  • Unicode issues connecting Crystal Report to MySQL 5.0

    Post Author: Charles Wong
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    Hi,
    We are developing a web application by PHP 4.4.5, Crystal Report XI developer edition (English version), MySQL 5.0 and English Windows 2003 server.
    MySQL has been configured to store unicode values in all levels. In other words, connectivity, server itself, tables, etc are set to unicode.
    In the web browser, PHP can store and show special Portugues characters (e.g. çã), Chinese (both traditional and simplified) normally. In MySQL browser, all these values can be shown successfully.
    In Crystal Report, both Traditional and simplifed Chinese characters show as ???, however. The connection between Crystal Report and MySQL is throught MySQL ODBC 3.5.12 version.
    Does anybody know why? Any special setting needed in Crystal Report or in MySQL or in ODBC???

    Hi All,
    I'm replying myself.
    I read something in the Internet. Somebody said Windows and Crystal report use UCS-2 (or UTF-16?) as the unicode encoding scheme. In our the system, we set to UTF-8. Can this be a problem?

  • Crystal Reports 2008, mySQL, JDBC, and ODBC

    Hello everyone.
    I have just spent a very challenging few days getting Crystal Reports 2008 Developer (advanced version) working with a mySQL data source.  I fell into several pits and narrowly escaped being eaten by monsters. I thought I'd share my experience to spare others the same trouble.  All the stuff I'm writing about here applies to the runtime as well as the Developer UI.
    I'm working on Windows Server 2008 R2, 64 bit, standard edition.  The mySQL server is 5.1.42. The mySQL ODBC connector is version 5.1.6.  You need the 32-bit version of this connector, even if you're on a 64-bit machine.
    Lessons learned:
    1. JDBC connectivity in Crystal Reports doesn't work correctly.  It consumes excessive memory when a report  requires lots of rows from a data base.  Don't even think about using it.
    2. Crystal Reports has a problem with ODBC for mySQL in which it sometimes gives a dialog box with these words in it.
    The alias requested 'SOME_TABLE_NAME', contains a combination
       of characters which is not considered to be valid.
    This error message come up when using items on Crystal's "Database" menu like "Set Datasource Location..."
    To fix this you need to make a registry change.  As far as I know this has to be done for each account on each machine running the Crystal Developer. (insert usual warning about registry editor). Find the key named:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Database
    Create a new string value named InvalidAliasCharList Give it this value:
    .:{}()@&$#^!*~|%\\\"
    Notice that the last two characters are backslash double-quote.
    Good luck.  It actually works pretty well now that it's working.
    If any other community member can offer corrections or better ways of coping with this stuff, please do!

    Good morning,
    I was wondering if I may ask some additional help...
    We're on version 14.0.4.738 RTM and we are having the same issue.... need to enter the alias as table name with a backslash, ie serparate_work_orders\ for login credential reasons, but all the regedits listed seem to refer to locations in the registry that dont exist.
    Version 14 have two "database locations" from what i can see called...
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions
    and
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseServer
    I've applied the patch to both these locations and still no joy, same error message!
    Any ideas?

  • Connecting Crystal report with MySql

    Post Author: brajbhushan
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    hi all
            i m trying to connect crystal reports XI Release 2 to MySql 5.0 using ODBC.Problem is that after connecting it successfully it shows only few fields of our table in database when i see it in Database Expert of Crystal Reports. The second problem is that the fields don't have any data with them. Can anyone guide me is there any problem with Crystal Reports while connecting to MySql. Is there any Compatibilty Problem of DataType in Crystal Reports while using MySql.
    Thanks

    Moved to .NET SDK forums
    First issue is CR 10 has not been tested nor is it supported in VS 2010.
    To use CR in VS 2010 download [CR for VS 2010|Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 Production Release Now Available;
    Likely what your problem is is you are not setting or replacing the database connection info but without more info I can't suggest how to fix it. It could also be that you have set your framework to 4.0, CR 10 is FW 1.1 or possibly 2.0 only.
    Or you may even be trying to use the craxddrt.dll which is again no longer supported not are you licensed to use it or distribute it.
    Also you'll likely run into version problems with IIS. I believe CR 10 only supported IIS 5 but check the platforms PDF for more info.
    Good luck.

