CRVS2010 Beta - Selection Formula

I have some reports created with CR4VS2008 that normally work in VS2010+CR4VS2010 (after the standard conversion of the VS solution), but if I edit without changes the .rpt in VS2010 and than save the file in the new CR format, the selection formula hard coded in the rpt no longer works (the selection formula is very simple:  {table.field} = 'ALL' ).
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Don,
I solved my problem.
I changed in report and in code from rpt.RecordSelectionFormula to rpt.DataDefinition.SavedDataSelectionFormula and now it works.
// CS code
MyReport rpt = (MyReport )MyWindowsForm.crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource;
// Does not work in CR4VS2010 Beta2 but works in CR4VS2008
rpt.RecordSelectionFormula = "{TABLE.FIELD} = 'MY FILTER VALUE'";
// Works in CR4VS2010 Beta2
rpt.DataDefinition.SavedDataSelectionFormula= "{TABLE.FIELD} = 'MY FILTER VALUE'";
Hope this help.

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Database login fails after setting select formula

    I am working through how to call the report and have it print programatically.  I was able to get it to print with the saved data, but as soon as i add a recordSelectionFormula to it, it fails saying the login is incorrect.  I have searched the forums and tried the different resolutions some people have used, but it still fails for me.  What about the select formula would cause this issue?  below is the code i am using.  Please let me know what I am missing, thank you.
                ReportDocument crDoc = new ReportDocument();
                crDoc.Load("c:

                sfVal = "R&S COLUMBIA";
                Object prncases = new Object();
                prncases = false;
                crDoc.SetParameterValue("shipFrom", sfVal);
                crDoc.SetParameterValue("prnCases", prncases);
                crDoc.PrintOptions.PrinterName = "
    wc-printserver
    wccsr";
                crDoc.PrintToPrinter( 1, false, 0, 0 );
                crDoc.Dispose();

    Hello,
    Copy the record selection formula from the Designer and paste that into your code, then use a report without the record selection formula saved in it and test again.
    Next step is what database and driver are you using? Joinbuilder registry keys were for old legacy drivers. This may be an issue with the driver configuration.
    ALSO, don't use "localhost" as your Server name or DSN name etc. Try replacing it with the actual DB server/machine name:
    crDoc.SetDatabaseLogon("user", "password", "localhost", "shipmgmt");
    Thanks again

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Sporadic "This field name is not known. Details: errorKind"

    I am running CRVS2010 Beta 2 on the VS2010 trial version. I have been converting reports to this new version, but sometimes I get the error:
    This field name is not known. Details: errorKind Error in File XX11X1 {1X1111X1-1XX1-1X1X-111X-11111111X11X}.rpt: Error in formula tot-appr: '{@commited0}+{XX11X.AMT1} + {XX11X.AMT2} + {XX11X.AMT3} + {XX11X.AMT4} + {XX11X.AMT_FUT} ' This field name is not known. Details: errorKind
    I have done a lot of searching on this forum, Google, and Bing, but it seems everyone who receives this error message has just created the report or moved it to a new database, and the error is caused by a mis-pointed formula. I don't have that problem: in my case, the report usually works.
    I have tried querying the Oracle database immediately after receiving this error, and all the fields mentioned do exist, exactly where they ought to. The problem never exists when logging on with my own account, and sometimes works when logging on with other accounts, but I have not figured out a way to predict whether it will work or not.
    I have four reports I am running: one always works, two get this sort of error sometimes, and one (which is formatted differently) always shows up without errors, but is sometimes inexplicably blank. I cannot figure out in what way the report that always works is different from the two with this error (aside from obvious issues of layout and querying different tables, I mean).
    I'm at a loss for where to look next. I know this information won't be enough as-is, but I hope that your clarifying questions can help me find the error.
    Thank you for your consideration.
    EDIT: changed database names in case I get in trouble for revealing proprietary information, even though I don't think it's likely

