Crreate Dynamic report in Swing using selectionFormula of ReportViewerBean

I'm working on a desktop application using ReportViewerBean from Crystal Reports XI release 2. I've a working app which can show, print and export reports. What I need now is to pass a selectionFormula to filter the records my report will read.
viewer.setSelectionFormula("{Table.ID}=1");
but nothing happens, I can see all my records in my report.
Plz anyone have a solution of above problem . Plz help me. I am stuck last two weak . Or mail to me at [email protected]

I'm also working at application that do almost the same, and I alse have some problems which I can't cope with. A problems that seem to be easily soluted, but the method that ReportViewerBean gives aren't , IMHO, working.
For example stupid "setShowLogo(bool)" or setPromptOnRefresh(bool) do nothing. I try to manage to pass the parameters to a report, but I just see no solution.
If someone knows an answer, I'd be very thankfull, because I also stuck there.

  • How to use both Static and dynamic Reports in WAD using a single template.

    Hi,
    I have 2 reports - Report1 & Report2. Report1 is a static report with 3 column in it. In WAD user does not want to see the third series in the chart so I have made series3 invisible in the chart.
    I am calling the Report2 via 'SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS' in the button option.
    Now the issue is that, Report2 is a dynamic report which is using a calyear vaiable range. As Report2 is using the template of Report1, Series3 of Report2 also gets hidden.
    Any solution for this?
    Thanks
    Nisha

    Hi Nisha,
    After setting the Report 2 DP thru SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS, you can use one more command SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS on the Chart webitem & edit the Series to make it visible. If there is a way to reset the DP back to Report 1, then you must once again use SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS to hide the Series.
    Or you can use another Chart webitem for Report 2 DP & make the Chart webitem for Report 1 hidden & the Chart webitem for Report 2 visible using SET_ITEM_PARAMETERS after setting Report 2 DP using SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS.

  • Creating Dynamic Reports at Runtime Using JRC

    Hi bobbassen
    You can take a look at the new Preferences API that is shipped along with JDK 1.4. This should help you in saving report structures in one place and help you modify it through a GUI without re-compilation.
    see : http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/guide/lang/preferences.html

  • Is there a solution for dynamic reports and using Denes' Export to Excel?

    Oracle 10.2.0.4.0
    Application Express 3.2.1.00.10
    Hello all!
    I am using Denes Kubicek's Export_Excel_Pkg in my application and I'm having trouble exporting reports based on report regions created using a PL/SQL function body returning SQL query. I realize this is not an Oracle supported package, but was hoping someone here could shed some light on it. When I open up the Excel file, I get an error such as: Report Values Error: ORA-06550: line 22, column 5: PL/SQL: ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis.
    I've searched the forum and already have done as others suggested by modifying the REPLACE on the v_sql variable in Export_Excel_Pkg.Get_Usable_SQL, but it did not work. My assumption is that there is an issue with the value being passed to the wwv_flow_utilities.get_binds function. I could not find documentation on this function, but I'm thinking that it cannot extract the bind variables within a PL/SQL block. The report only works when I have just use SQL with bind variables...doesn't work for PL/SQL. Nor does it work for dynamic SQL reports that use a "lexical" parameter (e.g. using WHERE &p_and_condition.) to build the WHERE clause.
    Has anyone come up with a work-around to this? I somehow need to be able to extract reports based on dynamic SQL (or PL/SQL) to Excel.
    Help is appreciated!
    This is my example of a report based on PL/SQL function:
    DECLARE
      v_sql VARCHAR2(4000);
    BEGIN
      v_sql := q'[SELECT UPPER(t1.olo_name) agency_title,

        AND pro.ROLE_CODE = :F101_DW_ROLE
        AND pro.pos_role_orgs_active_flag = 'Y']';

        v_sql := v_sql || q'[ AND INSTR(':'||']' || v('P_MULTI_OLO') || q'['||':', ':'||t1.olo_code||':') > 0]';
      END IF;
      v_sql := v_sql || q'[GROUP BY UPPER(t1.olo_name), t1.class_code, UPPER(t1.class_title), t1.pay_plan, t1.pay_grade_code ORDER BY t1.class_code ASC, avg_annual_rate]';
      RETURN v_sql;
    END;This is my example using a SQL statement with a lexical parameter:
    SELECT UPPER(t1.olo_name) agency_title,
           t1.class_code,
           UPPER(t1.class_title) class_title,