  • Crystal Report Config

    Hi,
    How to configure Crystal report using MySql?
    I added mysqlconnector.jar in CRConfig.xml file, Is there any jar to include for mySql?
    Pls Help me those who knows...

    Hello, Mervin;
    Since you are using ADO.NET dataset, is it possible to get all of the fields you need in one SQL Query outside of Crystal Reports?
    If that is possible, you can use that dataset to create an XML or XSD file to use as the structure for your report.
    VB
    'Using the full path to the .xml file, include the schema
    dataSet.WriteXml("C:\temp\test.xml", XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
    or
    dataSet.WriteXmlSchema("c:\temp\testXML.xsd")
    Now create a new report with the ADO.NET(XML) connection and point to either the XML or XSD you created. XML is useful because you can view data in the report designer for final formatting of the report.
    Now there is only one datasource and no linking is required in Crystal Reports. That should resolve the one to many issue.
    Another useful tool is to group on the many and place all the fields normally in the detail section into that group header. Suppress the Detail and Group footer sections. The Group Header will now look like a Detail section and each distinct value will only appear once. You can group on one field or a combination (using a formula field) to get the results you need. Test this to be sure you do not miss anything you want to see.

  • Crystal Report 2008 IDE - JDBC connection issue

    Hello,
    I'm using Crystal Report 2008 IDE. I've created a report that goes against Oracle 11G database.
    I have installed Oracle Instant Client (32 bit) 11.2.0.2.0.
    I can establish and Oracle connection via the IDE.
    When I attempt to establish a JDBC connection through the database expert wizard, I keep getting JDBC driver not found message.
    I've updated my CRconfig.xml specifically the classpath to point to where my ojdbc5.jar file is located.
    What else do i need to do in order to establish a JDBC connection?

    Hi,
    First of all what is the service pack that you are using for Crystal Reports 2008, because Oracle 11g R2 is supported from Service pack 4 onwards in CR 2008.
    For JDBC connection with CR 2008 you can have a look at this link might this would help you:

  • MySQL 5.5, Crystal Report for Visual Studio not working when hosted IIS

    Software and Component detail
    Microsoft visual studio 2010

    MYSQL SERVER Database
    Version 5.5
    MySQL Connector 6.6.4 64 Bit

    Crystal Report for Visusl Studio 64 Bit 13.0.5
    (CRforVS_redist_install_64bit_13_0_5)
    Current Setup
    1. I have WebSite in ASP.NET Visual Basic which works fine and is connected to MySQL Database, using MySQl Connector 6.6.4 64 bit
    and is using a connection string,defined in web.confg.
    2. I am using a Crystal report( It is very complex report, so cannot dare to redo it). Data Source for the report is set using a connection string
    DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 5.2a Driver};SERVER=Licensedb;DATABASE=License;pwd=root;PORT=3306;OPTION=3 and this report is called from website using the below code
    Dim crystalReport As ReportDocument = New ReportDocument()
    Dim repPath As String = Server.MapPath("~/Reports/") + "LicenseReport.rpt"
    crystalReport.Load(repPath)
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crystalReport
    crystalReport.SetParameterValue("InstanceID", CInt(Session("sessionInstanceID")))
    crystalReport.Refresh()
    crystalReport.SetParameterValue("InstanceID", CInt(Session("sessionInstanceID")))
    CrystalReportViewer1.Visible = True
    3. The above setup works fine, when I run the website from Visual studio 2010. But when i use IIS 7, the aspx page having crystal report viewer control load and its blank.
    However it work very well from studio it self.
    4. So I changed the setup in point 2, by having a ODBC Data source defined. And changed the report accordingly. It work fine in Visual studio , but from IIS
    it gives error "Failed to Open Connection, Failed to Open Connection <Crystal Report File name.rpt>"
    5. I tried creating a System DSN and same connection string in IIS Application Connection string. But nothing changed.
    Please can anyone point in correct direction. I must admit this is my first website development work, so I might have overlooked some minor details.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    hello again. I fear that what is said in that article does not apply to my particular case.
    First of all i am using the Crystal Report Basic 2008, which I think is not the same product as Crystal Reports 2008.
    In addition, printing fails always, on my PC and on the web server.
    On the other hand I can not find anywhere printcontrol.cab file or printcontrol.dll, just do not exist either in my PC or on the web server.
    The folder where the report viewer is located is not CrystalReportViewers12, is CrystalReportWebFormViewer4, and is located at wwwroot\aspnet_client\system_web\2_0_50727\
    Investigating I found something, but has not helped me:
    [http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vscrystalreports/thread/0af08d25-dd71-41ce-92fa-ca374f933eaa/]
    This problem is what always happens to me when on my local PC I access my web server by its public IP.
    I think I must resign myself to use only the PDF print
    thanks anyway

