Cryptocme2.dll - conflict with other applications

Hi,
A few machines in our firm have ArcServe Manager installed. This is causing a dll conflict with Crystal Reports 2010. The dll in question is cryptocme2.dll.
If I rename that dll in the Arcserve folder, the crystal report can render without problems. This Arcserve is in the Windows Path environtment variable, however shouldn't crystal reference it's own?
We originally thought it was an install issue only - Error 1904 when installing Crystal Reports 2010 Redistributable however it turns out this is a runtime issue as well.
Can we please fix Crystal Reports so that it references it's own cryptocme2.dll?
Thanks

Hi
CR for VS2005 is already installed on my workstation.
When installing CR for VS2010 SP1, the following error message pops up :
Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\ReportPromptEMF.dll failed to register.  HRESULT -2147023898.
If I rename the cryptocme2.dll file which is in the path (environment variable), the installation can end successfully.
As long as I keep that dll renamed, everything works fine.
However when I restore the original file name, I can't even open a rpt in design mode ("unable to open document" error message from SAP Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer)
And at runtime :
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID  {F734A321-8381-4FFD-A614-139E8906DC83} failed due to the following error : 800703e6.
Hope this will help
Thank you for your time

  • How can I communicate with other applications from my Java application?

    Hello,
I need help about how can i communicate with other application(say textpad.exe/wordpad.exe/MS word.exe) from my Java program.
More precisely, I need to know how i can get the current position of the cursor whether it is in any .txt/.doc files, then I may write some text in my java application and click a button and then my program will append the line(string) in that position of the file which is running under another appliction(Notepade.exe/MSword.exe).
    Please provide me some help.

I may be wrong (and anyone, please correct me if so), but Java may not be the best tool for something such as this. I envision that you'd have to make some OS calls such as calls to the user32.dll, and while this can be done through the JNI, you'd still have to have a C or C++ program doing the dirty work.

  • Can i use Airplay with other applications different to iTunes on my Mac Pro?

    Hi,
I bought a Mac Pro 13' Retina Display two weeks ago and today i bought a Bose SoundTouch 20 and i connected both to my home network by ethernet cord. when i try to use applications like iTunes to send the sound of a song from mac to bose it work perfect, but when i try to do the same with spottily (i downloaded the app for my mac) simply doesn't work and don't know why. Another issue is that either can't send the sound of the movies and videos from mac to bose (i already try this using this configuration: send by airplay the movie to apple tv and from apple tv send the sound to bose, all work perfect because all was connected with ethernet cord).
So the question is, Anyone know why the Airplay function only work with iTunes and with other applications simply doesn't?

AirPlay only works with iTunes for Mac OS, iOS devices, and Apple TV.
Not third party (non Apple) apps such as Spotify
If the Bose Sound Touch supports Bluetooth, you may be able to stream music to the Mac or Apple TV. That's for sound, not video.

  • MathScript Nugget #19: Sharing Data With Other Applications

In MathScript Nugget #18, we looked at ways to transfer data between MathSript and the rest of LabVIEW. In today's nugget, we'll see some of the different ways that MathScript can share data with programs besides LabVIEW.
The most common way to share data between programs is by reading and writing files. MathScript supports several file formats that are recognized by other programs. The ones we'll touch on in this nugget are MLV, MAT, CSV, TXT, TDM(S) and XLS.
The easiest way to bring data into MathScript is with the 'load' function. The help topic for this function does a great job of explaining it. The load function will bring in a group of variables that have been saved to a file earlier. The most common formats that load supports are:
MLV files created with MathScript save function
MAT files created with  version 6.0 or earlier of The MathWorks, Inc. MATLAB® software
TDM and TDMS binary measurement files created in LabVIEW or DIAdem
The load and save functions are great for storing off a group of variables to be used again in a future session of MathScript. You can do the same thing using the Operate>>Load Data... and Operate>>Save Data... menu items in the MathScript Window. These support the same file formats as load and save.
The best formats to use if you want to share data with other applications are TXT, CSV, and XLS. MathScript has special funcitons to read and write each of these formats. The functions, such as fread_csv and fwrite_xls, are all members of the support class.
The last way to read and write data files with MathScript is to use a custom file format. MathScript supports common file operations like fread and fwrite. You can use these functions to create or import files of any binary or textual format.
There's one last way to move data out of MathScript without using files. You can copy data from the MathScript Window or MathScript Probe as tab-delimited text to your OS clipboard. You can then paste this text to a text editor or spreadsheet program.
Hopefully now you have an idea of the many ways to move data into and out of MathScript.

