  We also understand the the default Sales Order type DL is set for Delivery Type NLCC in the event there is no Sales Order.  For Sales Order Type DL we have set the Item Division flag, but that is not working either.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Shane Newmyer

    Hi buddi,
Thanks for the info, but neither of these things help with the division issue.  I need to have the material division on the PO, Del and Invoice...
    Any other ideas?

I don't understand  it please tell what is company number whether it is company id ????

then also i m getting same error.....
    please help me
    With regards
    Mohd ghouse

    Dear G25,
Company and Company code must have 1:1 relationship in this case for
document split to work. This is explained in long text of error GLT 0001
You can define company at tcd:OX15 and assign these companies to each FI
    company codes at tcd:OX16.
This is the reason why message GLT0 001 "A unique company code has not
been assigned to company number &1" occurs. Please follow the
instructions described in the long text of that message "Assign one
    company code to company number".
Otherwise you can not use the Online Splitter and Inter Company Posting
    in parallel.
    Please check your settings.
I hope this can help You.

  • Sales invoice hitting cross company code transaction

    Hi,
Material and customer maintaining in the same company code and sales order raised accordingly.
but when we are trying to post delivery it is generating cross company code transactions.
    what are the possible reasons.
    sairavi

Ya right , but when i am trying to post the enteries ,  the clearing item is having different profit center ( i.e which i have assigned in the t.code FAGL3KEH ), but  the vendor line item is still taking the dummy profit center.
Vendor line item should actually take the profit center from the clearing line item ... but it it not taking ..

  • Subcontracting cross company code

    Hello,
I didn´t find a standard way to handle the following scenario:
Plant A creates an intercompany purchasing document item category L for subcontracting with header material S and supplier 1 which is intercompany for Plant B (another company code).
Plant A provides material P to Plant B with transaction ME2O and delivery.
The goods issue with reference to delivery creates special stock material provided to supplier on plant level for plant level (quantity and value).
Works all fine so far -->standard subcontracting procedure
    My Question:
How should Plant B post goods receipt:
    Background:
The goods receipt would lead to doubling material quantity (stock available in Plant A and in Plant B) and double valuation.
Plant B needs to create production order to produce S and P as component.
    Any Ideas ?
    Your help is very apreciated
    Cheers
    Thomas

    Hi,
But if the two plants are in different company codes then the STO can use Billing and profits etc. so that the revenue can be managed as you need it.
By using STOs with billing, the system treats the supplying plant as a vendor and the reciving plant as a customer anyway. But the whole process is much easier because you treat them as stock transafers and yet get the benefit of the profit / loss and billing functions.
You rellay do need to read up on the use of STOs cross-company (too much detail for this thread). There may even be some help on the first thread on this forum.
I think that you will be pleasantly surprised at the benefits to the whole process if you explore this option fully. The STOs are "easy" to maintain, the movements and consumptions etc. also follow basic real-world logic and the accounting is DEFINITELY as the auditors would want to see it.
If your plants were set up incorrectly and were within the same company code, then these options would not be available to you (because the SAP system does not allow you to break financial rules and cause audit problems, you cannot have a profit from a transfer within the same legal entity). But is your case you have got the structure correct (many people don't) and so I would recommend that you exploit this standard SAP functionality to your benefit.
Short or long-term, you will realise the benefits, go down the suncontracting route for this solution and your users will have messy functions and will not have the kind of reporting and exnquiries that they will definitely need.
It is up to you, subcontracting is not "wrong" as such and you could get it to work, but it will certainly not be the best solution (by far)

  • Cross Company Code purchasing

    Hi,
Please help me to concept of Cross Company Code purchasing .
I need a Document regarding this or configuration setting , its requirement from one of our client.
So pls send me some document about the Cross Company Code Transaction.
    Thanks
    Mukesh

    Hi,
Refer to the link given below.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/4d/4b9036dfe4b703e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm
Even when the plants involved in a stock transfer belong to different company codes, you can use conventional methods to transfer the stock:
By transferring the stock between plants in one or two steps
By carrying out a stock transport order without the delivery function via Shipping
By carrying out a stock transport order with the delivery function via Shipping
In these cases, the value of the transfer posting is posted to a company code clearing account in both the issuing and the receiving plants. The stock transfer is posted at the valuation price of the material in the issuing plant.
Stock Transport Order with Delivery Via Shipping and Billing Document/Invoice
You can carry out stock transfers with the delivery and billing function. In this procedure, the stock is transferred in the form of a sale between two plants.
Stock transfers that include deliveries and billing documents/invoices are only possible between plants belonging to different company codes.
If you want to carry out a cross-company-code stock transport order with delivery but without a billing document, you must set the Relevant for Billing (data element FKREL) indicator in Customizing of the item type to "blank" (Not relevant for billing).
When you use the delivery function in Shipping, the whole transaction - from the delivery through billing and invoice verification - is reflected in the system. The following Shipping functions are available for this:
    Delivery:
For example, planning shipping activities, picking, packing
    Billing:
    For example, price determination
Before you can use a stock transport order with the delivery function and a billing document, the plant must be assigned to a vendor. You maintain the vendor - plant assignment in the vendor master record.
If a user enters a vendor when creating a stock transport order, the plant is automatically copied from the vendor master record.
A stock transport order with delivery and billing is a mixture of a standard purchase order and a stock transport order: as in the standard purchase order, when items are entered (standard items with no item category) price determination is carried out and shipping data established; as in the stock transport order, the transfer of stocks from one location to another is monitored.
Stock Transport Order with Valuated and Non-Valuated Sales Order Stock
When entering goods issues for cross-company-code stock transport orders, you can work with both valuated and non-valuated sales order stock (E) using the one-step procedure (movement type 645) and the two-step procedure (movement type 643). In the MRP view of the material master record (MRP 4) you define from which stock material is to be withdrawn by selecting the Dependent requirements indicator for individual and collective requirements. There are three options:
Indicator set to Blank (individual and collective requirements): material is removed from sales order stock
Indicator set to 1 (individual requirements only): material is removed from sales order stock
Indicator set to 2 (collective requirements only): material is removed from unrestricted-use standard stock
    Prices
In Purchasing, the price of the material in question is determined in the usual manner (from the info record, for example).
In SD, pricing is also carried out as normal during the billing process.
Your company has to maintain settings in the Customizing system determining whether stock transfers between two plants should be with or without billing.
You can also determine whether individual users can carry out stock transfers, for example, with or without billing or in either of the two ways.
If you choose Purchase Order ® Create ® Stock Transfer (i.e. a stock transport order without billing) and stock transfer with billing has been defined for the plants in Customizing, a message appears indicating that you should create a standard purchase order.
    Regards
    Ravi Shankar.

  • Cross company code purchasing process?

    Hi Hurus,
I went through previous threads of cross company code purchasing...but got confused..
could u pls all provide sime inputs as what is cross company code purchasing with example...
i will be really grateful to u all..

It is the usual Practice in the Business to have More than One Company Code ..
And Each Comp Code there will be palnt for Business Process..
If Plant A is Under Comp Code A & Plant B under Comp Code B
If Plant A Requires Some material from Plant B , Then It is called Cross Company Purchase..
Bcz The Balance Sheet ( Profit & Loss Statement) will be at Comp Code Level..
Usually This Process is addressed in SAP as a Inter Comapny STOCK TRANSPORT ORDER
The STOCK TRANSPORT ORDER is of Two Types
    1. Intra STO means with in Comp Code
2.Inter STO Between Diff Comp Codes