  • Crystal Report - More than one table from MySql

    Hello, I am in need of help big time.
    I have am using Visual Studio 2010 and Crystal Report 10.
    The problem that I am incounting is that I am unable to retreive data from more than one table from a MySql database. I have been stuck on this for too long and need to hjump the hurdle.
    I am using a MySql connection string, a dataset and a crystal report which is based on the dataset.
    The main error that I am having is, the browser opens and a form appears saying "The report you requetsed requires further information" With the Server name: DataSetPropertiesDetials, while the User name and Password fields are then enabled.
    I am guessing I am missing something in my code.
    When I retreive data from one table the report is fine, but when I try to use more than one table it throws the error.
    My Code is below and also attached:
    Imports System.Data.SqlClient
    Imports System.Configuration

    daProperty.Fill(myData)
    cmdUser.CommandText = "SELECT known_name FROM tbluser"
    cmdUser.Connection = con
    daUser.SelectCommand = cmdUser
    daUser.Fill(myData)
    myReport.Load("REPORT LOCATION")

    Hi,
    You have 3 SQL commands but you are calling SetDataSource only once.  You need to look through for each of the SQL Commands.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 (Linux) - Crystal Reports/MySQL/ODBC Issue

    Hello,
    I have successfully installed CRS '08 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 server.  All services run fine.
    In the CMC, I have uploaded a Crystal Report that connect to a remote MySQL server.
    I have installed the My SQL ODBC 3.51.11 and .12 Drivers as a System DSN.
    I have proven that the reports run fine in Crystal Reports 2008 directly against the remote MySQL DB server.
    (in Windows but with the same 3.51 ODBC Drivers)
    I have also proven that the database connection works okay from the CRS '08 Red Hat server to the remote MySQL DB server, when also creating a system DSN (using bash ./ODBCConfig)
    The problem is that when I log into the CMC or InfoView, and when I run the Crystal Reports from there, I get an error message:
    "Error in File <MyCrystalReport>: Failed to load database information"
    Is there something wrong with my specific Crystal Reports' Database Configuration? (Right click- Database Configuration)
    I see the driver was registered correctly in the /etc/odbc.ini file
    Am I supposed to set any other ODBC environment variables?
    Is there are firewall issue (port 3306 is already open)?
    In summary, the install was successful, and Crystal Reports can be uploaded and viewed via CMC or InfoView, but I cannot run the Crystal Reports against the database.
    Please advise, Thanks!

    Hi, I'm facing a similar problem. My ODBC DSN never works with CRS. Here are the details:<br><br>
    (1) I  installed the CRS 2008 in /opt/crystalreportsserver_2008_v1/ on a Linux platform. The CRS works well. I created a report with Crystal Reports 2008. This report directly connects to a MySQL server. After I published the report and manually modify its database configuration, I can browse it from InfoView. I'm sure that CRS, MySQL, and a report connecting to MySQL are all good.<br><br>
    (2) Then, I created an ODBC DSN on a Windows platform. This DSN connects to a MySQL server. I created another report with Crystal Reports using this DSN. The report can show the data within Crystal Reports.<br><br>
    (3) Then, I published the second report to CRS, but when I try to browse it, I always get such a message: Failed to open the connection.<br><br>
    I have configured the ODBC for CRS on the Linux server and I think the configuration is correct. This is how I do that: I edited the /opt/crystalreportsserver_2008_v1/bobje/odbc.ini file. In the file I added a data source called ods_telstar. Following is the content of the file:<br><br>
    [ODBC Data Sources]<br><
    CRSQLServerWP=DataDirect 5.3 SQLServer Wire Protocol Driver<br>
    CRSybaseWP=DataDirect 5.3 Sybase Wire Protocol Driver<br>
    CRText=DataDirect 5.3 Text Driver<br>
    %SYBASEDSN%=DataDirect 5.3 Sybase Wire Protocol Driver<br>
    ods_telstar = MySQL<br>
    <br>
    ... <br>
    <br>
    [ods_telstar]<br>
    Description     = ODS on telstar<br>
    Trace       = Off<br>
    TraceFile   = stderr<br>
    Driver      = /opt/crystalreportsserver_2008_v1/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/odbc/lib/libmyodbc5.so<br>
    SERVER      = xxx<br>
    USER        = xxx<br>
    PASSWORD    = xxx<br>
    PORT        = 3306<br>
    DATABASE    = ods<br>
    <br>
    In the middle I removed some data source definitions that are by default in the file. Note that I use "xxx" to replace the server name, user, and password. Such information is for internal use and I'm sure the original information is correct. The MySQL ODBC driver file has been put in the correct location. Correct access permissions has been assigned to the file.<br><br>
    I've tried to restart the CRS server, but still the report using ODBC DSN cannot be viewed.<br><br>
    The reason that we want to user ODBC DSN is that we may have many reports to publish. When we design the reports, we specify that they get data through an ODBC DSN such as ods_telstar. If we configure the same DSN on CRS, then we don't need manually modify each report's configuration after we publish them. If these reports are directly connecting to MySQL, then we have to manually modify each one's database configuration after we publish them.<br><br>
    I've no idea what's wrong with all the setup. Any suggestions and comments are appreciated!<br>