      WHERE t1.pos_wk = t2.pos_wk
        AND t2.pos_rate_active_flag = 'Y'
        AND t1.ops_ind = 'N'
        AND t1.employee_type IN ('1','2')
        AND pro.ROLE_CODE = :F101_DW_ROLE
        AND pro.pos_role_orgs_active_flag = 'Y'
        &P63_AND_CONDITION.
      GROUP BY UPPER(t1.olo_name),
               t1.class_code,
               UPPER(t1.class_title),
               t1.pay_plan,
               t1.pay_grade_code
    ORDER BY t1.class_code ASC, avg_annual_rateThe *&P63_AND_CONDITION.* value is populated based on a "Before Header" computation under Page Rendering, using the logic below. It is then used by the SQL query defined in the reports region at run time.
    DECLARE
      v_sql VARCHAR2(4000) := NULL;
    BEGIN
      v_sql := ' ';
      IF :P_MULTI_OLO IS NOT NULL THEN
        v_sql := v_sql || q'[ AND INSTR(':'||']' || v('P_MULTI_OLO') || q'['||':', ':' || t1.olo_code || ':') > 0]';
      END IF;
      RETURN v_sql;
    END;

  • Can I create a dynamic report in the server without using a report template

    Hi,
    My company just bought a Crystal Report Server XI and it didn't have a report designer.
    I can't start creating report without the designer.
    The question is can  I generate a dynamic report at runtime (on the crystal report server ) without using report template?
    My project requirement is to use a crystal report server to manage the reports.
    Some client web application will just access this report server.
    I  hope the experts can provide me some guidance.

    Hi Rulix,
    The latest version of CR Server is 2008. Therefore I'm assuming you are using CR Server 2008.
    New in CR 2008 is the .NET report modification software development kit (SDK). The report application server (RAS) SDK is now available for users of Crystal Reports .NET API without the use of a RAS server. Report modification such as changing, adding, or removing database providers, or adding, removing, or creating report objects, parameters, formulas, and sections can be achieved by accessing the RAS SDK through the Crystal Reports .NET SDK.
    Java developers however receive the JRC and Java SDK documentation through the free Crystal Reports for Eclipse download. This product will be updated on a separate schedule from Crystal Reports.

  • How to use dynamic parameter when a report is created using Stored Procedures

    Hi all,
    any one have the idea of how to use dynamic parameter in crystal report XI R2
    when report is created using Stored Procedure.
    Regards
    shashi kant chauhan

    Hi
    You can create an SQL command in Database Expert > Expand your datasource > Add command
    Then enter the SQL query that will create the list of values to supply to the user
    eg select field1,field2 from table
    Then edit the parameter of the report.  These will be the SP parameters adn can be seen in field explorer.
    Change the parameter type to Dynamic
    Under the word Value click on Click here to add item
    Scroll down to your Command and select one of the values that you want to appear in the list
    e.g field1
    Then click on the Parameters field - this is essential to create the param
    You can edit other options as required
    That should do it for you.
    I must say that i use CR 2008 connected to Oracle 10g SP, but i reckon this will work for SQL DB and CR XI as well
    Best of luck

  • Hard code accounts using the dynamic report templates?

    Anyone ever been able to hard code accounts using the dynamic report templates?
    How about getting the Property name/value fields to work?

    Hi,
    No, this is not possible.
    In Dynamic Report templates (which are not based on EVDRE function in version 7 and below), the only thing you can do is to not use any expansion at all and to list your specific accounts on the layout itself. Or to expand your accounts based on a dimension property.
    In version 7.5, all Dynamic Templates for Report and Input Schedules will use EVDRE function.
    Hope this helps.

  • Reports tool of using Dynamic Report Templates or live reporting

    Since both of them can be used to create report, what is the main differnece between them? do I have to use the live reporting if I want the report can be access though the web?

    JW,
    You are correct, if you need "real-time" interactive reports on the web then you would develop using live reporting.  If you want, you can develop reports using the dynamic report templates in Excel and publish them to the web as PDF or HTML docs, but once they get published to the web the data is static.  Note that book publishing of static reports can be scheduled within BPC so that you can regenerate nightly to the web portal if you wanted to.
    I would say most people would develop reports using dynamic report templates because Excel gives you more functionality for calculations, formating etc.
    Live Reporting on the web is more limited for formating etc.
    Additionally I always find that as soon as someone opens a report from the web they immediatly want to print it....  so I usually opt for reports being developed in Excel (Dynamic Report Templates) then Book Publish with the PDF option, (PDF gives you the best control regarding print ranges).
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Brian