    Hello,
    Are you using a data Set? I believe the System.Data.OracleClient is the .NET Oracle client but not sure and not sure how reliable it is or what it's based on.
    What happens if you create a new report using the DataDirect OLE DB provide or Oracles OLE DB provide or use CR Oracle native driver?
    In the Connection Wizard select Oracle, that's the native driver, then when set log on info you just specify the Server name, User and PW, leave the database blank.
    Then what API's are you using to connect/set the log on info?
    I'm guessing that the error you are getting is likely an indexing problem in the table names etc. but not sure. if you search in this forum on "crlogger.dll" you could enable our database logging component and it may give you more info on what the cause is.
    Thank you

  • CRVS2010 beta - Date field from database does not display in report

    Hi there - can someone please help?!
    I am getting a problem where a date field from the database does not display in the report viewer (It displays on my dev machine, but not on the client machines...details given below)
    I upgraded to VS 2010
    I am using the CRVS2010 Beta
    My development machine is Windows 7 - and so is my fellow developer's
    We are using Microsoft SQL Server 2000
    We run the queries within VS and then we send the data table to VS using .SetDataSource
    We have a few reports which display the date on our dev machines (whether we run the EXE or from within Visual Studio)
    When we roll out to the client machines (running Windows XP SP3) then everything works, except that the date does not display (on quite a few reports)
    This is the only real issue I have had - a show stopper for me
    The rest works well - any input will be greatly appreciated

  • CRVS2010 Beta 2 Pie chart legend displaying "_e_Total:1_n_pseudoloc_"

    Instead of displaying "Total" at the bottom of my pie chart legend I am getting the following text: "_e_Total:1_n_pseudoloc_"
    The values and percentages calculate correctly, but the label is unusual.

    Hello,
    I have the same problem with my pie chart. My report was fine before I did my update to CRVS2010 Beta 2. I was using crystal report 11.5.
    My report is really simple. I have a resume chart that you can drilldown. Each drilldown show the same chart for the selected
    item.
    I'm using Windows 7 Professionnel 64 bit in french (canada version).

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Cannot find documentation on what needs to be installed

    My question is very elementary but I do not see anything in the release notes, etc. that tells me which of the 3 install files I need to iinstall or do I need to install all of them.
    1 - SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010
    2 - SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4 (32-bit)
    3 - SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4 (64-bit)
    I want access to the WPF component in VS 2010 on a Win 7 64bit machine
    Do I install all 3?? In what order? 1 - 2 - 3 as I've shown?
    I have Crystal 2008 installed on my machine. Must I uninstall it to use the Crystal VS 2010 beta on that machine.
    To date I tried installing just #1 above. I went into my VS 2010 selected the WPF and it blew up VS 2010, I tried doing the same with Winform and it also took out VS 2010.
    I have since uninstalled everything. Could someone explain the procedure(s) for making the beta available to VS 2010 with a little more detail.
    Thanks

  • CRVS2010 beta 2 - header underline adding spaces

    Hello,
    I'm noticing that headers that are 2 words and the second word is a number, there is a space/break in the underline
    For example Address 1 instead of Address 1.
    I reported this in beta 1 (see CRVS2010 beta - header underline adding spaces) and hoped that it would have been fixed.
    I'm wondering if it is on the list of things to fix for the final release.
    Thank you.

    I assume you are referring to the embedded designer's preview is breaking the underline betweeen the word and the number (ie: Address 1).  I am able to reproduce with the CR for VS 2010 Beta2.
    I found that the WinForms and ASP.NET CR runtime viewers do not have this issue but the WPF viewer does have this issue.
    I will log a bug for both issues.
    As a potential workaround, instead of underlining the field, format the object (right-click the object and select Format Object), on the Border tab, set the Bottom line style to "Single".  This is not ideal but it may work for you.