  • ODBC Connectivity with Crystal Reports 2009 and MySQL

    Hi,
    I'm hoping someone can help me. We are currently running Crystal Reports CR Developer version 9.2.2.693 with an ODBC connection (ODBC 3.51 driver) to a My SQL database, version 4.0.18.*
    We want to upgrade to Crystal Reports 2008, CR Developer version 12.0.0.683, however when I try to run reports to the current database, I get the following error:
    *Database Connector Error: 2300:[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.0.18-nt]You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near  .client where 0=1  at line 1 [Database Vendor Code: 1064] *
    Has anyone encoutered this before? Do I need to get a different rev. ODBC driver? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for your suggestion, but since the same query works when I use Crytal Reports 9 to the same MySQL database, I don't think that's the issue. I wonder if it has to do with the driver.

  • MySQL Stored Procedure got error in Crystal Reports 9

    Hi,
    I am using MySQL Server 6.0 and mysqlyog and Crystal Reports 9 and ODBC 3.5 and ODBC 5.1. When I create report in CR9 using wizard, I always got an error message "CRW32.exe has encountered problem and needs to be close. bla bla bla..."
    But when I try my odbc connection (DSN) to link in ms access i successfully see the records.
    I also use MS SQL stored procedure in crystal 9 but i got no problem encountered. the only difference is I use OLE DB connection.
    Can any one can tell or explain why an erro message always comes out?

    hi,
    Fields in Stored Procedure does not appear.
    I am now using crystal reports 2008 evaluation copy for 30 days. I am trying to create a stored procedure with parameter, here is my sample Stored Procedure code;
    DELIMITER $$
    DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS `puerto`.`SP_FindEmployees`$$
    CREATE DEFINER=`root`@`localhost` PROCEDURE `SP_FindEmployees`(SIDNo VARCHAR(10))
    BEGIN
         SELECT * FROM employees WHERE IDNo=SIDNo;
        END$$
    DELIMITER ;
    when i try to call the procedure in sqlyog here is my sample code;
    CALL sp_findemployees('0000000001')
    it is successfull, but when i try to  connect it with crystal reports 2008 I got no fields in my stored procedure andi got this error message ;
    "Database Connector: 'HY00:[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.1.33-community]incorect number of arguments for procedure puerto.sp_findemployees; expected 1, got 0 [Database vendor code: 1318]"
    CR2008 was not asking a parameter values.
    But when I try using stored procedure that i've made in MSSQL, CR2008 asking parameters and succefully created the reports needed.
    My Objective is to make a stored procedure  in MySQL by using select statement and filter it with parameter(s) that I will pass and CR2008 will use this stored procedure.
    i also try the view with this code below and it was successfull in CR2008.
    DELIMITER $$
    DROP VIEW IF EXISTS `puerto`.`ep_employees`$$
    CREATE ALGORITHM=UNDEFINED DEFINER=`root`@`localhost` SQL SECURITY DEFINER VIEW `ep_employees` AS (SELECT `employees`.`IDNo` AS `IDNo`,`employees`.`FullName` AS `FullName` FROM `employees`)$$
    DELIMITER ;

