Cross tab in Crystal report

Hi There
I need to create 3 cross tabs in one crystal report with different condition, how i can do that?
for example, in one cross tab, i only want to show last year's information, in another one, i want to show this year's information
is there a way i can add some condition with the cross tab?

I think what Ian means is....
Right now you have you cross tab set this way..
                       2008         2009
Location1
Location2
Location3
He wants you to switch rows to cloumns and make the Year your first Group.
Then you'll have
                 Location1       Location2          Location3
2008
2009
This way all your locations show up in your cross-tab.

we are using cross tab to arranging the data (month wise) in crystal report. we have month in string format like jan2008. this field is in column of the cross tab. now we need to arrange the month in sorted order. At Present , the month is displayed as april2007, arpil2008, april2009,may 2007, may 2008, may 2009.
now i want in this order. april 2007, may 2007, april 2008, may 2008, april 2009, may 2009. how to achieve this in crystal report.

Try this,
Create a new formula
For example, "April 2009" is stored as string in {TABLENAME.FIELDNAME}
datevalue("1 "&{TABLENAME.FIELDNAME});
Now you have a date, composed of your year, your Month and 1.
you can use it to order your data by date.
If sometimes there is no blank between month and year ("April2009") try this
local stringvar x;
x:={TABLENAME.FIELDNAME} ;
x:=left(x,length(x)-4)&" "&right(x,4);
x:=replace(x," "," ");

Inserting a calculated column after every column in cross tab, in crystal report 2011

HI,
I want to insert a calculated column after every column i a cross tab . The cross tab shows , sales by region for a number of years , for example from 2007 to 2013. The year can be changed based on the user parameter. How can I do that ?

To calculate the Percentage Change and also to show the Percentage sign, here's what you need to do:
1) Right-click the Calculated Column Header > Calculated Member > Edit ColumnValue Formula and use this code:
cdate(1890,01,01)
If the field used as the column is a datetime field, use this:
cdatetime(1890,01,01,0,0,0)
2) Right-click one of the zero values in the Percentage Column and select Calculated Member > Edit Calculation formula and use this code:

3) Right-click one of the Values in the summary cells > Format Field > Number tab > Customize > Currency Symbol tab > Click the formula button beside 'Currency Symbol' and use this code:
If Year(GridRowColumnValue("Date_field")) = 1890 then

Note: Replace Date_field with the field name you've used as the Column in the Crosstab. The double-quotes ARE required and you should remove any curly braces that CR adds automatically.
4) You might want to use a similar code in the 'Position' formula too.

How to design customize Cross tab in Crystal 9

            i'm having a big problem in designing this format in cross tab, coz it causes a lot of space that i wouldnt need in displaying the report in my application here's i want to show on my report,
this is just a sample data, but this is supposed the designed, or the output in crystal cross tab

the upper is the name of the stores which supposed to be dynamic, each store have 3 column which are the sales,TX and PX, on the left side is date which is my parameter is filtering sales by date, under the last date of the month is the running total followed by discount, net sales and soon.. Now my problem is how i'm going to design it in cross tab format in crystal report 9..any suggestion or other way to do it...

SAP tab in Crystal Reports 2013 issue

We are using SAP Crystal Reports 2013 SP3 to build reports on BEX queries (BW 7.2). Creating a report via 'File' --> New connection --> BW MDX driver works fine, I can select bex queries & cubes and see the data. However SAP provided tab 'SAP' does not work as expected. When adding a new bex query using SAP--> Create new report from a query, I can see the list of queries and select one but it does not open and throws the following error -
"An error occurred while generating a new report templete.
No error"
Using the "File" option any change to the .rpt file forces BO admin to update "DB logon" information in CMC (currently i cannot save .rpt file directly on enterprise from Crystal client due to some issue) and we want to avoid this kind of maintainence using SAP authentication provided by using SAP tab, also the Crysal report prompts when run from BI launch pad request for prompt values twice (once for the report and once to pull list of values for each prompt) which can be avoided using SAP tab. I thought access to dev BW server is fine since the "File" tab works fine. Our BASIS team confirmed BOBJ dev servers have access to BW gateway. Am I missing something here, please help me with your experience and ideas to troubleshoot this as the only solution i could google was from a 2012 SAP recommended article to fix reginfo configuration files on SAP server
I reinstalled Crystal Reports client twice to make sure intallation was not the issue.

Yes reports are working in CR 2013 designer.
Getting Alignment and long spaces between the paragraphs issues even though report has properly designed on designer.
After exporting to pdf getting above errors...