TDM and TDMS are also excellent file formats to share your data with other applications. National Instrumenst offers free libraries and add-ins to access TDM and TDMS files with e.g. Excel, OpenOffice Calc or The MathWorks, Inc. MATLAB® software. Have a look at this page to

  • Using AirTunes with other applications

What I want to do is to stream the audio output from the 2 laptops in my house (MacBooks with Leopard) wirelessly to a hi-fi. I know an AirPort Express will do this with iTunes, but I don't think it will work with other applications, which is what I want.
Am I right, and is there any cost-effective way to do what I want to do (Apple solution or not)?
    Thanks in advance.

  • When I'm using a browser (like Safari) in Yosemite, how can I shrink it and share my desktop with other applications?

I have an iMac, and after installing Yosemite (OS 10.10), all my browsers (like Safari) no longer share the screen with other applications, like Word or even Calculator.  How can I shrink Safari (or any browser) and share my desktop with other applications?

When I'm using any browser (at the moment, it's Safari), I am unable to resize the window.  The browser BECOMES my entire desktop.  And if I open another application, suddenly the browser vanishes to the right, so I can only see the other app.  AND my dock disappears into a solid black space below the screen, which I can penetrate with my curser (after dragging the curser back and forth above and below the black space until the dock eventually reappears.  But if I select any app in the browser to open, then Safari vanishes instantly to the right of the screen.  I've tried to resize Safari (and Firefox and Chrome) by moving the curser to the bottom right of the browser, but that old standby doesn't seem to work anymore.  The browser takes up all of the screen, except for a small portion of the top, where my curser can reveal Safari's old menus, and the bottom of the screen, which is entirely black until I can locate my dock by dunking the curser up and down in the black ooze.
I really want the old convenience of my Mac, where several programs can open side by side, but Yosemite seems to have precluded that possibility.  What can I do?

Yes, mission control threw everything across the screen (which is way beyond anything I could figure out), but the real answer I needed came from Apple Tech Support, which I finally called, and I learned about the two arrows in the top righthand corner, when I held the cursor there, which turned blue and resized and released the browser from total domination of the screen.  Those two, opposite-pointing arrows allowed me to shrink the browser and let other applications be seen on the desktop.  But thank you for extending a helpful tip, which I can use another time.

  • CS4 Design Premium conflicts with other programs

I have installed CS4 Design Premium with great difficulty on a Windows XP service pack 3 machine. I also got to about 90% and the program would stop. I eventually installed Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and InDesign individually. It appeared that all programs were working except Illustrator. When I tried to launch  Illustrator I received the following:  "Illustrator.exe Bad Image  The application or DLL C:\Programs Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4\Support Files\Contents\Windows\Alcid.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check against your installation diskette."
I ended up uninstalling Illustrator. I was going to reinstall it but then I started having other issues.
Since installing, everything slowed to a crawl. Internet Explorer crashes, even Notebook crashes. There seems to be some sort of conflict with CS4 causing instability. If Adobe support was available I would call them. They are unavailable until October 14. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I am going to uninstall all of CS4 in hopes of stabilizing my computer. Other than that I don't know what to try.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
    Windows XP Service Pack 3
    2.80 GHz
    1GB RAM
Device drivers are up to date

I probably will buy more RAM but I don't think that is my problem. I have the conflicts without even opening any of the Creative Suite Programs. Something running in the background is probably the cause. What does Creative Suites run in the background? I uninstalled the Media Player. I am wondering if it is related to Acrobat 9 Pro, Acrobat.com, or Adobe Drive? Do I need Acrobat.com? What for? What is Adobe Drive?
By the way I have over 400 GBs of hard drive space available. When I look at the RAM usage it is OK. Thanks for any help.