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Server and MySQL DataBase source for reports

    Hello,
    I am having an issue with crystal reports server 2008. I have created a report on my local machine with crystal reports and the datasource is a ODBC connection to a MySQL database.
    The report works fine on my local. if i publish to the Crystal Reports Server, i get an error when i try and run the report.
    "error Failed to open the connection. "
    I have gone into the database connections for this report and put in the connection details. I have also created a ODBC connection on the server in windows to the actual database (installed both the 32bit and 64bit ODBC drivers, both Test succesfully). But when i go into crystal no matter what settings i try it will not work.
    anyone have any ideas?
    kthank you

    I have solved the issues. This may be usefull for anyone ...
    1. Make sure on the developer machine you have your ODBC connection setup under the System DNS setting in windows.
    2. On the Crystal Report Server, the exact same setup must be done under System DNS, same name, etc
    Once this was done, everything was fixed.

  • Crystal Report Server XI R2 - Upgrade MySQL to 5.0 or 5.1?

    Although SP4 for Crystal Report Server XI R2 contains mySQL v 4.1.23, there are security vulnerabilities which are only addressed in 4.1.24 and 4.1.25.  These versions are not in release in binary form from mysql.com, as 4.1 is no longer supported.
    To address the security vulnerabilities, an update of mySQL to 5.0 or 5,1 may be required, but a straight upgrade from 4.1 to either of these versions does not seem to work - CMS cannot connect to the new database version.
    Can anyone provide some guidance on how to patch mySQL from 4.1 to 5.0 or 5.1 for Crystal Report Server XI R2, or whether there is another way of addressing the security vulnerabilities in 4.1.23?
    Thanks
    Paul

    Answered my own question.  Managed to upgrade to 5.0 following this process, but follow these instructions with care...
    1.  Stop all CMS services in Config Manager.
    2. Go to Add/Remove programs and click "change" for Crystal Reports Server XI.  Click on "Modify" then change the entry for MySQL4.1.13a to "Entire Feature will be unavailable" (from Enterprise -> Server Components -> Servers - > Central Management Server).  This will remove the existing mySQL version and any data/license key information/customisation, so be wary.
    3. Install the desired version of mySQL.
    4. Use the MySql command line to create a new database - "create DATABASE BOE115;"
    5. In the Central Config Manager, select the CMS and display its properties.  Select the Dependencies tab and remove the old version of mySQL and add the new version.  Click on the Config tab, then Select Datasource.  Select mySQL driver, then complete the details for the newly created database.  Once complete it will still produce an error, at which point you need to select the options to Re-create the Current Datasource.
    6. Once the datasource is sucessfully recreated, restart the Crystal service in the Config Manager.
    7. Open the Config tool, and add your license key. Then Re-Enable all the servers within the Servers page.
    8.  Any other customisation or preferences would need to be re-applied.
    This worked for me, but obviously take care as your existing mySQL database will be completely removed during the process.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1, RedHat Enterprise Linux, MySQL, ODBC

    Iu2019m confused about connecting to an ODBC source from a report within CMC. Iu2019m a Unix guy; I donu2019t know much about Crystal reports, but Iu2019m working with a Crystal guy to get this thing working.
    <br><br>
    First, background: I have installed Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 in RedHat Enterprise Linux (5.4), and itu2019s running just fine! Iu2019m using the included Tomcat application server, but Iu2019m storing CMS and Audit data our local running copy of MySQL (5.1.42). The RHEL install is native 32-bit (the only way I could get it to work), Crystal is storing and retrieving data from MySQL, The Central Management Console is responding to port 8080 over Tomcat, Iu2019m able to log in and see stuff, and so far, life is good.
    <br><br>
    Now, where Iu2019m stuck: the data weu2019re trying to build reports from <i>also</i> resides in this local Linux / MySQL install, and connecting to it from a report within CMC is where Iu2019m lost.
    <br><br>
    First, I successfully installed the unixODBC and MyODBC drivers in Linux. Iu2019m able to connect to MySQL successfully using the isql utility. Here are my conf files:
    <br><br>
    <pre class="jive-pre"><code class="jive-code jive-java">/etc/odbc.ini
    [DSN_NAME]
    Driver = MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver
    DATABASE = project_web_prod
    DESCRIPTION = Project Description
    UID = username
    PWD = password
    SOCKET = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
    /etc/odbcinst.ini
    [MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver]
    Driver = /usr/lib/libmyodbc5.so
    UsageCount = 1
    </code></pre>
    <br>
    Again, this all works with isql (Iu2019ve even used both a socket connection, and port 3306, in odbc.ini).
    <br><br>
    Now, our Crystal guy uploads a report into the CMC. I go to <i>Folders -> <Project Folder></i>, right-click the report I want to test, click <i>Database Configuration</i>, and check the option <i>Use custom database login information specified here</i>. I select database driver <i>ODBC</i> from the dropdown, and type in the server, database, username, and password info. However, when I try to run the report, it fails to connect.