  • CRVS2010 Beta - embedded report not showing

    I have a large number of reports which I have written for a client over the years with various versions of Crystal (starting with V5 I think).
    Currently they are running Crystal Enterprise X but have made the decision that they wish to shift to Visual Studio.
    I have been attempting to cut my teeth on re-writing reports in Visual studio and am struggling.  I then decided to port the existing crystal reports across from the Enterprise environment to Visual Studio.
    I have the CRVS2010 Beta installed with the 64-bit runtime on a Server 2008 platform.
    I have testing simpler Crystal Reports within Visual Studio (File | New | Project | Crystal Reports Application) and the simplest seem to publish with no difficulty.
    However I have just attempted to bring a report containing a sub-report and while the end result seemed to publish fine with no errors, only the main report output shows when the published Visual studio application is run.
    I haven't been able to find anything on this in the forum, so would greatly appreciate it if anyone can offer some assistance.
    Slightly off-topic, I have noted that when the Crystal Report is imported into the Visual Studio designer the database seems to get dropped.  I then have to reconnect via ODBC and re-select the tables after which things seem to run fine.  Is this to be expected ?
    Many thanks

    I have been checking further on this issue.
    If I take the report in a fully functional state saved out of Crystal X and import it into the Visual Studio 2010 environment, the functionality of the subreport appears compromised.
    Out of interest (and remembering that the report has been upgraded from Crystal X) I located the Crystal component in the Visual Studio project folder and opened it within Crystal X.  The subreport now no longer runs under the original Crystal X report writer.
    Something appears to have happened between Crystal X and CRVS2010 Beta.
    I'll have a look and see if I can identify what has happened to it.

  • Record Selection Formula and Parameters

    We've currently upgraded from Crystal Reports 9 to Crystal Reports 2008 (SP3).  In our legacy reports, we use the "record selection formula editor" to filter the results of our report.  This is an example of one of our formulas:
    {DOVREP_TIME_AND_EXPENSE.ITEM_DATE} >= {?FROMDATE} and {DOVREP_TIME_AND_EXPENSE.ITEM_DATE} <= {?TODATE}
    In this formula, we pass in the FROMDATE and TODATE from our .NET applicaiton to filter on dates.  After upgrading to Crystal Reports 2008 (SP3) this no longer works.  I get an error "Error in formula Record_Selection".  It looks as if it was having issues parsing the formula.  If I replace my parameters (?FROMDATE/?TODATE) with hard coded dates it works fine (It also worked fine in Crystal Reports 9) so from what I can tell adding the parameters causes parsing errors. Also in the error it shows the formula and it's defintily messed up:
    ((( NOT {DOVREP_TIME_AND_EXPENSE.ITEM_DATE} >= {?FROMDATE}) AND ( NOT {DOVREP_TIME_AND_EXPENSE.ITEM_DATE} <= {?TODATE})))
    I'm not sure why it is adding the NOT to the formula or the extra brackets...
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Mike

    David,
    First off, the way I determined it was the beta dlls was that I installed CR 2008 SP3 runtimes fresh and ran my report.  I didn't experience any issues.  I then took the beta dlls and replaced the originals, rebooted and ran my report again.  The report failed to execute as I described above.  I then took my backup of the SP3 dlls and replaced the beta dlls, rebooted and tested again.  I worked fine with the original dlls.
    The formula that I was passing into that report was a bit more complex than I first described.  I had a few other conditions in the formula that checked for a project ID.  I tested it with just the dates and there wasn't any issues (as in your example), as soon as I added additional parameters that's when the "NOT"'s were included.  Could you try your test again with a few additional parameters?  Here is an example of what I was passing into the report:
    ((({DOVREP_TIME_AND_EXPENSE.ITEM_DATE} >= {?FROMDATE}  )   AND   ( {DOVREP_TIME_AND_EXPENSE.ITEM_DATE} <= {?TODATE})))  AND (({%PROJECT_ID}=99 OR {%PROJECT_ID}=113 OR {%PROJECT_ID}=112 OR {%PROJECT_ID}=103 OR {%PROJECT_ID}=107 OR {%PROJECT_ID}=111)))

