Crystal report field in Infoview with hyperlink to .exe needs to pass param

I believe I have exhausted my searching and could not find an answer to this.
I have a CR that will eventually need to be published in InfoView.  One of the fields has a hyperlink that points to a .exe.
The problem is that I need to have CR pass the data in the field as a command line parameter, but InfoView is treating the formula I used to generate the hyperlink as one link, so of course "the address could not be found". The .exe is on a network share drive.
This works fine in CR stand alone, but not in InfoView.
If the answer is obvious I apologize.  I just began using both of these apps a month ago.
Thank you in advance for any information/help.

  • Crystal Reports kicks me out with a crw32.exe has encountered a problem ...

I have not been successful in getting Crystal Reports XI Rel 2 to work for me, except for one very simple report that accesses one table and simply prints out all fields.  When I try to link tables and do something more complicated, it kicks me out with a 'crw32.exe has encountered a problems and needs to close error'.
I am running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3 and using the CR Informix ODBC Driver 5.3 to access data from an Informix DB.

I downloaded and was able to write a report off the Access test DB.  So - I went back and connected to Informix, wrote a report that connected 6 tables and now I get a syntax error (it has not kicked me out yet, though!).  I get -201 error with no explanation.  Here is the sql generated by CR:
    SELECT pallet.pallet_id, item.category_id, item.sub_category_id, category.description, sub_category.description, item.quantity, item.std_cost, sub_category.default_recovery_pct, carton.status, pallet.status, location.location
    FROM   arc:informix.category category, arc:informix.sub_category sub_category, arc:informix.item item, arc:informix.carton carton, arc:informix.pallet pallet,  OUTER arc:informix.location location
    WHERE  (category.row_key=sub_category.category_key) AND ((category.category_id=item.category_id) AND (sub_category.sub_category_id=item.sub_category_id)) AND (item.carton_key=carton.row_key) AND (carton.pallet_key=pallet.row_key) AND (pallet.location_key=location.row_key) AND category.description<>'Dump' AND (carton.status='CLOS' OR carton.status='PALT') AND (pallet.status='DOCK' OR pallet.status='PUTA')
    ORDER BY pallet.pallet_id, item.category_id, item.sub_category_id, category.description, sub_category.description
I don't see a problem with it.  Any other suggestions?  Do you think the CR has a problem with a table called 'Item' since that is a reserved word?

  • Crystal Reports Field Explorer not showing

    Hi,
I am using Visual Studio 2003 with the bundled version of Crystal Reports.  It has always worked fine until recently the Field Explorer tool bar does not show up anymore when I open a Crystal Report for development.  I have uninstalled the entire Visual Studio and reinstalled the Visual Studio but it still will not show the Crystal Reports Field Explorer.  However, if I install the Visual Studio on a completely different computer it works fine.  Anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem on my main computer?  Could it be a setting somewhere in the Visual Studio?  I cannot find any information on this problem.
    Thanks,
    Razzle

Ok, I figured out what the problem was.  It was something wrong in my Windows profile.  So I deleted my Windows profile and created a new one and it is working now.

  • Databases that Crystal Reports 9 can function with

    Hi,
We are going to purchase Crystal Reports for the use with a new financial program that we will be purchasing.  The financial program that we will purchase allows report customization within the program if using the Crystal Reports 9 engine.  For that reason we are going to purchase Crystal Reports 9.  Otherwise we would have to create custom reports outside of this program if using a more recent version of Crystal like 2008.
However we need to make sure Crystal Reports will work with our SQL Server 2005 database.  I tried to research a bit on Crystal Reports 9 (of which currently I know nothing about) and came across this document when doing a search https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/202ff507-281f-2b10-78b6-b6bce2668d6b.
We also need Crystal 9.0 to work with Paradox and BDE databases.  It looks like BDE 5.1 and Paradox 8 & 9 are listed as supported platforms.  I also see SQL Server 2000 but do not see SQL Server 2005.  Will Crystal Reports 9.0 work with a SQL Server 2005 database and also what are the plans for Crystal Reports 9.0 working with future versions of SQL like 2008?
    thanks,
    JW