    So, stupid question, can Crystalu2019s CMC use the system ODBC configuration options? (The ones stored in /etc). Because I saw an odbc.ini file in ~crystalinstalldir/bobje/. I edited it to match the contents of my /etc/odbc[inst].ini files, but to no avail. I saw that Crystal has itu2019s own ODBC engine, but it doesnu2019t support MyODBC driver, does it? I even tried hacking env.sh to use the system unixODBC library instead of the included one, but no luck.
    <br><br>
    So, in short, my question: how do I simply get reports in CMC to connect to a MySQL data source (using ODBC)?
    <br><br>
    Thanks so much! An answer to this question will save my day!

    Thank you, Efstratios, for the helpful reply!
    So, I followed the directions in the PDF file you attached, and everything went smoothly. However, Iu2019m still not able to connect to ODBC within CMC.
    Hereu2019s what I did:
    <ul style="list-style-type:disc">
    <li>Copied the unixODBC libraries over to &lt;installdir&gt;/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/odbc/lib</li>
    <li>Removed MySQL ODBC connector 5.1, installed MySQL ODBC connector 3.51.</li>
    <li>Edited &lt;installdir&gt;/bobje/defaultodbc.ini, added my DSN and MySQL library info as per the instructions (I have both an odbc.ini, and defaultodbc.ini, identical files, just to be safe)</li>
    <li>Tested the connection using these libraries, this odbc.ini, and isql. Worked just fine</li>
    </ul>
    So, my problem seems to be in getting the CMC to actually <i>use</i> my ODBC setup!
    Any other hints / things I could try?
    When I right-click a report, and go to &ldquo;Database Configuration,&rdquo; which connection options should I use for the report? Iu2019ve tried both &ldquo;Use original database logon information from the report,&rdquo; and &ldquo;Use custom database logon information specified here&rdquo; (using the ODBC option from the drop-down menu). Either way, if I enter in the database, username, password, and then try to run the report (&ldquo;Run Now&rdquo;), I get this message in the History: &ldquo;Failed - Information is needed before this report can be processed.&rdquo;
    Is there another place I could get a more helpful error message? Or is there, perhaps, another way I could test database connectivity from within CMC? I wish there were at least a &ldquo;Test Database Connection&rdquo; optionu2026 :P
    Thanks so much for your help!

  • Crystal Report on Universe with MySQL ODBC

    Hi
    I created a report with Crystal reports by using a Universe based on MySQL ODBC. In my local (Windows XP) installed Report Designer everything is running fine. I'm also able to publish this report to my BOE, based on RHEL.
    If I will refresh my report on InfoView, database credential are required, but my credential are not accepted. I only become a error message: Failed to open the connection
    If I use Webi with the same universe and the same connection, everything is fine.
    I have also change the ODBC version, but no other result.
    Any idea, where I can trace this connection?
    Versions:
    Crystal Reports 2008 (12.0.0.683)
    Business Objects Enterprise 3.0 (12.0.0.683)
    MySQL ODBC 3.51.27 and 5.1.5
    Thanks a lot
    Christoph

    Hi,
    thank you very much for reply.
    I think you got it. We have the goal to create a report that can be printed and is top-gloss-report for management ; ) One query would not be able to include all that stuff. It is very different.
    So we created 7 different queries in SAP BW Query Designer and we want to put them together in BO Crystal Reports.
    All Queries work with input variable for period and year. These input variables are used in the columns of the queries for calculating the key figures.
    So, if we put these queries together into Crystal Reports, we should actually use "replacement path" for variables. But the sap.help says, that isn't doable.