  • Pass the results from a selection formula to the default values for a parameter field

    Crystal 10 u2013 SQL 2000
    I want to create a parameter field that will display all of our IT Departments so the end user can select the one they want to run the report against, such as IT-Security, IT-Network, etc. about 40 in all.  BUT I donu2019t want this to be a static list where I type in all 40 depts in the default list, I was hoping I could do something more dynamic such a formula field that says u201C if {group.name startswith u2018ITu2019 then {group.name}u201D and then have the parameter field pull from this source.
    Iu2019m sure this has been answered in a previous post but Iu2019m not finding it.  I see stuff on creating a record selection formula such as u2018if {?group} like u2018IT-Secur*u2019 thenu2026u201D  but this leaves too much room for error if people donu2019t type the name correctly.  Maybe Iu2019m not using the record selection formula correctly?  Sorry if I offend anyone but I just upgraded from 8 to 10 and thought for sure this option would be in 10, perhaps built right into the parameter default value page where you can place in select criteria but NOTHING has changed.

    if you are creating the parameters in the rpt file, it will only pull values you enter, or directly from the database
    in the record selection you can do something like this, so if they only enter the first 2 characters it should pick up only the IT etc.
    (if eft(,2)={?parameter} then true else ={?parameter})

  • How do I use a running total within a selection formula?

    I am developing a report within Crystal Reports 2008.  My goal is to identify any accounts that have zero usage for at least six months in this current year.  I have account number, meter size, read date, usage, and a running total/subtotal by account.
    Here is what the data looks like in the report
    ACCTNO     METER SIZE   READ DATE/TIME               READ_USAGE    Counter

    My report shows all accounts that have zero usage.  I want to filter the report to only show the accounts that have at least six zero usage reads.  I thought I could add a running total, sum it, and filter the data by using the selection formulas.  Unfortunately I keep getting an error message saying "this field cannot be used becuase it is being evaluated later."  Any help would be appreciated.  This is the first report I have created using crystal.
    Edited by: smwdrw2 on Oct 28, 2009 4:29 PM

    You could Conditionally suppress the account numbers where your running total is less than 6
    You will probably have to put your account number summaries in the group footer, instead of the header.
    Then:
    go to the section expert, click on the group footer for the account number, on the right, next to the word "Suppress" click on the box that says "X-2". In the formula put
    IF<6 then True
    Save and close
    The only way this would not work for you is if you have some sort of grand total that you don't want to include the other groups in.

  • "Missing parameter values." Error when setting record selection formula

    Setup - VS 2008, CR 2008 (v12.0), Win XP & C#.Net
    I have a form which loops through all parameters (non-linked to sub reports, so only off the main report) and allows users to enter the values for each parameter. When hitting the preview button, I loop through all of the saved values, set the parameter field values and then add any additional filters into the recordselection formula as below. The problem i'm having is that the ReportDocument.HasRecords returns true if the ReportDocument.RecordSelectionFormula doesn't filter out every result.
    For example, I have a list of customers and if I set the selection formula to filter out a specific customer, ReportDocument.HasRecors returns true, if I set the selection formula to filter something that doesn't exist i.e. customer "xk39df", the moment this line of code runs "ReportDocument.RecordSelectionFormula = rsFormula;" - ReportDocument.HasRecors returns the following exception as opposed to "False".

                ReportDocument.RecordSelectionFormula = rsFormula;

    Hi,
    The report has it's own ADO Datasource set in crystal reports, so I just pass the log on information to the report object before doing anything else.
    this.DataSourceConnections[0].SetConnection("ServerName", "Database", "sa", "Password");
    I then do a refresh before applying the parameter values (I do this because the user can preview the report more than one time by using a preview button on the parameter form without re-loading the report object)
    this.Refresh();
    Then I set all parameter values followed by setting the recordselection formula.