  • Image toolbar appears over Crystal reports chart in Infoview

I am publishing Crystal reports developed across a Universe in my BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 InfoView. I have done few line charts in the Crystal reports. I am running on Internet Explorer 7 but my clients are running on Internet Exploreer 6.0. When my clients view Crystal reports (in Infoview) on their browser, the charts are identified as images in their infoview by Internet Explorer 6 browser and it keeps showing the Image toolbar ( the small toolbar which popups over the images in IE 6 prompting you to Save this image/Open this image/Save In My Pictures toolbar etc..)
Please try this link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/phototoolbar.mspx to know what an image toolbar is.
This little feature got included in Intenet Explorer 6 by which any image identified by the web browser will automatically popup this Image toolbar. It won't happen in Internet Explorer 7.0.
If i am developing a website and do not want this image toolbar appearing over my images in my site I can code accordingly. But i am clueless about the Crystal Reports/Business Objects Infoview environment and how to get rid of this toolbar.
The one option i got is to ask my users who use IE 6.0 to go to Tools->Internet Options->Advanced tab->Multimedia ->uncheck the checkbox Enable image toolbar. Unfortunately my users login under citrix environment and their default browser settings will be restored every day morning they login.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Michael,
Unfortunately BusinessObjects does not control these settings when accessing the InfoView.  It sounds like it'll need to be addressed by the system administrator to disable that option in IE through user profiles/applications.

  • Does Crystal Report XI R2 comes with Crystal Data Object (CDO)

    Hi,
Does anyone knows if installation of crystal reports include Crystal Data Object (CDO) ? From the article(http://www.dataaccess.com/kbasepublic/KBPrint.asp?ArticleID=2183) it seems like it doesn't comes with the standard installation package in Crystal Report XI R2. Please advise. Thanks =)
    Regards.

You need to pick "Crystal Data Objects" from the list of Data Access options offered by Crystal Reports when you are installing it -- that item is not selected by default.
To add that to your machine:
    - Open Add/Remove Programs
    - Select Crystal Reports 11 and click on the Change button
    - Expand the tree under "Data Access"
    - Select "Crystal Data Objects" and click on it
    - Select it to be installed -- you will probably need your Crystal Reports CD to proceed with the installation.

  • Crystal Report Fields Ungrouping

I am working with existing crystal report and at the moment I am totally helpless to un-group two fields added in Text object.
Basically I want to add formula to one of the embedded field and I can not select that, below is the image
Here you can see two fields are embedded in a Text control, I wanted to select the Top (Extra_Merch_Desc...) field, Kindly help in this regards.
I have done this so far.
    Select the required field(s)
From the Format menu select the Format Field option
    Click on the Font Tab
Press the [x+2] button to the right of the Size drop down
Enter the following formula:  IF Len({Customer.Customer Name})>15 Then 8 else
    IF Len({Customer.Customer Name}) in 10 to 15 Then 9 else 10
Press the Save and Close button
    Reference Link
I have double clicked the Text box and found two options :
    Text Formatting...
    Format Embedded Field...
When I do modify the Formula and "Save & Close Option Press" , it saves and I can see Formula in the Formula box, but after exiting from Formatting Box next time that formula disappears.
Below is the formula for the font change:
    if Length({myfield}) < 50
      then 16
    else if ((Length({myfield}) >= 50) AND (Length({myfield}) < 80 ))
      then 13
    else if ((Length({myfield}) >= 80) AND (Length({myfield}) < 100 ))
      then 11
    else
      10

    Hi Qadeer,
    Have you tried this:
    1) Drag and drop the first field on the report
    2) Right click the field and insert the formatting formula
    3) Do the same for the next field
    4) Insert a text object and place these two fields in the text object.

  • Crystal Report Promting in Infoview

    Hi together,
I've got a crystal report based on a SAP BW Query with about 20 parameters. I've published
    the report into the infoview.
If I start the report in the infoview I've to confirm every parameter with his own "Add"-Button.
Is there a chance to combine all the 20 "Add-Buttons" in one Button. This would make it
more easy and comfortable to use the report.
Any hints? Searching the documentation /forum was not successfull.
    Lars

    Hi,
I've published the CR into the infoview with the "save as" button in the SAP-Toolbar in Crystal Reports.
Then with a left click I've started the report. Then I've to fill the parameters, one after another with there own "add"-button.
Is this what u mean with On Demand?

The System-Landscape is a CR2008, BOE 3.1 Fixpack 1.8 SAP BI 7.0 SP 18 and SAP Integration Kit.

  • Can You Use A Report Field Value In A Hyperlink?

<p>I have a report field that I would like to be a link to another application. Making a report field a hyperlink to a web page was nice and simple.  However, I was expecting to be able to use the value of the field in the hyperlink something like...</p><p><a href="http://mywebsite/controller?action=servlets.ReportAlertDetailListAction&key={AlertSearch.ALERT_KEY">http://mywebsite/controller?action=servlets.ReportAlertDetailListAction&key={AlertSearch.ALERT_KEY</a>}</p><p>...where AlertSearch is the table name and ALERT_KEY is the field name.  Is there a way to use a report field in a hyperlink?  Would using a formula allow it to be dynamic?  The goal is to have each row of the report link to a URL with a different parameter.  I can see eventually redoing it as a drill down feature but the detail I need already exists in a separate application.</p><p>Thanks,</p><p>Ed</p>