  • PDFFILT.dll conflicts with AcroRdIF.dll?

Note: the post which led up to this post is here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1037849. Anyone truly interested in the subject may want to read that post first!
Both posts refer to the following installations on a computer:
    Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit
    Adobe Reader 10.1.3
    Windows Search 4 (WS4)
    XP's Indexing Service
    Adobe's IFilter 6
    Outlook 2007.
    Background.
    1. Adobe Reader automatically instals AcroRdIF.dll, and associated .dlls, for use by WS4 in indexing content of text-based Adobe files (.acrobatsecuritysettings, .fdf. .pdf, pdfxml, .xdp, .xfdf). In the absence of it, or any other installation providing a filter recognised as equivalent to Adobe reader's, in WS4's File Types list against "pdf" "File Properties filter" or "Plain Text Filter" appears. With Adobe Reader installed, "PDF Filter" appears against the file types in question. The Adobe .dlls observed here running with AcroRdIF.dll under WS4's searchfilterhost.exe are:
    ACE.dll
    ACE.dll
    AcroRd32.dll
    AcroRdIF.dll
    AdobeXMP.dll
    AGM.dll
    AGM.dll
    AXE8SharedExpat.dll
    BIB.dll
    BIB.dll
    BIBUtils.dll
    CoolType.dll
    CoolType.dll
    JP2KLib.dll.
I have left the several instances of some them as seen in Process Explorer.
With no other Adobe filter installed, AcroRdIF.dll can also appear as running under Indexing Service's cidaemon.exe. However, it does no job there. Content of Adobe files is not indexed.
    2. Adobe's IFilter 6 enables the Indexing Service in XP Pro SP1 to index content of Adobe text-based files. With Adobe Reader (or Acrobat) not present on the system, but Adobe's IFilter 6 installed, these Adobe .dlls are observed running under Indexing Service's cidaemon.exe:
    atmlib.dll
    ACE.dll
    AGM.dll
    ARE.dll
    BIB.dll
    BIBUtils.dll
    CoolType.dll
    JP2KLib.dll
    PDFFILT.dll
    PDFL60.dll
    XMP.dll.
Where some of these bear the same file name as some of the .dlls running under searchfilterhost.exe, in each case their version numbers are earlier.
In addition, in WS4's File Types list, "PDF IFilter"* appears against "pdf" only. However, it fulfils no function with WS4. With only IFilter 6 installed, WS4 does not index content of Adobe text-based files. No instances of PDFFILT.dll or any other of the associated .dlls, bearing the earlier version numbers, have been seen as running under searchfilterhost.exe.
    * "PDF IFilter" as against Reader's "PDF Filter".
    3. I have marked the .dll file names common to both processes in red.
    4. When 2. applies, but 1. is then introduced, "PDF IFilter" disappears from WS4's File Types list, to be replaced by the configuration shown in 1. When 1. applies, but 2. is then introduced, AcroRdIF.dll (if formerly present; it does not always manifest) disappears from under the cidaemon.exe process, to be replaced by the configuration shown in 2.
    5. Whichever sequence in 3. has occurred, Outlook's having its connection with WS4 enabled is a constant. Thus if WS4 and Outlook are running, WS4's indexing and search functions also become Outlook's, for indexing and searching Outlook’s .ost and .pst files. (The Indexing Service cannot index content in .ost or .pst files and cannot be integrated with Outlook.)
    The issue.
Once IFilter 6 has been installed, it damages Outlook. The damage remains even after IFilter 6 has been uninstalled. The damage can be fixed by running a repair on Outlook.
    Effects of the issue.
With Adobe Reader installed and thus AcroRd32.dll and associated .dlls potentially working with WS4, WS4's indexing of and searching for content in Adobe files becomes erratic. Symptoms vary. In some cases, WS4 will not index the content of any Adobe file (in this case, the Adobe .dlls cannot be seen firing up in Process Explorer; they are not called when an Adobe file is reached). In other cases it will only search content in recently introduced Adobe files. Sometimes the filter works, for attachments in this instance, via WS4's GUI but finds nothing when the same search is carried out via Outlook's GUI. And so on. "Erratic" means what it says!
    Fix (of sorts).
By trial and error, I isolated the fault to Outlook, as follows:
    A.
    IFilter 6 is uninstalled
    WS4 makes a fresh index
WS4's searching of content in Adobe files remains erratic.
    B.
    IFilter 6 is uninstalled
    Outlook is repaired
    WS4 makes a fresh index
WS4's searching for content in Adobe files works reliably.
    Questions.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It seems to me that IFilter 6, which is designed for XP Pro SP1's Indexing Service, should make no contact with WS4 and thus with Outlook. But, clearly it does, damaging Outlook. Equally, Adobe Reader should make no impression on XP's native Indexing Service, but clearly it does, its main indexing .dll (AcroRdIF.dll) sometimes appearing under cidaemon.exe. Does the issue arise from both filters sharing a number of .dll file names?
Would my installing IFilter 6 in a separate partition, and not in the regular Adobe folder in Programme Files, next to Reader, help?
    Any other suggestions, please?
    Related matter.
Regarding the Registry, when IFilter 6 is uninstalled, these files are listed, by the installer, as not unregistered, as they are self-registering files:
    ARE.dll, MPS.dll, PDFL60.dll, BIB.dll, ACE.dll, AGM.dll, XMP.dll, CoolType.dll, JP2KLib.dll, BIBUtils.dll (ten in total) -
that is, all of the eleven IFilter .dlls observed as running under cidaemon.exe except PDFFILT.dll and atmlib.dll and with the addition of BIBUtils.dll. I am not sure though that that has anything to do with the issue. PDFFILT.dll is listed in the registry under "DLLsToRegister", here:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\ContentIndex
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\ContentIndex
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex.
Again, I am not sure there's any problem there. However, my inexpertise in the Registry prevents me looking further. It strikes me that the fault lies in the presence of two Adobe programmes on the system, both possessing similar indexing and searching facilities.
    Views very welcome!!
NB Anyone reading this may wonder why this man is running both SearchIndexer.exe (Windows Search 4) and cisvc.exe (Indexing Service) on the same system. The answer is that the clodhopping hybrid WS4 is only installed to index and search Outlook, which the Indexing Service cannot do. For other searching I find the native Indexing Service, and the Search Companion which works with it (if enabled so to do), much faster and more reliable facilities! I can switch either service on or off very quickly using the sc commands (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490995.aspx). I should mention here that I have modified the "Search" shortcut in "Start" so that Search Companion fires up instead of WS4 by changing the value of ShowStartSearchBand under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Desktop Search\DS from 1 to 0 (thanks to: http://johnsadventures.com/archives/2006/11/how_to_default_to_search_companion_with_window s_de/; Search Companion must be running for ShowStartSearchBand to appear). As this is, I think, only a user-accessed shortcut, then I am assuming the change won't have contributed to the current conflict.