  • Problems with the selection formulas in CR

    Hi Experts! I need help...
    I made a report using Crystal Reports, the problem is when I run it on Crystal Reports, it shows me some information, but when I make a preview in SAP Business One or import it to SAP Business One , some information dissapear, I think it´s because of the Selection formulas but I don't know how to solve it ...
    The report come from a view in SQL and this is my selection formula:
    if month({vwComisiones.Fechafactura})=month({vwComisiones.FechaPago}) then
    ({?fechaini}<= {vwComisiones.Fechafactura} and {vwComisiones.Fechafactura}<={?fechafin})
    -- I just need the Invoices that have been paid on the same month --
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Have you tried omit IF like below:
    month({vwComisiones.Fechafactura})=month({vwComisiones.FechaPago}) and {?fechaini}<= {vwComisiones.Fechafactura} and {vwComisiones.Fechafactura}<={?fechafin}

  • Report Selection Formula Error with Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5

    Hello,
    My name is Carlos, and I would like to report a defect found in the Crystal Reports 2008 SP 3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime that is affecting the majority of our reports.  As well, I would like to ask if there is a simple workaround that does not involve updating hundreds of reports.
    The issue is that the runtime engine incorrectly returns the report selection formula.  I have included sample code showing what I mean.
    To reproduce;
    1. Create a simple report that has a date range filter like:
      ({Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE})
      AND ({Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE})
    2. Create a test app as follow that loads a report using the following code:
    ReportDocument rpt = null;
    try
      rpt = new ReportDocument();
      rpt.Load("TestReport.rpt");
      this.txtMessage.Text = string.Format(
        "ReportSelectionFormula:{0}{1}",
         Environment.NewLine,

    3.  Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006341772011E/cr2008fp35_redist.zip]..
    4.  Execute the app.
    At this stage, the screen shows
    ReportSelectionFormula:
    (   (  NOT  {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE}  )   AND   (  NOT  {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE}  )   )
    The expected value is:
    ReportSelectionFormula:
    (   (  {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE}  )   AND   (  {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE}  )   )
    If we were to repeat the same test above but use the Crystal Reports 2003 SP3 runtime (i.e. no Fix Pack), which can be dowloaded from [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123592010E/cr2008sp3_redist.zip], we would get the correct report selection formula. A side-effect for this incorrect report selection formula is a runtime exception complaining about an errorkind and a boolean being expected.
    Do you know if there is any workaround that I can apply in code, perhaps a different Fix Pack?  Is there a Fix Pack expected to be released soon?  It is not practical for us to update our reports and use a different style in the record selection formula because we have many such reports, and our customers probably have even more.
    Thank you.
    -Carlos.

    Already a known issue, here's the [KB 1584095 - A boolean NOT is added at the beginning of a record selection formula when the report is loaded by the Crystal Reports .NET SDK |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533383334333033393335%7D.do]

  • Exporting to PDF - Selection Formula confirmation message

    Hi,
    We're using Crystal Reports 11 from within a Delphi 7 application which, on a timed schedule, loads data into a MS SQL server database and generates and prints or e-mails a report of the data loaded in PDF format. This process should be automatic and not require monitoring but we're now seeing the report generation being stalled by a confirmation message appearing when the report is generated. The message reads:
    Confirm
    Selection Formula for {Report Name} to Printer   // or To Export
    {Selection Formula Here}
    Continue?
    (RETRY=edit with Crystal, All=copy to clipboard)
    Buttons: Yes No Retry All
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Garry

    I'm wondering if this could be easily fixed by going to the links panel and then use the "Copy Links To" and set up a new links folder for the job.
    That would copy all the links and then relink to that folder - right?
    Perhaps that's a quick way to get rid of this problem.
    It could be anything though - I've had weird, but not this problem, of files that are on a server can cause link problems.
    I don't know - it's a one of those have to sit down and look at the files to see what's going on situation - like Bob already said.