Need help adding data to Preview Tab of Crystal Report

Hi! I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having with a crystal report I use daily. I work in accounting and the crystal report i use pulls data for a ton of different general ledger accounts on our system. However, somehow the crystal report only shows a handful of accounts in the 'preview tab' of my report, which happen to be the accounts I reconcile. I need to add a few accounts to my report, but no one seems to know how to add new accounts to show up on my preview tab. I'm thinking there must be some sort of filter in the crystal, version 9.0 or 11.0. The filter must have been put in place to either only include certain accounts or excluse certain accounts. Help! hi Jeff,
first we need to determine if you have a full version of crystal reports designer (i.e. crw32.exe) or if you're using a version which is embedded into an accounting application.
if you're using the latter then you need to contact the company that manufactures the accounting software.
if you do have a full version of crystal reports then you can go to the Report menu > Selection Formulas > Record and check to see how the record filter is determined. my guess though is that you're using an embedded version.

Dashboard for InfoView. Remove "Main Report" Tab from Crystal Report

When defining a Dashboard for InfoView I would like to be able to display a chart contained in a report without it being in any container. I can remove everything except the Tab Control showing "Main Report". If this cannot be removed then I would like to change "Main Report" to the title of my chart.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When adding a report onto a Dashboard, there should be the option to display it in Full mode, Compact mode, or Report Part mode.
Try right-clicking on the Report Part in your report and and see if it gives you the option to select just the chart. I know this option is available in Web Intelligence, but am not certain is Crystal Reports offer the same functionality.
If you've already selected the Report Part and just have formatting issues, then it should be done on the Crystal Report itself. Make sure that only the chart is included in the part, like Jacquez says.

Data binding cross tab in Crystal 2008 with Xcelsius swf file

I've created a visualisation in Xcelsius and want to bind it to a cross tab in CR2008. The labels appear correctly in the swf visualisation but I get no data. The format of the table in Xcelsius and the cross tab I believe to be the same, covering data formats. I have placed the Xcelsius visualisation in page header "a" with the cross tab in page header "b". The Xcelsius table has been defined in terms of column and row headers as well as data area, so I've done everything that I understand to be correct. In CR2008 I have specified that I use the existing named cross tab.
Does anyone have any idea what I may have missed.

how do i freeze the crosstab header row in the WEB INTELLIGENCE report so that the header remains stationary /freezes at the top and the data can be independently scrolled.(similar to freeze panes in MS Excel).

Add ratio column in Cross Tab

Hi Expert!
I am young of Crystal Report. I have some problems with using cross tab report.
Rows: hour/Floor, Columns: Floor, Summarized Field: Sales
I want to show the result as below:
hour/Floor_____________ Floor1___________Floor2__________Total________Ratio
7h-10h _____________ $500 ___________ $1000 __________$ 1500______75%

I want to add Ratio to show on the right after Total Column.
Can I do like this or not? Or Is there another way to do that with the same result?

Hi, I use Crustal 11.0.
I have a cross Tab. I display the items on the left column and the months horizontally, the items are grouped by category field. The values are the sum of quantities are displayed for each month. Like this:

The problem, I want to add a page header for each page of the report.
When Crystal reports first displays my cross-tab in the designer, CR displays the cross tab in the Report header section. I d like to add text or image for each page and not only at the begining of my Cross-Tab.
If I just add an image or text at the top of the report designer, which is my report header, I get the image or text only on the begining of the 1st page of my report but never in the other following pages.
If I try to work around the problem and move the cross Tab to a group section instead, and then put the Image in the group header, I get what I want, but the problem is that:
The columns header: Jan, February....December are displayed for each group of my report and not only in the beginning of the report. I get something like this:

Hi Divya,
you could do for example in the wdDoInit() of the view
wdContext.currentContextElement().setPicture("picture.gif");
Now you assign this context variable to the Tab using the Tab_header's imageSource-Property. When you click on its value column, you see a button with three dots on it. If you click on this button, you will get all context nodes and attributes for this View. Usable variables are clearly marked, you now choose the one named Picture or what ever name you prefer to use. But it must correspond to the one set in the wdDoInit.
I think setting a picture (not necessarily for the tab-page) is done in one of the excellent tutorials. If you are a newcomer I strongly recommend doing some of the tutorials. I have learned tremendously from them.

Dynamically color to each column in Cross-tab report

I am a newbie in Crystal report,from last few weeks, i am working on cross tab crystal report.i have a requirement to show color dynamically for each column.i am adding an attachment how i want it. i tried dynamic coloring using object field formula but it is showing red color to all data.i want red color data when in 2nd cross tab report data is beyond upper or lower limit in first cross tab table. it will be very helpful if somebody will give me any clue on this.... i read so many articles now it seem like impossible for me..:(

I have attached a sample report that does this. You will need to remove the .txt extension from the attached file to open it as an .rpt file.
Please right click on one of the value fields of the first cross tab in the report > Format Field > Common > Suppress if Duplicated conditional formula.
The nested formula is as follows;

numbervar x:=CurrentColumnIndex;
if GridRowColumnValue ('@limit') = 'lower limit' then

l[x]:= tonumber(CurrentFieldValue))
else if GridRowColumnValue ('@limit') = 'upper limit' then

u[x]:= tonumber(CurrentFieldValue));
false
So it assigns each lower and upper limit value for each client (in the sample it is country) to an array using the cross tabs column index to index the array and it ends in False as we don't actually want it to suppress if duplicated. This nested formula is just used to generate the arrays of upper and lower values.
In the second cross tab if you again right click on one of the value fields > Format Field > Font > Color you will see the following conditional formula;

numbervar array u;
numbervar x;
if not(tonumber(CurrentFieldValue) in l[CurrentColumnIndex] to u[CurrentColumnIndex]) then

So this compaes the current field value to range generated by the 2 arrays and assigns a color based on whether or not it is in the range.