  • Dynamic SQL Command Queries Using Parameters

    Post Author: tdoman
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I'm using Crystal Reports 11 and am trying to dynamically build part of the "Where" clause in the SQL command query to filter data on the server before the results are sent to the client. I'm doing this to decrease the load time of my reports by not having to send a large set of data to the client, then filter the results on the client side.
    I want to create a parameter list that is dynamically generated from a table in a database and allows you to select mutiple values from that list. For example: I have two tables. One employee table and one employee type table. The employee table lists all employees and their related employee types (full-time, part-time, and contractor). The employee type table lists the employee types that will dynamically be loaded into the parameters list.
    Employee Table
    ID    Name       TypeID
    1     Bob          2
    2     Steve        1
    3     John         3
    4     Bill            1
    Employee Type Table
    ID   Type
    1     Full-Time
    2     Part-Time
    3     Contractor
    Assuming the user selects u2018Full-Timeu2019 and u2018Contractoru2019 from the parameter list, the SQL command query I want to generate is as follows:
    SELECT *
    FROM emp, emp_type
    WHERE emp.ID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in (u20181u2019, u20183u2019)
    I tried building the following SQL command query so it would dynamically replace {?EmpType} with the IDu2019s of the types the user selected but it doesnu2019t work. Any ideas how to fix this?
    SELECT *
    FROM emp, emp_type
    WHERE emp.ID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in ({?EmpType})

    Post Author: tdoman
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    btw...I just realized I had a typo in my "where" clause of the previous example. It should have been like so:WHERE emp.TypeID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in (u20181u2019, u20183u2019)  satish_nair31:
    Instead of passing the filter condition as parameter it would be fine if you pass it by ReportViewer.SelectionFormula Property.
    The selection formula property of report viewer control will dynamically append the where condition with the SQL value. You will pass the filter condition as per the syntax of language supported by crystal reports.I believe using the ReportViewer.SelectionFormula property you are referring to is only available if I'm loading the report through a VB application. If this is true, then this option will not work for me because I'm loading the report in a browser from the Crystal Report web server and currently don't have a VB application that can load the report. If I did, then I could dynamically build the SQL string using VB then pass it to the Crystal Report on the fly.But I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to do it without loading the report using VB. Please correct me if I'm wrong on these assumptions.

  • How can i create an dynamic report in Java

    hello everybody,
    I want to make dynamic reports in Java. Report contain data and images with good layout.. such as crystal reports presentation..
    Reports fields decided at run time or we can say that it is generated according to user requirement...
    can it is possible in Java. If it is then which tool is better for it..
    please suggest me.. this is very urgent requirement for me...

    i don't know what types of tools are avaiable in market... Tools for what? You still didn't tell us what exactly you want to do.
    i just imagin that
    "An user create a database dynamically on server
    databaseNobody "dynamically creates a database".
    and he decide reports desgin according to
    his requirement..... we provide an control for this
    type possibilities....."
    so this is question is build in my mind.. so i
    forward this question to this forums..
    I am just going to check the physibility of my mind
    imagination...Feasibility you mean. IMHO, the feasibility of creating that stuff yourself is very low. Reinventing the wheel usually doesn't make it better, and it's likely to be more expensive to pay you for creating an inferior solution (not because of lack of skills, but simply because the available products had a few years time to grow, feature-wise) than to simply buy the licenses. Look at Crystal Reports or JFreeChart or Jasper Reports. Or use Google to look up J2EE-based reporting libraries. There might be more.
    Which of these is best, I don't know, I never used any of those. Also, the definition of "best" changes with the requirements. What's better, a Ferrari or a truck?

  • Can we set the dynamic data source when using getReportParameters() ?

    Hello!
    I have a report where one of its parameters refers to a list of values (LOVs). This list of values is an SQL Query type. When the data source used in the report is defined in the BI Publisher server, I'm able to get the report parameters using the getReportParameters() function in my application. However, if the data source is not defined the function throws an exception, which is understandable.
    I decided to dynamically set the data source so that even if the data source used by the report is not defined in the BI Publisher server, it still will be able to get the LOVs for the parameter. I tried setting the JDBCDataSource of the dynamicDataSource for the ReportRequest object that I passed to the getReportParameters() function. Please see the sample code below:
    reportRequest.dynamicDataSource = new BIP10.BIPDataSource();
    reportRequest.dynamicDataSource.JDBCDataSource = new BIP10.JDBCDataSource();
    setReportDataSource(reportRequest.dynamicDataSource.JDBCDataSource, connectstr, jdbc, dc); //function to set the values for JDBCDataSource object
    reportParams = webrs.getReportParameters(reportRequest, uid, pwd); //call the getReportParameters
    I was expecting this to work as this is what I did to dynamically set the data source before calling the runReport function. So, my question is -- can we set the dynamic data source when using getReportParameters() ? I tried this both in versions 10g and 11g. It does not seem to work on both versions.
    Regards,
    Stephanie

    report_id column of apex_application_page_ir_rpt can help us uniquely identify each saved report.
    We can assign this report_id value to a page item and this page item can be put in the Report ID Item text box of the Advanced section of the Report Attributes page of the IR.
    This should load the saved report identified by report_id and you can get rid of javascript