I can conclude this query briefly.
After a number of tests, it is quite clear that both PDFFILT.dll and AcroRdIF.dll cannot run satisfactorily on the same XP Pro SP3 32-bit system. Whenever PDFFILT.dll runs, it progressivily destabilises the functioning of AcroRdIF.dll with Windows Search 4 (WS4).
The hook-up between IFilter6 and XP's native Indexing Service is far more robust than the hook-up between Adobe Reader's filter and WS4. As the latter fragments, the the former keeps soldiering on.
Even after uninstalling IFilter6, the Reader/WS4 combo does not recover. Repairing Outlook (see above) may help. But the only certain way to restore Reader and WS4 to good working order, with regard to indexing and searching the content of Adobe files such as .pdf, is, after having uninstalled IFilter6, to uninstal and re-instal both.
    Registry entries to observe are:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.pdf\PersistentHandler]
    and
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\PersistentHandler].
If {F6594A6D-D57F-4EFD-B2C3-DCD9779E382E} is the value against both, that should indicate WS4 and Adobe are conjoined in unison.
If {B7509D6F-85EE-11d0-AF7D-00C04FD8DC02}, then that indicates the same for Indexing Service and IFilter6.
However, whilst when the latter is the case you can be reasonably sure all is well, the appearance of the other value does not guarantee happiness in the WS4/Adobe camp. Indeed, that situation may well be followed by the two keys disappearing altogether! Stability in the {F6594A6D-D57F-4EFD-B2C3-DCD9779E382E} zone can only occur after uninstallation of IFilter6, as already said above. If it's in situ and so much as hints at running, all is swept before it and its rugged patron, the Indexing Service.
In the blogs and help files (including Adobe's) there is a confusion regarding nomenclature.
Windows Search 4 is a programme added to an existing operating system. It was previously known as Windows Desktop Search. Its service name is: WSearch.
Indexing Service or Content Index Service is built into Windows XP, and has been known as Windows Indexer and similar confusing names which include the word "Windows". Its service name is: ciscv.
Note: this thread concerns itself only with XP Pro SP3 32-bit (extended support for which from Microsoft ends on Tuesday, 8th April 2014 - presumably the date of the last "second-Tuesday" update); search configurations in Vista and Windows 7 are different, as I understand it, and are at any rate ignored herewith.
The two services (WSearch and ciscv) can run independently and carry out their functions separately, which includes of course each cataloguing the same sorts of different files - with the exception of Adobe files. The two services cannot both catalogue the insides of Adobe files. Either one does it, or the other.
The programme Lookeen (paid) may be used apparently as an alternative to WS4 for the purposes of cataloguing emails in Outlook. It is a type of successor to Outlook's Lookout. Their forums/FAQs suggest they only use IFilter6, and have no access to, or use for, the filter in Adobe Reader/Acrobat. Also the filter Foxit (paid) may be more adaptable than the filter bundled with Reader or Acrobat. Both to be confirmed...
Brevity is the soul of wit.