Issue with passing parameters through Java-JSP in a report with cross tab

Can anyone tell me, if there's a bug in Java SDK in passing the parameters to a report (rpt file) that has a cross tab in it ?
I hava report that works perfectly fine
   with ODBC through IDE and also through browser (JSP page)
(ii)    with JDBC in CR 2011 IDE
the rpt file has a cross tab and accpts two parameters.
When I run the JDBC report through JSP the parameters are never considered. The same report works fine when I remove the cross tab and make it a simple report.
I have posted this to CR SDK forum and have not received any reply. This have become a blocker and because of this our delivery has been postponed. We are left with two choices,
   Re-Write the rpt files not to have cross-tabs - This would take significant effort
OR
(ii) Abandon the crystal solution and try out any other java based solutions available.

As I stated earlier, we have been using the latest service pack (12) when I generated the log file that is uploaded earlier.
To confirm this further, I downloaded the complete eclipse bundle from sdn site and reran the rpt files. No change in the behaviour and the bug is reproducible.
You are right about the parameters, we are using {?@Direction} is: n(1.0)
{?@BDate} is: dt(d(1973-01-01),t(00:00:00.453000000)) as parameters in JSP and we get 146 records when we directly execute the stored procedure. The date and the direction parameter values stored in design time are different. '1965-01-01' and Direction 1.
When we run the JSP page, The parameter that is passed through the JSP page, is displayed correctly on the right top of the report view. But the data that is displayed in cross tab is not corresponding to the date and direction parameter. It corresponds to 1965-01-01 and direction 1 which are saved at design time.
You can test this by modifying the parameter values in the JSP page that I sent earlier. You will see the displayed data will remain same irrespective of the parameter.
Further to note, Before each trial run, I modify the parameters in JSP page, build them and redeploy so that caching does not affect the end result.
This behaviour, we observe on all the reports that have cross-tabs. These reports work perfectly fine when rendered through ODBC-ActiveX viewer and the bug is observable only when ran through Java runtime library. We get this bug on view, export and print functionalities as well.
Additionally we tested the same in
    With CR version 2008 instead of CR 2011.
(ii)   Different browsers ranging from IE 7 through 9 and FF 7.
The complete environment and various softwares that we used for this testing are,
OS      : XP Latest updates as on Oct 2011.
App Server: GlassFish Version 3 with Java version 1.6 and build 21
Database server ; SQL Server 2005. SP 3 - Dev Ed.
JTds JDBC type 4 driver version - 1.2.5 from source forge.
Eclipse : Helios along with crystal libraries directly downloaded from SDN site.
I am uploading the log file that is generated when rendering the rpt for view in IE 8

How to insert page number on each page for Cross-Tab report?

Hi,
I have created a Cross-Tab in the section Report Header via Crystal Reports 11.
Now, I want to created more Cross-Tabs, and each page has one Cross-Tab.
So, I insert Report Headers to contain Cross-Tabs. But, the report only shows the page number at the last page.
How to insert page number on each page?

Well, the easiest solution is to place the Cross-tab in the Report Footer, Of course, ONLY if the report contains this single object which I'm assuming is not the case.
If you do not wish to place the cros-tab in the Report Footer, here's what you need to do:
1) Create a formula;
whilereadingrecords;
2) Create a group on this formula. If the report already contains groups, move this formula to the top of the grouping list. It won't affect the other groups or records in any way.
3) Move the Cross-tab from the Report Header to the Group Header1 and suppress Group Footer1
4) Add the Page Number field to the Page Footer

Need horizontal pages of my cross tab in a sub report

How can I avoid Crystal from cutting the horizontal pages of
my cross tab in a subreport.
I tried the suggestion in
Cross Tab Question
but the length of the columns is not fix.
So I tried a division with 170 to 200, but if there are
20 values in the first column and only 4 in the next 30 columns,
my cross tab expandes to much.
I have only enough space for 10 columns.

I also encountered this problem and I have no idea how to create a cross tab manually. Could you please give me some idea on how to create one. The cross tab in my report has a variable number of columns(e.g. the report could produce two crosstabs, the first cross tab has 16 columns and the second one has 4 columns.)