    Hi Ed.
I believe the conditional formula that you would use (don't just type in the text box - press the button for the formula first).
    "[http://mywebsite/controller?action=servlets.ReportAlertDetailListAction&key | http://mywebsite/controller?action=servlets.ReportAlertDetailListAction&key]=" + {AlertSearch.ALERT_KEY}
The key is to use the conditional formula feature of the hyperlink feature.Â
    Enjoy!Â

  • Crystal Report 2008 SP2 & InfoView: Custom XML Export doesnt work

    Hi,
I have created a Crystal Report .rpt and want to use the custom xml export function to output a custom xml file. For that, I created a custom transformation file (xsl) and imported it into the .rpt . On the client machine, if I open the .rpt with Crystal Reports 2008 SP2, and select to export it using the custom xml output, all runs fine. (under SP1, only half the file was created...)
If I upload the .rpt file to Infoview (server-side: BO Enterprise 3.1, SP2 as well) and schedule it, I can select xml, and then my custom xml as output format, but I am getting the error message u201EUngültige Exportoptionen" (="invalid export options"), in the instance history. No output file is created. I use file system as destination. Other output formats like .pdf and .rpt work fine and files are created.
    Ideas:
-Are there any more settings needed on the server (e.g.CMC - Crystal Server Jobs, other Processes, ...) so I can schedule the report and successfully create the custom xml format file as output?
-Do I need to upgrade to a specific SP or FP on server-side so everything runs smooth?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Florian,
I'm having the same problem, have you by any chance found a solution?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 in InfoView

    Hi all,
please enlight me - is it possible to design/modify crystal reports in InfoView (BO XI 3.1) like in InfoView XI R2 (using CR Explorer)? This funcionality is missing in XI 3.0 - am i right? Design/modify only in standalone CR Designer?
    Thanks for help!
    ps:
I am looking for a way to create a report without configuring odbc/ole sources and not using Webi (i want to access many db tables - access through Universe is not a way and through BusinessViews is OK). It is intended for occasional user so the way through www looks good (like CR Explorer in BO XI R2) but it seems there is no such CRE in BO R3.

    Hi Janusz,
Yes ,We cannot  design/modify crystal reports in InfoView (BO XI 3.1) like in InfoView XI R2.
The  Design/modify   can be done  in  Crystal  Designer.
To access database through explorer   we need to retrieve the records based on our  request.
In business view manager is used as a repository items  for enterprise. Where all the  dynamic parameters created are stored.
Using universe we need to create the objects based on database fields.
Just let us know is there any option you are looking for.

  • Nonsensical top level PDF bookmark in Crystal report exported from InfoView

Thank you for any help or suggestions!
I am using Crystal Reports 2008, the CMC repository, and InfoView.  I am producing PDF reports, many with bookmarks based on the group tree.
I have found that when I run my report off my workstation, all is fine, but when I run the same report out of InfoView, the top level bookmark is a string of nonsensical numbers and characters.
Is there a way for me to ensure that this top level bookmark is something readable, perhaps the name of the report?
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
I ran into this problem just recently myself.  The report would export just fine out of the designer but when I would try to export it from CMC it would give me a root bookmark named along the lines of "~crw{33FB2DCD-838A-(more gibberish)....}.rpt"
I eventually figured out how to solve it.  I am using Crystal XI R2, not 2008, but I suspect you may be able to resolve the issue using the same steps.  I believe that the gibberish name that you are seeing is the actual technical name of the report as it is stored on the Enterprise server.  In order to get it to display a nice formatted name of your choosing, open up your report in the report designer.  Now go to the File menu and select Summary Info.  In the Title section, provide the name of the report that you would like to see at the root of the bookmark.  You are esentially setting up an alias for it.  Now when you export, you should see the new name that you typed in as the main part of the bookmark.
    Hope this works for you!

  • Crystal Reports Server XI Infoview Error Messages

Just upgraded to Crystal Reports Server XI Release 2. I can create reports and save them using the enterprise method. The reports run fine in Crystal reports but when I try to view a report using Infoview I get the following messages:
    Unable to retrieve object.
    Library not registered.
If I change viewers the first line will be different but the second line will be the same.
All the servers are running and permissions look good. I've searched the web and this forum and could not find an answer.
    Thanks,
    mx_forever

    Jock,
That is understandable as I just saw a typo in the dll name.  I think more importanly we should check on a few other items.
    1.  I am presuming the Infoview/CMC applications are running in IIS.  Is that true?  Do you jave the java version installed as well?  If so, attempt to open the report(s) there.
    2.  Is IIS is involved, Is there a valid virtual directory for crystalreportviewers115?
I have never seen anything with "Line 6" before.  It may be a reference to the web.config file that specifies the viewers etc.
    Tony