Application Integration is done with providers(portlets)
It depends on the API of your application.
    - Basic integration could be a dynalic SSO-Link in a simple provider.
    - Some apps via Netlet to remote access the application(wold/excel ...)
    - ERP/CRM integration via WSDL or XML/JSP proxy

  • Can Director Interact With Other Applications?

    Hello,
I am a CBT/E-Learning Developer looking for a way to author
Guided Help. I am thinking of how to develop interactive tutorials
that, instead of using screenshots of an application, interact with
    the application itself.
For instance, let's imagine that a person is working in MS
Word and doesn't know how to save a file. He can click the icon for
the "Saving A File" lesson, and a caption displays on top of MS
Word that reads something like "Click FILE", along with some type
of indicator of the FILE button, such as an outline, highlight,
arrow, etc. The user clicks FILE, the File Menu drops down in MS
Word, and the next step of instructions is displayed. In this way,
the usre is guided through the steps of saving a file as he
actually performs the task in the software.
Can Director create this type of thing?
    Thanks a lot,
    Mike

    Hi Chunick,
Thanks for replying. I used MS Word as just an example; the
type of software I'm wanting to use this for is police records
management software. I've been doing the interactive simulation
tutorials for them since 1999, using multimedia authoring tools
Demoshield and Opus Pro, and demo authoring tools RoboDemo and Demo
Builder. However, I wanted to get away from interactive tutorials
    for 3 reasons:
    (1) My client's software is frequently updated, and keeping
up with taking new screenshots is a hassle.
    (2) I'm of the opinion that "at the moment of need", process
embedded "guided help" in the actual application is a much more
useful form of training than working through a simulation.
    (3) It will greatly help my client's support staff and
    training staff
I've been researching process embedded e-learning and guided
help for almost a year now. I've looked at everything from
multimedia authoring to macro software. I even found two programs
that do exactly what I want, but they are very very expensive, much
    more expensive than Director.
Thanks for the tip on Hook Xtra; I'll check that out. Last
night I found an xtra called MasterApp, which may also do what I
need. I appreciate the concern about the difficulty of programming,
and I'm not a programmer (except HTML, and we all know how easy
that is). But I'm in this for the long haul, and would be using it
for potential new clients, not just my current client. I love
learning new software, and I have a membership to the IEEE Computer
Society, which gives me over 1300 online e-learning courses I can
    take, including Director.
    Thanks again for the lead!
    Mike
